This is another excellent novel by Misty Evans, this time collaborating with Adrienne Giordano and bringing us a great murder mystery in the political world…
The synopsis is spot on in its description as we meet Justice ‘Grey’ Greystone who is not above bending the law to snare the bad guy and Sydney Banfield who will always put the safety of a woman in need over laws any day. Both are great characters and both admirable in their own way. I like a renegade cop/FBI agent and Grey definitely fits that category and when he sets his sights on Sydney as the perfect undercover operative for a covert investigation, he’s about to meet his match. I loved Sydney’s character, in fact everything about her, what she did for a living, how she did it, her attitude to life, even her secrets… she had many layers that she used to shield herself emotionally and I really liked that Grey had her figured out and was a match for her in every way. I liked Grey a lot, even more so when we find out his story and they had great chemistry as a couple, they clicked together effortlessly , complementing each other and it wasn’t hard to connect with them and their troubles and they definitely brought the sizzle factor.
I really liked the storyline and I said this about Misty Evans previous book…. They read like movies/tv series, I could just imagine watching this and loving it! We have a current serial killer case that has been dogging our male lead, he lost his job because of it so what better way to start a series off? I love those type of stories…a lawman who lost everything for a case & if he can only crack the case then not only will he get his job back but his life will be complete again….you know the drill and the romance juts adds to that, especially when the woman - who has finally evoked some feeling in him - ends up being a target and in danger – I love this stuff! The investigation that ensued was fraught with tense situations where rape & murder is a high possibility and they can only trust each other and when you are thrust into that type of intense relationship it explodes into the bedroom with the same intensity & need, giving the story a massive dose of hotness. It was just great! Everything about it, right down to the pacing & love of cupcakes so, I’m already looking forward to book two and Monroe’s story. 4.5*s

Definitely exciting and steamy, Stealing Justice was a heart-poundingly good read.
Justice “Grey” Greystone, formerly of the FBI, is on the trail of a serial killer and finds a connection to Sydney Banfield and her women’s shelter. Three of the women killed came from there and that can’t be a coincidence.
Sydney is a good person. She’s doing everything she can to protect women (and their kids) who’ve escaped a violent environment, and she’s seriously angry when it looks like some of those women have been turned into escorts and then murdered.
I enjoyed this book – it had an engaging plot and was exciting and intriguing. I liked that I wasn’t able to figure it all at right off, but kept following clues, just like the protagonists did. The authors did a great job with the actual writing, as well, making it effortless to read. There weren’t any odd turns of phrase or overt errors that pulled me out of the story.
The hero and heroine were well drawn, too, with powerful and mostly believable backstory. Both wounded, but strong and loyal. Despite Sydney’s reticence to become emotionally involved with anyone, Grey gets under her skin. I do think she was a little too aggressive early on with their physical relationship, and I found that a bit off-putting, but once they got to know each other better, the steamy side of this novel was thoroughly engaging. I honestly had some trouble with Sydney in the beginning overall – she’s pushy and sometimes irritating. I was a little surprised Grey was attracted to her in any way but physically (they’re forced into a kiss immediately after they meet, so the physical was evident from the start) because she’s pretty rude and obnoxious.
I loved Grey from the start, though, so stuck with the story even when I wasn’t in love with the heroine. I’m so glad I did, since things eventually smoothed out a bit with her as she became more trusting. And by the end, I was utterly on her side.
Overall, Stealing Justice was a solid start to what appears to be a new series. I enjoyed it, loved the authors’ voices and would gladly pick up another book.

I really liked the way the relationship between Grey & Sydney developed -- somewhat quick, but they clicked more than just physically. Sydney was tough when she needed to be, but let Grey into her life. They both had tragedy in their lives and they help each other heal, while taking down the evildoers. It wasn't hard to figure out who the killer was. The ending was great!! (If the escort "program" really exists like this in DC, it needs to be ended!)

