After reading Fraternize I didn't think this series could get any better, but boy was I wrong. In Infraction we get to delve into the forbidden romance between Kinsey and Miller, and their relationship was one I will be re-reading quite a lot.

Kinsey and Miller were amazing to read about and I loved their friendly back and forth with one another. Theirs wasn't a super angsty read which I really liked, instead we got to see the funny and witty banter between them that had me cracking a smile multiple times. It was just a really fun book to read even though there were times it had me reaching for the tissues. Those funny moments made the sad ones worth it and I really liked that there was a good balance between the two.

I also loved that we got the bonus of a little side romance between Jax and Harley. I usually wouldn't be a fan of someone else getting so many POV's but this author of course wrote it so well that Jax's POV blended perfectly with Kinsey and Miller's and it actually added a lot to the overall story.

Bottom line, if your a fan of the brother-best-friend trope like I am then this is your next book. I would even say that you could read it as a standalone if you weren't easily curious about side characters that are mentioned in books.

Kinsey is such a saucy little thing, “don’t worry, I won’t steal your cookie, Miller, not even if you force it down my throat.” I groaned. She slapped my ***. And I nearly broke the countertop with my fingers as she skipped off with a backward wave." Kinsey and Jax's dad was something else when giving Miller the third degree, “so, she’s the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen and yet . . . you’ve kept it in your pants?” When Kins is in the mood girl don't care where she's at, "...her red lacy bra was the most distracting thing I’d ever seen in my entire life. “Kins.” My voice came out like a curse. “We’re literally parked in front of your parents’ house.” I loved this book, I loved the humor, the characters were entertaining and each had their own personalities

The Bucks are back and ready to take the year by storm again, but their is more in store for them than last time. Not only will Miller and Kins have to figure out their relationship, but Jax will be faced with his match. Rachel Van Dyken will keep you on your toes and cheering not only Miller on but Jax too!

After their explosive night together Quinton MIller thinks he has messed up and deicides to help Jax send his sister away, but is it the best decision?

Kinsey is back after being away for the summer and her world is falling apart. Her brother is overprotected like always, her dad is sick, her ex is on the same team as her bother and friends and she can’t forget her night with Miller. Even though that one night was amazing she is still upset that he help send her packing for the last few months, but when her brother comes up with an idea of them “fake dating” she can’t resist him.

Miller hasn’t forgotten his night with Kins but he knows Jax will kill him if he ever finds out and if he every touches Kins again. But when Jax gives him the okay to “fake date” his sister he feels like it’s his chance to make his move.

Miller and Kins can’t keep their hands off each other and being to walk a fine line between fake and real. But when the reality of what’s going on with KIns and Jax’s father becomes apparent it takes it toll. And when other secrets come forward it changes everything?

Can Miller and Kinsey count on each other? Or is Miller still running from the past? And is Kinsey ready to let him all the way in?

Let me start by saying this. One of the main things I like about Rachel Van Dyken's books is the insight. Her insight into many of life's wonders, love, loss, risks, etc., really resonates with me long after I'm done reading. Like many of her other books I've read, Infraction continues this trend with Miller and Kinsey's story. This book is heartfelt. It's fun yet so raw and emotional. I felt for the characters like I know them personally, and we're great friends. I love when books do this to me.

"The heart is strong. The heart can convince the body of anything. It can convince your mind of anything. Your heart allows you to be whatever you want to be, you just have to trust it."

Infraction is the second in the Players Game series. The first being Fraternize, which I LOVED loved loved. Can't say it enough. It tore my world apart and put it back together before I got to the last page. Infraction is on a similar level. The two are based around different characters, but I recommend reading Fraternize before Infraction. Having read Fraternize first, I was able to really understand and appreciate Miller's character and motivations in this second book of the series.

"My heart wasn't whole.
So how was it fair of me to even attempt to give something that wasn't even functioning properly to a girl who had the biggest heart I'd ever seen?
It wasn't fair."

This book is more than Miller and Kinsey's love story, though, which again had me on edge. Jax's story is also incorporated here. At first, I didn't think I'd like that his POV is included, but actually, I ended up loving it. It all comes together for an epic ending that made me tear up, in a good way.

Infraction deals with romantic love and brotherly love. The need for Jax to protect his little sister Kinsey shows us to what lengths we go for love. We see some of their relationship in Fraternize, but we get the whole picture in this book. It gets interesting, to say the least!

"...the truly important parts of your life are the ones that you a lot of times want to ignore, they're the pain, the agony, the anxiety, the bad.
But they have a purpose.
Everything does."

Overall, this is a beautiful story of loss, letting go of past pain, taking risks, just LIVING. Start the year off right, and get ready to read this book! :)

Reading RVD books is like opening the door and inviting you into their lives. It is not hard to get invested and involved in their lives. Fraternize is not any different. It is a romance story with some hot football players and a couple of cheerleaders. Quinton Miller “Miller” and Kinsey Romanov “Kens” were involved and then are separated because Kinsey’s brother Jax thinks it would be better for her to take a trip to Europe for a while. Torn, Miller agrees with Jax, so he doesn’t upset his best friend and apply more stress to Jax. When Kens gets back from her trip, Jax decides that Miller needs to pretend date Kens, to keep her away from her ex, who treated her horribly. Chicken and Waffles is then born, nicknames. You have to read who is chicken and who is waffles.
Hilarity ensues. But true to RVD, you are blindsided by tearjerkers. And there are a few side stories that I can’t wait to see how they play out- Jax’s story, for one.

RVD books are awesome. Check out her other books. She has many other books, of my kinds.

Rachel Van Dyken mixes sweet, funny and heartwarming emotion into this book and I for one am a huge fan.

I absolutely loved Fraternize so it was a no brainer for me to want to read Infraction. Especially since I fell in love with Miller in book 1 and my heart broke for him. I needed him to get an HEA and Rachel delivered on so many levels.

This book had it all, from the emotional rollercoaster filled with some tragedy, self doubt, grief and a strong sense of family. This book will call to your very soul and at the center of that for me was Miller because I absolutely loved him in this and I wasn't even sure that was possible since I already did before even reading this book.

Kinsey and Miller their push and pull and back and forth might even give you whiplash from time to time but at the very heart of this they were strongly connected and it almost seemed like they were destined to end up together.

There were a ton of sad moments in this book and one moment in particular where my heart absolutely cried out. You will definitely know it when you get to it, mind you there were a bunch of moments in here that will definitely bring out all the emotions.

There is a bonus in this book that I didn't expect and that is we get more than just one story so it was almost like hitting the book lottery here. I won't say who but I was pleasantly surprised and happy at how RVD managed to throw a bit of extra love in here.

I will continue to gobble up any books that this woman writes. She seriously can't do any wrong in my opinion.

Infraction, book two of Rachel Van Dyken’s sexy contemporary sports romance series, starts right where Fraternization left off… in Vegas, “the morning after” with Miller “…the hottest tight end with a tight end made for sin.” & his quarterback besties little sister, Kinsey “…off-limits little firecracker-“. Will this third wheel to Fraternizations love triangle get his happy ending? “Everything in life comes full circle. Everything.”

Told in first person from a triangle point of view – the range of this story limitless – you won’t want to put it down. From secret keeping, lies by omission, to heartbreak, loss, sadness & betrayal, this story is surprisingly emotional with its focus on how “It’s important to use every minute of the life you’re given…” because “…the future is never certain.” Connections between lovers, friends & family are so incredibly strong ~ “That deep-pull. The connection that you feel without using words.” All the while funny "He made his coffee strong enough that I was worried that one day I’d wake up with chest hair.", witty, incredibly sexy “God bless football, and God bless the V,…”, & heart felt “I had a spot, they always made sure I had a spot.” This is a story of love, shared grief & mourning, of overcoming “Hurt. Sadness. Anger.” & realizing the importance of living life to its fullest. What happens when it’s time to lose control & share the responsibilities of “…protecting everyone and everything around you, fighting for what’s good, what’s right.” These characters work through their pasts & fears so they can “…have the heart of a lion.” & take a risk for a future with a full life & heart. “The heart is strong. The heart can convince the body of anything. It can convince your mind of anything. Your heart allows you to be whatever you want to be, you just have to trust it.”

Another impressive read from Rachel, whose ability to deliver a perfect mix of angst, humor & emotion never fail. I cried, did I mention I totally cried? Such a beautiful combination of a hot romance with gut-wrenching, heartstring pulling grief & the ability to survive loss of the deepest kind. “My body is giving up. But my soul is a fighter, so when I leave this earth, I want you to remember that even though my body’s broken, gone, dust, my soul’s free.”

