Wonderful advice on surviving normal day to day life as well as a whammy! Life gives us some real challenges & Dr. Cloud gives some really good ways to handle the hard things, the battles, the heartaches! It works!

Dr. Cloud has taken universal principles of life and spelled them out in plain English, with true life examples to illustrate each one (with characters he refers to as dejavu people).
Once you read this book you will realize you've been given a great gift in your life, one that will make every relationship in your life better --- if you're willing to apply these Truths.
This book will go on my shelf as a "To Read Again".
This very well may go down as an "adder" to my Classics collection,
I trust you will enjoy this book all the same!

Generally when I read these types of books, I tend to lose steam quickly. With this book however, I was hooked from beginning to end. Dr. Cloud provides the reader with realistic improvements that can be made to oneself in order to gain success in life.
from the boardroom to the bedroom and beyond-and what to do about it :: Cruise (Moonshine Task Force Book 6) :: Dangerous Fling (Dangerous Noise Book 4) :: Convict: A Bad Boy Romance :: The Courage to Meet the Demands of Reality

Great breakdown of the behaviour patterns of successful people written from a Christian perspective. Dr. Cloud presents relatable life illustrations of healthy patterns that lead to success and unhealthy patterns that prevent it. He also offers practical steps for adopting healthy behaviours and eliminating unhelpful behaviours. Very useful for relationships and life in general.

I highly recommend this book! Dr. Cloud has been an inspiration through his Boundaries series books as well, this book provides 'nuggets' of insight for growth and is definitely on the re-read list - more is gained each time it is read!

Despite the author's good writing and organsizing skills, his heavy use of Biblical scriptures makes the readability and helpfulness of the book highly dependent on the religion and faith of individual readers. Potential buyers, beware!

p.s. Whilst the reviews from Garrett Kikuyama and Angela S. Sullivan had offered the best possible summaries in their reviews, I still would like to quote some favorite passages of mine for your reference.
Tiger Woods grew up with Jack Nicklaus major tournament record pasted to the headboard of his bed. It was the first thing he saw every morning when he woke up and the last thing he saw at night. He was playing the movie of his future, winning more major tournamanents than the king of golf. pg93
Certain things, ifnot seen as lovely or detestable, are not being correctly seen at all. - C.S. Lewis pg139
Character is in part formed by what we hate because we move to be different from whatever that is. pg144
Pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right. - Ezra Taft Benson pg189
Humility is not having a need to be more than you are. pg193
People who think they have it all together are infected with a terrible sickness, and they do not even know it. They flatter themselves, as David said, too much to see where they miss the mark.( Psalm 36:2) pg202
Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse. - Proverbs 9:7 pg204
What you should do, and hwat someone's response is going to be, are two very different issues. pg221

From the cover, it appears that the book is marketed at the success oriented crowd. Dr. Cloud is identified as a psychologist and co-author of the best selling 'Boundaries'. We have to go to the back flap to detect the biblical orientation via a citation of his previously published 'God Will Make A Way'.
There are wonderful biblical quotes that illustrate points made along the way and the context freshens our perceptions of biblical wisdom.
The brief, but very helpful concluding chapter might be read first. Here, we get a little from the author on how he came to make a success of 'Success'. He very frankly offers 12 steps toward applying the 9 things, and the first is 'Do Not Go It Alone'. It seems Dr. Cloud came up in a community of like minded folk who could support each other's ambitions.
In the absence of such support, 'you are not going to go far'.
With chapter 12 in mind, you might very profitably read the book from front to back and keep it handy for future encouragement.

This is absolutely my favorite "self help" book I have ever read. Although I am fortunate enough to have succeeded in both love and life, I found this book incredibly enlightening! There are tangeled elements to my life that I had never quite resolved that this book miraculously untangeled for me! I wish I had read it when I was in my 20s, but I have recommended it to several 20+ year olds that I know. Those that read it always remark about how helpful it is.

I often go back and reread it. It seems I get more out of it each time! Thank you, Dr. Cloud!