In Stealing Justice by Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano, Grey is a former FBI agent now masquerading as a security specialist. He is also covertly working for the FBI and he's out to catch a serial killer.
Sydney works with women looking for a new start, sometimes a new identity, at St. Agnes Fresh Start for women. She has made her way onto Grey's radar when he connects that some of the murdered women had been through her program. Grey thinks Sidney is up to something...
Both Grey and Sydney have their secrets and pasts they struggle with...guilt and sorrow. They are also both driven to do the right thing which in Stealing Justice means working together as Grey convinces Sydney to go undercover for him to help catch a killer. Grey wants to be in charge, but Sydney has her own ideas too, and as they hunt a killer Grey struggles between the mission and keeping Sydney safe - from herself and from the unknown danger.
Grey and Sydney discover a connection between them that extends beyond the mission, a sexual chemistry that can't be denied, but is it enough? Is whatever is developing between them strong enough to survive after all is said and done - if Grey can keep Sydney safe? As the chase draws closer, no one and nothing is always what it seems.
Stealing Justice was a riveting, action packed hot read!! I loved both Grey and Sydney. Between the action, Misty and Adrienne tell both of their stories so that we come to know Grey and Sydney very well...we see what drives them, we see what holds them back. I loved going way below the surface of Grey and Sidney. Grey is Wow!! All alpha, determined to do what's right, no matter the cost to him or his career. Sydney throws a bit of a wrench in his plans, but in the best way. She's independent and strong willed...somewhat of a challenge for Grey to figure out! She certainly goes after what she wants which I love, no beating around the bush for Sidney! I really liked these characters because they were so real. The interactions between them were at times funny and at times so serious, they really complemented each other.
Misty and Adrienne have started this series with a bang and I can't wait to see what comes next! Stealing Justice is a well paced, captivating romantic suspense with some unexpected twists! I'd recommend Stealing Justice to any romantic suspense reader - you won't be disappointed.

I loved Stealing Justice!!! The adventure is edge or your seat! The characters are unique, and they really care! Sydney and Grey exude steam but there is not a lot of sexual detail; that is the way I like it. The team of Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano creates intrigue, romance, and characters that will grab you by the heart and never let you go!
She has run a women's shelter for years. If she has to break the law to make sure they are safe, she will take whatever chances she must to protect them.
He is ex-FBI. He has trouble fitting within the lines when it limits his ability to save these women from abuse and death. He is determined to catch the diplomat that he believes hides behind his diplomatic immunity to rape and murder young girls around the world.
When Grey discovers that someone connected with a women's shelter is placing young runaways into prostitution, he intends to use that link to trap the monster who has already killed more than one of of Sydney's lost ones. He will stop at nothing to make sure this murderer pays.
Sydney's strength and fire radiate from a character that not only Grey, but also the reader, will not be able to resist. When these two rogues meet, the combustion creates a lasting impression that will leave you begging for more.
I was thrilled to received an gift of this book from the Misty Evan in return for a review. I wish I had magical words to describe the talent that takes this book far beyond the typical "superspy/undercover cop and beautiful leading lady" mold that even many good romantic suspense novels fall into.
Congratulations to Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano, you have hit it out of the park.

Stealing Justice is the debut book in the Justice Team Series by Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano. Justice “Grey” Greystone has lost everything that mattered to him when the FBI released him for misconduct, yet he still hasn’t given up on the last case that still haunts him.
Sydney Banfield skirts around the law by assisting the abused and battered women that come to her shelter to disappear. She is haunted by her mothers past and what abuse has done to her family, and wants to change and better the lives of others.
The Lion has been on the FBI’s most wanted list for the rape and murder of numerous women who are associated with the movers and shakers in Washington. Grey realizes that Sydney is his ticket to finally getting closer than he’s ever been to not only catching the Lion, but taking back his rightful place at The FBI. Sydney must go undercover as a high price escort to get close to the Lion.
Stealing Justice was a fast paced romantic suspense, which kept me on my toes. The chemistry between Grey and Sydney was instantaneous, and dynamic. This wasn’t a cutesy, sweet romance but one that had the lead characters trading snarky comments back and forth between lustful thoughts. All of the characters both main and supporting were so well developed that you cheered for them to solve the case and catch the Lion. I wasn’t expecting where it turned but it was a wonderful ending. I was also excited because I am a D.C. native and the authors did a wonderful job portraying my hometown. Also you cannot go wrong with a man who brings cupcakes. I am looking forward to the second installment Cheating Justice which will follow Grey’s disgraced ex FBI partner Mitch Monroe.

