Dutch Sheets has wonderfully explained the process of prayer for anybody. He explains Bible based insight on prayer that theologians or everyday Christians can explore and put into practice daily. I am recommending Intercessory Prayer to my friends and fellow church members. It's a must for Bible truth seekers.

Prayer is probably the single most misunderstood and neglected authority God's children can engage in. Intercessory prayer, the prayers from one willing to intercede on behalf of another, is, to my mind, is the most powerful prayer to lovingly change the life events of another. Sheets is an awesome, approachable teacher. By the way, if this particular book is too "advanced", try his other work; "The Beginner's Guide to Intercessory Prayer." These are vital books for reading and re-reading for the library of any Christian wanting to engage this power of love.

My church Prayer Ministry Leader suggested "Intercessory Prayer" to our Prayer Team. I am learning so much about how to be a better intercessory prayer warrior. I would recommend Dutch Sheets books to anyone who feels led to be more effective in their prayer life. I will also be ordering Dutch Sheets follow-up book "Authority in Prayer". Some traditional Christians (including myself) might at first be concerned that Dutch is a Charismatic Pentecostal, and that his views might be construed as "out there" a bit. I got over that quickly however, as I studied his profound insights into the power of deep, intercessory prayer. You won't go wrong with this one.

I must admit I have not enjoyed intercession in the past - but Dutch Sheets adds heights and depths I had not understood before. This is exciting; this is insightful; here is hope; here are weapons for the battle. Get it! Read it!

Dutch Sheets is an amazing author. This book makes intercessory prayer alive and easy to understand. This one book alone is all anyone needs to approach God on behalf of another. I will be going using this resource again and again to guide me as I intercede in prayer. I enjoy the author's sense of humor as well as his knowledge of the Holy Bible and his subject. I highly recommend Intercessory Prayer to anyone who wants to "stand in the gap" .

This book is full of stories and good solid instruction on how to pray and intercede for others and for your needs. I never knew all of these principals existed. I am excited about what I have learned. This is not a "sit down and read it through in one session" kind of book. If you are serious about learning about intercessory prayer, you must take time to reflect on the goodness offered in each chapter.

This is an easy to read, but deep and provocative text, explaining prayer based on biblical concepts and personal experience. I believe this is one of the best books ever written on prayer. Underscoring its concepts is a rock solid and very understandable presentation of the basics of Christianity, upon which it builds a theological and practical understanding of prayer. Everyone will be changed by reading this book! Thank you.

This book has reignited my conviction and spurred my on to pray with more intensity and frequency. Dutch inspires instructs and illustrates with great clarity, biblical insight, powerful examples and engaging humor. It is the perfect blend of theological principles and practical application. Every believer should read this book.

Though I am not completely finished with this great book, it has provided a sound foundation for training the congregation in the ministry of Intercession. Pastor Sheets approaches the subject with clarity and from the beginning by thoroughly explaining what Intercessory Prayer is-this is key as many believers and non-believers alike have limited insight into the power of Intercession. I will be using this book for our church's fall Intercessory Prayer Ministry launch.

This is a great, instructive resource on prayer in general - not just for those "super-spiritual" prayer warriors called to intercession. I have bought this book several times to give away and have read it twice myself. Very solid teaching that really digs in to the Word, but also very accessible and easy to read. There are many personal testimonies included as well. This book was life changing for me. I highly recommend it for anyone who needs encouragement in prayer and/or wishes to revolutionize their prayer life!

Dutch Sheets does a wonderful job of answering all the questions you may have, but are ashamed to ask, about prayer. Reading this book, and discussing it with others who have read it, I feel much more confident in prayer, and I look forward to my prayer time more. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who feels they need to take their prayer life to a higher level, as well as someone who is just beginning their journey into prayer.

While I certainly believe in the power of prayer, the theology in this book seems to be inadequate, at times making it seem almost as though God answers to man. I have a degree in Biblical Studies, and I simply cannot agree with that view. I think there are some very good points made in this book, but cannot give it an excellent rating as I think some lines of thought are simply taken too far and beyond good theological soundness and Biblical truth. I would have at least liked to see a better explanation of these thoughts, which seemed more like opinion based on some form of flawed logic rather than the result of a deep understanding or intense study. Perhaps I just didn't understand the point, but my fear is that others may come up with the same misunderstanding if indeed that is the case.

I feel this is the most important book that Pastor Sheets has written,
it will definitely lead you into a deeper prayer life.
There are no gimmicks, bells or whistles just plain old insights
on how to live your life in HIS 'Secret Place'.

Recommend highly. You may find some issues you have questions about, but I encourage you to focus on what is clear and understandable. Author documents 99% of his statements with scripture. I wondered about a couple of areas and wasn't able to confirm them with scripture myself, but I learned volumes from the 99% I didn't need to wonder about. Also helps to read with an eye towards what the Bible actually teaches, rather than what I learned growing up in one particular church. Again, recommended.
