An interesting light-hearted read with lots of likeable characters and fairly predictable outcomes. Good for reading on kindle while waiting for the train or travelling on a long trip. Provides some cultural insights too.

I just finished reading Hidden in Paris, a recent selection for our book club. I couldn't put it down! The deeper I got into the story, the more I came to care about all of the characters. Of course, the Parisian setting is irresistible!
I liked the emphasis on food, family, friends, children...the narrative voice is authentic...the writing style is compassionate without being cloying.
I'm looking forward to the publication of Ms. Gantz' next novel!

....but why were these women constantly crying towards the end. There were no chapters with Annie that didn't end with "tears running down her face" or "silently sobbing", etc. If I were an alien and this book was my first introduction to human women I'd think they were all unstable emotional basket cases.

Love the way the characters evolve during their time in Paris...Annie is the way all women should be...strong, independent and sexy. The message: Be genuine, believe in yourself, get out of your comfort zone and good things will come. I read this entire book one sleepless night . Loved it!

I really loved this book. The characters were well developed, and I quickly became invested in them, and cared what happened to them. The setting was beautifully described, and made me want to move to Paris. I didn't want the book to end, and hope for another like it. This is a perfect summer book, with a bit more substance than some. Glad I bought it.

I loved this book! The Paris setting was a perfect place for the characters in the story to find themselves, to grow and find love. The characters in the story were developed so beautifully, even the children were not ignored. We got to see them as children as part of this odd family. There is Annie, the owner of the big Paris house, who lost her husband. She decides that to keep her house she will rent out rooms to borders. She loves to cook so she will also cook for them. Two American women apply. One with 2 children and the other suffering from anorexia. Annie has 3 boys so when they all get together, it's an interesting psychological stew. Annie's best friend, Lucas, loves her but has been afraid to show it. But good things happen to good people...I was sorry to see this book end. I'd love a sequel.

This is an interesting account of 3 women who become "roommates" in a Paris home, due to unusual circumstances in each of their lives. Enjoyable, but don't expect a Paris travelog. More enjoyable if you have visited Paris.

I am a self proclaimed francophile and fighter for the underdog. This book crosses so many story lines its hard to keep up at times. It also has some awkward love scene scenarios that pop up here and there that really throw me off.

Very amusing book, with the contrast between the French and American characters, essential in the development of the story. Very good view of Psrisian life from the inside, as a local. Great Summer read on the beach!

A bit of disappointment since I usually love books set in Paris. The characters were all a bit sad and not much going on with the story and it lacked great writing to keep me entertained. When a book has great dialogue and characters that feel like you know them and this book did not have it.

A great Novel. Loved it and it kept me fascinated till the end. A good holiday read too.
It was interesting with all the different characters and personalities. Can really recommend
this book especially if you like to read travel books and novels too.

We learn from the author description that Ms. Gantz has lived in Paris--which one? Texas? She makes mistakes on street names, puts the wrong people in Pere Lachaise (both Sartre and Gainsbourg are in Montparnasse cemetery), misspells French terms, reinforces false stereotypes, and generally drives anyone who knows the real Paris nuts! The overall story is relatively well crafted, in spite of many passages which are written backwards--statements make no sense until previous facts in story are presented--but the author's careless research and predictable characters lose her credibility at every turn. I wanted to like this book, really, yet was constantly distracted by Ms. Gantz's ineptitudes. Readers beware!!

What a great book describing the city of light experienced by a cast of lovable people, each with their own story to tell and struggles to overcome. The people in this book were relatable and engaging. Not only is the cast spectacularly written, the descriptions of Parisian living created a different world that was easy to fall in love with and difficult to leave. I was sad the book had to end and I can't wait for her next book.

Enjoyed this book although was predictable but for a happy story that is all good. Good mix of characters and how they are all connected. Like at the end as lets you know another book that has the recipes from this book in print. Could be worth getting if interested in food.

I have just finished reading Hidden in Paris and I must say that I loved, loved,LOVED it! If you have ever been to Paris, the characters and decriptions of Paris life will remind you so much of the beautiful city that is Paris. And if you haven't yet been there this book must surely be an incentive to go there and experience it for yourself. I would love Ms Gantz to write a sequel so that we may learn what happens to her characters in the future.

This book was very interesting in content, but some of the characters needed to be fleshed out more, with better descriptions of what they looked like and what their personalities are. I enjoyed reading it, although the ending was a bit "quick" and unsatisfying.

I suddenly became interested in Paris, seeing Eiffel towers everywhere I went and found this book to be very informative. There was really not the generalizations of Parisians but very interesting characters in real life situations. Loved Annie! (maybe that's Corine?) Downloaded the cookbook too-very nice.

I found the story, HIDDEN IN PARIS, had people who were in some cases quite unique and interesting. The plot gave the reader some surprises, but toward the end found it continued too long...sort of anticlamatic. Some of the characters had so-o-o many problems that it overwhelmed the story at times.
