Affliction (A Knights Rebels MC Book 2)

After reading the first book in this series I was excited to read Sy's story. I liked this book but the characters didn't have as big of a connection or draw as the first book. Still worth the time to read.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! Did I mention that this novel is amazing? The author has done it again! Well done River Savage. This story takes you on a journey where both characters are trying to conquer a battle; their pasts. But it's a lot harder than it seems. Oh, please read book one first as you will understand this novel so much better.

We all know who Callie is from the first book. She is a young hairdresser, loves life, full of attitude and is there for anyone who needs her. Especially her best friend. But now Callie has been involved in a shooting incident which has changed her. At the beginning of the story, Callie meets Sy, the biker club, and the story carries on until we catch up where book one left off.

Three months later, Callie goes back to the club house a changed woman. Quiet and not interested in men, she thinks she is the same Callie. However, everyone else sees who Callie really is now. With the dark emotions in her eyes and panic attacks, one man decides it's time to try and bring the old Callie back. But unbeknown to him, she is hiding one big secret that could push him over the edge.

Sy is a dangerous, moody biker who has demons of his own. Even though he fights every day to stay away from Callie, one look into her eyes is enough for him to know what he must do to help her. Can he help her to overcome everything she has been through? And at the same time, is Callie helping Sy regardless of whether or not she consciously knows she is? With Sy struggling more and more with his past, emotions are high between these two protagonists. When a situation in the club occurs, she is forced into the middle of it. Everyone, including Sy, knows that this will push her boundaries to the limit. Will he find out Callie's secret and how will he cope with it if he does? Will she fall into more darkness? And the big question is, does she bring light into Sy's life?

A bit of advice here. As I ugly cried part of way through this beautifully written story, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the tissues at hand. Both characters are going to struggle, you'll struggle, and I really, but really struggled to read this story full of feelings. I loved it so much that I can't wait to read the next book. So please keep writing this series. You are one hell of a talented writer. I have rated this book FIVE stars, and if I could have rated it more, I would have done so.

After reading Incandescent, I knew I needed to immediately start reading Affliction to get Sy and Holly's story! We met these two dynamic characters in Incandescent and I was thrilled to see the next book was their story.

I love how tortured these two characters are, and how they only feel right when they are together, even if they seem to fight it tooth and nail for a long time. Some parts of this book takes place during the events of Incandescent, but it's things you never really saw in the book.

We got to see a different side of Sy and I really enjoyed it. Of course he is a still a moody alpha man, but when we get to hear his story, my heart really went out for him. The things he's been holding so close to his heart, made me want to just hug him and take away the pain. He may come off as a moody and quite guy who's rough around the edges, but the moments you see of him with Holly, I really fell for him.

Then there is Holly, she's trying to deal with everything that happened to her, and not really dealing in a healthy way. The one person she needs, she is afraid to let in. No one should ever have to go through what Holly went through, but the way that River Savage wrote this made you truly feel her pain.

The emotions that this book will bring out in you when reading are so strong that you seem to get sucked right into the book and forget everything around you. Holly and Sy's story is amazing, but there seemed to be some parts that dragged out a little more that needed. I don't think this is a bad thing, but just something I felt when reading the book.

I love this story, and how the story was told, and getting to see more of where Nix and Kadence end up. I am definitely looking forward to the release of book 3 which is Jessie's story, especially after getting to know him a little better in this book. The Knight's MC club is full of crazy characters that are all unique and endearing at the same time. I can only hope we get a book for all of them!

This book had a very different feel from the first book. Given the things the main characters are dealing with, this story is an emotional roller coaster from the first page. I found myself in tears more than once while reading. I had a hard time putting the book down.
If you've read the first book, Incandescent, the first half of the book will be familiar. Their timelines run parallel to each other. Affliction is told from Sy and Holly's POV. We know there is more to these two characters and we get all the steamy, emotional details in this story.
Sy and Holly are both dealing with loss. And react to that loss in much the same way, withdrawing and shutting others out. Holly does a better job of hiding her pain, Sy has completely shut down and lives too much in his head and in his past. Both are keeping huge secrets from each other. Secrets that could end what they are building with each other if they come out. And of course they do.
Learning to love, accept and forgive is a big message with this story.
My one and only disappointment with this book was the "conflict" that the MC has to deal with. It felt, to me, like an afterthought, rushed and unfinished. Otherwise, it's a great story.
Overall, I really liked the book. Settle in, grab your tissues and dive in.
I can't wait to get to Jesse's story next. Leashing that Cassanova is going to be a fun ride.

While I enjoyed reading the first book in the Knights Rebel MC series, Incandescent, I have to say that I felt more emotionally connected to Sy and Holly, the main characters of Affliction. The themes of loss, guilt, forgiveness, acceptance and finally seeking and grabbing happiness that are woven throughout this story are things that we all can relate to on a very human level. But the overall lesson that Affliction teaches is that when you're at your lowest, sometimes you need to reach for that hand to lift you up.

