Chashan and his mate Khaza have been mated for 100 years and for that time, they have been hoping for a dragonlet. Sadly, it hasn't happened. Erica, a woman in labor, was found by Khaza on the beach and brought to the Preor Medical Center. Erica and her unborn child were in deep trouble. Erica was hemorrhaging badly. Erica wanted Chashan to save her baby before herself. Although Chashan tried to save them both, Erica passed away. Her son, Eric survived and Khaza now has to fulfill a promise she made to Erica...that she and Chashan would raise Eric as their dragonlet. But Eric is human and Erica has a sister. Will the authorities remove Eric from Chashan and Khaza's care and place him with his aunt?

This is a short, sweet story about loss and love that had me tearful and laughing in turn. For me, that's Celia Kyle's talent...pulling all kinds of emotion from the reader at the appropriate time. It's why I've loved reading all of the Dragons of Preor books and am impatient to read the next one.

Gives new meaning to short and sweet. Really, really short. As in it will take you only a few minutes to read. If one can write something like this and get people to pay a buck for it, then I am in the wrong business. The story is cute, but doesn't really add anything to the Preor series unless this story is needed to update the storyline for future books. But, I find that when an author starts doing this kind of thing, they seem to be losing interest in a series they are writing. And at this point, I think I am too.

Loved the little short story! I just wished that it was carried forward just a bit longer.
It was told to me as a child and later witnessed by me that some women who have been barren conceive a baby after they take another baby into their care. ( this is true)
So it would be possible that Khaza would conceive on her next heat cycle.

Like many other reviewers stated, this is an extremely short story. The resolve wasn't satisfying, no papers were signed, the dad isn't consulted, the earth reps weren't involved. . . Yeah, the resolve was so fast, glossed over, and done.

I wondered why Chashan out of all the dragon shifters, was able to bond with a female Preor. One of the rare few. In other books he comes across as controlling, always right, doesn't bend. This story shows a glimpse of him but not enough to deepen his character.

I wanted to know why the dragon toddlers were 'inspired' to make gems, specifically for Eric. Is there some telepathy going on between children? Why did the human die? Does she have a disease and is this something to worry the Preor? Why was she all on her own, without friends or support? Why wasn't her story told?

What's written is good but it was an introduction without any backup. I was going to pass on writing a review but saw so many felt like me. . .Even if you've read all the other stories like I have, this is one to skip. It's filler. - Dan's Wife

To say this is short is oversimplified because I read this glimpse into the Preor world in about an hour. That having been said it was lovely to catch up with Healing Master Chashan as he's been present and indeed vital in so many previous stories. Now we learn of his love for his mate Khaza and the sadness that haunts them as they are still after all these years without Dragonlets of their own . Khaza is no ordinary Preor though she's what they call a Heart Master which means she feels the emotions that can cripple many and her only thoughts are to help soothe so when she senses Erica a human female in unbearable pain she doesn't hesitate but her actions have consequences !
This is short admittedly so there isn't any background surrounding the woman that Khaza seeks to help. However I thought this story was primarily a devise to show the warmer side of Chashan and in that it worked brilliantly . I loved that the author slyly incorporated the infamous twins and whilst not exactly present we do learn that they are still causing their parents to no doubt tear their hair out at times! There is something I didn't like and that's the actions of Ericas relative but as it allowed for a happy and very smelly ending I'm ok with it.
This is one definitely for the fans of the Preor filled with warmth, humour and of course love!
This voluntary review is my honest opinion

I finished this book in about 12 minutes. I looked all over the description page, but couldn't find any mention of a page count. My guess is about 35. Pitifully short, and not nearly enough coverage given to an interesting subject. With a bit of effort, the author could have a wonderful full-length novel. I adore the Preor & their culture. I wish this book was fully fleshed out. This entire story would probably have been better as a side-plot in a longer book. I'd like to hear about the baby's father, and it might have been more interesting if Eric's aunt were a mate not just another greedy human. In general, I adore everything Ms. Celia writes. That's why it is painful to see this mess get published by her.