“It may hurt, but it’s good. Life is good.”

So good – I’m hoping the next story will be a hero & his brazen little elf.

This is the second book in the Players Game series. I do recommend you read Fraternization first. Miller does play a role in that book as well. And Miller and Kinsey’s story starts in it, also.

After reading Fraternization, I couldn’t wait to get Miller’s book!

I do have to say, I’m mad at Rachel, she made me cry a couple of times!

Miller is a great guy. But he’s been hurt before. He’s guarded.

Kinsey has some secrets. I can understand why she didn’t want to tell Miller.

Jax, you set this all up. How could you not see they were fighting their feelings?

I loved how we got Jax’s story in this also. It did leave me wanting more though.

I love Harley’s grandma.

They had some hard lessons to learn in this book.

“Sometimes, in life, you fall down, you get hit, sometimes you have hard days, das that make you want to quit… sometimes your body makes you think it’s time to quit.” “But never forget about your heart.” “The heart is strong. The heart can convince the body of anything. Your heart allows you to be whatever you want it be, you just have to trust it.”

I really want more!

Fraternize was one of my favorite reads this year and had high hopes for infraction. I can safely say that infraction does not suffer from the sophomore curse. Not only in infraction a fun read, Rachel does a good job at pulling at the heart strings and I can say there might have been a few tears shed and an ugly cry thrown in for good measure.

Miller is the guy who did not get the girl in the last book and I'm okay cause #teamsanchez here. While Miller played a huge part in the first book we really didn't get to know what made him tick. When the layers are pulled back we see a man who never got over the loss of his mother and it has ruined every relationship he has ever had. Miller is a man who has lived selfishly, willing to take everything but refusing to give for fear of being hurt.

Kinsey is a girl with secrets. She has been abused and hurt by people who should have loved and protected her that she is willing to hide who she is in order to protect herself and those closets to her. Kinsey deep down just wants a guy to love and cherish her, but she often feels that she is not worthy of such love.

Miller and Kinsey had such amazing chemistry and I loved watching them work through there issues. There journey was not always easy and it was rough at times, but they kept fighting, kept talking and refused to give up on each other.

The only thing that did not work for me where the Jax's chapters. Jax is a great character and really deserved his own book but reading his chapters felt a little distracting and took away from Miller and Kinsey.

Otherwise this was another great read and can not recommend this dulogy enough.

Infraction is the perfect mix of sports romance, fake relationship & best friends sister all rolled into one. The second book in the Players Game series, and focuses on Miller, Kinsey & Jax. Fans of Fraternize will love getting to learn more about these characters, with appearances from Emerson & Sanchez as well.

During the first book I was definitely feeling the pull between Miller & Kinsey, and am so happy we were able to get their story. And as an amazing bonus we were given Jax's as well! I loved getting the three different POV's, and Jax was so much more than I could have imagined.

Miller & Kinsey haven't seen each other since he freaked out and helped send her out of the country after their drunken night in Vegas, and Kinsey plans on avoiding him at all costs. Unfortunately for her she comes back to town and is immediately told by her brother they need to fake a relationship. Because Miller is Jax's best friend, the one guy he knows he can trust not to touch his sister. Can Miller & Kinsey hide their true feelings from each other -and Jax -while convincing everyone else they are actually dating?!

I adored these characters and their story, There was the perfect mix of chemistry, passion, laughter & tears. I highly recommend this, as well as the first book, Fraternize. I would love more from all these characters, here's hoping that we get more books in this series!

Infraction by Rachel Van Dyken

Based on the last book I read by RVD just a few days ago, I was really not looking forward to reading this but thought I'd best get it out of the way. Well color me surprised. I thought this was just great - there was family, there was friendship, there was heat. There were times I laughed and times I cried. A lot.

Infraction features characters we met in Fraternize: the lovable Kinsey and the delectable Miller. We find out what happened in Vegas and now that Kinsey is back home, what will become of them particularly with Kinsey's brother encouraging them to fake-date.

I loved Miller from the previous book and I still love him now. I felt like he got a raw deal previously and I'm thrilled that he got his HEA particularly with someone like Kinsey. She's got such a great personality and while I really felt for her with the way she was treated even though it was with the best of intentions, I think she handled it all as well as she could. I enjoyed this book so much and the bonus? We get two love stories here!

I definitely recommend this and while it can be read as a standalone, I think you're better off to read it after Infraction so you get the full picture of who's who and what's what.

This series has officially moved from “books I like and want some more” to “my favs, I hope these authors write a little quicker” ?

This book made me cry, laugh, show signs of extreme irritation, swoon, cry some more and grin like the cat that ate the canary. ?

There is nothing in this world as precious as a sibling bond, and Rachel does an amazing job showing the more private side of that relationship. With all the ups and downs a family can face, the author wraps this story into a heart breaking bow and gives us a wonderful ending!

Rachel has once again wrote a phenomenal book. I didn’t want to put it down. At one point I had tears running down my face. Miller is the best and Kinsey is just so innocent. Love them two together. Must read book and series. Now...Bring on Jax.

OH MY GOSHHHH! YESSS THIS BOOK IS SUPER AMAZING!!! Definitely one of my top favorites of all time together with Fraternize. Once again I am in awe with another phenomenal book from my favorite author. Thanks Rachel for always keeping me pleasantly surprised, and captivating me with your amazing romantic stories. Thank you so much for entrusting me with this ARC! LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!! LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!!

Rekindling my love for Miller was so easy coz I already fell hard for him in Fraternize. I was rooting for him and Emerson to get back together because they were already fulfilling their childhood dream. Miller playing football while Emerson cheering for him as a cheerleader for the Bucks. But it wasn't how their story ended. I was so heart broken for Miller coz he truly loved Em. Though it was hard for me to do, I had to accept that they were fated to be just friends. Nevertheless, I was happy for Em because she found her true love with Grant whom I also fell in love with.

There's so many things I wanted to say about how Infraction touched and affected me and why I love it so much. To start with, this book is everything I ever hoped for to continue Miller's story. I was so happy that he got his second chance at love with Kinsey. I love how they met and started a friendship that neither one of them expected to progress since both were hurt with their past relationships especially Miller. Circumstances kept on bringing them together. They were always at the right place at the right time. A serendipity of sorts. Little did they know that love was slowly creeping its way into their hearts. Though it was Jax's idea for their pretentious relationship, I still believe that it was fate that brought them together.

I love that I got to witness two amazing love stories unfold before my very eyes; Miller and Kinsey's and then Jax and Harley's. I truly appreciate the remarkable concept that Rachel did here. Two love stories in one awesome book. I love Jax's caring, loving and over protective persona. I understood why he felt the need to protect Kinsey. Their bond as brother and sister was so strong. But when he finally let go of Kinsey to be with Miller, he was also able let himself be free to also fall in love with Harley. It would have been wonderful if Jax had his own book. Surely, I'd be ecstatic to read more of his time with Harley. A woman so strong and feisty, but correspondingly, so caring and loving too.

Rachel never fails to make me giggle and swoon. Elements that I always look forward to in her books. The bantering of these guys made my stomach hurt from laughing. But then, it also brought tears just as easily as they made me laugh. Miller giving hope and courage to a sick boy deeply touched me. The story has got tremendous love being shared and passed on. The bond of friendship these guys formed went beyond as teammates, but by being a family as well. They went as brothers willing to fight for each other, and always ready to be there in good times, and most especially, in bad times.

I highly recommend this fantastic, heart-warming book. My heart was overflowing with so much emotions. Thankfully, it's more of the feel good, loving and intoxicating kind. My mind was once again driven to a special place, and it felt like I was part of this special family. My soul raptured in heavenly bliss, and as always, I was hungry for more...

