Loved the sexy start to Pamela Clare's latest, but soon found myself wishing for the intensity and rapid fire action of her I-Team series. I'm a big fan of Pamela Clare's I-Team series and that might have raised my expectations too much. I missed her super competent heroines and alpha males who braved danger, intrigue, and big time sexual tension. Slow Burn instead gave us Victoria and Eric who tentatively danced around each other far too long before suddenly tumbling into ILYs just a short time. It felt as though the book focused more time and attention on their friends Lexi and Austin's wedding than the progression of Victoria and Eric's relationship. The slow pacing wasn't helped by the huge cast of supporting characters which really muddled the narrative. Only one stood out - a brief glimpse of Gabe Rossiter from Naked Edge.

I have to admit that I didn't read the first novel so these books can be read as stand alone. I really enjoyed the complicated emotions that Pamela Clare explores in this book. I also enjoyed the dramatic plot line that threatens to break up Hawke and Vic, it wasn't your run of the mill stalker or jealous ex. There were some issues I had with repetitive words and just plain cringe worthy sentences....for example "come sit on my face" but don't let that scare you off because this book is worth reading!

Sexy, hotter than you can imagine, and perfectly written, Slow Burn will take you on the kind of romantic journey you earn for and leave you completely content. I loved how easily I fell in love with the characters and plot in this book. Pamela Clare may be a brand new author to me, but she easily can be considered a new favorite of mine. This series is definitely one to look out for and I am already looking forward to the next one.

Based on the smoking hot book cover and title, you’ve likely already guessed Slow Burn by Pamela Clare features a handsome, sexy firefighter and a smoldering romantic tale. As book 2 of this series, you also won’t be surprised this stand-alone features a main couple (Victoria and Eric) who were first introduced in book 1 then went their separate ways. Not having read the previous book, I jumped right in without too much loss of character development, as the author did a decent job of bringing me up to speed on pertinent details regarding past events without redundancy.
Ms. Clare’s writing at first was very appealing/engaging, and the story line definitely flowed, until about the halfway point. Then the uncharacteristic cheesy, crude sexual banter/commentary and too lengthy, numerous smexy moments, kicked in and, overall, the rest of the plot/writing began to lose its appeal. Usually I can’t wait for the hero and heroine to bond as a couple. Instead, that’s when the book took a decidedly turn for the worst and slowly but surely went up in flames. Seriously, folks, it felt like two separate authors wrote each half. I half expected Eric to stop wearing his firefighter uniform and start appearing in all out biker leather gear, complete with a MC patch and tattoos.
Need an example? In the first part, they both came across as professional, classy, slightly on the straight laced side individuals. Then out of the blue in the second portion, Eric would use the term f*#king in his hand like it was as normal as asking for someone to please pass him the salt. At one point doing so while discussing with Victoria his previous attraction to Lexie, her best friend. Victoria also started using the f word nearly the same, especially while referring to their smexy time together (even in texts). Folks, it just didn’t fit their previous established character profile.
I also need to point out I wish Victoria’s very humiliating former boyfriend drama had been something else. Embarrassing, creepy, even potentially dangerous doesn’t begin to describe it, folks. Here’s to hoping that dirty, rotten scoundrel rots in the fiery pit of Hades for all eternity.
As I was intrigued by Jesse Moretti, I’m really hoping his HEA in Book 3, Falling Hard, will not stumble down the same literary road as this one. This reviewer needs consistency in character portrayal and overall delivery of the entire romantic tale. It’s what separates a great read from a should have been better one.

Title: Slow Burn, Series: Colorado High Country (Book 2), Author: Pamela Clare, Pages: 287, stand-alone but part of a series, good guy firefighter hero, loyal/beautiful heroine, humiliating past boyfriend drama, no love triangle, no OW/OM drama, no cheating, first half was better than the second part, numerous/lengthy VERY steamy scenes with lusty language.
Book 1 - Barely Breathing (Lexi & Austin), Pages: 272, 5/7/16
Book 2 - Slow Burn (Victoria & Eric), Pages: 287, 9/19/16
Book 3 - Falling Hard (Ellie & Jesse), Pages: 316, 2/18/17

This was a great contemporary romance with an extremely HOT cover . I enjoyed reading every word of it. Nothing got on my nerves (everything gets on my nerves these days!) and it had a great balance between light , fun and angst.
The story jumps one year ahead after the prologue which was a surprise but it worked very well for the plot and the romance.
I can't guess whose book is next but I'll definitely read it!

I received an ARC for honest opinion for netgalley. I enjoyed book I have to say I got scared there for a minute when after the prologue it started with a year later, I normally hate that, but it was understandable given the story. Loved Eric he was so sweet and understanding to Victoria, poor thing and what she went thru.. And it is always comforting to read about a group of friend who stick by each other and a town who knows and accepts you.. And loved ending with her father, was perfect for me.

This is actually my first Pamela Clare book but it will not be my last.
Victoria travels to Scarlet Springs, Colorado, to attend the wedding of her best friend Lexi and once again meets Eric Hawke. He is the best man, the fire chief of the town and just as hot as she remembers from a year ago.
A very enjoyable story, heartwarming and with lots of local color.

Eric makes the best promises, "his ***k pitched a tent in his sleeping bag, which, of course, Victoria noticed. “Don’t worry. I don’t have a condom with me. Besides, if you and I ever have sex, it will be someplace nice and private where you can scream.” I loved this book, Eric was such a great guy.

This is one of the best contemporary romance novels I've read in a long, long time. Hawke and Vic are awesome and the chemistry just fell from the pages. Hawke has a sensitive side but the testosterone oozes from his pores. Vic is both tough and a sweetheart at the same time. Get it now, you won't be disappointed!

This is the second book of the Colorado High Series, characters are well developed, the scenery descriptions are spot on; characters from the first book make appearances which I loved! Hot romance, funny, just a pleasant read all around. I'm not a fan of straight contemporary but Pamela Clare writes so so well!

So disappointed in this book and stopped reading at the night of the rehearsal for the wedding. I even tried skipping some pages and still I could not finish the book. For me this book had no substance starting with Victoria I didn't like her because the author really didn't give her much depth. I felt the story taking place the week before the wedding with different activities each day was just a lot of fluff and not very exciting to read about. The only thing there was plenty of was graphic sex scenes which really gets old. Not the book for me.
