Take a selfish man who stupidly stole 4 million dollars from a powerful man who now seek revenge and not in the form of money and you have The Scottish King.

This is the latest Penelope Sky book that touches on old friends and introduces four new characters.

Joseph is the stupid brother who attempts to pay the powerful Crewe 4 mil in funny money. Of course his caught and beaten. Begging for his life he offers Crewe double the initial amount in 24 hrs. Crewe being a powerful man with high principles feel repaying double the amount is not a suitable punishment and to let everyone know he is a man not to be messed with. As retribution he takes something pure and precious from Joseph, his younger sister London.

London was a medical student in NYC who is kidnapped by Crewe. He takes to his home on an island north of Scotland only accessible by helicopter or boat.

Crewe gives London the nickname of Lovely which she hates. She's a very brilliant, beautiful stong willed young woman that refuses to be captive or a slave to any man.

Hence the battle of the wills begins. After selling London to a man who loves to break the strong feisty beautiful young girls, Bones (from the Button series) London attempts to do whatever it takes to get Crewe to keep her. He final agrees to Bones dissatisfaction which is quickly sated with 1 mil added as compensation.

Sex is good but London continues to defy commands so Crewe finally finds a way to make London submit completely.

After a wonderful stay in Glasgow ending with a formal full of Royal's, a surprised visit from her brother with a new plan to free London and an old love of Crewe that left him bitter and closed off from love, the couple will be off to Tuscany to visit our other old friend Crow.

The Scottish King takes place before the Button series but has all the exciting elements including a new place Scotland with all it's beauty and old traditions, castles and scotch. Penelope Sky brings this story to life with great writing to keep the reader entranced. Loved it and looking forward to the next installment, The Scottish Queen.

The Scotch King is a new series by Penelope Sky. It is another book that you didn’t want to put down but just continue to turn the page. The main characters are Crewe and London. Crewe is an individual who has many businesses the main ones are a distillery (legitimate business) and he sells information to the highest bidder (illegitimate). London is a med student who is sister of a client who cheated him when payment was due. To get revenge he has her kidnapped.
The calibers of the characters are the same as we saw in the Button series, wealthy, ruthless and lost souls.
Crewe’s original plan was to sell London to Bones as a slave. If you were lucky to read the Button series (and if not run out and purchase) Bones is a character in that series. He is the true meaning of a psychopath. If London is sold to him he will kill her within eight months after he has his fun with her. The only reason Crewe was selling her to Bones was to make her brother suffer. Luckily for London he decides to keep her instead.
The first book is really about London and Crewe defining their roles. There is attraction and the story builds on these two, Crewe trying to maintain a wall between them and London trying to maintain her pride as she is forced into the role as his slave.
I can’t wait for the next installment. The title is Scotch Queen intriguing!!!!

I give this book 5 stars because I appreciate the writer's work. I'm not a fan of dark erotica but she writes it well. Crewe is a Son Of a B who kidnaped London because her brother double crossed him. He is holding her as a sex slave to send a message to her brother and others that it is not okay to mess with him. She is smart and strong but she did have a blonde moment when she tried to escape without thinking it over...that was just dumb on her part. Crewe is using her body for sex and he acts like that's all he's getting from it but he is falling for her. London hates that her body wants him but hey a girl has to do what a girl has to do. I like London for the most part but I think Crewe is a bastard who gets off on people's pain. I can't respect a man who abuses women and strips them of their freedom....especially a man of such wealth and power. Abuse of any kind is wrong. I don't care how messed up his child wood was. I love Penelope's writing and as long as she continues to write strong female characters I will continue to read her books. I would recommend this book to those who love dark and dangerous. If you've been abused and belittled in anyway and you still cry yourself to sleep at night parts of this book will make you cringe.

He is powerful as well as a brilliant strategist. If people feared him before, they will now bow to him fearful of his ire. His business is manufacturing the best Scotch in the world but that is only his way to "launder" his money and make it legal. Crewe is unbendable. When he decides to punish Joseph for messing with him, he picked the one thing in the world for which Joseph would give his life ~ his sister.

