I have enjoyed this book, but am disappointed because I did not realize that there were video lessons that go along with each week. The videos were not mentioned anywhere. I can not access the videos and therefore feel like I am missing out on valuable info and tools.

Package arrived early, book looks really nice. The study/contents of the book are not what I am used to. Too much of the author and not The Word. Written possibly for beginner bible studiers. Poor interest in my group in he book and video series. The author wrote a book with a few fill in the blanks. Too much going back and underlying the words of the author and not of The Bible. Way too wordy of a bible study book for me. I am used to getting into The Bible and not the authors description of a story. The author can tell a story well, but I don't go into bible study to hear a story, I go to learn more about God and The Bible.

Our Women's Bible Study group did this study this fall. We truly enjoyed the DVD teaching and learning more about Gideon...someone we knew litte about before this study. I would recommend it to other groups.

Product arrived and the front page was torn. The inside was clean and not used so my wife decided to keep it as it's a workbook for her study group and needed it now. If we had more time before the study then I would have sent it back. If you order something "new" it should arrive as if you just took it off the shelf. Otherwise the book was in good condition and was useable for her study group.

This was a fantastic study. Done in combination with her DVD series. Priscilla Shirer speaks I an effective manner. These workbooks make a Greg reference tool. Our group enjoyed it and learned a lot about perseverance.

Theology seems thin. Also, the book that goes with the video is basically a bunch of fill in the blanks, 'underline this on page 20', circle this or that, and not a lot of real critical thinking going on. Her bend toward Dispensationalism is clear and she tends to lean toward 'proseperity gospel.' She lost a star (originally I had given it two) for "hashtag lessons" at the end of each lesson. How trendy and silly. She says to 'write down your #lessonfromgideon' at the end of each one. That is when I just couldn't stomach it anymore. I mean, #really?!?

I was thoroughly disappointed with this purchase, I received it, the creases on the front and back cover was horrible and there was writing and highlights all throughout the book. I can't believe they would sell it like this, so disappointing!!

This was my first Priscilla Shirer bible study, and while I did enjoy her as a teacher and loved her enthusiasm on the videos, I did not like this material. I led a small group of 10 ladies, and all of us were in agreement that the material was VERY repetitive after the 3rd or 4th week. Part of it, is that the Gideon story in the bible is so short. I think this would have been good as a 4 week course. We felt like the questions were making us focus on ourselves, and not God, they made us have pity parties for ourselves, which is not what a bible study should be. I will say, that although I didn't care for this study, I would definitely do another one of her studies.

In both this book and her Jonah study, the author holds to a view that your suffering is your fault or your ancestors' fault. Her theology of spiritual warfare is that it happens to the people who AREN'T following God, not those who ARE, which doesn't match any spiritual warfare theology I have studied.

In this seven session video study, Priscella Shirer leads participants through three quick chapters in Judges where the story of Gideon is told. The study has six weeks of homework that take about 20-30 minutes a day to complete (five days a week), which is common for this sort of Bible study. Priscilla is so down to earth in her videos that participants will feel drawn to hear more of her stories!
This study is going to resonate mostly with mothers, simply because of Priscilla's vantage. While you might be able to do the homework and glean a good chunk of wisdom from just doing the work in the workbook, you really should pair it with the video and group discussion to get everything from it.

This study is changing our lives. We are looking at our weaknesses in a different way and realizing that God can take our weaknesses and give us His power. Our ladies have related to Gideon in many ways. I would highly recommend this Bible study.

Absolutely amazing bible study! Priscilla is such a wonderful teacher and her passion to share and teach is so obvious in the videos that go along with this book. I’ll never forget the lessons learned over the past 7 weeks!

Paired with a video series, this study asks the reader to cover 176 pages in six weeks. Needless to say, it demands commitment from the reader. However, Shirer's weaving of commentary, questions, and personal anecdotes makes for an "easy read." However, her questions and line of thinking are certainly not to be labeled "easy." Shirer explains in depth the situation surrounding Gideon and the Israelites. Furthermore, she does not answer the questions she poses; instead, she assumes the reader will answer correctly. Her use of observation, interpretation, application, and correlation questions throughout the study creates a cadence to the study. The reader seamlessly moves between observing something in the text to thinking how that applies to his or her own life.
Within the study are aids to help with interpretation. She includes "digging deeper" sections that contain more detailed information on key theological concepts i.e. the deliverance principle on pg 15. Also, maps and fill in the blank charts enable the reader to organize thoughts more clearly. Shirer sets about this study in an academic yet relatable fashion.
Her personal anecdotes paired with her extensive knowledge give Shirer's commentary an air of trustworthiness. A reader could easily feel led and instructed by the author throughout this series. Furthermore, a leader's guide caps the study guide revealing Shirer's heart to equip groups to complete the study.
Overall, this study requires time and thought from the reader. I am encouraged that this level of study has found so much success in female, Christian circles.

Excellent, excellent Bible study!! Eye-opening and revealing. I have learned truths and tools that I will take with me for the rest of my life's journey. Priscilla Shirer is truly anointed. If you have a chance to view the videos along with reading this book, I highly recommend that you do so. This Bible study is life changing.

This was my first and last Priscilla Shirer study. She is a very charismatic and engaging speaker but there were so many times I could not reconcile what she was saying with what the actual Scriptures were saying. I would look at multiple translations and commentaries and just could not get get her words to agree with Scripture. Very frustrating.

My mother is enjoying her study with this book, but since she is 83 and recently had eye surgery, she needs VERY large print to read and if the book was available on the Kindle it would be so helpful.

This book starts of strong with background knowledge of Gideon and typical information necessary for the study. About the last few weeks it digresses into opinion instead of fact. This book spurred me on each lesson to look at the story of Gideon and how those circumstances apply to my life. Shirer has a small mistake in this book which was disappointing. I don't really recommend it.
