I have not read a single Samantha Young book that I have not enjoyed. If you're into fantasy, then she is definitely an author for you to check out. Although, I must admit, if you read all of her books, they all have very similar plots. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed them all and have had a hard time putting them down to do anything productive!

This is truly a unique paranormal read that older YA readers will enjoy. Drip Drop Teardrop is quick read that takes readers into a darker world that full of love, sacrifice, sizzling romance and puts a unique spin on the outer world. Similar to Samantha's other books, the two main characters are both enduring, they have an inner strength that draws you to them and leaves you cheering for them in the end.

The story line is simplistic and I really loved the gothic feel to it. The story is about Avery, who's had to grow up fast. She lost her parents in a tragic accident at a young age, and has lived with her aunt every since. Now that her aunt is dying, she's dropped out of NYU to take care of her and will do anything to save her. Brennus has spent over two thousands guiding souls to the other world and now he's come to collect the one that fought him years ago and won, Avery. I loved the romance in the story. It's a story about choices, sacrifice, and redemption. This is truly one of those fabulously written guilty pleasures!

Short book=Short Review

This is my first sampling of Samantha Young's work and I am intrigued. Drip Drop Teardrop takes a new, interesting twist on the afterlife and I thought it was both original and in many ways refreshing.

One of the themes in this book is the woman defending herself and not needing the man to protect her. Today in literature, particularly YA PNR, you see a lot of the girl getting into very, very bad fixes and her Prince Charming sweeping in on a white horse to save her. There's none of that here and I'm still trying to figure out if that's a bad thing or a good thing. On one hand, it was nice to see a heroine who didn't need her man to rescue her when things got nasty, on the other, it would have been nicer to see Brennus show a little more protectiveness. I can appreciate that the author was trying to portray the strong female character who doesn't need saving, but I wanted a little more proof that her significant other would do whatever it took to save her if it became necessary.

The main character here is nineteen, but I think this book nudges the boundaries of YA a little too far. Yes, there were steamy parts in here I skipped (don't judge me). But the most disturbing part for me was the backstory of Avery trading her virginity with her high school boyfriend (who was a total donkey's rear end) in exchange for not accepting a position at a school dance. I just--she WHAT?

Other than my aforementioned concerns, I thought this story was well-written, interesting, and I would probably read the sequel. I am now curious about Young's other books and I plan to start her other YA paranormal romance series soon!

What an adorable novella. It was a fast-paced story, short but well-rounded and well-written. The story is a contemporary romance with a touch of the paranormal in it. Young has done a beautiful job in setting up the catalyst for the story, Avery's aunt, who is dying of cancer. She is watched by Brennus, a frightening but sexy man who is really an Ankou, one who guides the dead to their afterlife. He wants Avery and offers her a chance to save her aunt if she will accept him.

Though short, this story was very enjoyable. She managed to resolve all conflicts and add a little suspense into the tight storyline. I am impressed with how thorough the story was considering its length. I liked the way the characters progressed and how the tale was so easily propelled forward. The love story was so sweet, too. Avery learns to love a man for who he is inside. A great quick read that I would definitely recommend!

I enjoyed Samantha's take on Beauty and the Beast. Changing the Beast to Death and throwing in an evil ex made things interesting. I was a little confused about how Beauty was able to figure her way out of a certain situation while the readers had no clue. I would have liked to learn along with her instead of having a "where did she get that from?!?!" Moment. Overall I enjoyed the novella. It was a nice way to pass a couple of hours.

I loved the storyline. Very interesting. Not much description with the intimate scenes which I liked but you would know that it did happen. I really loved this novel despite that the characters were really young. Like around age 19(the girl) and age 20(the guy). Took me maybe less than 5 hours to finish this novel. This is a must read.

Drip Drop Teardrop

A short novella but not short on a story.
Avery has just existed since the death of her parents, raised by her Aunt Caroline
she doesn't like to be noticed.
While out with her friends the hairs on the back of her neck stand up and she knows she
is being watched. What she sees is a large man kind of creepy and has a scar on his face.

He asks her to dance and the tingling sensation she feels draws them closer together
and when the dance is over he disappears into thin air.

Brennus is an Ankou; he helps the dead to find their way to their next destination.
He reappears in her home and explains what he is and he has been watching her for a long time
she escaped him long ago!

OMG, what an intriguing story, one of pain, loss, death and love.
I was hooked from the first chapter to the last!
