I thought this was a great, dark read. I thought the first half (kidnapped bits) was better than the 2nd half. This book can be a solo read but is meant to have a second book, you'll see why. I found the kidnapping bits quite authentic and enjoyed David's angst when dealing with Lianna.

This book is dark and gritty. Twisted and disturbing. But...... Oh. So. Good! It is not for people who don't like a little, ahem, violence? In their books. For those of us who do it will hit all your buttons. Stoke them the right way. It's about anger, revenge, and destruction! It's about how light can shine in the darkest of the dark. I can't tell you enough how good this book is. I am new to this author and she has, with one book, knocked one of my top five authors out of their place and made it hers. Bravo to the amazing Jennifer Bene!

Dark romances are usually not something I read but I decided to try this one. Oh boy! Was this one a ride. I get where David is coming from wanting revenge on the man that ruin his family but what he did to Lianna was hard to swallow. It could have gone a different way but it's a dark romance and I think she forgave him too fast. If it was me, I would beat him to a pulp. I just could. It out the book down. I had to know what David knew and even at the end, I still didn't get all of my questions answered. Now I have to know what is next.

Story line is great and I loved the characters. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Unexpected twists and turns had me reading this book in one sitting. Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!

Okay, maybe I’m jaded or something, but this wasn’t nearly as dark as I thought it was going to get. I mean, yeah, there’s some pretty twisted stuff going on in here including the mental states of both H and h. The heroine isn’t affected afterward the way I would have expected. Apparently, they’re both surprised by how it ends up between them. No more than me. But at least they’re surprised, too. I even learned a new thing or two (zipper?).

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I went in with pretty low expectations, so I was most pleasantly surprised! It was extremely well written and edited, with good pacing and character development. There was a well- developed plot, especially for this genre. I couldn't put it down. The sex scenes are hot (SO HOT) without being overdone, which is a fine line,
- especially in original fiction, and even moreso in works with BDSM themes. And while a romance develops, this work contains explicit non-con scenes on-screen, so be aware of that going in. The author mentions that there is a sequel in the works, and I'm not sure that it needs it - this book holds up well as a standalone work.

This book was mind blowing! It is a powerful dark romance that pulls you in from the very first page. Once the story unfolded, you not only emphasize with Lianna you do so with David as well. Two wrongs do not make a right and the sins of the father always come to light and the fall out is usually great. In this case Lianna suffers not only from David but from her father as well who not only shows cruelty to those he takes from in business but also from his supposedly loved ones.

HOLY CRAP!!! So not what I expected but WOW was it spellbinding to read. I was hooked from the beginning and I couldn't put down until the very end. Talk about hot, crazy, wild, full of surprises and a smooth read. You definitely absolutely want this book.

If you like your romances dark and twisted, then this book comes highly recommended. I enjoyed this story. The characters were well developed. The author's writing style captivates the reader and takes them to dark places. She is at the top of the list of dark erotic romance authors.

Deliciously dark and twisted, Ms Bene has outdone herself. I fell right into the pages. I felt like I was inside an intense BDSM scene instead of a torture chamber while Lianna was held prisoner. This book is not a stand alone but the beginning of an ongoing story.

I was completely submerged into this book within minutes of starting, abandoning all of my duties as an adult lol. David and Lianna's story is so emotional, so gut wrenching that you can't help but feel everything these characters are going through. I can't wait to see what's in store for these two next.

I think DESTRUCTION is my new favorite Jennifer Bene story. Lianna’s world is flipped upside down when everything she thought she knew about her father, his company… herself is torn apart leaving her exposed in ways she never dreamed were possible. Loosely based on the tale of Rapunzel, which you will key in on, Ms. Bene takes dark and twisted to an engrossing new level that will leave you rapidly tapping those pages and unable to put the story down. *Of note, if things of dubious consent and dark and twisted don’t have you squirming in your seat, this may not be the story for you. Jennifer Bene is an author that writes books that soothe my dark heart?. I absolutely loved Destruction and I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for the waiting fan.

Have not ever read anything by Jennifer Bene before but I will certainly be looking forward to reading more. Destruction is an excellent dark romance and will be loved by anyone who enjoys the genre. Be warned, this one isn't for the faint of heart as some of the acts in the book are less than honorable. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I received a free copy of the book but my review is completely voluntary and unbiased.

Destruction was a really dark and twisted story of revenge. David was extremely cruel and had no compassion towards Lianna. He was a complete monster. He tortured and violated her. He was a sick bastard. He enjoyed hurting her - he got off on it. I’m not a fan of torture or dark BDSM but for whatever reason this one worked for me and the author does warn you. Received an ARC from Hidden Gems and I’m leaving a voluntary review.

This book drew me in quickly. I loved the characters. Lianna’s strength, even through terrible pain. David’s flaws, his convictions, his regrets. The author did a fantastic job of making a very dark story completely believable.

Usually in this genre, the reason the woman starts to fall in love with her captor is the generic Stockholm syndrome. While, of course, there are hints of that here as well, there are also many other reasons for Lianna and David to form a bond that are expertly woven into the story. The central mystery is well thought-out and logical, also a typical weakness in this genre.

Ms. Bene is going on my must-read list from now on, and I’m off to check and see what else she’s published as soon as I post this review.

This book will keep you turning the pages late into the night to find out what happens next. I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel.

Dark romance......entertaining, captivating, and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Jennifer Bene is the dark romance queen. She is able to come up with these intense stories that pull you in and don’t let you go. This one was REALLY dark, but so well-written, and the darkness was a part of the story, not just written for shock value. The MC bugged me just a hair-hence the loss of a star-but this story really was awesome, so it didn’t detract too much from the overall storyline.

A fairytale with a suspenseful twist.So Ms Bene does dark but for some reason this one is pitch black. Hold onto your hat and be amazed. It is beautifully crafted and keeps you on the edge of your seat. A loving daughter has her beliefs challenged .

This book is not for the faint hearted. The lengths that which the H in this book goes to will definitely offend some. This has some serious triggers for sensitive readers. This storyline drew me and captivated me from the beginning. An absolutely enthralling, twisted read. Though, I wish there was an epilogue to tie it all up. The dark, twisted storyline hooked me from the first page. I couldn’t wait to understand David’s motivation for it all. Linnea’s terror and emotions was all so breathtakingly real. I couldn’t help but fall in love with them both. Truly loved it.

I was really surprised by this book...I guess the first dark romance I've read. It was interesting to read about how some things just can't be explained and make no sense, because that is exactly life, so it was nice for someone to put it into words in a complicated situation. Looking forward to reading the next one in this series!

The characters are well developed. I was hooked from the beginning of the book. It is on the dark story. I can't wait to read more books by Bene. I will recommend this book.

I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an ARC. This book was fast paced and exciting! The author did a great job developing the characters. The main male character, David, surprised me toward the end (in a good way). Lianna, the main female character, had to deal with issues about her father and his actions. Very good story, worth my time!

Very dark romance but I must admit somewhat addictive. David and Lianna are great characters. David kidnaps Lianna in an elaborate revenge plot only to have it all go wrong. I really enjoyed the love story and even though this is the first of a series, it has a satisfactory ending. Having enjoyed this book very much, I really look forward to the next book. The story had good flow, didn't notice any grammar errors and kept your attention. The dark parts are truly dark and there are several non con parts so if its not your thing you definitely wont want to read this. The noncon scenes were really well written and hot! The only real con I have is the transition from enemy to lover, it just feels like it happend to fast so left you with this umm okay feeling. The woman was in her 20's so not a girl and the man was a few years older.