When it comes to Sy, a personal tragedy where he lost both his daughter and wife, caged his emotions. Love hurts. So the answer is not to love. When he met Holly, the attraction was so intense that little embers of feeling started to flame within him. Unfortunately, he wanted those flames put out, so in reaction, he was basically a jerk to Holly. Their sexual encounters were rough with Sy taking an Alpha attitude of being in control of what was happening, but not letting any softness escape through towards Holly.

Holly, on the other hand, felt such an attraction to Sy that she was willing to see how things would play out until the last time they were together made her feel like a whore. Unfortunately, when Sy eventually gets his act together and realizes how much he really wants Holly, tragedy strikes and Holly pulls away. From a vibrant, sassy woman who gave Sy the nickname Sunshine, Holly withdraws and even starts to suffer from panic attacks.

Sy gives Holly time so that she can try and deal with the trauma she suffered through, but eventually, he feels enough is enough and reaches out to her. While a painstaking process, they do find their way back together. However, as the holder of secrets that do encompass feelings of loss and guilt, both Sy and Holly aren't able to fully forgive themselves and move forward just yet.

In time, Holly's secret is revealed and sends Sy in a tailspin. In a way, it was necessary because it forced them to face some uncomfortable truths and to finally deal with their past. To accept what happened. To forgive themselves. To finally seek and grab happiness from life and with each other. All because they reached their hands to each other and were willing to lift each other up.

The story of Sy and Holly really touched me and I think if you read their story, you'd feel the same way. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment in this series.

Wow just WOW. This book was amazing, brilliant, heart wrenching, sexy, soulful and down right unforgettable!!! I loved the first book it had to me everything you could possibly want in a book but SY's story blew me away on a whole other plan..These books are Not let me repeat not your typical MC read Thank God, these books are amazaballs! Let me caption what I loved about this book and what I look for in reviews to buy books. This book has awesome tattooed sexy lead, strong female lead ( can't stand weak winey women), continuation of characters from the first book, love reading further on characters you fall in love with, Hot steamy sexy times, drama, tragedy wow this book is a roller coaster of emotions told so well, you'll laugh, cry, be hot and bothered and cry some more. Sy's story truelly is a tragedy told about a man trying to move on after the ultimate devastation I can think of any human being going through..The first book was only 99¢ which was awesome and what lead me to give this author and book a chance. Again I am not a huge fan of the typical MC books out there they all seem the same, stuck on rinse repeat cycle, Not these books. These books are definitely ones I will watch for and buy no matter what. River Savage is definitely one of my new favorite authors to follow. Thank you for a truly brilliant emotional sexy read..

An absolutely superb book!

We were introduced to Sy and Holly in Nix and Kadence's story in Incandescent. The timeline starts partly through that, through Sy's and Holly's point of view.

We know of the crazy-as-heck Holly, who's not afraid to step up, until an incident crashes it all down on her.

-I can't be fixed.-

Sylas Dean, also known as Sy, has gone through the trauma of loss and heartbreak and thinks of himself as beyond saving. But seeing his own self reflected in Holly, and add on his inability to leave her, the two of them head towards a journey of trust. Trusting one not to break the other.

-Darkness has stolen her, and something in me needs to be the person to save her.-

Sy is a rough one but his inner self makes you cry for him. For what he's been through. And for what he's going through with Holly.

-Giving up is self-defeat, while letting go is self-care.-

Seeing Holly at a loss and eventually finding her way back, was an experience.

Like in Incandescent, the bedroom scenes are steamy as always. As expected from #SuperSy. ;) River did a great job in this one. There was never a moment where you didn't feel a connection to her characters.

When they connect at such a level, who can deny such chemistry? Most importantly, how can you not love Sy and Holly?

This was an emotional read. River hit this one out of the park. Sy and Holly bring you tears, laughs and downright snot wiping emotion. Keep your hands and feet inside until the ride comes to a complete stop.

5 Emotionally Charged and Oh So VERY Sexy Stars

OK, MY 3 little words to Sy....... I LOVE YOU!!!!!! Yep, oh my, Sy was a huge chunk of sheer sexiness, he was stubborn, sweet, loving, caring and just EVERYTHING you could want in a man:) This man was just absolute perfection for me!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series and I, like many other fans of River Savage, couldn't wait to read about Sy and Holly and let me tell you it was everything I had hoped it to be and more!!!!! First off, Sy's backstory, holy hell, this guy had been through some serious emotional turmoil in his past and my heart broke for him. Holly, I loved her but yet felt frustrated with her at the same time..... I could understand both of their roles in delaying the inevitable that was brewing in between them but I also wish that they had both been able to talk to each other sooner rather than later! But then again that's what makes their story all worth it in the end and yes, the end.....LOVED it!!!!!

