Damien Montgomery continues his role of fixing the troubles of other worlds. This book, whilst complete in itself, does have references to the previous book & characters. It even hints at a larger scheme in operation, and at least a few more books.

Please read books one and two first. While not essential, they provide a good background. I really appreciate the character development in this series. Our hero is more mature and seems to be believable beyond genre norms.

Imagine a story that is about Space Warfare using MAGIC- FASCINATING. Lots of action and adventure. The most likeable Characters. Mystery, intrigue, warfare, romance and magic in one great adventure story. MUST-READ.
Wizard Defiant (Intergalactic Wizard Scout Chronicles Book 1) :: Judgment of Mars (Starship's Mage Book 5) :: Stellar Fox (Castle Federation) (Volume 2) :: The Forgotten Engineer (Athena Lee Chronicles Book 1) :: ONSET: My Enemy's Enemy (Volume 2)

*Note: I received a an advanced reader's edition of this novel in return for an honest review.

Voice of Mars picks up the story of Damien Montgomery, Hand of the Mage King of Mars, some time after the end of the last. Damien has had time to really grow into his new role as a Hand, and this novel starts right in the thick of the action as Damien is called to take care of a terrorist threat on an agricultural planet.

I love Voice of Mars because it is as much a whodunit mystery as it is a military space opera. Damien has to punish guilty (as soon as he finds them), save innocent (as long as they really are innocent), and deal with people from his past all while trying to avert a potentially civilization ending interplanetary civil war.

One thing that I found lacking in Hand of Mars was that Damien had the romantic escapades of a common houseplant in that novel. Thankfully, Damien gets more action than my Ficus in Voice of Mars.

The only thing that sort of bugged me in Voice of Mars is that the end leaves us with a rather major tease of the future novels with no sequel as of yet.

All in all Voice of Mars turned out to be exactly what I wanted even though I had completely different expectations going in. I was expecting a grand military space opera with epic space battles and grand magic. What I got was a rather satisfying mix of mystery, action and intrigue with just the right sprinkling of romance to spice things up.

Frankly if you have like the previous two novels in the series, you will love this one too. Voice of Mars is everything Hand of Mars was and so much more. I really can't wait to see where the story goes next.

The bad thing about reading books written by Glenn Stewart, is that they keep your attention too darn well.

Every extra waking moment that I had, was spent reading this darn book. The one nice thing about his books, is that they are pretty much stand alone, but if you start with book number one and read forward, you'll understand more references, including the one made at the end of this book. Without having read the previous books, you will not have a clue what the importance that statement meant at the end.

Please start with book one and work your way forward if you're a new reader. Thank you Glenn for all my lost sleep.

Glynn Stewart is weaving a web of mystery and magic that keeps expanding across each book. It's worth reading the books in sequence. Stewart leaves a careful trail of hints of things to come. I can't seem to put these books down! KU author rankings have lost their integrity. This has been well documented for over two years. Basically its 'robo-click' companies hired by, well, anyone whose willing to pay. the store pays out depending on those clicks rather than pages actually read, thus rewarding this blatant abuse of the system. The only way to judge if a book is worth reading is by the amount and content of the reviews. Please join me in making a point to leave reviews for great books!

Going to finish this soon probably tonight, 62% done. I've really enjoyed this series so far and would recommend it easily. But…

Imagine this scenario, a coach sees a tape of 2 members of her tean bullying a member of another team, she didn't know this had happened. An hour later she sees a tape of two kids on the other team bully one of her kids, decides the other teams coach has declared war on her. And she decides to go beat the other coach up. Then imagine it happening 5 more times to her, the other coach, and their referee. They all keep reacting this same way, these smart and savvy people.

That's essentially the story so far, and it's tiresome, unbelievable, and irritating.

Damien Montgomery is sent back to his home system for the first time since he left years before. He is now a Hand of the Mage King. There is a possible civil war brewing between his home system and a neighboring system. Damien's ex-girlfriend is in charge of the defense force in his home system now, and her grandfather is the Mage-Governor! Can he be unbiased enough to do his job and stop the civil war, before it tears apart the very foundation of the Protectorate?

I enjoyed this book immensely! I love how Glynn uses magic and technology, to create a wonderful universe. The characters he creates, and the dialog in the series are awesome. This book has tons of action, intrigue, and magic. I really loved it, and I can't wait for book four to come out!

In Voice of Mars, Hand Damien Montgomery goes back to his home world when the ruler of a neighboring system accuses them of piracy. Of course, the situation is nowhere as clear as it first appears. Old friends come back into his life, war threatens, and it is up to Damien to try to resolve the situation before things get completely out of hand.

