Sigfried’s Smelly Socks by Len Foley is a children’s story reminiscent of his own amusing experiences with Becky and Sofia’s pile of unpleasant smelling laundry. Sigfried, the lead child character, has fun himself telling the story about cleaning his room and remembering where each stain came from in his favorite book. We are holding our noses and laughing along with him through each vibrant, colorful page of socks. This story of unpleasant smells cast in an amusing light that tells us it’s about time to do the laundry and chores!
Everyone can truly put themselves in his socks and enjoy creating delightful, silly childhood memories out of unpleasant but necessary household tasks.

Sigfried's Smelly Socks! is a fun picture book geared to children ages 3-to-7 years old. The author uses colorful drawings, photographs of smelly things like a banana and a pizza slice, and comedic rhyming verses to engage readers and keep them guessing what the next stain on the book could possibly be. Less than 30 pages long, Sigfried's Smelly Socks! is a near-perfect book for adults to read to children and share laughs together.

I liked that this book leaves of a important clear-cut message at the end while maintaing to be very funny and witty with its ryhms that'll still be able to gravitate towards kids. My only critique is through out the book, there are random realistic pictures like of a pizza, potato, etc. that are not hand drawn just like the characters so it kinda feels out of place. But other than that, I definitely would recommend this book to parents to read to their kids as well as teach them the message about this book that it leaves of at the end.

I thought the book was amusing and appreciated the rhyming style. It reminded me of a silly Dr. Seuss book. However, I thought some of the "smelly things" in the book were slightly overboard and could see some issues with it giving the smaller children "ideas". Purely from a mothers perspective I could see this being a fun enough book to push a child to putting socks in the toilet. My fear is the only thing that lost the book a star for my rating.

Sigfield’s Smelly Socks is not high literature, but it is a lot of fun. The pictures and text should bring laughs and ughs from the young audience to which the book is targeted. The twist at the end is amusing especially. Use it for a talk on book care and/or room cleaning
Disclaimer: I received the book in return for a review.

I actually really loved the art style of this book, which I didn't think I would. But once you get inside, the juxtaposition of the doodles against photo-real images is quite charming! The story is a little goofy, a little gross -- perfect for kids under the age of 10. I am positive that my niece and nephew would get a good laugh out of this one!

This is a humorous story about a mysterious smell that is bothering the narrator. It could be old food, dog pee, boogers, a dirty diaper, or a host of other things. But it slowly comes to light that the culprit is the dirty socks hidden beneath the bed. Each one smells differently, but they add up to big trouble and he needs to act fast to remedy the problem.
I like the book's use of rhyme to tell the story, and the mix of photographs with drawings to illustrate the story. However, I did not like the over-reliance on toilet humor in a book aimed at children who are just mastering their personal hygiene. Get ready for a lot of dirty diaper talk, dog pee jokes, and boogers.

The animation itself might have the kids giggling I liked the ending the best and the parts after the beginning were good, is it safe to say that this is a poem book as well? Maybe you can read this to motivate your kids to do all of their chores, one can only hope. I mildly enjoyed this book though you guys should give it a go

The book was illustrated very beautifully. My daughter and son loved the illustrations. The story started off very interesting with all the smelly things you find in the book. My son laughed and my daughter (under 1 year) stared at the illustrations and the pretty colors. The first part of the book is very descriptive and has lots of relatable smelly things. When the book gets towards the end and the socks. There were so many creative and descriptive ways to add to that section of the book. My son and I were very disappointed in that section. Especially, the fact he is a boy and smelly socks and smelly things are his specialties. Therefore, took off one start for lack of creativity towards the end.

Sigfried's Smelly Socks is a light and whimsical read that is sure to become a bedtime family favorite! Great for children under 10 years of age, and especially great for boys!

Lots of vivid & interesting images as Sigfried describes the many, often gross, things that have been either spilled on, or left in his book.... and he wonders why it smells!

Though not much relation between the smelly book and the smelly socks, the ending is funny and unexpected.

This book is extremely silly! Sigfried's book smells but do his socks smell worse?
The illustrations and rhyme keep young readers engaged. Siegfried does not place all the blame on others for the condition of his book, which is a good lesson for children.

I really enjoyed this book and laughed as I read it.

I thought this book was hilarious! There's some toilet humor, and I think kids will love it! I'd recommend it to fans of Walter the Farting Dog for the grossness or The Book with No Pictures for the silliness! It's definitely a laugh-out-loud book that you'll want to read over and over again.

nb: I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The gift did not have any bearing on my opinion or review of the book.

