I was getting Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site for my son and decided on the box set. GGCS is a cute book that follows various different pieces of construction equipment as they go through their bedtime routines. The pictures are on the dark side but in a soothing way. The story is cute but it takes a bit too much time to get the cadence of the rhyme right. There are a couple of places where I improvise because I just can't seem to make the original words fit. All in all it is a cute book.
Steam Train, Dream Train is a bit more abstract and vague for my tastes. It uses the same type of dark illustrations but since the story is a bit more vague sometimes the pictures seem a little out of place. If I did it again I would only buy GGCS and leave off STDT.

By far the best books I've ever gotten for the kids. It's been over 6 months and my now 2.5 yr still loves both these books and we read them at least every other night. Very good rhyming that flows really well (and I know it by heart now) and it's not too long but definitely long enough. Tough books too and that's a good things since our boy is a rough one. I'm sure the full size books would be great too but I think he likes the smaller versions better. We have a few books like chugga chugga choo choo which he does really like but it's pretty big. Also I don't tend to let him play with those books as much as these because these are hard pages all the way though.

I am mixed on this set . Got bc high reviews . Toddler likes it . I'm not sure it lives up to the hype. The colors are really dark in both books, art isn't so great. Typically we LOVE the symplistic and old fashioned type artwork in boos, but this is just dull. I would recommend looking up pictures of the books and decide for yourself.

I purchased these books for my 3 year old son for Christmas, and now that it is after Easter I am ready to write a review. I don't typically write book reviews, but my son loves these books so much that I had to tell others how great they are! He asks for these stories every night at bedtime which makes me very glad that this is a 2 pack with different stories so I don't have to read the same story everynight! If you have a truck/train crazy child these will be a hit in your house for bedtime stories!

Both of these books are great, and in the sturdy little box they make it easy to carry both in the car on a road trip or something. And they are typical rugged board books so they can take the beating a toddler will give them.

STEAM TRAIN DREAM TRAIN

I love this book as a bed time story. It's calm. It's soothing. It really ends a day well.

The illustrations are done in dark colors so it's calming.

For the most part it's all about a train full of toys, sort of like the train from the Little Engine that Could. Then there is a minor plot twist at the end that's super fun.

I read this one as a bed time story about 3 times a week and it's not getting old.

GOODNIGHT GOODNIGHT CONSTRUCTION SITE

The illustrations in this one are magnificent! They are super creative and bring life to the trucks and other construction equipment. They give the trucks faces and they use the environment as props. Just a dirt pile is a pillow for one truck, or steel beams on a construction project make ZzZzZzzZzz's to show another truck snoring. It's really creative!

The story isn't as good as Steam Train Dream Train, but it's nice. It's simple. Each page is another truck doing one last thing before going to sleep for the night.

It's a good calming book and I probably read it to my toddler once a week.

My little one loves these books, particularly the 'Goodnight goodnight construction site'. The only reason I did not give these 5 stars is because the text on the book is hard to read under dim lights. The font is quite small and I don't want to have the lights fully on when I'm reading my toddler a goodnight story. As a comparison, I typically read him 'Where do diggers sleep at night' and the font on this book is really easy to read under the same dim lights. Otherwise, the graphics are great, and the story is nice too.

My 18 month old loves these books. They have great illustrations and are nice bed time stories not too short but not too long (my tot will lose interest if the books are too long). I love finding great board books because we still have not learned to not rip up the pages but he loves to flip through the pages on his own:)

These books go hand in hand so well, its great to have a little sleeve to keep them together. We try to read them back to back because I feel that they compliment each other so well.

Goodnight, Goodnight... breaks down the different type of construction trucks and how each one winds down to prepare for bed after a busy day. Steam Train... narrates the fictional purposes for all of the different types of train cars as the animals load them for a journey in the night.

Both stories are great at setting the mood for bedtime and both are a huge success at bed time in my house.

Listen, this is probably the most important review I have ever written as a mother, a fellow toddler bedtime warrior. Get these books RIGHT. NOW. Especially if you have a kid who loves trains, big trucks, etc.

My 2 y/o son has always fought sleep, its just what he does. It's hard to find books that both keep his interest, but don't get him all excited and wanting to play. These are exactly that!! He literally just fell asleep the second time through reading Construction Site!!

I cannot say enough good things. These are amazing. Buy them for you and everyone you know! All of the stars!

So nice to have these favorites in board books so little loving hands can enjoy them. The lovely illustrations help make a story just as long as we need it to be. Or the actual 'story' can be pretty short if we need it that way.

We've only been reading these books for a few nights, but they're already favorites of my 2 year old. Perfect bedtime books. The rhyme and rhythm settles my son right down and puts him in a sleepy mood.

The first time I read Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site to my son, it worked it's magic and he fell right asleep! It is a very calming read. I found Steam Train Dream Train not as awesome, but still a great read, and my son loved seeing the animals and the "choo choo!"

This is the current go to night time book for our 3 year old. He picks goodnight construction site to read first then wants the steam train, dream train. At first I didn't really like the steam train book but it has grown on me to be a fun read. I think these are wonderful bedtime books.

Love these 2 little books. I bought them for my twin 2-year boys who are all about trucks/trains and anything that moves. I personally prefer the construction story book over the the train but both are being enjoyed by both of my boys (and even my 4 year old daughter)

Bought this as an add on for Christmas. My son loves both books. The stories are very cute and he even likes opening the pages and telling us what is happening. Beware the stories may make you sleepy yourself.

Goodnight goodnight construction site is the most sexist children’s book I’ve ever read. The descriptions are all “tough” and “strong” and every truck is given a masculine identity. The hue of the colors in the book are very dark (night time theme, I get that), but it’s difficult to see the images in a room with dim lighting. We enjoy Steam Train Dream Train, but skip the other. I much prefer “where do diggers sleep at night” which does a great job of having masculine and feminine characters in their book. I’m just astonished this book is a best seller.