In the vein of Buttons and Lace, we once again are looking at the men that rule in the darkness. They are all friends and enemies playing out their stories. In this case, we meet Crewe and London who are the most opposite characters I have encountered. She is studying medicine so she can heal. He is the underworld King who does not even bat an eye when ending a life.

Just like with the series Buttons, I am deeply invested in this new series. These characters, no matter how bad they are on the surface, have powerful redeeming qualities. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment The Scotch Queen. I cannot wait to read it!

Definitely for adults over the age of 18!

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thank you to the author for sharing a copy with me.

This story is anything but sweet and romantic; it’s the start of a powerful series that will keep you up at night in the best possible way.

“Don’t apologize. Men like us don’t apologize for our wrongdoings. We have every intent of lying, stealing, and misleading our victims. Own up to it-like a Man.”

Crewe is cruel and powerful he took command of this story like a true king would. London refused to bow down to him despite how scared or unsure she was at times of Crewe’s true intentions. She was a prisoner and Crewe never let her forget it. As soon as London started to mistake his playfulness for weakness he reprimanded her; keeping his promise to do so no matter how he may have felt about London. The strong woman that London is took those punishments in stride never letting her emotions show. The only issue I have with this story, if you can even call it an issue, is that I am still unclear of Crewe and Ariel’s connection to each other; I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with her so hopefully I’ll get those answers in The Scotch Queen. This book was well written, flowed nicely, and keeps you flipping pages to see what happens next not only is this book worth the “One-Click” but the rest of the series should be preordered without hesitation.

**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book**

Penelope has definetly done it again with this book it is fantastic! I loved the characters and the story has you hooked from the beginning. You will keep turning pages to see what is happening next. There are some very hot and intense sexual scenes. This book is about Crewe and London. Crewe is a very strong man with definite plans to get his pound of flesh for revenge and to make sure everyone knows not try cross him. He craves power and no one gets away with taking it from him. London is a very independent, feisty, sassy woman that gives as good as she gets. She is not afraid to go toe to toe with Crewe. There are very strong secondary characters that make you want to know more about them too. To find out more you will need to read this book. It is book one in a three part series. A definite must read! I am volintarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book.

Penelope Sky has done it again. The first book I read from her was Buttons and Lace (if you haven't read that, stop what you are doing now and go read that series). She's an amazing writer, the way she writes the characters, I feel like I know them myself. In this book, The Scotch King, Crewe puts a spin on revenge for someone wronging him, he kidnaps the guys sister London. I love how feisty London is right from the get go, she gives as good as she gets. One minute I love Crewe and thinks he's so sweet, the next second I want to kill him. The ups and downs in the story keeps you hanging on the edge to see what happens next. I feel like this book should come with a written excuse for work because once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down until your done. I kept saying one more chapter, next thing you know it's 3 in the morning. I would highly recommend this book. Can't wait to jump into her next book the Scotch Queen.

Penelope Sky has a fantastic way of spinning the love hate relationships. If you haven't read her Buttons series I highly recommend starting with those. This is a fantastic book that brings in characters from the Buttons series, starting with Bones. There are so many comparisons I can make between the two series, I am eager to see where all of the twists and turns take Crewe and London.

Do not cross Crewe, he is a ruthless business man who will do whatever it takes to make your disrespect equal in his eyes, even kidnap your sister. London had no idea what kind of business her brother did until he crossed the wrong man. Between Crewe's driven exterior he has a compassionate side he would rather stayed buried and London is feisty and independent so caving to Crewe's will, will be an uphill battle for these two. This will be a story to remember.