I was ready and hungry for a good suspense romance definitely this one looked to fit the bill. First time reading this author so excited to check it out. From the very first you are introduced to Justice "Grey" Greystone who is security at a plush mansion called the Panthera that catered to powerful played. They also played with a escort service aptly named Smoking Gun because for the most part the girls that were in it. You find out right away also Grey is ex-FBI and that means he is more than yummy. This author right off the bat hooks you in with a murder of one of the girls and the suspect has done it before. Since he has been at it for 2 years now it would seem he is escalated his style. Next I am introduced to Sydney on a back country road trying to a woman and her child to safety from a abusive lifestyle. She works for a women's home that specializes in the rescue of abused and violated women and getting them on a different path. Wow so much going on right away you just want to hunker down because you know it has only begun to get juicy. So who should go to Sydney for help but no other than Grey because the girl that got it happened to have come through her place she worked at and was helped there and she wasn't he first one. Touchdown for this author because now I really want the meat of this story and I know I won't go away hungry for what I was hoping for in this story. Funny now FBI wants his help, he goes to Sydney for her help. Intrigue and mystery laid on thick they team up together after he tells her the meat and potatoes. Being she has a great character the author has given her she is a good match with him. The drama and action in this book is the kind that gets you going with the style of writing it would seem you are right along with them which make it so exciting while reading. Not to be forgotten though is the heat added to this intrigue filled murder story that at times the steam is so thick you could have some vegetables on the side while reading. This did keep me guessing and right on for that because if it would of been easy to figure out would of hurried through it for wrong reasons. Not to take away from the person who would want to read this it is a page turning till the time of the intense ending that has you if you are not careful you could fall off your seat. It is so enjoyable the interaction between Grey and Sydney who in my opinion was one gutsy lady throughout. Well now that I have had a very filling read that deserves the rating given would definitely read more of this author. Received a arc for a honest review.

My thoughts:
Most of what I have been reading lately has been paranormal and I have been missing reading a good thriller. Stealing Justice was just what I was looking for. Filled with extraordinary - but wholly human - characters, the story keep me on the edge of my seat. I went back and forth between Sydney and Grey as to who was the true champion. Both filled with their own inner demons and turmoil, they rise to the challenge that is the escort killer. Indomitable spirits both, I am left with the conclusion that they are equally heroic.
The story appeals on a variety of levels and the emotions run high throughout the entire book. The writing is fantastic; realistic, stark, vivid. I read for the entertainment value in a book, but am hard pressed to classify this as an entertaining read as that seems inappropriate; but I truly enjoyed it. I found myself lost in the lives on the pages, feeling their emotions and holding my breath as I waited to see if I was right about who the killer was and desperately hoping that they would figure it out in time.
I was thrilled with the ending. I am excited to read the next book, but satisfied with the way the first book finished. It seems that so many books end in cliffhangers and it was refreshing to find a story that could hold all the way through, finish in a way that felt right and still left you looking for the next book.

