The Proposition (The Plus One Chronicles Book 1)

This story was different than I expected...I was thinking it was a fluffy super steamy smut tastic kind of thing, but it wasn't like that, there was an actual story to it. I was interested from the beginning because both characters have something going on that we don't quite know about yet, there are just hints, but some stuff is definitely not right. As soon as it ended, I was looking up the release date of the next one...I would recommend it.

Loved it and eagerly awaiting the next one. Kat`s story is so relatable!! Sloane is sexy, mysterious and exciting...the suspense is too much to find out what has happened in his past and whether or not Kat will steal his heart!

Jennifer Lyon captivated me with her Wing Slayer Hunter series, so I grabbed The Proposition as soon as I saw it. I wasn't disappointed. Her ability to create instant sexual tension with one look is amazing, and she doesn't let up on the ST as the story continues. The plot is great and I loved Sloane and Kat from the first time I met them. I highly recommend The Proposition and can't wait for the next two novellas in this fabulous series!

Yes, I am hooked. Excellent. Love sweet, strong, damaged Kat. And Sloane is the perfect damaged alfa male not to metion he's just plain yummy. My only complaint is how long the book is. Please pretty please make the next two books longer!!

Great book, just too short! It stops right in the middle of the story and that was pretty disappointing! Other than that is a really great book. Looking forward to finishing the story where it leaves off.

While I was interested in the characters at the beginning, it became more about graphic sexual encounters than character development! Disappointed in cliffhanger ending. Will never find out what happens because I won't wade into another one of Lyon's books!

I was pulled in, sucked under and discovered that I want a man like Sloane in my life. What woman doesn't want a protector like Sloane Michaels and of his bada** heartbreaking goodness!! Jennifer Lyon has found her niche with the PLUS ONE CHRONICLES.

If you are looking for something new, exciting and a guarantee that you will get nothing done until you have finished the last page and then still stare at that final word for a while in hope that by some magic it will cause just a few more chapter to appear because you feel like you are going to bust if you don't get just a little more, .......then I have the perfect story for you.
The Proposition by Jennifer Lyon is a read you need to hear about.
Gorgeous, smoking hot, Sloane Michaels is sex on a hot caramel chocolate covered stick and a dream come true that all women have had at one time or another in their life. Be sure to have a cool drink handy before you start reading because the room will become very warm once you start turning the pages of this fantastic story. Sizzling, steamy, strong, delicious, dominant,........ forget drinking the cool drink you have, just pour it over your head because you are going to need it.

"Keep standing there," he cut her off and crossed his arms over his chest. "And I'm going to strip off your clothes and make a meal out of you."

His match comes in the form of someone he hated in the past. The years have changed and brought out a different individual in Kat Thayne. Some good, some painful, while confinement within herself screams to be free, Sloane is there to help her take the steps she needs.

His touch seared her, not with the sexual vibrations of earlier, but with some need she couldn't name. She yanked her hand away, clutching it in her lap. Keeping focus on the picture over his shoulder, she said, "And what would that be?"

There are so many things I would love to tell you but I don't want to give to much away. Just remember to breathe as you find yourself captured by the plot. (I think I did start turning blue a time or two).

This book starts off with some heart pounding moments. It draws you in and gets you utterly intrigued. As things progress, both characters are compelling, but I really feel that it's Kat that really gets you connected. Though I have to admit, I was completely enamored with Sloane right from the start, and while I want to see Kat grow, I would love to see him NOT get something he wants!

They made this agreement and I honestly hate it. While I understand it and it's mutually beneficial in more ways than one, I just hate that they keep things so "casual". That being said, he treated her as more than casual and the more protective he got, the more endeared I was to him.

I liked this book and am very intrigued to read more, but the way it was ended really bothered me. It felt like the story was just cut off part way through leaving it horribly incomplete. There's a cliffhanger ending, there's "open-ended", and then there's just...this. Was I left wanting more? Yes, but not in a passionate "I can't wait for the next installment" kind of way. I was just plain frustrated. With all the buildup of mystery and sexual tension, I just would have appreciated a more definitive close to this book even with another book coming in the series.

This is a story of strength and personal growth as well as great chemistry. Good start to a series, but be prepared to need book 2 immediately upon finishing!

After the attack she decided to leave and to the one thing that made her happy, bake. Now her family believes she is wasting her time and her education “playing” at her bakery when she could be much more successful at the family business.

They meet one night a wedding that Kat is delivering the cake at and Sloan is instantly captivated. He ends up rescuing Kat and her helper out back during a carjacking. Afterwards he can’t help but pursue her. He offers her the one thing she can’t refuse. In exchange for a plus one arrangement he will teach her to fight. Something she wants to help her feel more safe and secure.

