Good Fortunes (A Claire Rollins Mystery Book 1)

This book was well written; characters and plot were fairly enjoyable. The paranormal aspect was a turnoff for me. The typical plot line of the main character thinking they can and should solve the crime themselves instead of the police is wearing and just, illogical to me.

Good Fortunes is a mystery. I really enjoyed reading it and am about to begin Book 2. It is set in Boston which I liked, being from there. Claire has special powers which help her solve the mystery. For any animal lovers, the author invites you to meet Bear and Lady, the heroine's two sweet and
adorable Welsh Corgis. I love books where the author depicts the main character's pets and has them play a key role. Try this author, I believe you will be happy.

After Clare's husband dies she packs up and movies to a new town with her best buddies two corgis. She is developing a new skill that she's not confortable with and actually scares her a little bit. She has found that she can predict the future or see what they are thinking. She just wants to ignore it but after she is shot at it's time to bring out the big guns. Embracing her "gift" she sets out to find a killer before he shoots at her again. A good book with lovely character development. Oh,and who doesn't like story with corgis in it!

Very enjoyable, engaging heroine, interesting friends. I enjoy reading about a main character who is someone who has lived a little and knows something of what life can throw at you, but still ready to learn and open to new experiences and knowledge. I especially enjoyed the two corgi dogs being part of the story, but they need to be a larger part of the story. (Also they are very quiet for corgis) Corgi are quite vocal, with deep rolling voices quite at odds with their smaller (shorter, really) size.

Claire's intuition saves her and her friend from a drive by gun shot. Another shooting and a murder have Claire using every bit of her intuition and her brain to try to solve this mystery before someone else gets killed. She needs help but who can she trust.

Claire discovers she has some psychic abilities, and needs to learn how to use and control her skills. Add in a drive by shooting that wasn't accidental, murders that don't make sense and the new psychic sleuth is caught up in the middle of everything.

Just okay. I didn't find the main character very appealing. I will read the next book in the series if she writes one, to see if the characters become more developed. Maybe I will like them better. Not as enjoyable as the author's Sweet cove series.

This story was fast paced and held my interest. I enjoyed the friendship between the two women and adored the dogs. If you are looking for a light enjoyable book pick this one up. I just bought the next three in the series.
