Told in third person from dual perspectives, The Bachelor Contract is a sexy & surprisingly emotional contemporary romance. This second chance romance is a steady read, perfect for the hopeless romantic in all of us. Full of heartfelt strong friendships & family bonds, witty & sarcastic banter. These characters struggle to overcome gut-wrenching loss, “After, we were nothing, we were too broken, too damaged.” sadness, grief, guilt, broken hearts & “…anger. At her. At himself. At the world.” , to gain real closure & earn back trust. They must choose to “Be brave.” & fight for peace & love, to “…go after what you want.” A sexy & often funny, yet emotionally intense story of “…both closure and new beginnings.

The Bachelor Contract by Rachel Van Dyken is the third book in The Bachelors of Arizona Series. Every book is about another couple and can easily be read as a standalone. The other books are The Bachelor Auction, Jane and Brock's story; and The Playboy Bachelor, Margot and Bentley's story.
The Bachelor Contract is Nikki and Brant's book.
Nikki and Brant were married. But they suffered a terrible loss and a big tragedy. They are separated and everyone lives his own life. Nikki is better acclimated than Brant. She has a good job, great friends and is content. He drinks his days and his sorrow away. He's eaten by guilt and full of self-pity. 'til these two are put in each others paths again.
Let me tell you, The Bachelor Contract did a number on me. The book is raw and gritty and sometimes painful. This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Rachel Van Dyken has accomplished just that. I love the story, the characters and the words.
I recommend The Bachelor Contract and give 5 stars. Thank you, Rachel Van Dyken !

A HUMAN’S CAPACITY FOR PAIN WAS LIMITLESS.
Brant and Nikki once had everything they could ever need with each other. After several tragic events, Brant walks away and Nikki lets him. Four years later, the two are unknowingly thrown back into each other’s lives. Several encounters later, and the two have found their chance at a HEA. But will either one be able to forgive themselves in order to give their “storybook” romance a second chance.
This is the best kind of second chance romance from such an amazing author. Rachel van Dyken knocks it out of the park with all of the feels that are present in this book. With the involvement of Grandma Nadine, you never know what to expect. Brant and Nikki have so many obstacles to overcome, yet you find yourself getting lost in their journey.
There are some unanswered questions regarding their past, but the story still reads well. The author also gives us several new characters - Annie, Carol, Cole and George - who I’m anticipating reading more about in future books.
All in all, this was a great read. I just felt like I was missing a vital part of Brant and Nikki’s past.

Brant, Brant, Brant, Brant! This is the 3rd book in the Bachelor's or Arizona, I think it is better enjoyed in order, but could be read as a standalone. From the 1st book, I wanted to know Brant's story, I wanted to see his happy ending. This book is messy, full of things this power couple needs to work through. It deals with some major issues. I cried, I laughed, and Nadine! I love her in absolutely all books she's in. I would read anything Rachel Van Dyken writes, hands down. Amazing book!

4.5 Stars for this finale in Rachel’s Bachelors of Arizona series. I’ve so enjoyed each of these stories, but this one? I think Rachel saved it for last because she knew Brant needed his brothers, and he needed them to have found their happies in order to help him achieve his own. This second chance romance between Brant and Nikki was full of so many emotions. Laughter, anger, sadness and yeah the angst factor was high. Brant and Nikki really did a number on themselves because four years ago they experienced so much negative. So much so that they both stopped fighting, tried to numb the pain and move on; but that didn’t really work. Throw in the meddling of Grandma Nadine, the Wellington’s and Nikki’s work family; yeah it’s bound to be fun. I mentioned there being lots of angst, and a big part of that was the fear that both Brant and Nikki has. They want to be together, their love is still present but the fear keeps them from speaking their truths and the doubts. When they finally let go, it’s both beautiful and heart wrenching; but the happily ever after is all worth it!

