THE TWELVE GIFTS OF BIRTH is a beautiful story for adults and children. My recent experience with buying books from different sellers on the store has been a little disconcerting. I bought several books sold as new recently from different buyers. Four books were inscribed by previous owners. When I buy a new book it should not have been a previous gift. I was reimbursed for the books. The current book I bought was also previously inscribed. I am complaining because none of the sellers said the books were preowned and inscribed. I want to use these as gifts but won't now. The books should be described as previously owed and inscribed so I don't waste my time and money buying this kind of product.

So disappointed. I purchased six of the same book for gifts and did not check several pages into the book until just now when I went to write in one to give as a gift. Every single block had been written and signed to someone already as a gift and I can't rip out the page because it's an important part of the story. Not happy

I bought the book used and was disappointed in its condition ... dirty with smear marks on the cover and in various places in the book. The book has a dedication page that was filled in and not erasable ...
I kept the book but have learned a lesson ... the info re: its condition could have been more accurate.

I read this and did a little reflection book with my kindergartners last year. Taking one gift at a time to discuss and reflect. When I started I was nervous they wouldn't fully grasp some of the gifts and the true meaning. I mean they are 5 yrs old... But by the end of the year you would hear "look _____ is using their gift of ______"!!!! Or "you need to use your gift of ____ to help you"

Melted my heart!
I love this book!!!

This book provides inspiration for wee ones and their parents/care-givers, as well. Charlene takes the reader on a remarkably affirming path that equips them with strength for the journey of life. This book is a treasure to any reader - whether that be child or adult, parent or expecting parent, grandparent, or anyone who touches or is touched by a child.

I was so happy to receive this touching book last week. As this book begin's "Royal dignity was yours from the day you were born- Psalms 110:3" we are reminded how each of us has our own special gifts in life.
The book includes a special page for gift-givers to inscribe some personal thoughts to the receiver. I always told my 23 year old daughter she was a princess and now I have a book that shows her just how special she has always been.
I highly recommend "The Twelve Gifts of Birth," as a wonderful gift to give to a pregnant woman, a newborn baby, or a child of any age to remind them of the special gifts that were their's from the day they were born. It would be an especially thoughtful gift for a young person who is struggling with adolescence to help remind them of the beauty and talents that they were born with.
Not only the words are beautiful, but the quality of the materials used to produce this book will make this a gift that will be treasured for a lifetime.

This is such a special book that every parent should have, and read to their children often. It is beautifully illustrated as well! Once you read this book, you too will fall in love with the book, you too will pass it on at every chance you have!

The 12 gifts every baby should know they where given at birth are: Strenght, Beauty, Courage, Compassion, Hope, Joy, Talent, Imagination, Reverence, Wisdom, Love, and Faith so you may believe you have these gifts!

Whether you come home with your child from the hospital, international flight, or domestic travel this is a book that should be read often and in every childs' home and or room!

Charlene Costanzo has penned a beautiful message in 500 short words: we are all worthy, special and given inherent gifts. I'm old enough for grandkids, but I sometimes pull this book out on a bad day just to remind myself we are all inherently valuable people. This book has become my standard baby shower gift, just as Costanzo's other Twelve Gifts books are regulars on my bookshelf and gift-giving list. The Twelve Gifts of Birth is one of those special books that will stand the test of time.

The universe gifted me this book when I was expecting our first child. It was free on the side of the road. It is a beautiful book with a message that all children (and adults for that matter) need to receive. It's well-written and would make a lovely gift.

My son James graduated this June. Although I had given this book many times as a baby present, I decided to try something different. I used it as an inspirational graduation gift for James!

I looked back through 18 years worth of pictures and matched pictures of James with the twelve gifts. His sister, brother, and father helped as we searched for just the right photos.
For example, on the cover page where it says, "Royal dignity was yours from the day you were born" Psalms 110:3, I glued a baby picture and a graduation picture.

On "The first gift is Strength" I glued him in awesome shots from his three sports...basketball, football, and javelin.
On "The fifth gift is Hope" I glued a shot of him from the bottom of the stairs as he attempted to crawl up those stairs clad only in a diaper~~along with another shot of him in a triumphant basketball moment.
For "the ninth gift is Reverence" I chose a photo of him feeding ducks by a tree-lined lake and another of a tiny James standing on some rocks by the ocean's edge.

