I regret reading this book. It has a promising start, introducing many old characters such as Ferdy and Cogg and Martin. However, after reading the first few chapters, I began to wish for something more. It is incomprehensibly dull, with tiny patches of action that involve baddies that fight as well as rocks.Reminds me off Mossflower. The book has a slight peak when Martin and some of his pals are attemting to get out to a huge grouping off jagged rocks on the ocean that could be tense. From that point on, however, the story declines in quality. The raid on Lukes village is pathetic, with no actual description of the fight, just some characters returning home to find lotsa things dead. Consequently, Luke and some others kill another load of searats with ease and steal their boat to hunt after Vilu Daskar. [The big baddie]. There is a needlessly long and boring chase until, well you can probably guess what happens, and I won't spoil it for all of you out there who may still want to read this book, but please don't.

This book was absolutely one of the best. If you have read the previous books in this series, this book answers alot of the unknown in earlier books, such as you learn of how st. ninians came to be. It is a thrilling tale of how Martin the Warrior's father chased down the blood red ship to avenge a family members life. It was so thrilling and suspenseful, I couldnt put it down. I got it for Christmas, and finished it the next day, and have read it twice since. I would defineately recommend this to anyone who loves the Redwall series, and even if it is the first Redwall book you have read, it is and excellent reading experience.

This is my second favorite Redwall book. I have read every one and i HIGHLY recommend this one. Martin the Warrior is my favorite though. This book was great and i love the characters. I think Ranguvaar the squrril was great. Luke was awesome though it was sad at the end. I like how it was split into 3 books because you need to know how Martin knows all those things about his father that Beau the hare told him. So it tells yooou his quest to find his father and his birthplace. He finds Beau and the hare tells him the story of his father. This was a wonderful book. If you see it in a store buy it!

This was a good Redwall book, and I liked it very much. One of the reasons I liked it was because I cried, and I do not cry easily. It was sad because in the book his parents die, and if you've read Martin the Warrior you know that his grandmother, and the mousemaid he loved are dead as well. It was very sweet, to hear the story of his father, so that in a way he could finally feel connected to his family. I liked the fact that after so many seasons he was able to feel like someone had actually cared about and wished to protect him.

I don't agree with some people about Legend of Luke. This was definetly a great book, and well worth the hardcover price. Brian truly has a gift, and uses it well. Though, some plots seem to be repeating in the books, they're still great. I would recommend Redwall, (#1), Mattimeo, and Martin the Warrior-- the three I liked best. Happy reading!

I really like this book. You feel like you are Martin the warrior as he goes to reveal his past and his father's, too. When he gets to his tribe's caves no one is there except for Vurg his father's friend. It's quite an adventure. You should read it.

Brian Jacques really has a way of creating an enchanting world that you can really experience. I currently own the entire Redwall series and read them again every year. You'd probably think I'd get bored of reading them, but whenever I read it again, my eyes get glued to the page and I love all of the characters. Thank God for Brian Jacques. The Legend of Luke is his best yet!

Brian Jacques is an author who has written many stories in the same genre and this one is his latest. It is about Martin the Warrior (in the first part) and his journey to find out more about his father who abandoned him and never returned(in the second part) You should read all the Redwall tales and know of this warrior's legacy!

In this book, Martin learns what happend to his father after leaving their home on the North shore, but also learns more about himself. He, along with Trimp the Rover, Gonff the Mousethief, and Dinny Foremole travel from Mossflower to the north shores and the 'Arfship to hear the story of Martin's father, meeting many other animals along the way. Some important animals include Chugger, Furmo, and Folgrim. I'd say five stars way underestimates the feeling an avid Redwall reader gets from reading this book.

Okay, I've read almost all of the Redwall books and this is definitely one of my favorites. As most of his books are, this was an easy, enjoyable read with wonderfully developed characters and a timeless storyline. Following Martin, you find yourself as anxious as he is to discover the story of Luke, and I often found myself experiencing the joys and troubles of the characters in the book. If you're going to start reading Redwall, you should definitely start with this book.

This book, I think, is the greatest book in the saga. You always want to know what happens next. One night I was reading it and I was very tired but I couldn't put the book down. I like how it goes back in time and unravels the story of Luke and how his advetures wenr and how he died and other stuff you couldn't figure out just by reading Martin the Warrior or Mossflower. I higly reccomend this book and I think that Brian Jaques did a tremendous job on this one.

This is most definately the best Redwall book Brian Jacques has written yet! This is for all of us who were dissapointed that none of his books since Martin the Warriar and Mossflower were about Martin. This book has all of your favorite characters from Mossflower; Martin, Gnoff, Bella and more!Martin leaves Redwall with a small entourage; Gonff (of course), and a few other friends, to try to find what happened to his father, Luke. READ THIS BOOK!

Of all the Redwall books, I think this one is one of the most memorable. Not only are the events unusually staged and wonderful to imagine, they are also revealing of the history of Martin the Warrior anf his family. It is essential to the series. My ten year old adored it more than most in his beloved Redwall Series.

The book The Legend of Luke is about a young mouse named Martin who jouurneys with his friends to the northern shore, with hope that his father, Luke the warrior still lives. Brian Jacqes, the author, wants to fill your imagination with action, drama, excitment and adventure. I liked this book because it thrilled my mind. I couldn't put it down for hours.

I don't really understand how so much people can cry praise for this book. I just read it and feel that it had very little to offer. To tell the truth I would have NEVER picked it up if it hadn't been required for school.
To me "The Legend of Luke" seemed childish and dull... The storyline, if you can even call it that, dragged. The action was not exciting and it quickly got very old. The characters seemed two dimensional, not well written at all. I didn't connect emotionally with any of them. All of the songs, the slang that was used, and the way they always cooked such wonderful food bothered me as well. Perhaps I'm just too mature to read a book such as this. This book does not make you think about or question the world around you. The themes in the book were unoriginal. The book wasn't even amusing...