This second chance romance was filled with laughter, tears and all kinds of feels. Seriously, my little heart was breaking all through this book.
Rachel brought us a fabulous group of characters that you can’t help but fall for. I wasn’t sure how I was going through feel about Brant but then she let us glimpse inside his heart and then I was hooked. Nikki was my favorite though. Her story gutted me. I can’t even explain how much. I wanted to reach in and hug her.
I was super happy to see all the past characters and a few new ones, along with a few surprises. I am totally looking forward to the next book!

Toxic love would be a better title for this one, my fellow romance book loving friends. Actually, scrap that, because the hero’s behavior most of the time wouldn’t fall under the love category. He was certainly toxic to her, as he was like a poisoned apple she couldn’t say no to.
This couple has a sad past in this second chance tale. They might be mourning the loss of what they had, but I’m drowning in sorrow about what could have been myself. This should have been an epic read, folks.
Instead, what I got was a drunken all the time, parties every night manho, sometimes with drug using prostitutes, who was not celibate during the four years after the couple’s sad breakup. All while, of course, she stayed celibate the entire time. It is a personal beef with me when the leading lady is still so wrapped up in love she couldn’t possibly be with another man, while the manho hero uses his broken heart as an excuse to screw anything that moves. Like it is somehow his right and the only way for him to find healing and closure.
The spa scene felt wrong because they didn’t know who each other were in the dark, though they kept inadvertently thinking about the other. The fact he was the owner and she an employee, well, don’t even get me started on that. It felt like she was just going to be another one of his mindless sexcapades he’s had over the last four years. She lost a big chunk of my respect and dignity in the process of that scene. Though she was likeable, I didn’t like her being on a date with Cole, a close friend who wanted to be her boyfriend, then see her leave with Brant to have a good-bye ONS. I was so repulsed by the idea I thought I was going to puke. Brant mentally kept thinking it was the goodbye screw he deserved for what she put him through in the past. H-E-L-L-O! Who’s the one that ended up blind??? Who’s the one who has suffered the most these last four years? Blind, poor as dirt, broken hearted, and still carrying a torch for him. Yeah, she got the raw end of that deal. Yet, he always acted like he was the only wounded party. He was so hurtful when he found out who she was. It was unbelievable, folks.
I absolutely loved Cole, despite his implied manho reputation. It was hilarious how he at first tried to protect her from Brant. He was absolutely awesome! The pool scene was epic! It’s pretty sad when you find yourself wishing the heroine would sleep with her best friend instead of the leading man. In fact, I was thrilled when Cole gave her a quick kiss to dream about. I wanted Brant to suffer..suffer...then suffer some more.
Oh, there’s more. She starts taking on the blame for Brant’s past behavior. Then he offers her money after sleeping with her. Then he plays the let’s be friends card, all while pushing her out his bedroom door.
OK. That’s enough. My rant is over. You get the point. Sure, he “finally” at the end sees the light. But it’ll be up to you if you want the journey to get there. This author’s writing style is wonderfully engaging. I just wish she choose better character portrayal. Would it have been too much to ask for to have the hero also celibate? If four years wasn’t too long for the heroine, why not the hero, as well? How about her coming across strong and making him really work to get back in her good graces, instead of falling into bed with him? Yeah, all sorts of better scenarios come to mind, but it is what it is.
Title: The Bachelor Contract, Series: The Bachelors of Arizona (Book 3), Author: Rachel Van Dyken, Pages: 336, stand-alone but part of a series, at first hurtful, hateful hero, blind doormat heroine, he’s a toxic mess, she stayed celibate during 4 years, he partied/had countless ONS with random women, not romance safe IMHO, left her yet blames her for the breakup, feels rejected heroine.

Im kind of speechless at the whole drama, emotional moments and funny parts in this story. This is the third book in the series and Brant and Nikki's story.
Brant and Nikki married young and through certain circumstances drifted apart. We learn why, we come to know how each of them felt and truths come out. This is a story with so many feels and then you add Grandma Nadine into the mix and well, as they say the rest is history..lol. Her zest and funny ideas as well as pushing people to do things really make the story. I really enjoyed reading it. You will no doubt as well.

