This was a great read. Poor Anna is so frightened she doesn't know which way to go with her feelings. Love the caring and dominate nature of Stephen. Can't wait to read the next one and watch their D/s relationship grow as well as Anna's personal growth.

I found myself completely submerged in the story and characters. I even cried several times at the desperation in Brianna's story. I just want to hug her and tell her it will be ok. That being said, the story had a VERY abrupt ending and was WAY TO SHORT! The rest of the series is equally as short, and I don't know yet if I can see myself paying an additional $8 for each of the 3 short stories.

This story gives you the insight to two people who are trying to just live their lives until confronted with a road block. Stephan is trying to do what is right, even when his own family doesn't believe in his motives. He started out trying to save Brianna because it was the proper thing to do, not because of love. Brianna, once again betrayed by her family was just trying to survive another day in the life she was handed. Once the transaction was made, both were forced to transition into a world neither understood.

Stephan was faced with a woman who didn't even know she had a voice or even the right to have a thought of her own. His patience was pushed to the limits, the fear he felt of doing something wrong that would hurt Brianna more than what she has already been, sent him into a world of doubt that he wasn't use to. Even with that doubt he knew that he was responsible for another human being that had been wounded both physically and emotionally for years, and for the first time in his life it wasn't just him that he had to think about, while his friends and family doubted his motive and morals.

Brianna, not use to giving trust without it coming back to punish her was placed in a situation where she had to trust Stephan for even the simplest thing as food and shelter. Would she ever be able to leave the role as a slave and reclaim her life that was taken from her at an early age? Would she ever be able to talk about the memories of abuse that was done to her for no just reason? Could she ever allow herself to speak of her fears and her emotional scars? Would a trip outside of the apartment ever be more than a risk to her? Would she ever be able to tell Stephan where the real danger was coming from so he could protect her?

You won't find sex and hot steamy passion in this book, but you will find love coming from the ashes of what others had done to these two people. Stephan will come across as the hero he is and Brianna will be seen as a survivor of some of life's most horrifying events. I fell in love with not only the story but both characters because even though you think things like this are purely fictional they do happen in life but rarely do you get to see the end results when love and dedication and patience are applied to others lives.

I could not believe how amazing this book was. Anna was so scared and lost that it was almost adorable, and her master was patient and kind but at the same time demanding. He was perfect for the book. The development in their relationship was fun to watch and see. It was almost silly how slow Anna came to herself but at the same time it was perfect.

A very intense, emotional read. I recommend this book highly, but if you've been through trauma, caused by the actions of another, I would recommend caution. Adults only. This book could be disturbing to any woman really, due to the trauma experienced by important characters, but it's worth it. Sensitive, hopeful, insightful and endearing, this book will will make you love the heroine.

This was not what I was expecting. . The book was so well written with so much compassion. I doubt anyone could not like it. I just wanted to make sure people do not judge a book by its cover. I did I am not going to lie to you. I said on one of her posts I would give this book a try because I was not that much into BDSM books. I was so wrong I guess it is the way she started the series. It set the pace for me to want to read more because I know the remainder of the books will have a consistency that I can handle. Just like so many I got caught up in the title BDSM this was so different. This story was amazing. I had no idea that BDSM was so deep and dark with slaves. Stephan is such a gentleman even if he does have his fetish he knows Brianna needs him. Then it makes me feel like it is ok for her to be his slave because he takes such good care of her. Then my morals hit me and say no no no this is just not right. The more I read the more I want to read. I think this is really a mind boggling experience. I so want them to be together but I am not sure as to what level of commitment and intimacy be it as love, HEA or as something dark and deeper. It is amazing that we live in such a formidable age that individuals women or men did not have to be complacent in doing what everyone expects in the bedroom. I applaud them for the courage and understanding of what they want how they want to play out their fantasies. I will be purchasing the entire set collection because I have to read this completely through.

The premise of this book is unnerving. I tried to understand how someone could become a slave this day in age but had a hard time with it. Brianna is young and vulnerable but this book just brought more questions and no answers. Of course there are two more books to read to get any answers but I will not be buying them to get the answers.

If this was a creative writing assignment at a junior college the author would fail. Just words on a page, I felt no emotion at all. No, I take that back, I felt anger that I wasted my time and money. If you're looking for a good dark erotica book get Captive In the Dark, Comfort Food, or Consequences.

You read the exciting and heart-pounding side of romance, but there is another side. Hayes has shown a very scary glimpse into Brianna's hell and just how far Stephan has to go to bring her out of that darkness. It is unlike anything I've ever read, and although there was only a simple kiss each night between the two, the love that is growing between Brianna and Stephan is unquestionable. So gripping, so real and I just couldn't put this book down! I have to find out what happens next!!!! Can't wait for the sequel...awesome job Sheri Hayes!