Wow what a fantastic story. The intro started off with a BAM!!! This isn't a sweet or romantic story I found the beginning of the book to being extremely intense it had me captivate and at the edges of my seat. I was on a emotional rollercoaster as the story kept unraveling little by little and we got to see Crewe in all his glory I didn't know if to hate him or love him. Crewe is dark and intriguing but London is fierce and feisty but when they both come together sparks ignite. I really enjoyed this story. What a great start for this series!!! In does end on a cliffhanger but I'm looking forward to hearing more of Crewe story. So looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I highly recommended this book. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

I voulintarly received an ARC in exchange for a honest review!

Omg this story is amazing. This is the story of Crewe and London. Crewe kidnaps London because her brother tried to double cross Crewe. In Crewes world you don't double cross him and live to tell about it. He kidnaps London to remind her brother that this is what you get for trying to double cross me. One day he tells her that he is selling her to Bones. A man that we have meet before in The Buttons series. At the last minute he decided not to because he said he had a better use for her. All the while they both try to fight this attraction between them. What ensues is a great story and I can't wait to find out 2hats next! Will he fall for her and will she try and deceive him? You need to read to find out

Scotch King introduces us to Crewe and London. It is a dark romance, and could probably be a trigger for some people who are sensitive to extreme situations. London is collateral and payback for a deal gone wrong. What Crewe doesn't count on is that London is about a smart as they come. The question is, is she more conniving than Crewe?

I feel this series is going to really build and turn into something steamy and great. I'm truly looking forward to seeing if London's plan works, or if she'll be a pawn in Crewe's game.

I really enjoyed the scotch king! I loved getting to finally read the type of people they are and how they interacted with each other was intriguing to read along. I found this book at the beginning intense and it had me on the edge of my seat but as the story kept unraveling little by little and I started to witness who crewe was I started falling in love with him because no matter how harsh he treats London you can actually see that he has soft spots for certain things and mostly her. London is such a strong women who even though her freedom was taken away because of her brothers mistake, she is trying hard to unravel the real crewe and at the same time wanting to escape back to her normal life but she is starting to feel something for crewe and that has me on pins and needles with finding out more in the second book which I can't wait to read! Amazing job Penelope Sky!

Another award winning book by Penelope Sky. Would definitely recommend. I couldn't put it down. Crewe kidnaps London (a medical student in NY) as revenge against her brother for double crossing him in his illegal business. Crewe's legal business is making scotch. Crewe's plan is to sell London to Bones (appeared in Button series) but changes his mind at the last minute.and decides to keep her for himself. London is "kept in line" with the threat of her brother being killed. London has a love/hate relationship with Crewe and she finds out that Crewe, haivng been betrayed in love, is, at this time, incapable of love. Can't wait to see how their relationship unfolds in the next book The Scotch Queen.

Just finished!! Great story again!! Penelope Sky didn't dissappoint again. Two powerful people who need control for different reasons and fighting this growing connection that it brings!
Again this book brings so many feels again!!!
Crewe's got an interesting backstory that I cannot wait to see how this all unfolds.
London is definitely holding her own, also looking to see what she plans to do next.

Crewe takes London because of a business deal that went wrong with her brother as a punishment to him. She's a strong determined woman who Crewe would love to break. I love how she has a sassy mouth and always thinks ahead. Crewe and London has a passion for each other but don't like to show just how much they are drawn together. This story is really good, just when you think you know what's coming another curveball is thrown into the story. I can wait to see how this journey ends I am intrigued to know if she escapes and if she will really leave him. This is a definite can't stop, won't put down book!

This story read fast once it started going. I like the characters London and Crewe. Had issues with the time span of things. Had issues with the accents at first until Crewe mention his many accents. I think having him keep just the Scotish would be best. I kept picturing Gerard Butler as Crewe, so that helped a lot. I am starting to think that the girls being taken is getting a little over done though. I know all the heroines in Penelope Skye books get taken in different ways and they are all connected in some way in her world. I am just thinking though that it could get changed up some so that each of her stories can stand apart from one another instead of blending together. All said though, I like the story and characters and can't wait to find out how it ends. Thank you Penelope Skye on giving me the opportunity to read and review your books.