Infraction is the second book in the Players Game series. It follows up Fraternize, but it can be read as a standalone. Infraction is the story of Miller, a tight end for the Bellevue Bucks, and Kinsey, a cheerleader, who is the Quarterback, Jax's, sister. Jax has always tried to protect his younger sister, but in doing so, he has had a tendency to be a little overbearing and overprotective. When Kinsey and Miller hooked up in Vegas seven months ago, they agreed to keep it a secret, knowing that Jax would freak if he knew his close friend hooked up with his younger sister. Kinsey has just returned from a trip to Europe, Jax's idea of protecting her by sending her away, and when she returns, she learns her life is about to be turned upside down. When Jax finds out Kinsey's abusive ex, Anderson, is trying out for the team, he forces Miller and Kinsey into a fake relationship to protect her, all without knowing the very real attraction between the two of them. Miller and Kinsey agree because they know how much stress Jax has been under, but they didn't know the full extent of why. Jax kept it from Kinsey while she was abroad, but now that she's back, he tells her that their father has cancer, and the prognosis isn't good. Kinsey and Miller try to keep things on a friendship level, but how long can that last with their history and the insane chemistry between them? How will Jax handle finding out that the only guy he trusts his sister with is actually the one falling for her? This story is full of hilarious banter and lots of sexual tension and chemistry. It's also full of heartbreak and loss and healing because of the storyline with Kinsey and Jax's dad.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I really liked the first book in this series, but Infraction is my favorite. I feel like there is so much going on with the characters, but not to the point where you get distracted. I wanted to smack Miller for the second time. He knows that he is making mistakes, but he also thinks they are for the right reason. He hurts Kinsey and he wants to fix his mistakes, but also wants her to do what he thinks is the right thing for her...and her brother. Miller might be a little scared of Jax. ;)

Kinsey is angry at Footballers in general and one or two in particular. After being hurt and tossed aside, she doesn't want to feel that way again. Her past comes back to taunt her. Jax thinks that he has the perfect way to protect her, but it might just blowup in his face. Family secrets are revealed and Kinsey feels hurt and betrayed by her own family. She needs someone to lean on, but can she trust Miller to be there for her this time?

Reading all of the emotions going on for Kinsey, Miller and Jax are amazing and pull you in. You feel for all of them while still wanting to smack the guys upside the head. I'm so glad that Kinsey has a friend that can put Jax in his place. I really enjoyed getting to see Jax's point of view in this book and seeing why he made the decision that he did in regards to their dad's health.

This book is definitely a must read. I promise that you will not be disappointed.

After finishing Fraternize, my heart was broken for Miller and I couldn’t wait to find out who put it back together! It did not disappoint!

This series is so great in so many ways. They are not just stories of football players falling in love with cheerleaders. They are about real life. They are problems and emotions that we can all relate to. We’ve all lost someone close to us. This was a very emotional book and I ugly cried more times than I’d care to admit out-loud.

Miller and Kinsey’s relationship is everything! It’s full of hot chemistry and powerful feelings. Their love story is a hard one to not believe in and fall head over cleats for. The complexity of their friends and family make the road bumpy but watching them overcome the obstacles was beautiful in every way.

I love the pace of this story. It was hard to put it down straight from the prologue all the way through the epilogue. This book has all of my favorite things wrapped up with a bow -- sports, lust, love, the protective brother, friendship, loss, family, and healing.

You need to read this book. Grab it now! If you haven’t read the first book, Fraternize I highly recommend you read it first. You’ll enjoy it too! I promise!!

P.S. I really love that we got to see Jax find his happy ever after right along with Kinsey and Miller. I hope one day he gets a book of his own. I love him!

We first met Miller and Kinsey in the first book, Fraternize. Infraction picks up several months after their one-night stand in which they both pretended their amazing night didn’t happen.
Miller’s best friend, teammate and Kinsey’s over protective brother asks him to pretend to be Kinsey’s boyfriend so their new teammate (and Kinsey’s ex) will stay far, far away from her. The only problem is Miller and Kinsey want each other. They try to remain friends but given the health issues of Kinsey’s Dad and the emotional toll seeing her ex, Kinsey’s finds comfort being with Miller.

“Just”—I jerked away from him—“play your part, and I’ll play mine, we’ll shake hands when this is all over, and if you kiss me again, ever, without my permission I’ll tell Jax all the other places you kissed without his permission and we’ll see where that leaves you . . . and the team.”

Does Miller get to kiss Kinsey again? Does Jax punch Miller when he finds out they slept together? You’ll just have to read it and find out. Please keep in mind that you will laugh, cry, ugly cry and laugh while reading this book. Once you open it, you will not want to put it down.
Rachel Van Dyken is a brilliant! I have no idea how she keeps coming up with great stories and characters that needle their way into your heart. RVD is the only author that can have me ugly crying one moment and then snorting with laughter the next. What I like best about RVD’s writing style is that it’s not overly detailed and there is no internal character dialogue.

Infraction by Rachel Van Dyken was one sweet, sexy and beautiful romance done right. Van Dyken truly captured the connection between Miller and Kinsey. Their chemistry was tangible and palpable but Miller is very well aware that they must keep their relationship a secret from Jax, who is Kinsey’s older brother. And so when Miller and Kinsey have to keep their relationship a secret, what happens when the truth is revealed?

Fun, sexy, heartwarming and had an emotional pull to keep readers entertained and drawn to RVD’s writing and characters. Infraction is an example of best-friends little sister romance done right with all the feels to keep you smiling and wanting more.

Reviewed on behalf of The Book Boyfriend Addict. A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

'I had beautiful women surrounding me on a daily basis, but for some reason, this one, this off-limits little firecracker—had me.'

Quinton Miller may not have gotten the girl he thought he was meant to be with but what he did get was one hot night with Kinsey Romonov, his QB, Jax’s, very off-limits sister. Things may not have ended well for them after that night but when Jax asks Miller to fake date his sister in order to protect her from her horrible ex it may be the opportunity he needs in order to make things right with the woman he couldn’t stop thinking about – even if he is risking the wrath of Jax if he ever finds out what happened that night in Vegas. Jax is only one of the many obstacles standing between them and a happily ever after – ex’s, secrets, and loss all threaten to tear them apart before they even get a real chance at starting.

“Maybe I just want to savor you.”
Tears filled my eyes. “You say things like that, and I may just get attached to you, Quinton Miller.”
“That’s kind of the point, Kinsey Romonov.”

This book picks up right where Fraternize leaves off and while it technically can read as a standalone, I would recommend reading them in order because the first book is where you really get Miller’s backstory and it’ll really help you better understand what’s going on in this book. After reading Fraternize and seeing how that all turned out, I was looking forward to this book because I really liked Miller and felt bad for him with how everything turned out. I liked the idea of him and Kinsey and for the most part, I really enjoyed them together, they definitely had great chemistry. I found myself annoyed sometimes with Kinsey, it was clear she’d always been coddled and I appreciated her wanting to be allowed to live her own life, but then she would do something where she’d practically admit she could never handle life on her own and it basically negated her desire for independence. When she would have one of her rare strong moments, though, I did like her and I was rooting for her and Miller.

If you’ve read Fraternize then you already know how overprotective Jax was when it came to Kinsey, so it was no surprise that he would have such a big role in this book. But it was surprising to see several chapters from his POV, it almost read like a novella within a novel and I wonder if that was just a way to give him a love interest without actually giving him a book. I guess time will tell on that. I will say, I was a little weirded out over the level of Jax’s protectiveness over Kinsey at times and that made me sad because I really liked his character and didn’t want to feel that way. I don’t think it was RVD’s intention to make readers feel that way either, but that’s just how it came off to me. It isn’t until pretty late in the book that we get an explanation that does help some, but I just wish that aspect had been toned down some. I think she could have made the same point without it being so over the top.

I don’t mean to sound negative because really I did enjoy most of this book and there were some delightfully emotional parts that were really unexpected. Plus we got to see Emerson and Sanchez, and if you’ve read the first book, you know how much fun that is! I really do like this group and was glad about how everything turned out, there were just some bumpy parts that I had to get through in order to get there.

With a chuckle, I pressed a kiss against her mouth and whispered, “I never stood a {censored} chance, did I?”
“Never.”