I just finished Stealing Justice by Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano. Let me just say that this book wasn't lacking in drama. No sir. Stealing Justice was an action back story that leads to a great beginning to a new series.
In the story we meet, Justice "Grey" Greystone who was kicked out of the FBI for trying to protect his partner and now he's trying to get back in the good graces. So, he decides to take matters into his own hands to solve the last case he was working on.
Sydney Banefield might be a perfect partner for Grey. Now Sydney runs a women's shelter. Her goal is to try to get women out of harmful situation and give them a new lease on life. However, some of her methods might not be quite legal. Basically, Grey approaches Sydney and asks her to go undercover to help him to catch a killer.
Overall, I thought the story was fantastic. It had enough suspense to keep me guess until the very end. I love the Stealing Justice had a natural flow. Both characters were equally match, and they seem to work well together. Some people might be a little put off Sydney sexual aggressive tendency, but that's mainly her defense mechanism. Anyway, overall a really good read. So, if you are looking for a fast action story, you might give Stealing Justice a try.

Insubordination, interfering with a federal investigation, harboring a fugitive, pick your poison. The reason was irrelevant to Justice Greystone, since it mean giving up his career with the FBI. Now the Bureau wants his skills back to apprehend a serial killer. And to trap him, Grey will need Sydney Banfield. Syd runs a women’s shelter and paints outside the lines when she has too. To save the women that come to her, she will do whatever it takes. And if her actions can prevent another one from being killed, then she is game and ready to go undercover. But this partnership between Grey and Syd is not without perils. As the Lion takes an interest in Sydney, Grey nearly looses his head trying to balance attraction, guilt and his need to put a predator away. When all is said and done, there will surely be more than intense chemistry between them. A suspenseful romance, with lots of action, desire and cupcakes.

I eagerly awaited the release of this book, the first in a new series – The Justice Team - so I jumped at the chance to review an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
No worries here about being honest. I LOVED IT! I was hooked from page 1! The hero, Justice “Grey” Greystone is a disgraced, outside the lines ex-FBI agent on the hunt of a serial killer at the highest echelons of political society. The FBI kicks him out but is secretly using him to hunt the killer. Grey tracks down the source of escorts to an abused women’s shelter and the woman running it, Sydney Banfield, a woman who doesn’t hesitate to go outside the lines to smuggle her women to safety. She is shocked to find a killer’s trail leads to her doorstep and agrees to go undercover to help catch the killer.
This book had humor, suspense, sexual tension and very high heat. It was fast paced, well plotted and great characters. I was hooked on page 1 and never stopped until the end. I often find myself figuring out the killer long before the end, but there were several plot twists and turns that kept me guessing, which I loved!

This was a very interesting book and the start of a new crime-fighting series. The characters were both battling their past while they tried to catch a serial killer. If you like strong women who go the extra mile to catch a killer, you’d like Sydney. She puts herself into danger time and again. Luckily, she has Grey to keep an eye out for her. He’s ex-military-FBI and their attraction was undeniable! This book also sheds light on mental health issues and the complexity that can occur. I’m moving onto book 2 right away!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. The overall story and mystery are good. I was really guessing until the very end as to who the killer was. I was confused in the beginning of the book and I felt as if I'd jumped into the middle of something and needed to catch up. Even though everything is eventually explained, I would have preferred if some of the back story and characters had been explained in the very beginning. The romance of Grey and Sydney moved pretty fast. While I admire a spunky heroine like Sydney, I was a little turned off by how aggressive she was sexually toward Grey in the beginning. Eventually though, the romance mellowed out and Grey's protective streak was sweet.
Overall, a good romantic suspense read.

Saying this book was excellent is an understatement. This was the first book I have read by Evans and Giordano and it definently won't be the last. The authors created a perfect match with Grey and Sydney. I felt that the characters were relatable which made the book that much more interesting. There is the perfect amount of suspense, romance, and humor. I went to bed lastnight with about 50 pages left to read and woke up eager to find out how the book ended. Evans and Giordano have written one of the most fascinating, suspense-filled, and romantic books I have read in a long time. Characters Grey aka "Fed Boy" and Sydney aka "Cindy" have been created and written about in such a way that chemistry between them explodes off the pages. The story line moves at a great pace that kept me absorbed, laughing out loud at parts, and trying to guess the real killer until nearly the end of the book. I can hardly wait for their next book to come out in the series! Oh and I'm craving cupcakes now, thanks ladies!!