As I picked up this book, I was slightly apprehensive that it might not be as good as the rest, which I've all read, but I soon realized that it matched up to most, if not all the others, and by the time I'd finished, it was among my favourites in the series. It fills in the gaps, and answers the questions about Luke, Martin's father. This is a very good book, and I highly recommend reading it. You won't be dissapointed. Redwaaaaaaallllllll!

This was a great addition to the Redwall Series even though it wasn't what I expected. Luke was a warrior so I expected battles, etc. Most of it was travelling from place to place and wandering around looking for stuff so if you are looking for battle skip it. It was cool to learn about Luke though (Martin's dad). Some parts took forever to get through -- wandering along the river, etc. And only ONE Redwall feast! All in all it was a good book though.

A truely great story that will be praised by Redwall fans. The Legend of Luke is quite possibly the best since Martin the Warrior. A tale of a son in search of the father who left so long ago. This book will keep you reading till the last page, and weeping at the end. Learn of the fate of luke and his journey after pirates and corsairs to reap his revenge. This will be a book that fans will read again and again.

I just put one star to get your attention because it would stand out against all the 5 stars. This Book made me laugh, it made me cry and it made want to keep on reading . I think it is halarious when Beau (a hare), scares the Goreleeches crew out of their mind when he pretends to be the Sea Bogle. I also like the way Brian Jacques ties the story in with all the other books. I love the way he describes his characters. If you are a Redwall fan read this but DON'T READ THIS WITHOUT READING MARTIN THE WARRIOR AND MOSSFLOWER FIRST!

This newest book by Jaques really blew my sox off. The epic tale of Martin the warriorlooking for his father (Luke) is a really nice topic. Going back to Martins birth place was great. I like how this story was going on during the construction of Redwall Abbey. I really recommend this book to new readers.

I have been reading the Red wall seris sice they first came out. I have all of the the books in hard and soft cover and enjoy reading them over and over. Ledends of Luke has broght out the foggy background of where martin came from. Jacques tells the story elegantly. The only missin g link form the Redwall seris now is the story of the badger mountin, Salamandastron.

It has been probably 5 years since I last read a novel of Redwall. I picked up The Legend of Luke at the beach for my senior beachweek. I must say I can't remember another Redwall novel that was better than Luke. Brian really pulled it off this time. Characters from the novel Mossflower are revisited in this heroic tale. A must read for all Redwall fans. A+

The book was very enjoyable. There was suspense, thrill, and it was action filled. You could really relate to some of the characters. The plot of the story flowed throughout the whole book. It was neat to finally be able to hear the storey of Martin and his family when he was little. Hearing the story of Martins father Luke really put an edge to the story.

This is probably the best Redwall book yet, the good guy doesn't mind killing bad guys and he doesn't use that old 'it was self-defense' bit, and the bad guy is a genteel, evil mastermind who doesn't lose his temper or make stupid mistakes like the ones in almost every other book. Also, it follows the good-guys, so you don't know what the bad guys are planning every single minute.

Aside from Martin the Warrior, This book has to be one of the best redwall tales. It brings the history of Redwall back to Martin's father, telling of a gripping story. If you loved Mossflower, Martin the Warrior, or any of the Redwall books, you will be sure to enjoy this one!

I am amazed at the talent that Mr. Jacques (pronounced 'Jakes") has to be able to create such a perfect world, and keep it original through twelve books. Though I still like Redwall best, The Legend of Luke is an amazing addition to the wonderous series. If you havn't read any of the Redwall series yet, I implore you to do so.

I am one of the biggest fans of Redwall, having read each at the minimum of five times, and thought that this book was a bust. It was boring from the beginning little poem thing-a-bob, to the last sentence. I savoir each little diologue about even the most pointless things such as a baby talking or a mole speaking. Redwall was a great experience for me but this book was horrible. I wanted desperately to put it down but my loyalty to Redwall made me stay.

This was the most interesting Book yet. It finnally explains more about Martin the Warrior and his family. The sword dance was one of the coolest parts in the book. There was never a dull moment in the book, it was "I must read more" It was The best yet.

I really liked this book. Trimp the Rover hedgehog goes to Redwall Abbey. It's under construction. She helps build by singing a hauling shanty about Martin's father, Luke. Martin becomes depressed, so Gonff, Dinny, and Trimp take him on an adventure.
My favorite part is the song about Saint Ninian's.

Ho-hum. When I first began reading this book, I kinda hoped it would be more of Luke than Martin. Maybe if they just had the Prolouge of Martin arriving, the next two Acts/Books of Luke, and maybe a short-ish third Act/Book of Martin's reaction/journey home. And too many characters accompany Martin on his way to the Arfship, I think. Maybe just him, Gonff, Furmo, and Trimp, nobody else. The focus should be on Luke. His name's in the title, his name should be there more.

I thought the book was very well written, really one of Brian Jacques best. The book made me laugh, made me cry,it was an emotional book. It kept your focus at all times and kept you guessing. It was adventerous and was a lot of fun to read.

This was one of the best in the Redwall series. Though it lacked the puzzles found in the other Redwall books, it was exciting, had a strong plot, and took an in-depth look into the life of Redwall's greatest hero. In my opinion, buy this book!

This is definantly a winner! Me, having read all of the series two or three times, thinks this book is a great book. I love all the characters and the way Brian Jaques describes them. This book should be on any redwall fans shelf.

I undoutdedly thought that this book stunk like crazy. there was no action. No story line and the whole book just talked about how there is a guy named luke. I mean come on! I rest my case that this was a horrible book that I loathed emensily.
