Fantastic book that includes some of the most creative marketing tactics you won't learn anywhere else. Thanks, Maria, for being willing to share what has made your husband, Drew, and yourself so successful!

This book blew me away. If only I had this 5 years ago, though it is more than that, as there is a ton of information I didn't even know to look for\. One of my friends let me read some of this book on her Kindle. Before I finished the first page I ordered the paperback, as this is one of those rare books that you need to read and re-read Filled with ideas, real life examples and information that is amazing to have in one book. I have ordered almost every "get rich with art" and "how to sell art" book, that looked semi-legit. I can now throw all of those away. What I love most about this book is the importance Maria puts on mindset and staying positive. It's also cool, as she is married to and manages the career of Drew Brophy, who is one of the top selling (thanks to Maria) surf artists in the world. If you are a good artist and not making $, this book is your answer. I will add to this review after reading it a few times.

Maria's approach to educating artists on the business side of art is practical, encouraging and easy to follow. Her holistic services including one on one consultations, free email newsletter, website and other digital support products have given me the confidence to feel like I almost have a personal guide to navigate the challenging parts of the art business world. The book is a perfect culmination and expansion of everything she talks about and much more--it is jam packed! Her advice is not just philosophy, but helpful and realistic suggestions to increase your income right now. A must have for every working artist. I have purchased these by the dozen to provide in my workshops to other artists because I believe in Maria's message so much.

This book is amazing thus far and having only read to chapter nine, I have seen results already. The chapters have worksheets or exercises that make you think and develop a plan as well as a way to put them in action.

By the time I finished reading the ninth chapter, I had spoke to several people which led to a possible opportunity for a company anniversary, as well as, being able to set up my stuff free of charge at a boat show with one of the exhibitors at the show.

If you follow this book you will see immediate success and the way in which this Maria explais it is empowering and easy to understand.

I highly recommend this book to any aspiring artist who wants to learn the business of art.

Many people nurture the dream of successfully bringing their art into the world and earning a living in the process. This book shows how it can be accomplished.
Via the well-crafted chapters of Art Money & Success, Maria guides us first inwardly (because mindset is so very important and unless our psychological compasses can be relied upon, we may not end up where we intended to go) and then outwardly: in the process of finding ways to earn money from artworks, Maria shares the many challenges, revelations, successes and pitfalls that she encountered in over two decades of working with her artist husband Drew.
As I see it, Maria is the best ally that an artist could have.

Each chapter covers a different subject to study and master - these pillars of knowledge will serve the reader in other departments of life beyond the business of creating and selling art (e.g. the advice pertaining to Negotiation, Mindset, Networking, etc).
There is so much actionable material in this book that even highly established practitioners will discover strategies that could augment/enhance their existing way of operating and magnify the value of their works.
The value of this material to an emerging artist or debutante is potentially huge - when projected into their future - as long as they ACT on what they read.... which brings me to an important point:
This is a book that MUST be acted upon: it presents a receptive reader with so much knowledge that to not follow through on it would leave some pretty existential questions in the reader's mind... Questions to which the book, incidentally, has answers!.. It's more than just a Book: it's also a Mirror in which a person can perceive a reflection of their desire to make their art a success.
So, I heartily recommend that people involved in any creative endeavor read this book, work through these valuable pages and implement the advice to be found here.
In the business of making a living from your own artwork, the trajectory of the journey and the ultimate destination are both decided by you.

Whether you are beginning a new career as an artist or many decades into one as I am, I can highly recommend Maria Brophy's "Art, Money & Success". This is the stuff that should be taught in all art schools whether academic or commercially oriented. With hard won knowledge gained through managing her husband Drew Brophy's artwork she truly understands the business of art. In her book, she covers dealing with clients and galleries to licensing issues and really, everything in between. But for me her counsel on how to comport oneself with strength and integrity was most affirming and reassuring. In a down to earth and assessable manner she outlines the practical and mental tools you need to make a critical and financial success of your art.

Maria gently and confidently pushes her ideas of empowerment, possibility and prosperity into your mind. Her words spiral into your subconscious and take over your system: it changes you. After reading this book you believe that it is okay to want to earn money with your art and that building a lifestyle that makes you happy is possible. It is not primarily about inspiration per se but combines "soft" aspects of having the right mindset with concrete exercises, scripts, examples and how-tos. It touches upon client contact, licensing, and marketing (etc.). Before reading this book and following Marias blog and newsletter, the idea of growing my own art business was a mysterious and abstract idea and the process of getting there a giant black box. Through this book, I gained a clear picture of the tasks that being a professional artist entails. It paints a clear picture of how much dedication, purpose and action-taking it takes. Maria and Drew Brophy lead by example, showing and sharing their experience of building and art business that goes with their values and encouraging other artists to do the same.

This book has changed the way I think about everything! Maria talks straight and gives real life examples of how you can build a successful art business. What I love most about this book is she actually steps you through what to do. She asks the tough questions. It’s like having her there to coach you personally. If you are an artist who is looking to level up this is the book for you!

This is by far one of the best books and resources for Artists looking to sell their work and have a creative business. I have been following Maria and Drew for many years whilst i have been trying to find my own creative business. I have been part of many masterminds, programs for artists looking to work out how to sell their art but at the end this always has fallen short in a practical sense of applying this in the real world.
Art, Money, Success I would have to say is one of the top book's / resources I would recommend to my friends that gives you no fluff practical examples and information that i have been looking for all these years its great balance between mindset, tasks & practical business information that can be applied in a creative business that makes sense and works - its like i have finally found what i have been looking for all this time. Thankyou for writing this book. Now i am going to go and read it again!!!

Practical, applicable and refreshing. Being new to the art world this book has already smashed a few misconceptions i had before they became a problem. Value your time, be clear as glass on what you want, know your self worth and own it. Sounds simple but in practice it’s easy to stray from those things when your new. It’s easy to undervalue yourself and lose confidence. If anything this book has motivated me and set some simple guidelines for what my attitude toward the art business should look like.

I was lucky enough to meet Maria and get a signed copy of Art Money Success last year. Prior to that I hired her on several occasions for art licensing advice. I read part of the book but didn't really get into it until recently while traveling on vacation. This is a must-read for any professional or aspiring artist! It is full of tested and practical advice, based on years of experience that Maria has acquired while successfully managing the career of her husband, artist Drew Brophy. I have really enjoyed the book and will refer to it again and again! Thanks Maria!

I have been on Marie Brophy's weekly e-mail group for almost two years. I have saved each e-mail and refer to them regularly. She has responded to questions, and her book pieces all this information together in an inviting and successful and comprehensive format. I have recommended her e-mail communications and her book to dozens of fellow artists in Silver City, NM, which is a rich community of artists of all genre.

Loving your book. It has opened my eyes to the multitude of opportunities that I hadn't thought of. I especially loved the saying "I reject that negative thought" - I have used it 1000s of times already and find it really works.