I really liked this book. The authors keep the story moving from the first page. You can tell these authors have been around and know how to write a story that keeps your interest with suspense, plus, with lusty sexiness between the two main characters. I enjoyed the story and tried to picture what actors would play the two main characters. The female character Sydney (who is gorgeous) gets to dress up in very sexy evening gowns, night after night while they are chasing a killer, but they don't exactly know who the killer is but suspect who it can be. The book keeps you guessing all the to the end. Justice "Grey" (a very sexy handsome Ex FBI agent) that has to keep an eye on Sydney to keep her safe, but from a distance, which causes some (more sexual) tension between them, because Sydney is a strong minded woman and knows what she wants and goes after it. Her main objective in her life is to keep woman safe from abusive men, and she goes out of her way to do just that, even if that puts her harms way, which drives Justice nuts at times. You will enjoy reading this book a lot, and you will never look at cupcakes in the same light again ladies!

Count me in for this entire series! If the books to follow are anything like this first book, they are sure to be amazing! Sydney and Grey are wonderful characters, and when they were put together, it was perfect. They are each extremely flawed, which makes for two very interesting characters. However, when you bring their flaws together, they are fascinating. They have a constant clashing of wills in the book, which shows how persistent they are. Not to mention they are also fighting against the strong chemistry they have. Essentially, they have no one, but when this super suspenseful situation throws them together, they end up being very significant to each other. I don't want to give anything away, but the evolution of their relationship is exciting. I really liked their interactions in the training room scene, and the security system installation scene. Those seemed to stand out the most for me as big moments for Sydney and Grey, as well as the ending. That was a great ending! I'm excited to see more of Monroe. You can tell there is a lot to his story as well, and it will be great to see who can turn his world upside down while he is off the grid. Overall, Stealing Justice was great! It was interesting, suspenseful, and at times funny. I still laugh whenever I picture Sydney flipping off Grey. It had everything I could want in not only a book, but in a series too. Hopefully there are many cases in the future of The Justice Team!

Romantic suspense fans and FBI romance readers will not want to miss this adventure featuring plenty of emotion and action. I was happy to get an ARC of this for an honest review and while I am a long time fan of Giordano, I now plan to get Misty Evans' books as well as I very much enjoyed this seamless collaboration.
While Grey is a fired FBI agent, he is not ready to give up hunting down the Lion serial killer. Plagued with guilt over his teenage sister's murder years ago, his quest for justice is rivaled only by Sydney's. He is surprised to find this tough, sexy woman is willing to break the law to save the women and children she works with at a shelter. These kindred spirits team up to bait the Lion as Sydney goes undercover as an escort for high profile politicians.
Sydney has lots of secrets, and Grey is tempted but will not let her distract him with sex while he earns her trust. Their relationship is among the strongest traits in this book. While plenty of sexy fun happens, their feelings come off the page. Warning: You will crave cupcakes from the delicious descriptions in this book. Best get some to have handy while reading!
While the killer can be identified, plenty of surprises keep pages turning. Both Grey and Sydney act in unexpected ways to both themselves and to readers, adding another layer of depth and fun to this adventure. This is an excellent start to a promising series.

I'm always excited to see something new from Adrienne Giordano. This was a great read, and I can't wait to see more from this duo. If you like to be on the edge of your proverbial seat, great characters, amazing chemistry and just the right amount of sexual tension - this book needs to be added to your library immediately! Before reading Giordano's Private Protector series, I hadn't come across any romantic suspense that made me go "Yes, I want more!" now I grab every title that I see her name attached to. Just try one, and you will be hooked!

I loved Stealing Justice!!! What a great start to the Justice Team series. I was intrigued from page one. Justice "Grey" Greystone is a disgraced ex-FBI agent on the hunt for a vicious serial rapist/killer, know as The Lion. He scouts out Sydney Banfield to help him bring down The Lion and earn his way back in the good graces of the FBI. Sydney works at St. Agnes Fresh Start Shelter helping women disappear from their abusive husbands. She is impulsive, tough, and very loud mouthed. Although their personalities collide, they are a perfect pair. This book is the perfect mix of romance, suspense, danger, and plenty of passion that I could not put down. It kept me on the edge of my seat and the romance between Grey and Sydney did not disappoint!!! I cannot wait to read the next book and I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romantic suspense novel!

