One dark night, after walking away in anger from her boyfriend, Evie is chased through the woods and ultimately kidnapped by three evil men (Jesse, Vaughn & Liam). They aren't ordinary men -- they're vampires and they are claiming Evie for their own dark nefarious pleasures.

As days go by, she remains their scared and reluctant captive. Evie struggles between embracing death and wanting to live to see her family again. More often, she is determined to stay alive minute by minute, hour by hour -- one day at a time. In order to survive she has to say and do things that will haunt her.

She is labeled a witch by her captors and two of the three want kill her almost immediately after they've had their way with her. Sometimes and somehow, Evie is able to get inside the heads of her captors and invade their thoughts and see glimpses of their most painful moments of their past. Jesse, the leader of the trio feels an unexplained connection with her and Evie makes every attempt to exploit that connection. Her ultimate goal is to obtain her freedom and go home.

This is NOT a love story. Very bad things happen to Evie and other unlucky souls who cross the paths of these maniacs. This is a very, very dark vampire story full of gore, rape, torture and death. It is not for the faint of heart -- but, if you can make it through to the end, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

I look forward to reading Book 2 because Kaia Bennett really knows how to weave a story that grabs you and keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Don't let the cover fool you, this is not a story of romance that ends in HEA. If romance is what you are after, steer far clear from this as you will be sorely disappointed. It is dark, dangerous and a thing of nightmares. It is a fight for survival. Vampires, a witch and humans collide in this book. But these vampires are not the sparkly or fairy tale princes we have grown to love. No, they are driven by bloodlust, rape and murder and this book is filled with all 3 in abundance. Very graphic and I repeat, dark.

I was at odds here deciding whether to give this 3 or 4 stars as this book is well written and those who enjoy very dark books, will most probably lean towards 4 or 5 stars. It will fill you with chills and make you pray you never meet Liam, Jesse and least of all Vaughn. Live or die, what would you do in order to survive?

Ends in cliffhanger

This book....this book right here... was on some other *ish. WAY UP on some other *ish. I had never read anything like it. It was very graphic, very disturbing,very dark, very emotive, very arousing, very introspective; very everything. There wasn't much plot which is the one downside of the book. It is an aimless, somewhat pointless adventure. But the author is really good and you will want to keep reading if you can deal with the content. I don't think I can say I 'liked' it, but it was intriguing. I finished it and I will read the second one.

First, this book isn't for everyone. It's dark. It doesn't seem much like a romance. I'm still not sure there was true romance going on with the characters. There's no niceness. There's no redemption. But this story...man oh man.

Second, I debated giving it 5 stars, because it's dark and not pretty and isn't wrapped up in a neat little bow. But considering how absorbed I was while reading, how I felt when I got to the ending, and how I can't stop thinking about this twisted little story, I realized it was all-consuming, which makes it a 5-star story in my world.

The descriptions in this book are so vivid that I felt like I was in most of the story. Well, that is if I was a witch who had been kidnapped by vampires. And these aren't your nice vampires who feel soft for humans. These vampires play with humans the way cats play with mice. For being a paranormal book, it felt very realistic. I love how Evie took control of the situation and gained the upper hand. I loved the ending of the book and can't wait to read more. When do I get more?? I need more...

Very dark and scary tale of survival. Not truly a romance in my opinion, and the ending had a twist I wasn't expecting. If there are some types of stories that are triggers for you, this is NOT the vampire book for you. I truly had sympathy for the vampires, but I wish they had been stronger individuals and made more of an effort to overcome the pain that caused them to become vampires. I would definitely keep reading to find out what's next for Evie, but this wasn't my favorite vampire book by far. I voluntarily read an ARC copy.

FIRST THIS IS A TRUE ADULT PARANORMAL BOOK LIKE NO OTHER THAT I'VE READ!!! Trust me it's not for the weak-hearted. With that being said let's dive into the mind of Kaia Bennett..one of my new favorite authors. This story begins with Evelyn (simple girl) out with her boyfriend Manny. Simple girl gets into argument with boyfriend and decides to leave the party. She feels something is off. She is OFF. With her treck through the woods she literally abducted by THREE not soo normal men. With human speed and with a need to want to bite all over her body. She is saved from an almost rape by someone she feels is her savior--Jesse. She taken and we are then introduced to Vaughn (so so evil Vaughn) and Liam. We are then taken on this journey with Evie....such a brutal torturous journey of what paranormal books consist of -- blood, sex, and violence! Through this journey Evie learns who she truly is and she learns that she has special powers..powers enough to bring them down. She derives a plan to bring them down and threw crazy circumstances she develops an unhealthy relationship with Jesse. Through the book I hated Jesse, I loved Jesse. Hell I rooted for Jesse who might've been more evil that Vaughn and trust me Vaughn was soo dark. Let me tell you toward the end you realize there's more to Jesse which leads him to make a difficult decision with Evie. The book ends with a freakin twist. An awesome twist. I freakin cant wait till the second book. IMPATIENTLY WAITING!!!!