The homework story of strong male rescuing weak female is the theme, but it was set in a different way. The dominant male rescued a girl that had been broken into a slave and his effort was to bring her up to the level of a submissive. The story ends before he gets what he wants, but it looks promising. Good light read.

Not what I was expecting. This is the psychological journey of a Dominant and a forced slave. There is NO erotic romance, there are NO DARK scenes (although there are a few "memories"). Just a story of a girl's rehabilitation from a terrible situation...and her Dominant's actions to help bring her to the light.

This is a disturbingly beautiful love story. Stephen is the perfect dom. Brianna is a strong damaged women. They are pieces of the same puzzle. If you want a sunshine & unicorns type of love story this isn't for you. If you have an open mind & love a deeply felt sometimes disturbing unique love story this is for you.

I admit that I haven't finished reading this book. I'm more than halfway through, and am just having a really hard time getting into it! When I find myself skipping pages just to see if it gets better, that's when I know that a book is not for me. I know that this is a part of a series, so may the other books are better. But this one drags on and on without anything really significant happening. I will likely finish the book, but probably won't read any of the others in the series.

This book made me feel so sorrowful and lucky; unfortunately there are women out there in the world living in Anna’s first predicament. I say the book made me feel lucky because I have never suffered that level of pain nor trauma and my heart goes out there to those that have.

An absolutely amazing piece of what should be a must read for every D/s relationship. The heartbreaking tale of a true submissive abused and the rescued by her dom and Prince charming. Kept me wanting more truly shines light on the position of power as an owner or dom and the great responsibility that comes with it.

This is a charming and romantic tale of a wealthy young man who helps a stranded soul. He finds her deep into a forced slavery situation and he buys her freedom. I enjoyed the twists and turns the author has made for us. What happens next?

I couldn't believe how many negative book reviews there were about this book. I wanted to read it and get my own opinion. For those of you who like to follow my reviews, you know i don't like to put spoilers in there, or mention too much of the book, so others can form their own opinion. So I wanted to form my own opinion and share it so I bought it and read it. Many people think this book is about human trafficking and all that, but its not. Its about a man trying to save a woman, and not freak her out in the process.... The relation that builds between Brianna and Stephan is a strong bond, and you can feel the way they feed off of each other. This is not a horrible book, this book is wonderful, and I cant wait to see what happens between Brianna and Stephan.

I have read all three books in the series. Wonderful story and so well written. I usually don't spend as much on books that cost as much as these, but got the first one free, and just had to have the other two books. I was not sorry!

The whole Master thing makes me uncomfortable. That being so, the whole slave thing makes me want to throw up. This book was compelling because I really want to see where it,all goes and to see Brianna find her self worth.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I must say, that it is frustrating to see reviews where readers judge whether the author was appropriately depicting a BDSM or not, or misrepresenting a Dom/sub lifestyle. Newsflash: Not every relationship is cookie-cutter, and this book was about an isolated example sex slavery, and that she was pulled from the hands of a sick bastard. Also, I found it refreshing that this book did not have sexual scenes in it as one may expect. Though getting to know the characters, it was entirely appropriate that that did not occur. Kudos! Annyyyhoooo.... Moving onward!
I personally enjoy books that move at a fairly realistic (in real life) pace. It is not feasible to believe someone like Brianna would rehabilitate quickly. So the process of Brianna and Stephan (Stephhhhaannnn, what a beautiful man inside and out) learning to communicate and figure out their roles for each other has been intriguing to say the least. The building of emotion you can feel grow throughout the book and at moments I actually experience some goose bumps! That doesn't happen to me often folks! I'm excited to read the next book and beyond as I have a few theories as to the different issues and threats that may arise! Book #2 here I come!

This story starts with Brianna being enslaved against her will by an abusive master. She is rescued by Stephan, who is presented as a good guy, and in the beginning he seems to be. The author apparently thinks his treatment of Brianna is caring, perhaps eventually loving, but IMHO she misses the boat. Stephan is cold, closed off and uncommunicative. Within the first two weeks of aquiring her, he demands that this malnourished girl, who's had several broken bones in the last year, try to walk FIVE MILES on a treadmill, without any medical supervision. Brianna is hypervigilant, like many abuse survivors, and as soon as she starts to feel safe and relax, he punishes her for "not being aware of what's around her". He never, at any point, sits Brianna down and says "What Ian did to you was illegal and wrong. I will never harm you. I want to help you." No, he leaves her to guess from day to day. Well, I could go on....And to top it all off, the book is a cliffhanger. Note to authors: I DO NOT BUY THE NEXT BOOK IF THE FIRST ONE ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER! I do not recommend this book to anyone.