3.75 stars--INFRACTION is the second instalment in Rachel Van Dyken’s contemporary, adult PLAYERS GAME sports, romance series focusing on the men and women of the professional football team and their cheerleaders The Bellevue Bucks. This is the Bucks tight-end Miller Quinton, and head cheerleader Kinsey Romonov’s story line. Miller and Kinsey were first introduced in book one FRATERNIZE wherein Miller was part of a love triangle (of sorts) featuring his life long best friend Emerson Rodner, and fellow player Grant Sanchez. INFRACTION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from three first person points of view (Kinsey, Miller, Jax Romonov) INFRACTION follows the friends to lovers, fake romance trope between Bellevue Bucks head cheerleader Kinsey Romonov, and tight end Miller Quinton. Months earlier, following a weekend in Vegas with Miller Quinton, Kinsey found herself forcibly sent to Europe to escape the return of her abusive ex –boyfriend Anderson. Seven months later, Kinsey’s return to America is met with some devastating news that will all but destroy her immediate family. Not only does her father have cancer but her abusive ex-boyfriend is now a member of the Bellevue Bucks. Enter Miller Quinton, Kinsey’s friend, and her brother Jax’s teammate, and the man with whom Kinsey will fall in love. To avoid further conflict with Kinsey’s ex, her brother and ‘America’s quarterback’ Jax Romonov offers up a plan to protect the sister he has always loved-a fake dating scenario between Miller and Kinsey-a hands off relationship that, unbeknownst to Jax, began months before.

The attraction between Kinsey and Miller is immediate but an attraction that must be both played up and played down in order to keep the demons at bay, and Jax from discovering the truth about their past relationship. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top sexually graphic, language and text.

A side relationship is developing between Jax Romonov and Kinsey’s friend, fitness model and yoga instructor Harley. Harley is a fiercely independent and brutally honest woman who has caught the eye of ‘America’s Quarterback’, an over-protective alpha male where it concerns his younger sister. Pulled in too many directions Jax struggles with the emotional fall out of his father’s illness, potential threats to his sister, and the fake relationship that isn’t fake-at all.

INFRACTION is a story of family and friendship; secrets and betrayal; falling in love and letting go of the past. The cancer story line is emotional and heart breaking-a heart break that furthers Jax’s spiral out of control. The premise is emotional and sexy; the romance is passionate and fated; the characters are colorful and charismatic.

Although this is being marketed as book number two in a series, you do not need to have read the first book in order for this one to make sense. There is of course, some cross-over between the characters, but this story focuses on Miller and Kinsley (and to a lesser extent her brother Jax and her friend Harley).

Speaking just on this story... *sigh*

Ok so on the whole I enjoyed this one more than I did the first in the series. I enjoyed the playful banter between the characters, I enjoyed the complicated relationships between all of the characters, and I enjoyed seeing the brotherhood that exists between the players. The fact that we also got to see things from Jax's perspective (and his introduction to Hayley) added another layer to this story. I had such high hopes this was going to be a 4 or 5 star read.

AND THEN.... I don't know what happened. I have read A LOT of Rachel's books, and for the most part, I've loved a lot of them. She has been in fact one of my favorite authors. However, certain aspects of this story were so disgustingly inappropriate, not to mention tacky, that I had to drop some stars off.

*** BEGIN SPOILERS***

Don't get me wrong, I am all for a well done sex scene when it adds to the overall plot. Heck, I even enjoy the occasional sex scene when it DOESN'T add to the overall plot. But to take two characters, place them at a HOSPITAL PARTY for SICK children/teenagers and think its ok to have said characters sneak off, hide behind a large potted plant and proceed to make out, touch and basically dry hump to orgasm? It begs the question just who thought that was a good idea.
These would be the same two characters, who while visiting her parents (did I mention her father is dying), had a bit of a falling out. They quickly reconciled however, to the point they decided to have sex in his car. While parked across the street from her parents house. Tacky much?
*** END SPOILERS ***

All things considered, I believe this story may still appeal to those who enjoy sports romances, or romantic comedies in general. I would read more from this author.

“Because life isn’t full of people who are willing to save you—sometimes, all you have is you.”

It came as no surprise that I would devour this book. I loved Fraternize, but can easily say that Infraction stole my heart and had me championing on all the characters to find their happiness by letting go and giving in to their hearts. In fact, I even shed a bit of a tear--something Rachel knows I rarely do. And, in the spirit of honestly, I may have cursed her out a bit, but then quickly shared my love and devotion for her writing.

Willing to take on tough life subjects, Rachel Van Dyken offers a glimpse into the pain that is caused by loss. She shares how sometimes the personal hardships we face prepare us to be better equipped to help those who come into our lives. Or, sometimes they help us face the past and learn how to heal on our own or with other. However, finding ways to let go of the past in order to embrace what the present and future have to hold is a difficult task and often results in a journey.

“…it’s okay to need to rely on someone else when you feel like you’re about to break—that’s life.”

Infraction is a carefully crafted and amazing piece of work that shows just such a journey, all while capturing Rachel Van Dyken's signature RomCom elements mixed with the passionate and poignant life messages she so easily infuses that inspire and encourage readers. Through Quinton Miller's relationship with Kinsey and Jax's realization that he cannot control everything in life, Infraction gives readers two romances that show just how strong and resilient the heart can be. The players still embrace the snark and sarcasm we have come to love as readers— they still banter and push one another, but they love fiercely and share their hardships, fears, and undeterred friendship that allows them to learn to let go, trust, and find the ability to love.

“The heart is strong. The heart can convince the body of anything. It can convince your mind of anything. Your heart allows you to be whatever you want to be, you just have to trust it.”

Brilliantly written, the chemistry between Kinsey and Miller will have readers laughing, crying, and cheering for their HEA. And Harley and Jax will leave you asking for more—as their relationship has so much left to share. I mean really, we need the details!

Kinsey was hurt when after one night with Miller he encourages her to leave the country. During their separation his actions and non-actions only add to the pain he inflicted. Now she’s returned and if it’s not bad enough that her ex is going to be trying out for the team, her brother, Jax, has decided in order to protect her, Miller and her should pretend to be in a relationship.

Miller has never wanted anyone the way he wants Kinsey. However, there is something holding him back, making him afraid to reach for the prize. He can’t do relationships. He can’t fall in love. He isn’t even sure if he has a heart anymore. But he wants her even if she is his best friend’s sister. And everyone knows that Jax will kill any man that so much as looks at Kinsey with lust in their eyes.

I was a bit nervous going into this one because Miller had been in love with Emerson for so long. I have a hard time with stories where the hero has loved another and in this case, I felt like Miller would never be able to truly get beyond what he felt for Em. I was thrilled to see that that was not the case. Yes, Miller had feelings for her but that was not the root of his issues when it came to his relationship with Kinsey.

As all good pretend boyfriend tropes have, there is scorching chemistry between the two. And of course it becomes more than pretend. But this book was so much more than that or the struggle of dating the best friend’s sister. I digs into familial relationships, friendships and fighting for the right to stand strong. I absolutely loved all the layers this author built into this story. My heart caved when we were introduced to Marco and when we meet him again I sobbed. Such a small amount of the book and yet it was huge.

This book will definitely go down as my most favorite to date by Ms. Van Dyken. Definitely the one you want to read if you’re looking for something stronger than your normal sports rom com.

This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and Skyscape.

So much love for this book! I started off feeling luke-warm about this book. I wasn’t sure if I was going to vibe with it or if it was going to really connect but by the last couple chapters I had tears in my eyes. Typical Rachel Van Dyken, hook-line-sinker. I honestly don’t know why I had any doubts. Infraction is a sizzling hot romance that had me swooning, sobbing, and sighing. Rachel artfully crafts real characters with tangible emotions.

While the plot was somewhat predictable, it didn’t take away from the story. I adored that this is a 2-for-1 story where you get Kinsey and Jax both getting their own HEAs. Em and Sanchez are back and up to the same shenanigans we saw in Fraternize. There is also a filter-free Grandma who had me hooting and hollering the second she appeared on the page (for more hilarious Grandmas…see The Bet Series by Rachel Van Dyken).

I was torn with my love of Jax, I would have liked more time for his relationship to develop but I am happy that Rachel acknowledged openly in the story that it happened fast. Miller and Kinsey had hilarious banter blended with touching moments that had my heart yearning. The tenderness of Miller had me wanting to cuddle up to him and never let go. My hands-down favorite moments though are when Sanchez, Miller, and Jax are together. The bromance is alive, well, and funny. What can I say other than that it was just a good read.

Quinton Miller knows he is making a mistake when he sleeps with his friend and teammate's sister... but his biggest regret is how their fling ended...

Kinsey Romonov isn't going to let Miller have the satisfaction of knowing just how much he hurt her. With her overprotective brother worrying about shielding her from too many things at once, he enlists the help of the last person she wants to be spending time with...

