Lisa has created a very interesting paranormal series with some great new characters. Dakar is a strong alpha wolf shifter who believes in mates and is pleased to meet his.  He is intrigued by him and wants to be mated but he is often less than supportive.

Sy is an adorable 'young' man, who wields his immense power with great maturity. I loved his character and his innocence.

I got a lot of entertainment out of the relationship between Sy and Brock.

This is an enjoyable murder mystery that allows insight into the various characters and is different from Lisa's other books, though the only thing that isn't different, is my impatience for the next in the series.

I'm sure that by the end of book 3 we'll be clamouring for number 4!

Really enjoyed these 2 characters Sy a Necromancer and Dakar a Wolf shifter and the supporting characters, Brock Sy's assistant/Righthand man and Brad a bear shifter as well as the 2 humans Connor and Clive. Well written, story flows easily. Great start to the new series. As always anything written by Lisa Oliver is good, and deserves to be recommended. Enjoyable and entertaining. Does however end with characters Mated but with a HFN, and a leading into a new storyline.

This story really worked for me. Interesting story, engaging characters, and to me, the story moved along well.
If I never read the rest of the trilogy, I would be satisfied with the story as it played out in The Necromancer's Smile. However, I will be reading the rest of the series.

Highly Recommended
An Mpreg Romance (Never Too Late Book 1) - Buried Passion :: Crave (Fallen Angels, Book 2) :: Vampire Games (Vampire for Hire Book 6) :: A Book of Quotations (Dover Thrift Editions) - The Wit and Wisdom of Abraham Lincoln :: The First Covenant Novel (Covenant Series Book 1)

Lisa Oliver has another outstanding book! Bakar is an alpha wolf detective and has screwed up everything with his fated mate from the first meeting! All he can think about is getting mated with Sy, THE Necromancer, but he has to solve a series of murders. Sy, Necromancer Prince Sebastian York, looking like a 20 year old twink is strong and imposing as a necromancer but is totally innocent about the real world and doesn’t socialize with anyone ever. I love the supporting characters but Sy and Bakar are outstanding! Totally love this new series! Bravo Lisa Oliver!

This does contain much needed spoilers so that no one falls into the trap I did.

I want my money back, the entire story droned on, because it was only about an Alpha Shifter groveling to his mate, and not about what I believed it to be about from the synopsis and other reviews.

Why does this Alpha Shifter give everything, have to constantly apologize to the Necromancer and the why would an Alpha shifter allow his small little mate to top him? To make matters worse, for some reason this mate knows all about prepping someone. How can he do that when he's never been with someone before? The Necromancer constantly complains, acts like a child and expects his Alpha to drop everything for him.

The entire story was implausible, ridiculous and could have never happened in any fantasy world ever. I'm not sure where the author was going with any of the story, especially the main villain, he was a Captain at the police department and he was a demon, but his reasoning for doing the entire thing was just ridiculous, along with the familiar and his brother. Plus, why would everyone just accept the Captain returning to be in charge when he was arrested by the Necromancer? The author gave no reasoning for that, and why anyone would accept him being back when they knew what he had done, and why? That was the silliest thing.

I bought both books of this series awhile ago, so I cannot get my money back, therefore, this and the 2nd book will go on the Disingenuous Writer shelf, along with other books that writers have written when they really do not care about the people who will read it, because this is not even a story, just words mixed together that make no sense.