I am finding that the real problem with reading this series is that I don't want to put the book down and go to sleep. I have to force myself to turn out the lights because otherwise I am so into the action that I will keep reading until the wee hours.

Disclosure: I received a free electronic copy in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

With that out of the way, I'll point out that I reviewed the others in the series and enjoyed those as well! This book continues the story of our favorite starship Mage turned Hand of Mars. In this story, he is tasked with investigating what appears to be a guerilla war between two systems. The story is original, the predicaments and issues are believable and there is the introduction of elements that foreshadow upcoming books. I look forward to the next one in the series!

While Glynn takes plenty of time to use his fancy scientific words, explanations, and descriptions, he takes very little time to describe the internal character, thought process, and emotional development of his main character, Damien Montgomery.

Hoping this improves, but I still have not changed my opinion that I wouldn't pay for these books, and am only completing it because it's on Unlimited, and I'm a completionist.

A small disclaimer before I start my review: I was given a free advanced edition to leave a fair and unbiased review.

I have been following this story quite closely for months now and was thrilled by the next installment. Damien Montgomery is a dynamic character that is not needlessly overpowered but not a weak and ineffectual character.

Without giving away too much of the story - I'll simply say that Glynn Stewart has again crafted a story that is not formulaic, contains new ideas, and captures the minds of those reading. You can be sure that you will feel like you are along for the ride instead of on the outside looking in.

This part of the series is more of a set up, it seems, for the rest of the series. It contains a lot of plot building devices and intrigue so dont make it the first one you read! It has everything, though, that makes it amazing.

The plot and characters of this book were as interesting as ever. However, for the love of God, someone run a search and replace on "said softly/quietly" and delete that crap from these books. Every person in the future apparently is only capable of whispering! It's so pervasive that it becomes more distracting than typos would be. I've never seen anything like it. I'll finish this series but after that I'm done with this author. Madness.

Jump Mage, Hand oh the Mage King of Mars, Damien. Montgomery, returns to his home world, Sherwood in this episode. But it is not a joyous homecoming. Unexplained attacks are occurring between two neighboring worlds and people are dying. As t by the Mage King to solve the situation and avoid a war that could threaten the very existence of the Protectorate, Damien needs every bit of his now formidable mage powers he has developed-as one of three known Rune Scribe Mages in the Protectorate.

Thoroughly enjoyable read. I've read the other tow in this series as well. Well developed characters with a few plot twists. A good space opera novel. It helps if you read the series in order so you see the development of the character. Well written , good character development. The only problem was it kept up late at night more than I wanted to finish it to see what happened.

Nice that the main character has developed more of a personality and really gets to kick butt throughout the book. I find the pace/speed of events and descriptions by the author has gotten better with each volume. Without adding too many spoilers, I find that there is a good mix of a sci-fi and magic. Can't wait for the next installment.

I have enjoyed this series from the first book. Well written with humor and interesting and believable characters. What a novelty the 'hero' of the series is not a strapping six footer but a physically unimposing guy with a strong moral compass which he needs as his abilities and responsibilities increase. The mixture of magic with science fiction is well done, not too fantastical but with limits to what magic can achieve for most mages at least. I will be buying this book even though I had the opportunity to read it in advance in exchange for a review as I will re-read the books in time. I read it in a day.

I like the story line and enjoy reading these books. There are subtle flaws in character development: the main character develops slowly and the others mostly don't. I still find that I can accept the premise and am engaged to read the next book each time, which is no small praise.

I have read the whole Mage series. These are excellent books. The third is, in many ways, the best. It is intricate, well thought out, and very interesting. Mr. Stewart is rapidly becoming my favorite author. I recommend the series

I read all three books of the Starship Mage series and can't wait for more. I assume the next will be the sword of Mars and will achieve a climax of sorts, foreshadowed by books 2 and 3. Book 1 started a bit slow but ended up good. Books 2 and 3 were good.

This book is third in a series and depends heavily on information presented in the earlier two books. It is well written, proceeds logically, and is absolutely captivating. But, read the other two first!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I am, very much so!, looking forward to the next installment in this series. I feel that this series is structured well enough to become the next "Harry Dresden"of science fiction.

Why do good writers sometimes ruin their inspirations by attempting to conform with some political view? I was very disappointed to see homosexuality presented early in this book as if normal. I feel somewhat betrayed as the previous books in the series stayed with edgy sci fi and no obvious political agendas.

This is a fantastic book in a most wonderful series. I downloaded the first book on a whim (it showed up in the 'books you might like' section on my kindle) and then ended up getting the other two as well shortly after.