Although their old mistake still lingers, once Kinsey and Miller are faced with the reality of how complicated life is about to get, when they start to lean on each other and offer their mutual friendship, will it change the nature of their connection and cause their attraction to finally burn out...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Miller and Kinsey have a rough start. With Kinsey's brother a vocal reminder of why they can't have a relationship, they spend a lot of time avoiding what they really want. But with their friendship comes the undeniable existence of their need for each other.
This was a good read! Full of the heartbreak that life throws at you and the true reality of finding people you can lean on to help you through the worst of it all.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Where do I even start with how phenomenal Infraction is? In Infraction Rachel Van Dyken brings Kinsey and Miller’s tale to light. After a secret night together Miller and Kinsley have spent the summer apart (not by choice). Now that Kinsey is back her brother Jax comes baring some news Kinsey’s ex Anderson is on the team and he wants’ Miller to be her fake boyfriend. Tension is in the air as Miller and Kinsey didn’t part of good terms, pretending to be together is going to be harder then hiding the fact from Jax that they have been hiding their night together. When family secrets arise it’s Miller that Kinsey turns to, will these two be able to see past the blurred lines of real and fake and of friendship and lovers. Wow seriously wow this book is amazing from the story line to the characters. Rachel Van Dyken draws her readers in and keeps them begging for more! The humor, banter and friend ship between the characters is priceless. Infraction is a roller coaster of emotion, just when I was laughing one minute; Rachel goes and has me sobbing the next. Such a beautiful book; with powerful and lovable characters and a story line that will stay with you for a very long time. A must read for all romance lovers!
Infraction is the second book in Rachel Van Dyken's fantastic Players Game series. It can be read as a stand alone, but I would highly recommend reading book one as well, to get the full effect of this amazing series.
What starts out as a hilarious romantic comedy, quickly turns into a story with great depth, with humor continuing throughout. Rachel has a way of completely consuming your entire being and never letting go. I laughed, cried, as well as laugh so hard I nearly cried while reading about these memorable characters.
I first met Quinton Miller in book one of this series. He inadvertently was in a bit of a love triangle, and the ending of that book had me dying to know what would happen between Miller and Kinsey in this one. He was after all new to the Bucks, and her brother is the starting quarterback, who is quite protective of his little sister, the captain of the cheer squad.
I completely devoured this in one sitting. I loved the world Rachel has created and never wanted to leave. I love that she was able to intricately weave multiple storylines into this incredible book. I cannot wait to see what Rachel Van Dyken comes up with next!
Loving some Footballers Infraction, Book 2 in Players Game
Story picks up with Miller Quinton, pro football player and his best friend Jax’s younger sister Kinsey. See when things did not go in his favor with Emerson, one night in Vegas, he turned to Kinsey in a drunken state. He knew she was off limits but needed someone to comfort him. Kinsey was more than willing to take the chance on him. Fast forward a few months while preparing for the upcoming season and new players being added to the team, one of which would be a past toxic relationship for Kinsey, Jax ask Miller to protect his sister by pretending to be interested and “fake” dating her. Little did Jax know, Miller was more than happy to take him up on his offer because he has had her on his mind since that night in Vegas. He tried to get her out of his mind, but everything led back to Kinsey.
I really liked the sexiness of Miller and Kinsey, for me a perfect match. He was so caring and loving to her. He really tried to stay distant but she was his person. And she was in need of someone other than her brother to take care of her. Rachel gets the right amount of heartbreak and laughter in this book. You are rooting for them as a couple even though Jax is trying so hard to keep them apart. I would recommend this book if you are in the mood for a fun read.
This is the second book in this awesome series and it covers 2 of my favourite genres, sports and best friends sister. This book made me laugh and it made me sob! I love and devoured each and every word.
This book covered a very hard topic and it did it in such a beautiful way with emotion and humour. Having gone through this myself I found this book covered this topic well and brought the feels out that was so raw and emotional and real.
This book wasn't only Kinsey and Millers story but its also Jax and Harley's so you get two awesome couples that you love to cheer for!. I fell in love with Miller in book 1 Fraternize but I knew that Em was better suited for Sanchez so I was very happy to have him finally get his girl and Kinsey was the best match for him. I also loved Jax too, he was always the serious one, the thinker so I really was looking forward to meeting the woman who would knock him on his knees and I couldn't love Harley more!
I am looking forward to seeing what happenes next with this series, I do hope there is more deliciousness with the Bellevue Bucks!
Feels... All the feels came with this book. Where Fraternize was funny and sweet, Infraction was sweet and emotional. The characters were completely lovable and funny and all shared strong bonds (teammates, friends, lovers, family) that molded them as individuals and as a group. Their interconnected ties created some of the strongest and sometimes tested relationships that had them coming out the other side only stronger that before.
In this story Rachel Van Dyken gives us more character perspectives with a much bigger story and love is in the air on that football field. The brotherhood these players have and the friendships they've formed...it was all just magic to feel and then the love relationships that grew was absolute icing on the cake.
Where Fraternize had me laughing and swooning, Infraction had me laughing, swooning and crying. I was put through every emotional gamut possible and would willfully go through that roller coaster all over again.This was such a fantastic read!
We were introduced to Miller and Kinsey in Fraternize. While I loved that story this book
Made me fall for Miller even more. It doesn’t hurt that we share the same last name. I felt like Kinsey was put through so much and I am so happy she came out on top. I was happy to see some more of her background and it really explained why her brother is so protective over her and why she allows it. I’m also very happy with the fact there didn’t seem to be this huge conflict 3/4 of the way through the story that broke the main characters up. It was nice to have them consistently work towards the end goal and I feel like they seemed to talk and work through issues soon after problems arose. This book was told mainly in dual POV but every once in a while we would get Jax’s POV. I loved getting into his head and seeing things from his prospective. This book will definitely be getting a reread in the future.
This is the second game in the Players Game series. This book could easily be read on a stand alone basis, however, I would personally recommend reading Fraternize first to aid the reading enjoyment of this book.
This was another great read from RVD and I really enjoyed this one. The story grabbed me right from the start and it held me captive until the end. It was full of romance, there was an air of mystery running through it, full of humour and as always there was that one moment that just packed such an emotional punch and can I say that I love that RVD is getting a little sexier with her books without it being too much.
Infraction was a really enjoyable read with a fab story and wonderful characters. 4.5 stars from me and a definite recommendation
The latest in Rachel Van Dyken’s Players Game series is a romantic comedy with sorrowful undertones. I laughed so hard that I cried, and as the story progressed and I cried for the characters that became friends and went through difficult times. In the end though I had a huge smile that signaled a great read.
When Miller Quinton accepted his best friend and teammate’s request to fake date his little sister, he did so with some personal doubt because he’s already capitulated to her once. Pretending to be in a relationship with her to keep her abusive ex at bay won’t be a problem. The tricky part will be to feign detachment for the sake of his best, but mostly his damaged heart.
Kinsey’s life is coming undone. Her overprotective brother Jax, not only revealed the fact that their father has cancer but that her ex is being considered to join the team. Going along with the rouse to date Miller to keep her brother from worrying is a bad idea because she’d already fallen for Miller once without anyone knowing. Can she risk her heart a second time while hiding her feelings?
I’ve read many of Van Dyken’s creations and have enjoyed all of them. Infraction is a wonderful brew of fun and sexiness, heartbreak and joy that produced a great deal of smiles, laughs along with some tears I didn’t expect but certainly appreciated because nothing beats that great combo: laugh, cry, smile and swoon.
There were many elements I liked about this story. Jax and Kinsey’s mom and dad, and Miller’s grandma were a lovely example of what parents should be like, loving, understanding and with a sense of humor. The friendship between the players was also showcased. And then there were the main characters and Jax. Yes, Jax got several chapters with his own point of view which were not only insightful to the man with the hero complex but also a great guy who deserved his own love story. I suspect we’ll be getting more of Jax and Harley in future installments or a story of their own.
Kinsey and Miller were already friends but they blurred that line one night in Vegas several backs prior. The connection and attraction is still there though and being forced to be in close proximity to each other on a daily basis only makes matters worse. Both were likeable characters I was happily on board with. I loved the push and pull between the, as well as their witty banter and all the heat between them.