This is one smoking hot book with some very entertaining characters. After reading this Sloan is one of my new book boyfriends !!

I am not going to lie I seriously have the hot's for the sexy tattoo, ex UFC fighter Sloane Michaels. He is caring, sweet with an alpha male attitude. His alpha male attitude is not over the top but he can be bit overly bossy at times but does know when to back down when it comes to Kat. Really Kat knows how to put him in his place to get him to take it down notch. Due to an incident from his past he has to always be in control of himself. He wants Kat and he wants her bad but due to a bad incident in her life she needs to learn to be a fighter. He agrees to teach her to fight as long as she becomes his "Plus One" his bed buddy and that also means joining him for dinner events etc. They do not rush into the bed buddy part so quick as she has panic attacks due to a bad incident from her past and her last lover she was a basket case. Her panic attacks are not over the top just a fear in certain areas she needs to overcome. This is where his control really comes into play. While he is teaching her to defend herself it is making it harder and harder for both of them to keep their hands off each other. I love these steamy-cold shower-needed scenes especially when it comes to "Tap Out".

The layers about their past is well done, paced out nicely through out the novel. The writing is smooth and everything from their first meeting to being interested in each other flow nicely. It does end in a semi cliffhanger but nothing that I was 'OMG I need the next novel now". But I do want more of Sloane and after reading this I already bought the next 2 in the series. I enjoyed Jennifer Lyon writing style and to my surprise I have one of her paranormal novel Blood Magic (Wing Slayer Hunters #1) on my bookshelf. I also look forward to see how she writes in the paranormal department.

I am shaming myself for having not picked up this book sooner. I saw The Proposition floating around for some time now and I was definitely intrigued but, I had such a long TBR list. I finally had a break and was able to pick this one up and boy I am so happy! Sloane Michaels is my new BBF (book boyfriend forever) and I am so thrilled that there are two more books in this series. I have been a big fan of Jennifer Lyon's since her Wins Slayer Hunters series, so there was no doubt in my mind that this series was going to be just as good. I was completely floored by The Proposition. Some may call if Fifty-esque, and it is to a point but, it is so much more than another FSOG. Jennifer has brought alpha to a new level with Mr. Michaels and has completely captivated me as a reader.

Kat Thayne is a scarred woman. She has experience trauma and confusion and it cost her the life she had settled for. For me it was a terrible experience that Kat had but, I'm beginning to think it may have been the catalyst for amazing things to come her way. Enter Sloane Michaels. The night he lays eyes one Kat he feel a familiar pull to her but, can't place where he has seen her. When she dashes out of the room and follows her and ends up saving her from another attack. Kat refuses to play the "swoony, fall at her saviors feet" card. Instead the strike a deal. Kat will accompany Sloane to any events where a plus one is required/needed and Sloane will teach Kat to defend herself. But these two? I felt like I should be covering my eyes because they just might spontaneously start devouring each other in the middle of a public place. They have an insane amount of chemistry and it is some of the hottest that I have read.

When Kat and her parents and ex come to blows at her brothers engagement party she is forced to relive parts of her attack and make a choice between Sloane and her family. I can't really say I was surprised by the outcome, once you read more about Kat's past you'll want to applaud her like I did for her composure and courage. I have a feeling these two are going to be the best thing that happened to one another. They have such dark pasts but, they find the light in one another and I can't wait to find out their tribulations and experience their trials. Reader commentary: about halfway in, I really wish she hadn't tapped out :)

The Proposition follows a woman named Kat. She loves baking. She loves it so much, she owns her own bakery. While at a wedding where her killer wedding cake is on display, her and the entire room's attention goes to one man who shows up. There is an instant connection that Kat tries her best to ignore. But fate has different plans when tragedy strikes that night and the mystery man, Sloane, comes to the rescue. As grateful as she is to Sloane, she still insists on fighting her attraction to him. But when someone from her past shows up and wants answers about a past tragedy, she knows she needs help and Sloane is just the man to help her.

Well, this was one exciting read. It had everything I could want in a little over 100 pages. The story grabbed me instantly and didn't let up a bit. I love the build up. Something bad has happened in Kat's past, but she can't remember exactly what happened. But she has a disability now because of it. Her leg doesn't bend properly which causes her to limp all the time. Kat can't remember anything from that night, one person knows the truth. It is her douche of an ex-fiance David. He comes by to see what she remembers from that night while checking on her after the incident at the wedding. We get flashbacks of when they were together and David is not the greatest guy to say the least. We see some of Kat's fears come from him and what he has put her through. He is always putting her down and making her feel like she can't measure up. It gets worse after her permanent injury from that night. Her fears also come from her own family that treat her badly as well. They think that because she left the family business of working in science to become a baker is beneath them. She wants to be strong and be able to defended herself and not let her disability hold her back. Everyone treats her like a weakling. Sloane sees the fighter in her though and he will help her bring that fighter out. Both mentally and physically.

