Ten Timid Ghosts (Read With Me Paperbacks)

My daughter checked this book out from her school library & my son loved it so much we had to read it 3 or more times a day for the whole week she had it. He would even read it to himself. He was so mad when she had to take it back & kept asking about it so I decided to get it for him for Easter. Hands down it was his favorite present. This is a very cute story & an easy read for beginners.

I have been teaching preschool for 22 years. This is the best Halloween book ever! The kids love it--especially the repeated refrain. If you have any Spanish speaking students, order it in Spanish, too. I think it is even funnier in Spanish. We read it in both languages every year. A+ book!

I like the book because of its drawings (quite detailed yet perfect for children), it is colorful (yet set in a dark haunted house), is very Halloween-ish (yet not scary for the little ones), is a teaching book (counting backwards from 10 to zero while learning rhyme words on every page) & without consciously thinking about it, is a story against bullying! The witch scares (bullies) all ten ghosts to leave but in the end they take back their house. The final page shows the ghosts in the haunted dancing and handing out candy to Trick-or- Treaters. A happy ending fitting for Halloween. The witch is flying (away) high in the sky.