Rachel Van Dyken creates a story as heartfelt as it is hilarious, a tribute to living life at its fullest. Infraction is book #2 of the Players Game series. It is standalone contemporary sports romance. It’s a friends to lovers, forbidden brother-best-friend story. Told from several points of view and has a happy ending.
Infraction is book two in the Players Game series by Rachel Van Dyken. I fell madly in love with the first book in this series, Fraternize so I was sure that I couldn’t love this second book as much. Well, I was wrong. I might even love it more. This series is amazing. Infraction is the perfect blend of laugh out loud funny and hug your teddy bear heart breaking. You will not only get Miller and Kinsey’s story, but also Jax and Harley’s story at the same time. Plus, getting updates on Sanchez and Emerson from the first book. What more could you ask for?
Quinton Miller plays tight end for the Bellevue Bucks football team. We knew something was brewing between he and Kinsey Romonov in the previous book and we know something happened between them at the end of that book. Well, now, its seven months later. Kinsey has been out of the country at the insistence of her brother, Jax, and also Miller. But now she’s back. Miller has done his best to avoid her since she came back but when Jax asks him to be his sister’s fake boyfriend to help to keep a crazy ex of Kinsey’s away from her, they are again thrown together. And even if he is supposed to be faking his feelings for her, the feelings he is having are anything but fake.
“My heart wasn’t whole. So how was it fair of me to even attempt to give something that wasn’t even functioning properly to a girl who had the biggest heart I’d ever seen?”
Jax Romonov has spent his lifetime protecting his little sister. That’s what big brother’s do, right? But when her ex-boyfriend, Anderson Harris, hurt her, he hadn’t protected her. Now Anderson is trying out for their team and Jax doesn’t want him anywhere near his sister. So he asks his best friend to be her fake boyfriend. He trusts Miller would never touch his sister. If he did, he knows he would kill him. Jax and Kinsey’s father is sick with cancer so here is another thing he can’t protect his sister from, the pain of losing their father. With the preseason almost ready to start, Jax has to get his head on straight. It’s not enough that he’s worrying about his sister and Dad, then Harley walks into his life and throws him into a complete tailspin. She teases him, challenges him, makes fun of him, and he can’t think of anything else but her.
Kinsey Romonov is a cheerleader for the Bucks. She is sick and tired of her overprotective brother trying to run her life. And then he has the nerve to force her into a fake relationship with Miller. Seven months ago Miller turned his back on her after their night together. He even helped to put her on the plane to send her out of the country. But she can’t help herself. As soon as she sees him again, it’s all still there. That crazy attraction, that pull between them.
Kinsey and Miller agree to be friends only but that doesn’t last long. The chemistry between them is crazy strong. And Miller finds himself wanting more from her, more of her. Jax, though, would literally put him in a grave somewhere if he knew what happened all those months ago in Vegas. And if he knew what he was thinking now!
As Kinsey and Jax’s father gets increasingly ill, the bonds between both Kinsey and Miller, and Jax and Harley, strengthen. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this book. I fell completely in love with Kinsey and Jax’s family. They were crazy and hilarious and so full of love for one another it made my throat ache. But don’t get me wrong, there are also plenty of heart breaking moments as secrets from the past are revealed, and as their father worsens. I feel like I watched Miller literally grow up in this book. He had events from his past crippling him emotionally. But Kinsey made him want more, to take the risk and give her his heart in hopes that she would give him hers as well.
“I had beautiful women surrounding me on a daily basis, but for some reason, this one, this off-limits little firecracker – had me. And I was powerless.”
I fell in love with Quinton Miller in the first book of this series and didn’t think it was possible to love him more but I was wrong. This man melted me into a puddle of goo. I loved he and Kinsey together. And Jax with all his over the top protectiveness was still perfect. Add in heaps of hilarity from Sanchez. I don’t remember him being so hilarious. This series is a must read. I loved both books with all my heart. There is a scene towards the end of this book that made my eyes leak. I’m not saying what it was, you’ll know when you get there. I hope you get a chance to give this series a go. I can’t say enough how much I loved them.
Infraction could technically be read as a standalone, but the backstory of the previous novel, Fraternize, would provide a lot of details to make Infraction more enjoyable. And Fraternize is a kickass story, so go get it if you haven’t yet.
***FRATERNIZE SPOILERS AHOY! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!***
We left off in the previous novel where there was a love triangle standoff where NFL cheerleader Emerson was torn between two NLF players on the team she cheers for: her childhood best friend/first lover Miller Quinton and hunky/mischievous/smooth talker Grant Sanchez. And she chose Sanchez and Miller Quinton took the hit and is in the process of walking it off.
Meanwhile, we are introduced to fellow teammate Jax and his cheerleader sister Kinsey. Jax is overprotective af and we get the hint that there’s a secret going on with this family.
All caught up? Good! Let’s proceed.
Jax as spend his entire life protecting his little sister, Kinsey. She has a painful past and he has appointed himself as her knight in shining armor. Jax is effective, if not a little too overbearing. They are dismayed when they hear that Kinsey’s jackass ex is joining the Bucks team. Jax decides he’s going to enlist the help of his friend and teammate, Miller Quinton, by having him fake date Kinsey to show the nasty ex that she’s off limits.
But what Jax doesn’t know is that Kinsey and Miller had a whoopsie one night. And Miller encourages Jax to send her away on a trip to Europe to avoid bodily harm if Jax finds out about their mistake.
Miller is on board with this charade, but Kinsey? She’s got a grudge that is hard to let go.
This story was so wonderful. Knowing RvD, I know there would be TONS of romance and steaminess, but there is more depth in the story and have some sobering moments and times where you want to strangle the characters.
There is a lot of family dynamics and secret’s with Jax and Kinsey’s family. Getting to know them, their parents and discovering their history was simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking.
And Miller. His pride and heart took a beating in the last book, and watching him heal and form a new and repaired relationship with Emerson and Sanchez. And they way he steps up for Kinsey left me with stars in my eyes.
Infraction is book two in the Players Game series. It can be read as a stand-alone but reading Fraternize (book #1) will give you a better view of the characters and their personalities.
At the end of Fraternize, The Bellevue Bucks had won the super bowl and decided to party it up in Vegas. Well, what happens in Vegas ends up with Miller and Kinsey in bed….. This hilarious Epilogue sets the scene for Infraction.
Miller Quinton and Jax Romonov play Pro football for the Bellevue Bucks. They are team mates and best friends. Both men have so many issues, they need a magazine rack to fit them all! Miller fears getting close to anyone after losing his mom at a young age. Jax feels as though he must protect everyone, especially his sister Kinsey. He is extreme and serious in his need to protect those that he loves. There are reasons for this but I won’t tell them and spoil the story for anyone!
"The guy was either psychotic or just really took his sister’s s*x life way too seriously – or both."
Being the control freak protector, Jax asks Miller to “fake” date his sister because of a situation involving another team mate. He trusts Miller so it’s a no-brainer. Ah, but at the beginning of this review I mentioned that little incident in Vegas….
"Kinsey. The one girl that was off-limits- the one girl I couldn’t seem to get enough of."
Miller and Kinsey struggle with many things. They are attracted to each other but feel as though they can’t or aren’t supposed to act on it. Throw in the fact that they have been good friends and it really muddies the water. Kinsey struggles with her own insecurities and she feels like Miller is ‘obligated’ to carry on the fake dating. But things don’t always go as planned….
Miller and Kinsey have great chemistry and funny banter. They have so many layers of emotions and loss. They were once good friends. Expect the unexpected!
There is a lot going on in this story. There are a few side stories. And also many funny scenes. But there are also serious issues that are also addressed. Love, loss, disappointment, coping and abuse are a few.
I am enjoying the series and look forward to Jax’s story next! Can’t wait to see how control freak, protective Jax deals with the changes that are coming in his life! Jax and Harley. Now that is gonna be quite the story!
Quinton Miller is moving on, but if Jax Romonov knew Miller had slept with Jax’s sister Kinsey, Jax would kill him, at least. So when Jax, of all people, asks Miller to convince Kinsey to go to Europe for the summer, Miller reluctantly goes along. But worse, when she comes back, Jax tells Miller to pretend to be dating Kinsey, Miller is flabbergasted. Kinsey’s ex, Anderson Harris, is back in town, and Jax wants to keep Kinsey safe, like he has always done, but had failed in Harris’ case in the past. Jax has too much on his mind, with their father having cancer, the football season; he cannot afford to worry about his beloved little sister. Should he?
