Paullina Simons is one of the most amazing talented authors. Somehow, her books always make me cry. They are beautiful and soppy but also terrifying in the same way. I recommend to ANYONE to read Tully and also The Bronze Horseman as they are the most amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing books you could ever read!! As soon as I borrowed it from my friend, I had to go out and buy it, its the type of book you can reread and still feel the same emotion as you read the first time. I love this book and it deserves a hell of a lot more than 5 stars.

I cannot believe how many people so strongly enjoyed this book. It is slow, unbelievable and incredibly depressing. Perhaps for readers who have not experienced Tully's difficult type of life it seems exciting and moving, but for someone who has, it is painful and unimportant. This book does NOT present an inspirational character that can show women how to be strong and move on through terrible experiences, but rather a heroine that is selfish, wallows in self-pity and uses her unhappy childhood as an excuse to be a self-centred and manipulative woman. From a literary point of view the book is well-written but the content is waffle and at times comes close to torture. However it is worth reading simply to see for yourself what all the hype is about.

This story left me depressed and frustrated. I felt compassion for Tully in the beginning, and kept reading, waiting for the book to show Tully rising above her abused past, but by the end of the book I only felt sorry for the 'victims' of Tully's selfishness and destruction. If only there would have been a few more silver linings in the never ending dark clouds. It is an interesting depiction of what it would be like to care about a person who comes from an abusive past.

I started reading Paullina Simons with The Bronze Horseman. I LOVED it, so wanted to find more of her books. Had to track down Tatiana and Alexander, and The Summer Garden, to finish that trilogy, but it was worth it. Then, I wanted to read more by this author, so got Red Leaves and Eleven Hours from the library. The library didn't have many of her books, so I got The Girl in Times Square and Tully on-line. All have been excellent reads. Very captivating. I don't want to put them down, and I feel sort of sad when the books end. I just want the story to continue!

Picked up this book about two years ago while browsing a library. Never wanted it to end, the characters were so magnetic. Would recommend it to anyone who enjoys "human interest" stories or, for that matter, anyone who breathes

Working in a library branch, I see many books come across the desk. After picking this book up, I could not put it down. I became involved in the character's life by taking joy in her ups and sadness in her downs. The author was great in conveying the story through Tully's eyes and gave me a lot to think about even after the story was over.

After reading The Bronze Horseman series, I had high hopes for the same enjoyable reading, Unfortunately it wasn't to be and although I persevered, I still haven't finished the book. I got 2/3 the way through and decided I couldn't wait anymore to see if anything happened. Disappointing.

After reading the many glowing reviews on this book as well as the negative ones I expected a reasonably engaging read. I struggled on through the first half growing more and more irritated with the lack of depth in the characters. I found the insertion of unexplained events perplexing and then annoying. I am three quarters through and find that I just can't be bothered to continue with the train wreck. Other reviewers have written about Tully loving two men. Paulina Simon writes that the first two men love her but Tully responds only on a sexual level.
The writing style strikes me as uneven and not much of interest happens. Kinda like a T V soap. Take away the characters sleeping with each other and it's extra boring.

This was a good book overall. I was very frustrated with the characters in the book but to me this is what makes a book good. Tully for one was a very FRUSTRATING GIRL!!!! I wanted to put the book down but I wanted to see how everything was going to end up. I had to give this book 3 stars. Although it was a good story I don't think it need to be so long. There were a lot of parts that were really drawn out and boring. In my opinion this was not Paullina's best book.

Don't let the "professional" reviews turn you away from this book! This was one of those books that has stayed stuck in my brain long after it was over. Maybe you had to have "been there" a little bit, for Tully's story certainly brought back memories of my own emotionally charged teenage and young adult years. I could understand Tully. I wonder what she's doing now! I loved this book.

This is one of those books where you immerse yourself in story and feel as though you are there. I couldn't put this book down and cancelled plans just to stay home and read it!
I was far too hooked into the story to notice any shortcomings in the style of writing or any other faults, which is just the way I like it!
Great read.

I never experienced all that Tully experienced. But I've felt all that Tully felt. Her disassociation with everyone. Her ignoring her own feelings. Her inability to believe in her own tomorrow. Her disbelief in herself. I am living that too, Tully. Natalie Makker, you deserve the best. I hope you find it. I hope I do too. Someday.

Great book! Tully was such a real person, you could especially feel all of the teenage angst! This was written in a great voice. I could really sense how emotionally confused she was. I'd give this book to anyone that likes to read!

Terrible book. Cannot believe that people didnt grow tired of such a weak main character. Poor Tully boo hoo. The writing must have been good though to evoke such a strong response but I was barely able to finish - I hung on to see if she grew a backbone but alas!!
