This book was great for characterizing the life cycle of a man. It identified the critical components in each season and the types of activities that shape a man's life. It identified critical pitfalls and how a man can acknowledge them, give them to God, and be healed in the midst of his failure and brokenness. It is a great opportunity for men and women to understand God's perspective and heart for men.

Oooooooooh, now I get it! Excellent manner of taking you on a ride in a time machine and marking the stages of a man life, one more ticker in the tape of clear intelligent design. Calling all engineers, if you want to know what makes it tick, this is must read.

This book was absolutely amazing which does not surprise me too much since it was written by John Eldredge. I would suggest reading "Wild at Heart" before reading this book just so you have a good foundation to start out with.
Where Wildflowers Bloom (Sisters at Heart Book #1) :: Extravagant Personality of Jesus - Experiencing the Playful :: Tried and True (Wild at Heart Book #1) :: A Guide Through the Trials Young Men Face - Killing Lions :: When The Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka (7-Feb-2013) Paperback

This book was recommended by a good friend who also loves John Eldridge. If I see his name on a book, I want to read it. He is truly a man of God. He writes with passion, artistry and love for people. Again, grateful to have found this at such a great price

excellent reading! My dad that I can remember did not discipline us in a correct way or teach us a lot of life lessons, but he was always an example of a hard worker and supported the family.God the Father will teach you by His Holy Spirit everything in life that you need to know,if you will ask with meekness.

I read enjoyed the book. Just ordered the work book and I'm am already thinking about reading it a 2nd time- too much to digest with just one reading.

The author does a great job at depicting the journey of a boy into Gods realized plan. I love to have mile posts to map my journey and this book did just that. My only thoughts of improvements would that at times the examples of books and literature seemed too abstract for me. That might just be my inexperience as a younger guy but I did get a bit lost in the more dense quotes and prose

Overall, fantastic, much enjoyed, very helpful. I'm a leader of a successful mens purity group and the heart of this message has shaped the perspective and heart on my own journey into manhood. Thank you for guidance and your wisdom in writing this book.

My husband intially wanted to read this and as he read further into the book, he asked me to read certain parts because he thought it would help me understand him much better, and it did! I ended up reading the whole book and it really ministered to me as well. Ladies dont read this book and throw it at your man expecting him to read it and be what you think he should be =)

Expected there to be a finish about what it means to allow God to be your father, instead, I got story after story, from movies and rock climbing adventures. This may be good for some, but, unless you want to read about adventures most of us cannot afford to take, it has about 3 chapters of useful information.
On another note, what is useful in here is very useful, it forces you to think, to consider and to evaluate.

Father in law recommended. Feels watered down and honestly boring. I'm an avid reader and it doesn't hold my attention because it rambles and doesn't make any strong points. I'm also not a fan of using cultural cliches as means to feel manly. I feel manly when I go on a weekend get away hike through the high peaks, sure. I also feel manly when I wear a pink shirt an talk about room decore. Read wild at heart as a teen and this feels like a wild at heart 1.5.

I have enjoyed all their books, especially Captivating. This one has the same level of insight and inspiration, from a different outlook. I have heard many sermons on this subject, but not these insights. Thank you