FRATERNIZE was excellent, and I’m wondering if INFRACTION isn’t even better! What a great series Players Game is turning out to be, as Rachel Van Dyken is writing the tropes the way I want to see them written! Just do not expect everything to be as you see them in other books, for which I am ever so thankful. The pace is lightning-quick, the tone energetic, the writing smooth and dynamic, the dialogues spot-on, and the characters just as remarkable as in the previous book, and we do get to see a bit of Emerson and the unbelievable Sanchez. I wondered though if I had misunderstood something about Jax in the first book. There were a few tiny hiccups, such as Miller getting upset about something concerning Kinsey was utterly ridiculous, which was thank goodness extremely brief, and the over-the-top mushy stuff with Marco: the kid was awesome enough already without “the dream angel”, but those are trifles with regards to INFRACTION. There were a few very stirring moments, and the family dinner at the Romonovs was something to behold; it was so funny!
I wonder if there is something in the works for the “jackass” and/or Lily, because there is definitely something to be done with those two, and the way Ms. Van Dyken is reinventing conventional romance tropes in this series, I hope so. Although she would have her work cut out for her, I think Rachel Van Dyken is up for the challenge. There are several stunning twists, every one more awesome than the next. INFRACTION is a book for fearless readers, the ones Ms. Van Dyken deserves.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Infraction by Rachel Van Dyken is the second book in her Players Game series and it’s Miller Quinton’s book. We first met Miller in the first book, Fraternize. I loved Quinton and agreed with how book one ended, now, hopefully he will get his happily ever after! I could not wait to get my hands on this book! At the end of the first book, we know Quinton and Kinsey are feeling some sparks. What does it mean for them? Well now we get their story!
Quinton is settling in nicely with his new team and making friends and will do anything for his teammates. So, when one asks him to “fake-date” his sister, he agrees to help. But what no one knows is he has done a lot more with Kinsey in the past. Though he knows she should be off limits, he wants more with her and finds he cannot deny himself any longer. I loved Quinton. He is a good guy with a huge heart.
Kinsey is finding herself falling. She has been away for months and is now back and needs help. Jax, her brother, recruits Quinton to help, but it is all supposed to be fake. She is tired of her brother’s interference in her life and his over-protectiveness, but he means well. But can she forgive Quinton for turning his back on her in the past? I loved Kinsey. She was feisty and strong, even as others tried to protect her.
I loved this story! We get Quinton trying to avoid his growing feelings for Kinsey, because of her brother and his friend, but the more time they spend together, the less he can stay away. Kinsey has so much going on. An ex she needs to stay away from and her father’s cancer, the last thing she needs is a man in her life. Much less a football player, but Quinton has a pull on her she cannot deny.
I loved catching up with old friends as well. We get to see more of Sanchez and Emerson, as well as other teammates we love! We get to see more of Jax and his future as well. I am definitely loving this series! I love the characters so much and well, you can never go wrong with football players. Another great read from Rachel Van Dyken!
Happy reading!
Jax is BEYOND overprotective of his younger sister Kinsey. Most over protective dads or brothers will say “hurt her and you’re dead” but they don’t actually mean it. Well, Jax does mean it. Except he’s more to the extreme of “even just look at her and you’re dead.” He’s forever been way too over protective of Kinsey. He sees it as protecting her, she sees it as suffocating. When her controlling ex boyfriend Anderson comes back into their lives, Jax turns to his teammate and good friend Miller. Hoping it’ll ward off Anderson, Jax asks Miller and Kinsey to be in a fake relationship. What Jax doesn’t know about is the drunken night Miller and Kinsey had months ago and the feelings that he’s reigniting by putting them back together. The story and drama that unfold is so entertaining!
“When my best friend begged me to take care of his sister so he wouldn’t be stressed, I’d had sex with her instead. And kept it from him. Good one, Miller. I was a dead man.”
I really like the POV style Rachel Van Dyken has done with this series. The last book Fraternize was done with 3 POV’s. It was a love triangle with each person having their own POV. This book had 3 POV’s as well but was different. Kinsey and Miller (the two love interests) each had their own POV but also Kinsey’s brother Jax had his own POV. You got a good glimpse into the start of his love life but I’m hoping there will be more to his story and his book will be next in the series.
This is one of my favorite RVD series. All the characters are endearing, even the side characters. RVD sets them up like they’re your real life best friends, not just fictional characters you’re reading about in a book. Her writing is on point. The main characters, the side characters, the football/cheerleading theme, the wit and sass and the dynamic between them all is just so much fun. I love getting lost in these types of books and am hoping there’ll be more to this series!
Infraction is the second book in Rachel Van Dyken’s ‘Players Game’ series and since it’s about Miller, who was my favorite character of the first book, I was so excited to get to it! When I got approved for an arc on Netgalley I jumped in straight away. I enjoyed this book lots! Miller is still a favorite of mine, but I also adored Jax in this one! I’m hoping we get his story next!
Miller has it bad for Kinsey, and she likes him as well, but there is one big problem… that big problem is Jax, Kinsey’s older and very overprotective brother who is also Miller’s teammate. Jax has his reasons being as protective as he is, and it really helped getting his POV so we could see that. I understood him and ended up loving him by the end, because I got it, and I respected him for it.
Back to Miller and Kinsey… these two have a connection, attraction, and friendship. They can have fun together and seem like a perfect pair. They both realize that, but things with Jax make it complicated between them. Miller is supposed to be looking after Kinsey for Jax, and if Jax knew the kind of feelings Miller had for his little sister, it wouldn’t be good. This results in the two of them hiding their feelings, and then, hiding their relationship… you can guess how that turns out!
Most of this story truly was a joy to read. Toward the end… well, lets just say I cried for a solid 20 minutes reading. I didn’t expect for this book to make me cry, but there were some emotional parts at the end that really got to me. Most of the book, however, was a lot of fun and much lighter.
I love the banter, the steamy and swoony moments, the friendship, the family, and all the emotion. Infraction is an entertaining read and a solid 4 stars! If you’re looking for a heartwarming story that will make you laugh and make you cry, I highly recommend!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, given by Netgalley.
Well, this was a story I was definitely looking forward to Reading. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen between Miller and Kinsey and I wasn’t disappointed.
This books is not just about their story though, we get to see a bit of what’s going on with Jax and realize his life hasn’t been as easy as people think. He shares a secret with Kensey that ties them together and this book uncovers that one and a lot more.
Miller is strong and fearless when it comes to football but he has been abandoned by the two most important people in his life, and now he is scared, so he runs. After their first time together he can’t seem to find another way of fixing things than to send her away and break her heart in the process.
Now that she is back and they get stuck into this weird situation there’s no avoiding her.
Kensey is sure of one thing, she can’t resist him, there’s just something about him that calls to her on a deeper level; and things get complicated once he decides he can’t resist her either.
But she is afraid of letting her brother down, and we can’t understand the relationship till they share their darkest secrets.
The book was full of fun moments; these characters are just amazing and hilarious. We also get to see them vulnerable and hurt by life. The whole thing with the kid in the hospital and the dream just brought me to my knees, I cried on my kindle like a little girl.
A really fun and beautiful story.
I have really enjoyed this series so far. Each book isn’t wrapped up with a ‘and they lived happily ever after’ epilogue. They just give you the start of the relationship and let you go from there. As much as I love a good epilogue I really applaud her for going this route. It makes the stories more real for me.
This book had so many ups and downs. It was full of questions and secrets. It had so many emotionally charged scenes I couldn’t get enough. I really fell in love with Kinsey in the first book and couldn’t wait to get her story, it didn’t disappoint. She was always this wildcat but, we got to see a much softer side of her and get some real insight into what made her tick.
Going into this book I really questioned if Miller had really moved on from his love for BFF Emerson, there was a lot of feelings and history between them even after Grant came into the picture. I questioned if he could give his all to Kinsey. But the way the story was told and getting to really tap into his thoughts and emotions helped to put those questions to rest.
The real standout in this book for me was Jax. I was not expecting to get his POV or his story but, boy was I glad we did. We got some real insight into why he was such a stoic and protective brother, son, QB, and friend. I loved every second we got of him and can only hope we’ll get more in the future.
I am beyond excited to see where this series will go next. Rachel Van Dyken is constantly surprising me with storytelling skills, ideas, and these amazing characters.
I absolutely without a doubt was in love with the first book in this series Fraternize. Like weeks after I still couldn't stop thinking about it. I was in a book rut and stopped reading for a bit after. It was just that good. And this book? The second in the series, it did not let me down. I still have a love for the first book but man oh man was the second book still great.
This book was the perfect mix of swoony, sexy, laugh out loud funny and heart breaking. Not only do we get to read more about the first characters but we also get more than one POV storyline which is great. We also get more than one love story which is EVEN BETTER. But I don't want to ruin that for you. So enjoy!