Congrats River Savage on another home run in this series and PLEASE, oh PLEASE keep these stories coming:)

Loved loved it! I was totally sold on this author after reading Incandescent the first book in this series. This one effing rocks! It pulls at your heartstrings and leaves you a breathless emotional wreak with tears, sadness, laughter, and smiles. River's writing style makes the storyline and characters come alive on the page, so realistic and emotional. Sy has a past where he's been to hell and back leaving him quiet and broken inside. OMG, he's broody, bossy, intense, and hot as hell. Holly is a sassy firecracker and so self confident. She endures a tragedy that leaves her an emotional wreck. Sy becomes her rock to depend. He can relate to her pain and wants heal her. Holly becomes Sy's "sunshine" and pulls him out of the darkness. They were perfect for each other. I loved the friendship that blossomed between them along with their flaming chemistry. Good Lord, some of the things that come out of his mouth would melt a nun's panties. This is a definite must read and would highly recommend. When a book stays with you days after reading, it's a winner!

I brought this book after one clicking book one as a freebieeeee and needing to find out Holly and Sy's story. I must say I was not disappointed.

We see the turmoil in Sy's past and many things are brought to the light for Holly and Sy. Getting past - past demons, learning to love and forgive and move forward is a struggle for them both.

A well delivered second installment in the series. Really enjoyed the authors writing style, plot and the dam hot smoking sex scenes !! Crude but downright hot haha ** sheesh **

We see characters brought forth from the previous book and this was an added bonus to see them as I enjoy each and every one of them.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves foul mouthed but hot bikers, sexy as in characters and smexy loving.. or should I say fxxxxng haha.

Standing Ovation!!!!!!!!OMG!!! I need MORE...PLEASE!! I'm just in awe of River Savage's work right now. My body has been consumed...heart, mind, body, and soul from the first page. My eyes are crying from tears of joy and happiness and tears of heart break and sadness. The waterworks fall with the magical and touching words she have created. My heart is pounding from being melted and broken from Sy and Holly's actions and words...and sometimes silence. They say actions speak louder than words, but I think River has nailed it with her words! Get ready to give your heart the of ride of its life with this sexy, bad boy biker Sy!

Affliction by River Savage is the second book in the Knight's Rebel MC Series. It focuses on Sy who is another biker in the MC. He is a tattoo artist and a man of very few words, beyond taciturn most of the time. His attitude though is all biker! Holly is an argument waiting to happen. She does not take any crap and dishes it with the best of them. Sy is her Achilles heel and she is his. Together they are a squall, a tempest with sparks shooting everywhere... The difficulty is both of them keep secrets a little too well and you know how secrets can just grow and grow into unmanageable walls.

I do not have the words I need to tell you how emotional this book is. I cried so hard in a couple of places...the words and the emotions of the characters became so real, that I took them on as my own. I do have the words to tell you I LOVED THIS BOOK. It is a great read by a new author to me, one who I will want to read again and again and again!

Extraordinary story from beginning to end, heavy on the emotions as well as on the heart, but still done with such an awe of perfection. duel character pov's to help give you that emotional bond with the characters, a storyline that has you focused and involved that you can't stop reading, drama, suspense, mystery, and a love and passion that will light it's self on fire, that it's beyond hot, it also play's with your heart strings that makes it hard to read though the tears at times, but will also make your heart melt in many ways. Holly & Sy story is the 2nd in the series and is alot more heart heavy at times but will grab you just as hard as Nix & Kadence story did. this story is another incredible 5 stars that will melt your heart that I recommend as a must read.. and totally looking forward to what will happen next in this mc club <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

WOW!!! (long sigh with smile)... SO DIFFERENT THAN THE 1st book..so different than most books I have read. Holly and Sy meet in the first book and you do not think much about it until the ending and then you go.. WAIT, WHAT? I really missed something. So this book steps back and explains but does it with out telling the entire story again. I tells specific parts of their meeting and things that occurr and is told very well and it not too fast or too slow. Then when it gets more to the current it digs into an emotional battle they have to fight on their own but at the same time needing to be with each other. To see Mr. Baddass biker Sy not loose his man card and continue to be Badass biker but be able to give Holly the time and space she needs and to hear his back story pulls the story completely together... Well worth the read.

This book is an emotional roller coaster. But a good one! The emotion portrayed is so real, especially if you have ever found yourself in Holly or Sy's shoes, that you have no choice but to be sucked into the story. The events in this story are so real and so heart gripping. You will fall in love with both characters from the beginning * you have already met them if you read Incandescent. Must read it first* So you know the back story already. I thought I loved Nix, and I do, but personal events in my life make me relate and sympathize with Sy and Holly both. I laughed and I cried during this book and I was upset only because it ended. I seriously did not want this book to end. River Savage has stole my heart and made me a faithful fan. This book deserves more than 5 stars. and River deserves some kind of reward for this book. It is truly amazing.
