Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand how to grow mushroom by using plugs, spawn, kits, or clippings from existing mushrooms using a sterile environment with coffee grounds, straw, etc.....this was a very exciting book for me to read and get started growing mushrooms for personnel consumption.

I am not a commercial grower but still found much of the information valuable. I would have prefered a book with more information on hobby growing, but on the whole the book allowed me to see the constraints of growing and adapt to my own situation.

Well written, organized, this provides confidence for those growing mushrooms. I grow oysters and shiitakes and hunt chanterelles and morels. Have tried expanding to lion's mane and Hen of the woods and hope this book will help me be successful.

I absolutely LOVE this book. I have been reading all of Paul Stamets stuff. I'm hooked on mushrooms! The only thing better than Pauls books would be to take his classes. This book should be required reading in our schools!

This book is really easy to read and understand. Paul Stamets explains, in easy to follow terms, on how to grow, use and perserve mushrooms for commercial production and home growing. So many of the ideas in the book any home gardener can use. It also has many good recipes in which to cook the mushrooms that you grow. A great reference book to keep at hand when you need it.

If you are looking to start a mushroom business or intensify your hobby, Stamets gives a good break down of what possible avenues you can take and what it is going to take to put out a lot of mushrooms. It is the most comprehensive and easy to follow guides to mushroom growing that i have found.
