The 4 processes of becoming an adult apply simultaneously both in the emotional and spiritual level. The author is a good steward of talents given by God. I pray to God that this book can always be used to serve Him so that people are to be leading on a road towards healthy growth into the real adulthood.

This book will turn your life upside down, to right-side up, and maybe inside-out as well. Dr. Cloud present four challenges that will lead you on a path of intense personal discovery. You will at times be breathless at the revelations the book makes of the human heart, but you will not be hopeless. The cure is always the same - the deep, deep love of Jesus.
It used to be said of the Puritan John Owen, that reading him was like a wise man searching around your own heart with a flashlight and coming up to explain what he found. Dr. Cloud, though not in the same theological vein as Owen, is surprisingly insightful to the same effect. Get ready to turn the lights on and look in the mirror.
But not without hope of being transformed, step by step, unto the image of the ultimate Lover of our souls - who cares enough to give us gifts like the astounding insights of this work by Dr. Cloud.

What an amazing helpful and encouraging dialogue about some of the most difficult areas in life to find peace in. We all are broken, but there are simple biblical solutions to our brokenness, we just have to walk through them with God once our eyes have been opened.
The Courage to Meet the Demands of Reality :: A Psychologist Learns from His Patients What Really Works and What Doesn't :: from the boardroom to the bedroom and beyond-and what to do about it :: Cruise (Moonshine Task Force Book 6) :: What the Bible Reveals About Personal Growth - How People Grow

This book will help you recognize the necessary steps one has to take to be happy and content with yourself and others. Everyone has some problem that needs to be dealt with and this shows how to gain a better understanding of what has to be done to beat an addiction, get over esteem issues, deal with problem people, perfectionism, etc. It will help to open your eyes to the keys to growth. We just have to be willing to do the work.

This book is amazing! It is helping me to develop healthier relationships with God and the people in my life. It's a perfect marriage of biblical truths, psychology, and practical application. I have told several people to order the book. I would encourage reading it with someone who can help support you and vice versa.

This book was so helpful in my struggles with anxiety and setting healthy boundaries. I highlighted so much of the book that when I typed up everything that stood out to me, it took up 16 pages!! I am so thankful for Dr. Cloud and this book. I also appreciate how much of it focuses on the Bible, not just his opinion. I have been recommending this book to everyone I talk to with struggles in their lives. I just cannot say enough good things about it!

I would recommend this book to anyone that may have dealt with any issues from the past, bonding, boundaries, not completing the becoming an adult process. It is so insightful! As a therapist it not only helped me but gave me a lot of insight into things my clients might be going through. I would recommend this book to anyone!

I choose to rate Changes That Heal 5 stars. Anyone that has a desire to get to resolve their issues of negative relationships, harmful desires, attitudes and behaviors, will receive clear, cohesive, God inspired teaching from this book.
The teachings of this book has helped restore me, not only with God, but with my relationships. I have facilitated one small group class that has now expanded enough to be two separate classes. I praise God for the healings this book promotes.

This book really puts things in perspective and help you understand how the dysfunctions of your early life need to be dealt with to become a "whole" person. Stop living with the ideas of dysfunction is the normal and get healed. Look back so you can look forward.

More comprehensive and practical than almost anything out there! Yes, healing from our past can and will take time, but it DOES and can happen this side of eternity. For anyone like me whose beginnings were skewed so where your understanding of reality was "subjective" in much part due to parental demands for universal submission, this is a huge blessing.
I appreciate the permission and insistence of Dr. Cloud to see and relate to our parents in a healthy manner, which means being able to operate lovingly apart from their "shoulds."

I've tried therapy several times because I have felt stuck in life especially in family relationships.
I would see therapists and get good advice but it felt lacking and didn't last.
This book brings a way to change myself using a Biblically based approach that helped me see how to stop thinking that the areas I was stuck in were due to either me being wrong or someone else being wrong.
But instead of finding blame Dr. Cloud led me to see that Grace and Mercy allow healing and growth without needing to judge or blame myself or others in order to finally get beyond and start living and growing

"Changes that Heal" has been a life changing book for me. It is a good overview and beginning read for making lasting life changes. Each chapter and topic is well written and includes helpful real life examples.
I read it once on my own and then again with a small group. You get out of the book what you put into it. I recommend it for any who are feeling "stuck" or experiencing hurt.

This book has helped me in my marriage relationship more than any other book I have ever read because it helped me to understand the deep issues within myself which was causing problems I did not even know existed. If a person really wants to dig deep into their soul and find meanings for our healing, this is the book. It is so well written and easy to understand I have purchased several to give to others that I think might be helped by Dr. Cloud's expertise.

I found this book to be helpful personally as well as in counseling. It seems to be looking at serious emotional issues, as the examples show, but it can be used for us "normal" folks, too. Easy to read.