Heart Master Khaza and Healing Master Chashan have been mates for a long time. The only thing missing from their lives is a family complete with baby dragons. Khaza is feeling a strong longing for a child but she submerges it in her work of helping other dragons find their mates. She is at the choosing station helping soothe emotions at a choosing when she feels great anguish. She follows the feelings of pain to the beach where she finds a heavily pregnant human women in great distress. The woman Erica is taken to the healing master and it is a strugle to save the woman and her baby. Finally at Erica's request, the save the baby but Erica is too far gone.
Khaza mentally swore an oath to Erica to take care of her baby. She wants to be the mother of the baby boy. Now she just has to convince her husband to break the human law and help her keep her baby.
This is a good quick story that shows a slice of life in the Preors. I was glad to learn more about Khaza and Chashan. I voluntarily read a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Finally Healer Chashan and his Preor mate Khaza have a dragonlet even though the baby is human they are grateful to Syh for the chance to become a family and will do all in their power to ensure their son remains in their loving care and protection. Chashan had tried to save the pregnant female who wanted to become a Preor mate but had complications when taken to their medical facility. The babies mother Erica knew she was dying and requested they save her child and then asked Khaza to care for her child. Erica had wanted him to born into a Preor family so Khaza would ensure that was going to happen with Chashan as his father and her his mother. Khaza had made a blood vow to raise him as their own it did not matter that he was human they would learn all there was to know about rearing babies and be the best possible parents. Now Chashan just had to make sure that the Earth authorities knew he was a Preor and all would be well. A big thank you to Celia Kyle/Erin Tate for the this lovely review copy. Love this series.

Oh man. Khaza and Chashan are finally getting their chance to start a family. It might not be in the most conventional way, but one does what one has to do to make things happen, right?

Only...things aren't as easy as just starting a family. There's some convincing that needs to be done. While Khaza knows exactly what she needs to do, Chashan needs a wee bit of encouragement to see things her way.

Just a little bit, though. You know, because those Preor are all about making sure their mates are happy.

A sweet little slice of life that made me smile.

I received this book to read with the understand that I can leave a honest and voluntary review.

This is a short book about the Healing Master Chahan and his Preor mate the Heart Master Khaza. They have been mates for 100 years and with every mating heat Khaza has not been able to conceive a youngling for them. So when she as the Heart Master is drawn to a woman who is in pain she feels like this woman was brought into their lives for a reason. The problem she will have is getting her mate to agree with her. Will they both get what their heart desires or will they be left hurting in the end?

There is so much I want to tell you about this book but because it is so short I don't want to ruin it for others. I will say it will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone.

I borrowed this book with Kindle Unlimited and want to thank the author for offering her books in the program. I loved this VERY FREAKIN' short story. Can you tell that I wanted it to be longer? The Master Healer and the Heart Master have helped out continually throughout the series and it was about time that we got a little more information on these two. This is one of those stories that makes you feel deeply for the main characters. The circumstances surrounding the baby just adds more heart to the story. I REALLY wish it had been longer and gone into a more detail but the story is well worth reading even if it is short and leaves you wanting more. There is a definite happy conclusion to the story. And I am glad to see that the twins are using their powers for good even if it causes mayhem. Grab this great addition to the series.

Sweet addition to the Preor storyline. I have loved this entire series. It is well written and flows well. There is some angst and the effort to overcome life's hardships. It is a short story about the Dragon Healer Chashan and his mate Kahza who are a Preor couple who have been mated for a century, with no child of their own. A human woman gives birth and Chashan is unable to save the mother. Kahza who is a mind healer makes a promise to raise the child in the Preor way. This is their story of the fight to keep the child as their own. This story is different because it focuses on two Preor mates instead of Preor/Human. I was given an arc of this book for an honest review. The only criticism I have is that it was so short. But what can you expect for the price! I loved it and recommend it.

I absolutely loved this story!!!! I loved getting to know Khaza and Chashan better. We have seen them throughout the series and this time they get to be center of attention. They have been mated a long time but have not been blessed with a child. This is a really short, quick read but I really loved it. We get to see Khaza and Chashan get their family, even if it wasn't exactly how they expected it. This story does have an explicit sex scene. I thought this story was absolutely adorable and really enjoyed reading it. I love this series and can't wait for the next book.
This book can be read as a stand alone but you will probably get more enjoyment out of it if you have read other books in the series.

