This is generally a well written account involving the Zoo Crew. The one aspect missing is that almost no involvement of all members of the Crew in resolving the solving of the case of the dead peasants or in the rescue of the two main characters, Drake and Ava. They were mere extras only.

The term, Dead Peasants, has been coined to describe the lowest, dirtiest, form of life insurance scam, an ugliness name for an ugly depravity practice. Large corporations assign value to workers, buy insurance policies, pay premiums, then cash in if anything happens to the employee, or ex-employee. The Corporation continues to pay the premiums even if the employee leaves. Cerberus Corporation is a blanket web that covers several companies including Bargain Mart. Bargain Mart has gained wide-spread status recognition through-out the United States, catering to lower income families.

Alice Galt discovered that her recently deceased husband, Craig's, life had been covered, unbeknownst to them, for $250,000., payable to Bargain Mart.

Raquel and Hector are highly paid assassins. They are calm, cool, collected and very efficient. They had been contacted for multiple jobs in Missoula, Montana. They had already completed two of the jobs, and had received immediate pay-offs. Everything was going according to schedule.

Alice took her suspicious info to the no-fee assistance investigative Zoo Crew team. Suspicious actions only. Something didn't smell right, left a stench in the air, and nothing clicked a perfect cadence. Drake, Ajax, Ava, Kade and Sage sniffed the crisp cold air and realized that Bargain Mart had dirty hands that carried the repugnance of Hades. The Zoo Crew did soul crushing work. The Innocence Project was behind them. Now, the Dead Peasants cut scores into their outraged psyches. They were young, dedicated and furious. To sniff clear air, they had to hike six tense filled miles up the backside of Mount Sentinel.

Cerberus Corporation headed by Montgomery, housed in London, had underestimated their hired killers' greed. Sometimes respect is more important than money. This was a rapid paced, enjoyable read. The action is clean and straight-forward. The characters are believable and are becoming more rounded with each book of this series. Dustin Stevens uses a clipped, straight-forward, non-messy approach. I enjoyed the book, the theory behind the story and will certainly retain this information. Thank you.

I really enjoyed this book! In the beginning, there are three storylines going on and two of them come together early on and then they do all eventually merge together. In the Prologue, we learn about Bargain Mart and its background and then in a later chapter, we meet Thomas Jenks, the manager of the local Bargain Mart. Next, we meet Alica Galt and her husband Craig, who is on the verge of death. We're then introduced to The Zoo Crew: Drake, Kade, Ajax and Sage.

When Craig dies, Alice gets a phone call from an insurance company she's never heard of asking where they need to send the $250,000 policy on her husband and she knows nothing about this. She meets Drake, a law student and part of The Zoo Crew, and asks him to help her figure out what is going on. When he and his partner, Ava, find out who the money was actually sent to, they know they're onto something big and won't stop until they figure out what is going on.

This book held my attention from the beginning and didn't let up. I enjoy mystery and suspense and was on the edge of my seat multiple times. I needed to keep reading to find out what was going on and if The Zoo Crew was able to figure it out in time. There are some intense situations and some of them turn out well and others don't. There's some content in this book: talk of sex (no details), violence, swearing and "guy talk" but I didn't feel like it was too much or constant. I enjoyed the storyline and wasn't familiar with the term Dead Peasants and what it means (it's pretty despicable, actually) and liked the fast pace. The characters bond quite well and I enjoyed getting to know them and seeing how their relationships develop. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.

Dustin pens "Dead Peasants" in a fast paced, original plot that flowing nicely. I found his characters to be well developed and believable in this legal thriller. I was a bit lost at first since I haven't read the original story 'The Zoo Crew' but caught on pretty quickly as I read along. A must read for everyone.

This review is based on a complimentary copy from the author which was provided for an honest review.

Breezy, believable, engaging and entertaining, you can't go wrong with Dustin Stevens. In or out of order, his storytelling abilities are something one can count on in a world that is recognizably venal, but not over the top weird or horrific. I like how he thinks; I like how he writes.

I liked this story. The ZOO CREW characters were true to form although some of them were not fully brought out and developed as to their personality. As members of the group, they were just "there" like window dressing and seemingly used as word fillers in situations when they got together; like for a hike on the mountain.

Another thrilling adventure with the Zoo Crew. The Crew take on a big corporation that is abusing its employees. A great story with plenty of suspense and thrills. I was drawn into the book from the very beginning and wanted to read it to the ending. Love the series and can't wait for more! Enjoy!

Like the zoo crew adventures along with their continuous development. The story kept me alert and anxious to read to the end. Could use better editing on wording in places but please keep them coming.

Enjoy these in between more intensive mysteries. This one seemed to be rushed, could have used more editing. Manager drove a old Volvo, later it was a old Honda, along with a couple of others that did not effect the story.

I really liked this one. Wow - looked up Dead Peasants and shared around what it is and people were appalled. So in addition to good story, i learned something (besides it is very cold in Montana). Thanks Dustin Stevens.

I worked in insurance for some time and never heard the phrase, "Dead Peasants." It is the most despicable practice ever!! Having said that I was empathizing as I read and then enraged all in the span of a few chapters. What a read!

This story will appeal to those who enjoy legal dramas, the beautiful Montana setting, and the energy of plucky young adults, also known as "The Zoo Crew, an idea galvanized half from necessity, half from boredom, seven years before...three outliers on the University of Montana campus..."

Dustin Stevens' second book in The Zoo Crew series is an admirable contribution to the genre. It was evident that he put comprehensive thought into creating an intricate plot and well developed characters. News on the street is that he is currently writing the third Zoo Crew adventure...stay tuned!