Compellingly addictive with a passion that had me glued to my seat from start to finish. A story about heartbreak, pain and anger conquered by hope and infinite love. Oh the feels!!
I have loved the Bachelors of Arizona as individual standalone stories and a series. The dynamic between each couple and as a family has been unique and intriguing with secrets and pain and so much love necessary to heal beaten, battered hearts. For the past four years, Brandt’s life has been defined by pain, guilt and a necessity to numb all the ugly emotions that threatened to knock him down. I met him in book one but hadn’t a clue as to how deeply his feelings thundered within. But he let them loose, lashed out and I felt it.
The story begins in the present and has small glimpses from the past from which the reader can understand the incredible love he had for his wife and the events that led to the demise of their marriage and his complete misery. I won’t spoil you so let’s continue... From having everything, Brandt was left with nothing as his life was ruined by one too many tragedies. Choosing to anesthetize his feelings he had spent the last four years drowning in alcohol and faceless hookups.
But when Brandt refuses fulfill his bachelor contract and go out with his ex-wife who bought him for a date in a charity event, his meddling family presents him with a challenge he can’t refuse, unknowing that he’d be working side by side with the love of his life.
Nikki had no one after her split from Brandt, forced to get a job as a masseuse she made the resort’s employees her family and the sexy concierge became her best friend who tried to run interference when Brandt arrived, but there was only so much Cole could do before the these two broken halves of a single whole would come face to face and tackle the past and their mistakes.
As their walls slowly lower, we see how much they both suffered, how guilty and helpless Brandt felt and how his love for her has never diminished. My heart broke for both of them, for what they lost, for their time apart, but at the same time it delighted when they both realize that love can heal the rawest wounds and theirs is worth fighting for.
As lovely and heartfelt as this story was, I also need to mention that this wasn’t all heavy feelings. There were moments of fun and levity, mixed with flirty sexiness that balanced everything out. But yes, expect to lose your heart to Brandt and Nikki and their emotionally naked tale of second chances.
The Bachelor Contract is book #3 in the Bachelors in Arizona series by Rachel Van Dyken. It is a full length contemporary romance. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Brant Wellington is heading, on the order of Grandma Nadine, to work at one of her hotels. But what he finds when he arrives is more than he expected: his ex-wife. Though he hasn’t seen her in years, he still feels grief, guilt, and anger about the events that led to their divorce and working with her brings everything back to the surface.
Nikki’s life changed drastically during and after her marriage to Brent collapsed. Her independence as a massage therapist is huge for her, and the routine she has developed is a life line. But Brant’s arrival at her hotel shifts her equilibrium and she finds that she isn’t as far beyond her past as she thought.
These two probably would have continued to avoid even the mention of the other if not for the meddling of Grandma Nadine and Brant’s grandfather. They have so much heavy baggage between them that at times it seems too much to sort through in order for them to have a second chance.
As this series has established, there is plenty of humor throughout. But there were times that the humor felt like too much for the heavy topics Brant and Nikki needed to deal with. There were times it felt like the humor made too much light of the situation, and the humor and pain didn’t go hand in hand.
I enjoyed the bones of the story, but it was really the juxtaposition of the humor and pain that made it difficult to love. This is one of those books where I can identify that it didn’t work for me, but that added lightness may be exactly what other readers need.
As usual, this is filled with meddling side characters. I liked the addition of Nikki’s friend, Cole, and the competition he makes Brant feel added spark to the early stages of the book. I love Grandma Nadine’s influence in the story, and as she always does, chaos falls in her wake.
This was a mixed bag of emotions and feelings. It has everything from slapstick to subtle humor and fun, to deep hurt and guilt for past events. Reading it kept me on my toes and kept my own emotions rolling.