This book was definitely shorter than any of the others written in this collection.
Chashan and his mate are both Preor and are unable to birth a drogonlet of their own.
It omits information to elaborate the story in ways the other books have provided the reader, but is worthy of reading as it adds to the overall effects of the series.
Loss, love and humor are included.
It could have been written with so much more from the amazing imagination of this author, and would have achieved a higher rating of done so...
But.
I it was nice to have a change.
Hopefully, any further installments resume as the previous books to enthrall and capture the attention of the reader.

Heart Master Khaza wants to get her mate Healing Master Chashan an dragonet. She is beginning to think that she will never give her mate a child. Khaza finds a pregnant woman who is having trouble with delivery. The woman was trying to get a Preor mate. The woman dies while giving birth. Khaza wants to honor the dying wish of the woman to keep the woman child safe. Khaza decides she is going to keep the . child and give Chashan a dragonet. Preor insured that Chashan and Khaza can keep the child of their hearts. This story gives insight to how Preor couple must feel and how they deal with the issues plaguing Preor race. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

I love the Dragons of Preor series and this story of Chashan and Khaza is a lovely short story. The dragons are very lucky to conceive but for Chashan and Khaza this has not happened in the 100 years they have been together. Khaza finds a human woman giving birth. Erica dies giving birth to her son but entrusts him to Khaza. Khaza immediately falls in love with the tiny human baby and decides to keep him. It's a lovely story but I would have loved it to be longer.

Imagine you have lived for hundreds of years with an alien husband you really respect and love. Now imagine that all the both of you preors ever wanted and prayed for is a child, but that does not seem to be in the cards for you. Then one day you are blessed with a human baby but the human gov't and others think you should give it up to his people. What would you do?
Well these aliens are not that different from you or me. They fight for their family.

This story was so adorable.
Seeing Chashan and Khaza become parents to baby Eric brought tears to my eyes. He is the son of their hearts and they'll love him as they would a dragonlet of their bodies.

I love these little novellas that are about characters we want to see happy but who don't necessarily warrant a full book.

A quick short read that explains what a heart master does. Very little character development, very little plot development, and big jumps over many events that could easily have been developed more fully into an actual book. Another example of mass publishing instead of quality publishing.

This was a super sweet but extremely short story that give us a glimpse of what it's like for a preors couple who really want a baby. But there window of opportunity to conceived is so short making it really hard for them to conceived. My heart literally broke for them but I'm glad that they both got the HEA they deserve. I wish it was longer, but the short constant that I was able to read was a good follow up on Chashan a Preor Healing Master and his mate Khaza. They are mated and have had no luck in getting a baby dragonlet. What happens when Khaza follows an inner call to help a hurt pregnant human? Will they ever be blessed with a dragonlet? I loved the sweet heart rendering story, however, I'm glad I got it on KU because of the length. It took me five minutes to read. Granted, I am a fast reader, but I reach the end looking for more. Sometimes I think authors rush to get something out. I'd rather have a great read with a longer wait then just throwing us a bone. Still, it was a fell good read.

Such a sweet pleasant story to read, well written as usual by Ms. Kyle. Wish it had been somewhat longer, but even though it was short it was perfect. Cover picture is of course great, who doesn't love a handsome male cuddling a precious baby? I received this to read and I can honetly say I enjoyed it! Story also gave some insight into the Preor thoughts and feelings. Well done!

A great short story about Healing Master Chashan and his mate, Heart Master Khaza. They have wanted a dragonlet for over a hundred years and come into possession of a human baby. Loved it! I always wondered what a Heart Master does, now I know. It is not as if we ever saw a warrior going to talk to the heart master about feelings.
This was a really short story, but it was so touching. Chashan and his mate Khaza finally get a child of their own to love. There's a little angst towards the beginning, but it was quickly resolved. If you love the Preor, you want this story.

Loved the story!
Khaza + Chashan wanted a child, but they had no luck yet.

This story really touched me. The strength of a mothers love and the live a dragon has for his mate. Quite simply a beautiful story not long but nonetheless a very satisfying read.