This is no fairytale, glitter shining happy ever after , this book is truly dark gritty and some times horrifying but yet captivates you and keeps on pins and needles wondering if our heroine will survive. . This book is filled with murder rape torture... and it test the limits of what you would do to survive.. buckle up buttercup this ain't for the faint of heart and shows how ugly thisworld could be that most would choose to ignore .... i can't wait til next one is out

I have been waiting for this uthor to release something new after falling in love with her writing (Loose Ends Series, Sunday). I must admit DBTD is not what I expected. Between the graphic violence and dubious consent, it was, at times, hard to read. BUT, I could not put it down. I rooted for Evie as she discovered who/what she was and figured out how to survive. I wanted to understand Liam, Jesse, and even Vaughn, looking for moments of redemption in them. I am curious about Joshua, and wonder if he has a greater role in the future. Most of all, I am eager to know what happens to Evie as she struggles to embrace and understand both who and what she is...and I wonder if she and Jesse will find each other again. If they do. Jesse had better be ready, because Evie is not so innocent anymore! Looking forward to the next installment!

I really liked this book!!! It had the steaming hot stuff and I great story line. Alot of books have the hot but no good story line. I also loved that Bennett didn't have crazy restrictions on the vampires like can't go out in day light it made the story believable! Can't wait to read the next one!!!

Ms. Bennett has done it again. This book was soooo different from what she usual writes but I LOVED IT!!!!!!! I was kinda freak out at times and then angry and then groused out and then aroused????? This is the kind of book that makes you want to put down a couple of times, breathe and then pick it up again until its finish.
To me, I believed this was a love story. Evie and Jesse had feeling for each other. Their feeling wasn't romantic but sadist. I think that Jesse purposely made her immoral. It's not the end for Evie and Jesse. I'm looking forward to Shivers and Sins Volume 2, can not wait.

Evie is kidnapped by three evil people. They torture her and put her through hell. She is the wrong witch to mess with and with each act of torture, she only becomes stronger. This book is a very dark read with a very dramatic storyline. Drop by drop you’ll be hooked.

This is Dark, Gritty, Depraved, and absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Not for the faint-hearted. This book will take your morals, chew them up and spit them out in a bloody mess.
The writing is like poetry. There are so many levels to this story.
Prepare for a thrilling rollercoaster ride.
I'm waiting for the second volume!!!

After the " wtf", the "OMG", the "that's just nasty" I realized this book is dark... not dark for a moment. Not dark for a chapter. It's dark (for me). at points where I had to put the book down because I could not understand why Evie couldnt get away. It was more like she wouldn't and eventually just became an accomplice.

OMG this book was really, really, good. Poor Evie she went through a lot, but I think Jesse did what he did on purpose at the end because deep down he really fell for her and that would be the only way for them to be together. Felt bad for Liam but glad that Vaughn got what happened to him. Definitely a book that I would recommend.

OMG! Where do I start!? The story starts off with a bang with Evie being attacked in the woods by vampires. But these vampires and not your romanticized vamps. The vampires that gave taken her are evil incarnate. And the only reason she wasn't raped and killed in the spot was the leader of the devilish trio Jesse found her fascinating... For a witch. The story is full of torture and bloodlust. Evie has to live...she wants to live....and she becomes the very thing she hates...a predator. This is a must read...

OMG this book is a psychological masterpiece! The physical, emotional and overall possessions on Evie is mind blowing. At times it seemed long but I think it was because of the graphic imagery of the scenes.

This book.... no sparkles. That's for sure. Visceral and raw. Insane and psychotic and yet it makes perfect sense. I love it. The next book will be living on my wishlist until I can get my hands on it!

This book was fantastic start to finish. The characters were very well done and gave classic subjects a visceral feel to them. The author made you feel for the characters even when it was uncomfortable to do. Dark, multiracial tale filled with blood, sex and the emotional rollercoaster of morality.
