This one wasn't for me. The characters acted like 10 year olds. He is in his 30's and acts so much younger. Their bickering back and forth was very juvenile to me. Not that funny. Everyone else seemed to like it so it is just me. I didn't finish it. I got a little put off by their behavior. Since everyone else seemed to think it was short and sweet it wouldn't take too much of your time to read it and decide for yourself.

I just didn't relate to the characters at all. I think this might have made a good teen book. At least the part I read would. I have no idea if it gets sexy later on. But, it just wasn't for me. I think another thing that was off putting for me was that she doesn't have a job, she can't pay her rent, her money is running out and she throws a dollar into a fountain to make a wish, she is auditioning for a part to be an actress and instead of preparing she is running around like crazy trying to decide what to wear and she is already late. Irresponsible, etc. Just wore me down.

This is a really great feel good romance which actually made me laugh out loud a couple of times, it had a kind of 'Gilmore Girls' feel to it especially when Mack and Marion are discussing the first time met it's very reminiscence of Luke and Lorelai's date, anyway I'm getting sidetracked I loved Mack he's just perfect and he's had a serious crush on his tenant Marion for two years, Marion is also great in a flighty kind of kooky way, she wants to be an actress because while she was shopping in The Gap some guy told her she had what it takes to become a star! I know it's part of her charm. I loved both these but the absolute star of the book for me was Rachel, she made me laugh out out and since her book is next it's a must for me.
It says in the blurb no cliffhanger which is one of the reasons why I read this and technically it's right there is no cliffhanger, it does end kind of abruptly and obviously since Rachel's book is next and the rest will, I assume revolve around the towns inhabitants then it's not the last we'll hear of Mack and Marion.
Oh I nearly forgot in the centre of town is an old wishing fountain, it's ugly, bone dry and just has a few coins and dirt inside but it's famous, it's even been on the news and it would appear it gives you what you need not necessarily what you wish for, but we'll see, I hope so it's more fun and less corny that way.

Another funny, light, sensual read from Ms. Elise Sax! It was short, but didn't feel it. I instantly wanted more of Mack and Marion. He has been fighting an attraction for quite some time and suddenly their situation changes. Their situation no longer allows them to fight the attraction they may have once denied.

The kicker, they've been on again off again friends for several years. Can their friendship survive the confusing situation? You'll have to read this story to find out, but once you do I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's short, sweet, funny and will leave ready for book 2!!

Both of these were very quick reads but packed with plenty of laughter, as well as, some pretty steamy moments. The most relevant thing that comes to mind thinking back on these stories is the very realistic and relatable female characters. Marion is trying (unsuccessfully) to become an actress while Raine is struggling with her self-esteem and weight loss. There are very real moments in their struggles, as well as, laugh out loud moments that we have all experienced.

I also noticed that despite the short length of these novellas, Elise Sax developed these characters wonderfully, making it feel as if we had been reading about them much longer than you actually do. I could easily see and hear these characters throughout their stories and felt connected with all of them.

If you are looking for a quick, happy read, then check out these first two novellas in the Five Wishes series. Elise Sax packed a lot of character and exciting plots into a wonderfully small package!

Marion MacAlister has been renting an apartment from Mack Ryan in the building in which Mack runs his diner for the past two years. The two have had a crush on each other for the entire time but usually bicker back and forth. When the building’s old elevator gives out the sparks fly for Mack and Marion.

I had to give this novella four stars just based on how much I was giggling and laughing all the way through with lines like “You’re like Tom and Jerry, but horny” It’s a cute tale of a couple that fight their attraction by quarreling over every little thing when together. Marion’s maturity level was a bit low with some of her antics but that really just made the story even funnier.

Overall, fun, quick read.

This was a great quick listen. Angie did a wonderful job narrating and helped make the story even funnier. Elise did an awesome job writing this story and kept me laughing. Marion and Mack together were cute and funny and all around highly entertaining. I loved listening to this story and having a smile on my face just about the entire time with Marion's scattered brain (or ditsy blondness I'm not sure which to call it). Like I said this was great especially if you want to laugh.

I absolutely loved this book! It had me laughing and turning the pages as fast as I could. The only thing I was sad about was that it ended so abruptly. I wish there had been an epilogue or something telling us about their life after falling in love. Other than that, it was amazing!

This collection literally made me laugh out loud! It's an actual comedy of errors that had me snorting and giggling most of my way through. No angst or tears in this bunch - unless they're tears of laughter!

These short stories are not the most thought provoking. But, I enjoyed the comedy and the romance. The last one was my least favorite because the main character (Fiona) is presented as a bit of an air head. I would recommend these stories.

Talk about a RomCom! This book is great. I laughed so many times reading this book which is a first. The romance is great, it's hilarious, it's believable and it's all around a great read. I love it, I only wish the next book in the series continued even though based off the ending we already know what's going to happen next, but a continuance would be great. I love, love, LOVE this book.

This was another great novella from Elise Sax! Marion is behind on her rent again, and uses her lucky silver dollar to make a wish in the famous wishing fountain. She's on her way home to change for an audition and she really needs to land this job. Mack, who happens to be her landlord, local diner owner, and crush all in one gorgeous package, joins her in the building's elevator just in time for it to get stuck between levels.

Having listened to three of these books now, I can say that the author's work improves with each one, and each book just gets funnier. Marion is kind of an exasperating hot mess, but still adorable. It's easy light reading that will bring a smile to your face.

Angie Hickman did a great job as usual, she has the perfect voice for these lighthearted romances. Her reading isn't too dramatic, and just sucks you right into the book. Great author/narrator combo!

An adorable story about an aspiring actress and a handsome restaurateur explore their friendship while trapped in a malfunctioning elevator. Hot, funny and the perfect short read.
I laughed out loud and I loved it.