She did it again! The Bachelors of Arizona Series is becoming one of my favourite! These men can't get any better, hotter or perfect in any way.
Brant was a yerk, he knew it, his family knew it and so did we, since we had a chance to get to know him in the last books. But he had a secret, he had been hurt so bad we can't even imagine how someone could survive something like that.
But so was Nikki, she lost just as much; and Brant wasn't strong enough for her when she needed him the most, he run and never looked back.
Like in any good story, they both had different memories of what happened and with good reason, they didn't have all the facts. So they let hate and hurt keep them apart for this 4 long years.
But now they were together again and there was no escaping the fact that they still had feelings for each other. Nothing was lost between them it was just separated by these thick walls they had built around their hearts as a way to survive the lost they both suffered.
They had the NOW and they were for sure gonna make it count, even if it destroyed them both.
I LOVED this story, not only because its about real people but because its not just hearts and rainbows. These characters have been through hell and still have hope and love for each other, and that's what true love is all about. Surviving the unimaginable and coming out stronger than before together.

This is the third book in the series Bachelors of Arizona. These are stand alone issues and do not have to be read in order. I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway and in return I promised an honest review.
Brant Wellington is divorced from his true love and he's turned to the bottle and women to ease his guilty conscience. He could have continued on this way forever if his family did not involve him in a bachelor auction that forces him back into the business and off to one of the Wellington resorts to do an assessment. Once there his past blows up in his face by his ex-wife, the one and only true love of his life...Nikki.
Nikki was shattered with the death of her son and just a day later, she was caught in a fire that blinded her and then Brant walks out of her life. Nik fought hard for the life she has now and once she smells Brant and comes face to face with him she knows she's in for the fight of her life to keep him from breaking her all over again.
Brant sets out to seduce her and win her trust back by replaying their past dates. He knows he needs to let go of the past and finally have that "talk" that is crucial to the healing of their hearts. Can he persuade her that love is better the second time around and that he can be the man that she needs now?

This is an emotional second chance romance novel. If you are a fan of the Hit Television Show, This is Us, then you will most likely love this book. For me, I read to escape and do not watch This is Us for that emotional reason. With that said, I still enjoyed the book and my heart broke for Brant and Nikki. I just prefer my stories and main characters not to be so debilitating...
This second chance romance leaves you breathless searching for what originally ended Brant and Nikki's picture perfect happily ever after leading them to their sad present day. If you have enjoyed this three part book series of the Wellington boys then you will really enjoy Brant's story. I am a major fan of Rachel Van Dyken's books, especially her Eagle Elite Series, and will continue to read whatever she publishes!

Brant and Nikki were broken souls from hurt and a shattered past. What they both didn’t understand was they were better together and angry for not trying to heal one another, fight for what they fought for from day one. This is one sweet love story about guilt, passion, longing, and hurt. Rachel showcased love in a way many people associate heartbreak with.... anger and loneliness. Brant had it in spades but with a little push and some drinks to remember he found his way home. Nikki.... his home and family.

Once again what a read and book form Rachel Van Dyken.
I laughed, I cried and then some. The witty writing that is you always gets me so absorbed in the story I don’t want it to end but want to see the outcome, I can’t win. The story just grabs you from start to finish. Thanks again for an amazing read.

Sexy, sweet, at times angsty and others oh so much fun. I loved this third installment of the Bachelors of Arizona series. I am such a sucker for second chance stories and this one quickly became a favorite of mine.
I love the characters, the storyline and all the emotions that you experience when reading this. I am loving this series and I would never tired of reading these characters. I cannot wait to read more from Rachel and I definitely hope to read more from this series.

The Bachelor Contract (The Bachelors of Arizona, #3) by Rachel Van Dyken is a classic! Nadine Titan has her hands in everything (or is it on everyone?). I love that meddling Grandma. This is a genuine heartwarming and heartbreaking second chance romance. So much emotion involved in Brandt and Nikki's story. The author does a fine job of injecting humor in all the right places to balance the weight of the emotional conflict in this book. Of the three books, this is my favorite. Following the theme of the series, this one also deals with difficult social issues and internal struggles, so keep that in mind. If you'd like more of a light-hearted read, I can recommend The Bet by this author.