Misty Evans’s Stealing Justice is a fun read with likeable feminist-friendly characters, and lot of heart. Sydney is a kick-ass fighter for social justice, and Grey is hot ex FBI agent looking to clear his name and his conscience. The locations are vivid and the tension and passion well portrayed, the story is a fun romp through a fantasy setting. The characters are great, with believable chemistry and lots of room for a series to form under their partnership.
My only real complaints are the repetitive use of pet names ‘Feb Boy,’ condescending thought, ‘good girl’, the addition of 'ass' to the end of more words than necessary, repetitive obsessing over the dead sister, and some overuse of cupcakes. Lets keep our heroes lean and mean. Seriously, not even in a fantasy do they need to eat a dozen cupcakes every time they see each other even if they burn some of it off having sex.
I look forward to reading more books in this series, but in the future if there is going to be a bad guy who is a foreigner it would be good to have an active character in the story from that country who isn’t a bad guy.

Adrienne Giordano, with Misty Evans, has done it again. This author team has a knack for taking a fairly straight-forward plot and making it sing with excellent characters. Set in the political quagmire of Washington DC, what appears to be a simple hunt for a serial killers take the reader to backroom parties of international politics. The main couple of Sydney and Jason are both damaged by events in their pasts but do not dwelling on it - expect when needed to push the plot forward. With an excellent twist at the end, which slightly foreshadowed if the story is read carefully, this story is a good rainy day novel. Fun to read, especially with a box of cupcakes.

This is a top notch start of a series.....'Stealing Justice' is an apt title for this book. Grey is a former FBI Agent who has been chasing a serial killer since before he was fired from the FBI. He enlists the help of a women he admires, Sydney, in a complex and dangerous scheme to get hard evidence against the man he thinks is guilty of the killings. Grey and Sydney are complex individuals with lots of baggage and are well developed by the Authors. The story of their love and the story of the crime are woven together into a fascinating read.

Former FBI agent, Justice "Grey" Greystone needs someone to help him catch a murderer who has diplomatic immunity. He enlists the aid of Sydney who runs a women's shelter. He needs her to go undercover for him at the Smoking Gun, an escort service for the higher ups in Washington, D.C., and foreign diplomats. This is a fabulous book and I never wanted to put it down! I really enjoyed watching these two learn to work together, fall in love and catch the bad guy. Even though I was given an ARC of the book to review, I also purchased a copy of this book.

Wow! This was an unexpected surprise. I loved this story of Grey & Syd. It was interesting to see the struggles of Syd in helping battered women as well as the struggles that Grey had as well. Good job Misty & Adrienne
Please RateStealing Justice (The Justice Team Book 1)
Sydney runs a woman’s shelter providing new identities for abused women and their children to get away and start new lives. She is young but fights for the women under her protection. She doesn't trust men and has a secret that she is hiding.
Grey spies on Sydney with the hopes of recruiting her to help him catch The Lion, using her loyalty of helping women in trouble and her near hatred of men. Grey discovers a mole in her shelter who is providing vulnerable women as high end escorts who eventually get killed by the Lion. Together they combine their skills to finally put this killer down for good.
I gave this book three stars for a few reasons. One is that Grey had a partner who he protected and went into hiding, nobody knowing where he was… this partner eventually surfaces but in such a way that is confusing. The other is that within 40 pages into the book, Grey falls for Sydney…. after their first meeting. A bit to fast and no leading into it, and she falls for him not long after. The love scenes were pretty steamy though. The story itself is a good one and kept me reading. The things that bothered me didn't prevent me from finishing the book.
This is the first in a series and wraps up at the end so I think it can be read as a stand alone book.