Kat was a favorite for me. She is a character that is very easy to relate to. She is constantly being put down by those around her except for a handful of people. She was quite the fighter even though she felt like she failed. I love that she just doesn't want to anyone fighting for her, not even Sloane. She wants to be able to stand on her own two feet. I love that Sloane brings that out in her. I love that he makes sure she knows she is in control. Whatever she wants, he will do it for her. I loved Sloane. He is an ex-fighter who is now a multibillionaire due to the gyms he has built. He has his own demons and we get a bit of that in this book. I can't wait to get the whole picture. I have a feeling I will need tissues for this.

This was a great read. Easily making it on my favorites reads of 2013. It is short, but very suspenseful and engaging. Lyon has done such a great job building this mystery. I am dying to start the sequel, Possession, especially with that cliffhanger. This book is so much more than just a romance. It is a story of getting past your fears and demons. I am officially in love with this series and I can't wait for more. Highly recommended.

The Proposition is an exhilarating start to The Plus One Chronicles series. Ms. Lyon wrote a story of two people who has had a difficult past and though they survived, both have not fully healed. Finding each other has just given them an opportunity to move forward and maybe giving themselves a chance at happiness.

Kat Thayne had learned to keep herself safe by avoiding crowds. She has found comfort in baking and keeping herself out of any prying eyes. Who can blame her? She was brutally mugged six years ago and again finds herself defenseless to another attack. Luckily, Sloane Michaels, ex-UFC fighter happens to interrupts and saves her. Sloane, the alpha male that he is, feels the need to claim her *cough* I mean protect her... from then on, he just can't stay away.

Right from the beginning, you know that Kat had great fears due to her past. She was determined to live her life in seclusion but when the opportunity came, she was more than willing to move on. I was intrigued on how Ms. Lyon was going to break her out of that shell. Ultimately, she had given her a powerful tool...Sloane.

Let me tell you, watching Sloane give her that power back was exhilarating and inspiring. And I have to say, sexy as hell! Oh yes, There were several panty-dropping scenes that just leave you with no choice but swoon over this bad boy. He's a hot billionaire UFC fighter for God sakes. As soon as the first scene where he takes off his shirt (to save Kat from muggers), I knew he belonged to my book-boyfriend-list. He is sexy, strong, possessive, protective, rich, determined and every other cliché you can think of that an alpha male can possess. Sloane Michaels is an alpha male personified and I love him!!!

Ms. Lyon knows what she is doing. She is not a newbie by a long shot. Having written several PNR and Mystery books under her belt which I totally plan to explore. Her work will definitely be an auto buy for me from here on. Speaking of which, The Possession (The Plus One Chronicles #2) will be out soon and THAT installment I expect to be good if not better.

The Proposition is the first book in The Plus One Chronicles by Jennifer Lyon. Both the heroine Kat and the hero Sloane are damaged by circumstances and they don't feel or want a significant other. Not to give too much away, but the moment Sloane sees baker Kat at a wedding - he knows he has seen her before...when she had her sweet sixteen party and he was a dishwasher at the event. Though Kat is haunted by a horrible event in her life, she tries to move on and owns Sugar Dancer Bakery. Sloane has also moved past his traumatic childhood to be become a very successful business and former UFC champion. You can feel the electricity in the air when Kat and Sloane are together - the supporting secondary characters add so much to this story. I loved this book and thank goodness have downloaded book two of this trilogy. Great job, Jennifer!

We begin with Kat, former rich kid now upmarket baker, at a wedding where one of her cakes is taking centre stage. Sloane Michaels walks in to the room as a guest and she is mesmerised by his commanding presence and so, it seems, is pretty much everyone else. He makes quite an entrance and this is how he is described.....

He looked like Death. Very sexy, very intriguing Death.

He's intrigued by her, thinks he recognises her from somewhere and prowls over to her but she's skittish and manages to squirm away and runs to her gay best friend Kellan who is waiting in the kitchen for her. As she and Kellan try to leave they fall victim to an attempted carjacking and Sloane, an ex-UFC champ, has followed them out and wades in and saves them. As he attempts to get to know her in the aftermath he offers her his `Plus One' proposition - they agree not to date, to be each other's Plus One at significant social functions and to have hot sex! No ties. No commitment. No emotions - purely a convenient agreement.

So, this is how it all kicks off and I have to say that there's a whole lot else going on too. The plot is multi-layered with Kat, her previous trauma, her current PTSD, her pushy family, her devious ex and Sloane, ex-UFC champ turned business man, his lucrative and successful chain of gyms, his difficult past, the death of his sister, his dying mentor and his overwhelming desire for vengeance just to mention a few which is why I was kind of surprised that this was released as a novella at just over 130 pages long. There's more than enough here to flesh out a full-length novel.