SPOILER ALERT if you have not read the first book!!!! Miller and Kinsey have some history. There was a fast hook up that ended because both of them were scared of what it could mean and also Kinsey's brother, Jax is not someone to mess with. So when Kinsey's ex comes to town Jax has Miller pretend to be Kinsey's boyfriend and to not only protect her but her heart too. Along the way those feelings they both had for each other that they tried to keep bay started of course becoming stronger and soon enough they weren't faking it anymore.
There was so much heart ache in this book. Yet so many laughs and good feeling moments. I don't only highly recommend the first book in this series but I also highly recommend this book and probably anything written by Rachel Van Dyken to be honest.
Quinton Miller’s family is his team, and he will do anything to help them. When Jax needs him to pretend-date his sister, Miller doesn’t hesitate to step up. But it won’t be as easy as it sounds to fake date Kinsey, since they did so much more than kiss several months before.
I loved the banter and wit that Kinsey and Miller had even before they started fake dating. These two are just plain comfortable with each other. They enjoy each others’ company and find more sparks the longer they stay together.
Knowing Jax is so protective of Kinsey, I knew this would be entertaining, but I wasn’t expecting the reasons behind his sheltering ways. This story went deeper than I expected, especially as a new player joins the team, stirring up on field stress, and Kinsey’s family faces challenges she hadn’t seen coming.
This is such a fun group of characters because there are so many threads between all of them. Kinsey and Emerson are best friends. Emerson and Miller are also best friends. Kinsey and Jax are siblings. There are so many combinations here that there is always someone willing to throw a person under the bus in the most entertaining of ways.
This was a fun read that picked up Miller and Kinsey’s story (that though not a main line from Fraternize, wasn’t a stretch as Miller worked to get over the disappointment of losing Emerson). I ended up liking this slightly more than Fraternize, mostly because it didn’t involve a triangle.
Kinsey Romonov has an overprotective big brother, and that is to put it mildly. Locking her in a closet so she couldn’t go to her prom was just one of the many things Jax has done to keep his little sister “safe”. Keeping her from dating other pro-football players is the other way. With mounting pressure on his already burdened shoulders Jax turns to his best friend and team mate Quinton Miller to help watch out for his sister when an ex-boyfriend of hers comes back into town and is too close for comfort. Jax throws Miller and Kinsey into a ‘fake’ relationship to deter the ex and keep him anyway. Miller is all too willing to help his friend and swears to keep his hands to himself, something he’s not sure he can do. Little does Jax’s know that sparks have already flown and been ignited between the fake couple and pushing them together will only fan those flames higher. Hopefully they can will walk away without anyone getting burned.
Rachel Van Dyken has once again written a wonderful rom-com that was both funny and heart wrenching. There were times while reading that I laughed out loud and then the next page wanted to cry. Infraction is a moving story of coming to terms with life, death, love, friendship and the ability to let go. I sat down and read Infraction in one sitting and loved every page. I give Infraction by Rachel Van Dyken 5 stars.
Van Dyken never ceases to amaze ne with her work. Kinsey and Miller's story is heartfelt and touches on some sensitive subjects. Even though she touches on some touchy subjects she still finds a way to bring laughter and light to their story. it was a hard story for me to keep reading because I have been in Jax and Kinsey's shoes, but I'm glad I kept going because it is truly a great story. Patiently awaiting Jax's story.
Infraction lives up to its titlle just not in the way the author intended. The story can be sited for several infractions. The first issue is that the characters do not have the type of chemistry that leaps off the pages into the readers heart. They are forgettable.
The second major problem is Jax. Jax is used as the main point of contention between the hero and heroine. He serves this role well. So much so that he limits the reader’s ability to connect to them. His overporectivenss gets old quick. It is not endearing or brotherly. It borders on weird. And because of his attitude towards his sister every other character treats her like a glass figurine that neeeds to be protected from the word. And she does little to combat this image he creates for her.
Besides the flaws in character development, this story felt forced and rushed. Rachel usually develops characters that the reader can invest in. Everything about this story is stagnant. This series is not one to invest time into if you are looking for characters and stories that haunt you long after the final line is read. It is not even one to pick up if you are looking to get lost for a few hours. It requires too much work to keep reading.
This was such a great read and so many surprises! This one made me cry more than I expected! I loved Miller and Kinsey's story!
Miller and Kinsey kinda have a forbidden romance as in her brother is not okay with her dating a football player, until he is. But it's just for pretend, but what her brother doesn't know is that Miller and Kinsey have already slept together and the chemistry between the two of them is anything but fake.
Filled with secrecy, steam and heartache, this book had everything I never knew I needed!
I also liked that we got some of Jax's story, too! Looking forward to reading more!
4.5 stars!!
I love RVD. Everything she does affects me in some way. Sometimes it's laughing until I cry. Or sucks me in with Mafia and I feel the suspense as if I am living it. Sometimes it's in a saga with vampires, werewolves, Angels, and sirens- oh my. And then there is a book like this that has me laughing out loud one moment and in the next has me crying real tears.
This book gut punched me at the end. Partially because I suffer from the same autoimmune disease, I was a little girl adopted like Kinsi after a tumultuous childhood, and partially because I just lost someone to cancer. I felt all the emotions with this book and then some.
Every character was essential. It was great to see Sanchez and Em again. I loved that we got to see Jax and Hayley in this story. (I floved Hayley. Please let them have a book) Yet, the best were Miller and Kinsi. The chemistry and rapport between these two were everything.
I cannot recommend this book enough. This book reminds me I need to up my stalking and find this author and hug her since she lives less than fifteen miles from me. Hopefully she won't put out a restraining order on me!
I was looking forward to Miller and Kinsey's story, and Rachel Van Dyken did not disappoint. Miller was such a sweetheart, and I enjoyed Kinsey's sass. My only complaint was Jax. I would have preferred POVs from just the main two main characters. His chapters took away from the main story for me. I also felt that his protectiveness over Kinsey was over the top, even after everything was explained. His character aside, this was a fun read with a sweet and emotional ending.
5 Stars! Rachel VanDyken does it again with this new novel. It had all the emotions: you will laugh, cry, and cheer on this group of characters. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good romantic story with laughs and life lessons.
I'm really enjoying this new series from this author. I thought the first in the series was good, but this one is even better. I think most of that lies at the feet of Miller. What can I say about Miller? He's just adorable and one of the most swoon-worthy heroes I've read about in a while. I just love his confidence and his loyalty - the way he feels about his friends and his profession, that's admirable. So his struggle to keep all of that in check is especially endearing. Sometimes it's hard reading about his struggles, especially when they're added to his needs, but the pay-off at the end makes it worth it. And Kinsey. Sometimes she seems too harsh and you wonder what's in her head, but you discover, she has just as much reason to feel the way she does as Miller does. Her past may seem golden on the surface, but when you dig a little deeper, it's kind of heartbreaking. But the two of them together, it's just some kind of sweet magic and I really enjoyed reading about it.
This is the 2nd book, which comes after Fraternize. While this is a standalone, the characters are introduced in Fraternize, and it's so much better if you read that first!
This story is about Kinsey and Miller, pretending to date, while actually harboring secret feelings for each other from a hookup 7 months ago. I love a secret romance. Miller was such a fun character in Fraternize so I was so rooting for him. As a side bonus, we get Jax's story as as well which was unexpected and a great addition to this book.
Rachel Van Dyken is an automatic buy for me, this is another do not miss from her. Excellent Work!
I love the chemistry between Miller and Kinsey. The struggle was real with these two. Miller really struggles with his attraction to Kinsey and his loyalty to Jax. I loved every second of this book. I also loved that it’s two love stories in one because Jax also meets his match! It’s was a quick and fun read for me. You’ll love it too.
Infraction in the second book in the Players Game series, and if you even loved Miller a little bit in the first book you will be absolutely crazy about him in this book. Lucky for me, Miller was my favorite in the last book, so knowing this was his story and chance at a happy ending I was anxious to read it.
Miller is supposed to be keeping an eye on Kinsey for his teammate. What nobody expects is the friendship and feelings that develops between the two. Miller and Kinsey have a connection that will have you swooning, laughing, and maybe even crying. I loved every second of the story between Kinsey and Miller. The fact that Kinsey's overprotective brother Jax is Miller's teammate makes the story just that much more fun. I can't wait to see what we get next, hopefully Jax will get his own story too.
