Little disappointed in lack of instruction of how to properly run. But then again that's not the point of this book. The point is to how to be READY TO RUN and it does a fantastic job of helping you understand how you should prepare

Clearly written and very easy to follow with good diagrams of how to do the exercises and movements. The author makes logical sense out of the physical movement and problems with the human body which makes it easy to understand. It is a good read for runners who are tired of injuries and a good reference book to come back to.

Kelly does a great job of clearly and concisely presenting a template for people to follow to get them up and running safely. Too many injuries are seen in runners and more often than not they just started running without any regard for how they ran or if they had the ranges of motion or tissue quality necessary to handle the rigors of logging miles. The 12 standards are great to start working toward as you begin your journey. He presents very safe and effective strategies to help you meet the standards and explains how they relate to running and why you should care about meeting them. This helps to place some of the responsibility on the athlete to solve some of their own issues and help people to get away from the model of wrecking themselves and then asking someone else to tell them what went wrong and fix them. Will this solve everyone's problems and eliminate all running injuries? No. But he is probably the first person to put all this in a book and tell people running is a skill and it needs to be practiced as such.

The best part about this book is the section that lays out a 28 day mobility overhaul plan. With step by step instruction on several mobility movements then to lay out a plan is what makes this so useful to everyone.

Best book that teaches you how to run with better form, exercises to become a better runner and how to recover from injuries. It is written so that you can understand why you're doing certain exercises a way that is very easy to understand.

Half way through and helping already. I started running again after a couple months off and felt some pains in my hip. I picked a couple of the hip socket stretches from the index and the pain has went away. Previously I had suspected I was running with some kind of misalignment on my right side and low and behold this book helped me confirm this. My right foot was angling out some causing an increase in blisters on the interior portion of my foot. I'm guessing this was also a contributor to the hip pain. Kelly Starrett, you're my hero! Thank you.

Easily lays out the importance of mechanics and preparation needed for natural running and explains why decades of modern life have corrupted people's ability to run the way the body is meant to.

If you're contemplating switching to "barefoot" running, are plagued with running aches and injuries, or want to run healthily for the span of your life, this book is for you.

A great, shorter, more specific book about self diagnosis and self help in regard to proper body mechanics as it relates to running over Kelly's more comprehensive, full body, Becoming a Supple Leopard. I have both and recommend both.

Would highly recommend this book. Have listened to Kelley on a few podcasts and he obviously knows and is unbelievable passionate about body function and strength. Looking forward to putting some of the excellent advice in these pages to good use.

I bought this book in Kindle, and although it looked good, it is hard to read in that format.
Therefore, I bought it in Paperback and now I can say it is a Five Star Book.
Having it in Paperback allows me to see better the pictures and go faster to an excercise I want to do. Also to fastly scan through the pages of the book looking at the pictures.
As per the content itself, it has helped me a lot.
The idea of the program and every excercise are very thoroughly and well explained. I am very happy with the book and I keep using it every day.

Great book for runner, especially if you are busy and still want to learn more about how to mob for running. If you are wanting to learn pose method tho this isn't the book you want but I don't think that was the point of the book so I still gave it 5 stars for KStarr

Easy read with good info. I have made many changes already. I have learned that many of the things about she, nutrition and posture has been wrong. Thanks to Kelly I am now properly able to care for my body and able to teach my kids correctly. This book is easy to read and straight to the point. My running consists of Tabata sprints and this book I found to be much more than a better runner. I recommend it to all runners and those wanting to take care of their body for long term success.

I own Becoming a Supple Leopard and while this was specifically focused on Running. It was needed since I already have access to Dr. Starret's methods. If you don't care about understanding all of the mobility exercises you could be doing and are only a runner this can be a great resource still.