The result of this is that the author has to indulge in a lot of telling rather than showing and it's a little hurried because of this. I would rather have seen everything play out in a novel probably three times a long because there's a whole lot of story to tell here and it's a story that I was really enjoying.

I very much enjoyed Kat & Sloane and the pulsating sexual chemistry that was building between them. There may only be one actual sex scene but they share a couple of other scenes where they get close and pull away and this helps to build the anticipation well. I really did love Sloane - a tough, protective fighter that has fought his way up from rock bottom to be the successful man he is today and he never forgets where he came from and this is evident in the way he's helping others in a similar situation he used to be in.

Kat is a victim of her previous trauma, caged by fear from an attack she can't remember, suffering almost continuously from PTSD and flashbacks. There are people who would rather that she never recalls that fateful day. So, besides the intense relationship between Kat and the delicious Sloane, there's a whole lot of mystery going on too which is only partly revealed in The Proposition and the final chapters and the conclusion set up the series beautifully and I'll definitely be going back for more.

Kat Thayne was trying to be the perfect daughter until a brutal attack helpd her realise her happiness was more important. Kat dramatically changed her life taking a small measure of control where she could. We join her years later where she has found happiness professionally but not so much in her personal life, she still suffers from panic attacks. When her professinal life brings her into contact with Sloane Michaels she begins to realise just what she is missing from her life. Sloane has a presence that demands attention from everyone he meets, a former UFC fighter an self made billionaire he never lacks for female companionship. Sloane has a personal code, he likes women and enjoys sex but he doesn't like or need a relationship. Sloane saves Kat from a car jacking gone wrong and their lives becme entangled even more. When Sloane gives her a propostition, can she resist?

The sparks really flew between the main characters and I got swept away in the passion of it. I am so glad we don't need to wait too long to find out what happens next - I just got a new crush. Definitely one for the keeper shelf, I can see me reading this one again & again!

Sloan Michaels has only one thing on his mind and that is revenge. So why is it that ever since seeing Kat at a friend's wedding he finds himself focusing on her instead? He is sure of himself to say the least, stubborn as most men, and he always, ALWAYS, gets what he wants. That is until he met Kat. Now things are becoming a little more complicated because the more he is around her the more he loses sight of his ultimate revenge.

Kat Thayne was just fine hiding behind her bakery walls. She wasn't having flashbacks anymore but the anxiety was still there and so was the fear. That all changed in one moment. Now she finds herself actually agreeing to Sloan's crazy proposal. Of course the fact that he ignites things within her she hasn't felt in years could have a little something to do with it but he also ignites something else; the will to be the women she was before that horrible night and a means to do it.

Sloan and Kat might seem like oil and water in the very beginning but both are far from it. In truth they are more like gasoline and fire. Every time he is near, he ignites her passion to live, love, and become strong again. He gives her the courage and she is giving him a hard knock on his back side. She is a contradiction to everything he usually goes for in a woman and is now taking up every single waking thought he has.

This book was amazing and the next two need to hurry up and come out! Praise to the author for a book that had my heart aching, my toes curling, and my cheeks completely flushed. The character building was amazing, the plot flowed with perfection, and the cliff hanger was just enough to leave you wanting more.

Loved this!! But then again i love Jennifer Lyon!! I'd recommend this to anyone who loves Jennifer's writing as much as i do and anyone who enjoyed fifty shades of grey!! Sloane is an awesome badass meets billionaire and i'd let him plus one me anytime!! You can really feel these characters! The desire Kat has to prove herself as well as the desire she has for Sloane and the complete dislike for the jerk ex David!! I had to see exactly when the next two books come out and found myself disappointed it wasnt sooner!! Now i have to wait a month for the next and a whole five months for the last and let me say they cant come fast enough!! Absolutely fantastic book!!

The hero is Sloane Michaels, an incredibly hot, muscular, alpha ex-UTC fighter. He finally finds his ex-girlfriend, Kat Thayne years after she broke his heart, he wants REVENGE. I say, whats the problem because if I had such a man after me, I wouldn't be hiding! Oh, did I mention that he's rich?

I know nothing about extreme fighting so I was pleasantly surprised with the book even though I have kind of overdosed on the steamy and erotic. I think the reader will be pleasantly surprised.

This was my first time reading a book by Jennifer Lyon and I loved it. This is a short book but it captivated and drug me in from page 1, the story line is fast paced and kept me turning the pages. For a shorter book it really packs a lot of punch and you don't feel like you are missing the details. I still very much felt the connection between Sloane and Kat, the underlying emotions of each of their past as well as what they are building together and I am looking forward to jumping right in to book 2.