I have really enjoyed The Bachelor of Arizona series and was really excited to get Brant’s story. Second Chance love stories are my favorite and couldn’t wait to feel all the feels.
Brant and Nikki’s story had some really great moments. These are to very damaged souls that found it easier to leave each other then to fight for their love and to deal with the pain and heartbreak that occurred in their lives.
Nikki and Brant both choose to numb the pain instead of dealing with it. Brant did the typical route, Drugs, Alcohol and Meaningless sex. Nikki focused on her job and her and need for independence. This has left two very broken, bitter and angry individuals who are just playing at life instead of really living life.
When Rachel really focuses on these two and allowed them to confront their anger, bitterness and the rawness of their pain and hurt the book was stellar. However these moments were to rare for me.
This was a book expected to rip my heart out and then put it back to together but it fell short of my expectations. I know Rachel is very capable of writing such a story but felt at times she used crude humor and inappropriate situations that made me cringe and distracted from the story.
I also wish Brant’s family was used more. I would have loved to see them more involved in the healing journey of Brant and Nikki. Instead of them owning up to their role in the initial breakup and dealing with forgiveness and acceptance, they felt more like prop pieces, only there for a funny line or to look pretty.
While the story had a few problems for me, I did enjoy the book overall. It still packs an emotional punch and is a great story of two people finding there way back to each other

Holy epicness!!! This woman has a way with words! Is he the dark knight or the prince charming? He used to be can he be again? you have to find out. Can love be redeemed or should it not be revisited. In this book there is so much that everyday people expierence, thanks for bringing them to light. They may not always be good and happy, but she makes her your books more real by not always having everything perfect. She makes her characters more human.

GAH!!! This book provides a serious punch in the emotional gut!! I laughed, cried, swooned and cheered for Brant and Nikki. Rachel provided a truthful, gritty, emotional love story between two first loves who fought their way back to each other.
Forgiveness is such a beautiful gift to give and receive.

The bachelor contract is the third installment within this series. Brant and Nikki have been through so much, both together and while they have been apart. Its a bit of a heavy book and hit a little close to home for me. Overall its a great read and enjoyed reading about previous characters within this book.

I have loved this series from the beginning and could not wait to get to Brant and Nikki's story. This was such a heartfelt book and pulled at all of my emotions. This one hurt a little more than I thought it would, their second chance at love story was amazing and I loved every minute of it.

Oh this series! This third book in the The Bachelors of Arizona was amazing! This second chance love story between Brant and Nikki was so moving, the past hurts and heartbreak you rad and feel for these two was epic. The dialogue between the secondary characters was hysterical and laugh out loud funny! Especially the whole “Zen Program”. I am hoping for a spin-off for some of the characters we met in this book. Such a well written story, than you for your words!

The Bachelor Contract By Rachel Van Dyken
“Rollercoaster of emotions, 5 stars”
If you have read the other two Bachelor books by RVD you know that Brant is a hot mess. If you haven’t that’s okay, you’ll figure it out soon enough. RVD takes us through a rollercoaster of emotions. I was so into the story that I didn’t move and forgot about my wine glass that was sitting right next to me until I hit the last page.
Brant is a disaster. I never expected to like him. But then I found out why he was a mess and I could understand it. And then when Nikki came back into his life he started lashing out until he decided it was time to man up and take what was his. Then I fell a little bit in love with him while he was busy working on making Nikki love him back. I thought he was the typical spoiled rich boy, but that is so far off the mark it’s not even funny.
Nikki is resilient. If I went through half the stuff she went through I don’t think I would handle it with near the grace she did. She has had a hard four years, but she’s made it with the help from her best friend. When her ex shows back up she doesn’t know what to do. Does she go with the man she still loves but left her broken hearted? Or does she start over with the man who’s been by her side through it all?
I loved everything about this story. All the characters were spot on. At one point I was really expecting everyone to have either team Nikki or Brant signs. I loved how RVD rounded out the Wellington family and I will cross my fingers that she gives Cole Masters a story of his own.