What a fun book! My children and I really enjoyed Sigfried’s Smelly Socks! The very discriptive journey that Sigfried takes us on through what’s on the pages of his book is something to look forward to on every page! My children and I loved the illustrations and the messes that were on each page. We found ourselves laughing and excited for what was on the next page. It is a wonderful learning tool for young readers to paint the pictures of the story in their minds as they read! Great book!

This is a really cute book for young children. I would especially recommend it for little boys as they usually love gross and smelly things. This book will have parents laughing along with their kids. The illustrations are colorful and the story is told in rhymes.

I loved the increasing grossness and incorporated photo images with the illustrations. Reminded me of scrapbooking. The story line was hilarious and I imagine my 4 and 6 year old boys would love it. I rated it a 3 for the illustration style which was not my cup of tea. It seemed a little rough, elementary and unrefined. There is definitely potential here, though!

Children around the world can use the tale of Sigfried’s Smelly Socks! to help build and strengthen their reading abilities. The author presents a good use of rhyming words and makes it easy to incorporate sight words for preschoolers and rising kindergarteners. This an all around pleasant family book that will be talked about and referenced to for years to come and passed down through generations.

I found this book to be extremely fun, silly, and full of great pictures. It gets the imagination going. I found myself picturing these smell and making faces as I read the book. I believe all ages will really enjoy this story as Sigfried goes through all these horrible smells to find the culprit. His socks smell so bad they burn the hair off his head. Great book to read to the little ones.

This children’s book Sigfried’s Smelly Socks by Len Foley is amusing to read despite the reader's age. The vibrant pictures of all the objects found inside the book make the reader eager to turn the next page. Each character in the book adds to the central smelly narrative of the story. The story is told in rhyme, making it reminiscent of Dr. Seuss' books, and uses strong verbs and adjectives in each couplet. Overall, the story is a quick read and targets younger children as its audience.

Sigfried's Smelly Socks is a humorous tale about a young boy and the mysterious smells that plague his book and his socks. You and your children may giggle at some of the absurd smells young Sigfried comes up with. I would recommend for children about 5 years old and younger.

Sigfried’s Smelly Socks by Len Foley is a funny children’s book that blends animated images with real life yucky photos to tell the story of main character Sigfried and his varied smelly encounters in the home with his family; none of which compare to the heaping pile of old socks beneath the bed. I love that Foley weaves the clean-up message in an interactive way; almost every page triggers a chuckled remark. This book is one you want in your collection.

Sigfried's Smelly Socks is such a gross, goofy and relatable tale! This children's book takes us on a stench-filled journey through the pages of a book with too many stains and scents to count. The main character, Sigfried explains how the nasty smudges in the story came to be with cute rhymes and lively cartoons. If you aren't too keen on bathroom humor, this book might not be your cup of tea, but it is full of fun imagery and is sure to make a child both chuckle and learn.

"Sigfried's Smelly Socks" is about a boy named Sigfried who seeks to discover why his book smells so bad. He finds increasingly more gross and hilarious items between the pages, and takes the reader on his journey with characters like his sister Piper and his Uncle Kato. This book was fun, filled with vibrant, intriguing illustration, and guaranteed to get a giggle out of anyone!

I like the way the author used realistic pictures along with drawings to illustrate the story. This is a cute and funny story as I turned the pages I could not wait to see what else Siegfried`s blamed the smells of the book on besides his smelly socks. Great read over and over again thank you

I thought this book was a fun and clever children's book. The gross subject matter may turn off some parents and I wish there were more illustrations in parts of the book but overall I thought it was cute. The rhyming doesn't feel forced in most places and the mixing of realistic images and cartoons was great. Overall good book though not perfect.

There is an intriguingly disgusting smell coming from somewhere in Siegfried’s book, and he is determined to find out what it is that stinks.
My daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It has bright colors and quirky drawings coupled with real-life objects. A fun story ties it all together and makes it a delightful experience - especially for younger kids.

Sigfried's Smelly Socks! was a really fun book to read to my kids. They actually started sniffing each of the pages! Obviously, there was no actual smell, but that didn't stop them from wrinkling their noses in disgust. They made me read it 3 times the first night alone!

This book is a great book for reluctant readers, particularly boys. It has all gross items that kids love. It invites interaction through the questioning, rhyming text is good for vocabulary and it is actually a great starting point for kids to write about things they know. Gross can be fun. Books can be nonsensical and fun. They don't always have to be sensible. This is a fun book.