One of my favorites is the "Faith" page where I put a picture of him kneeling with me and holding Kermit the Frog as he says his prayers.
I cut the pictures using templates for scrapbooking, so the shots of James are in ovals, stars, curved edges, etc. The finished product was awesome!
When his father and I gave him this book, all of our family sat around as I read it to James. He is a 6'5" wonderful fellow who got teary-eyed as I read it. As he looked at the pictures accompanying each gift, we talked about family and life!
Charlene Costanza is to be praised for writing this inspirational book. It is a treasure! The words, the message of dignity and worth, the pictures, and the artwork are outstanding. Everyone who sees it wants to order one. One friend is personalizing "The Twelve Gifts of Birth" for her mother!
I came across a real life-time treasure when I found this book.

For almost ten years, The Twelve Gifts of Birth is the book of choice that I have given at the birth of many babies, for my children and grandchildren's birthdays, for graduation, and for baptism and confirmation, as well as, appreciation for a friendship. In all of it's simplicity I still find it's message to be inspiring and the artwork de-
lightful. Anytime I want to validate a person's worth and encourage them in their life's journey, I find this book to be very apropos.

I also used it as part of a class on Julia Cameron's book, The Artist's Way. Each week we focused on a different gift, along with the message of the chapter.

I am so happy that it is still being printed after 10yrs on the market. It's message is timeless and ageless.

This is a beautifully illustrated book that would make a wonderful gift at a baby shower or child's birthday. The gifts described in this book are valuable intrinsic qualities that any person should strive to have, and things that should be recognized and cherished from a young age. This book is a must have for any child's library (it also makes for a nice short bedtime read)!

I've given this book on several occasions to coworkers, friends, and relatives. It never ceases to bring OOHs and AHHs, along with smiles, tears, and a sense of wonder. It's a lovely keepsake that will enthrall a new mom or mom to be and get passed down to a lucky child many years later.

Every child is unique and holds a special place in the universe. Here is a book that revels in the beauty and power of the individual. This book is simple yet profound in its message! Illustrations are captivating. A perfect gift for new parents or anyone who needs to remember that they are special! I used it at the beginning of the year to build classroom community for my 5th graders and they were enchanted.

Charlene Costanzo is AMAZING for putting what every mother feels, into words. Thank you for writing such an incredibly smart, well-written book... ....and now find myself ordering 13 copies for our niece, nephews, Godchildren, AND our other two children....I want each of our three children to have his/her own copy. What simple lessons we can learn from this and what life-long lessons for our children to know....you are a wise woman....I'm thrilled to find your treasure....thank you so much. -Donna Campbell

My cousin received this book today at a baby shower and was so impressed she read it out loud the guests. As I sat and listened, the simple reminders of what our lives began with and posessed still today touched me, and I realized what a powerful tool this book can be. Use it anytime and on young and old. The message is one of universal significance.

I purchased this book for several friends when they had babies. Everyone has thought it was a touching and thoughtful book. It is such a good book I finally decided to buy one for myself, as a Mother's Day present. I dedicated it to my young daughter. A wonderful gift!

The message in this book inspired the parents in a parenting class to be more aware of the wonder of the gifts we have all been given; the need to recognize, use and share these gifts. This book is a perfect gift for new parents.

The Twelve Gifts of Birth book is an amazing story. It's similar to the story about Sleeping Beauty, yet in my opinion so much more beautiful. I found this book several years ago and since then I give this as a baby shower gift. I love this story!!! It's a book that every child should have read to them. I highly recommend it.

This book encourages a person to look at the gifts they received with their birth and decide how they will use them in life. I believe it also encourages parents to recognize the birth gifts their child/children received which they should encourage their child/children to develop.

I purchased this book for my beautiful new grand-daughter. Even though she won't be reading it for a while, I felt it really conveyed the message of self-importance and worth. It makes a wonderful gift for a new baby, but it is also a reminder to us all that we were born with inherent gifts and abilities.

My brother gave my daughter this book for her baptism, it is so inspiring for both children and adults. I had the "Twelve Gifts" handpainted around my daughters room as a constant reminder of what is important in life. My hope is that she will grow to understand the meaning behind each word.
