Fumbled Hearts (A Tender Hearts Novel)

This is a great debut novel!! I loved everything about this book and had an extremely hard time putting it down. Kalani and Nate were both amazingly written characters that were so easy to connect with and love. The supporting characters made this story that much better, and I cannot wait to read more about them.

Kalani was the type of girl that everyone wants to be friends with. Her honesty was perfect and helped make the twist that much harder to stomach. Her strength was amazing after everything she lost on her 17th birthday and again on her 19th. When she opened her heart to Nate and the other supporting characters, it was amazing to see. Gah, there's so much to say about Nate, I don't even know where to start. I loved his alpha, jealous, possessive behavior, and I loved his sweet side. His connection to Kalani was otherwordly and clearly defined Soulmates. I loved how he supported Kalani and was her strength to recover from everything that happened to her, and I wanted to yell at him so badly when he hurt her.

I want more of their story. I want to see them through college and as married adults and parents. I hope that we get more of them in the other characters' stories. This story was a great read!!

Fumbled Hearts by Meagan Brandy was the first book I have read by this author. But let me tell you, I fell in love with it and I can't wait to read more novels from her.
Right from the beginning you fall in love with Nate & Kalani. The way they meet is hilarious and you have its humor parts. Kalani, is the type of girl that is not afraid to say what she wants, and she can be your sassy girl but also knows how to hang out with the guys.
Nate is this cock assertive playboy who has different girls every time not til he meets Kalani well that all stops there*swooning* The stuff he says to her lets just say will have you melting like butter!
He helps her out through the journey but at the same time is helping himself find the true love.

Fumbled Hearts, is an emotional book that will have you laughing one moment, crying the next and wanting to toss your phone or kindle to the damn wall! You have it all.. Now you should all join this journey and read it and let me tell you that you wont regret it!

I cant wait to read more from this author! For it being her first book she NAILED IT!!!

Gotta start off by saying I cannot believe this is Meagan's debut book. It is EVERYTHING I want in a NA read.

Kalani is a fierce, funny and somewhat broken teenager who has had to grow up way before her time. She is independent, loyal, smart and beautiful. I loved everything about her character and her backstory. Nate is the QB - seemingly the typical high school man whore, big man in town and perfect son. When the two meet sparks fly and the game of cat and mouse begins.

Luckily for Kalani there is actually more to Nate than she first thought and throughout the book I fell in love with him too. I adored the chapters in his POV, they really showed who he was, the real him. He breaks through her barriers and gotta tell you - he is one swoony SOB. I smiled a lot while reading his parts and loved his gentle side.

"I kind of hate he knows what to do and when to do it. Then again, I kind of don’t"

It wouldn't be a NA read without plenty of angst, laughs with your BFF and a little heartbreak. I definitely needed tissues a few times. Throw in a plot twist and fantastic supporting characters and you've got one hell of a read. I look forward to many more stories from this author and definitely recommend this book.

I really liked Nate and Kalani. Their whole relationship, the build up and the misunderstanding was intense. Nate started out as the high school man whore and Kalani (loved her name), the new girl that took no one’s crap. She made him work for it and boy did he! They changed each other for the better, showed that by allowing someone in, your world could be much brighter and you don’t have to settle. They were typical high schoolers who went through the motions but their connection was out of this world. They showed that you can find your “person” at a very young age and not know it till all the stars are aligned. I really liked the side characters Mia, Parker even Austin, hopefully we get their stories soon. I’d definitely recommend reading Fumbled Hearts yourself.

Fumbled Hearts was a book that nearly took a fumble.. but instead got up and scored a touchdown.

Now, don't mistake my saltiness for dislike of the book in its entirety. Thinking this book was set in college, I was surprised with the high school theme, which brings its usual tropes of recklessness, carelessness and overly dramatic behaviour. Featuring teenagers who engage in all kinds of questionable behaviour unchecked is fine in teen world.
But let's get to the actual book.
Does it feature a quarterback bad boy who is suddenly "cured" of his manwhoreish tendencies? Sure.
A plethora of small characters designed for only one purpose? I guess so?

But NO. This book is so much more than that, despite all its faults, the book tells of a true connection, a love story not replicated. Of understanding one's opposite and accepting it. Of feeling someone in one's soul and every fibre. Of being what they need when they don't know it yet. That love story is unique, deliberately different, un-clichéd, flipping some dynamics on their head.
Fumbled Hearts is a great debut novel, "suffering" from the repetitiveness of certain YA tropes, yet I cannot wait to read one of the side character's story soon, and excited to see how Brandy improves over her publishing career.

I thoroughly loved Kalani and Nate's beautiful love story. This is my first book written by Meagan Brady. I am so impressed with her writing style and she sure can bring you to the edge of your seat with anticipation!!! This is a story revolving around the game of football but the game doesn't take over the story. Kalani has now become one of my favourite heroines. She's real and trustworthy, she's been through a terrible amount of loss and sadness yet she's strong and steady. Right from the first time she sees Nate, there was an instant connection. Kalani and Nate have a special kind of love where he truly knows just what she needs. Meagan can truly write a love scene that will melt your panties ladies!!They become involved and gradually they realize this is more than just a casual thing between them. Their friends are great, very supportive and just plain fun. There are also so called friends that want what they have and will stop at nothing to get what they want. Kalani has secrets that she carries with her. Nate has issues trusting his friends around his girl. Can they put the past behind them so they can move on with their lives? I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a true love romance with a leading man that's sexy, thoughtful and very alpha possessive!!

I really enjoyed this author's debut release :) I was urged to read it from another friend that had read it, and she told me that it was one of the best reads of the year in her opinion. How could I not read this gem? The cover is pretty sexy and draws you in from the start. I enjoyed this read and highly recommend it to others. I am giving it a four star rating, only because I tend to like books with the typical formulas (yes, makes for a boring Jenny at times). This book will make you feel, and there are times that I want to feel, and I want to cry, and get angry with the characters. For me, it wasn't that time, BUT that doesn't mean it wasn't an incredible read. When I get into that mood, I'll reread this book, and give it ten stars.

If you are that reader that loves something new, something unexpected, and loves the shakes and feels - then one click this book today. The heroine is one that is enjoyable to read, not some passive wallflower, but fiery and sassy. The hero is a bonehead at times, but his cocky demeanor is hiding deeper insecurities. Not all is what is seems. I can't wait to see what this author comes out with next!

Kalani Embers is the new girl in town. She's 18 years old and a senior in highschool. She's bored of all the highschool drama. Kalani is blunt, sometimes rude and has no time for playing games. She calls it as she sees it and I loved that. Her past is hidden, there are only a few hints here and there and I couldn't wait to discover her story.
And then there's Nate, the star player in highschool. He's full of himself. What he wants, he gets, everything and everytime - 'til he runs in Kalani. He never met someone like her and he's intrigued.
Fumbled Hearts is a heartwrenching and at the same time fun read. Meagan Brandy is a new author to me and this will not be my last read by her.

I absolutely loved this book. Its hard to believe that this is her debut novel. Even though I'm not that much of a football fan, this book really didn't have that much football in it but kept interesting to know why Kalani is the way she is. You get so lost into the teen drama and how everything gets twisted and turned on end.

The character chemistry is wonderfully written. I would so love to see where Kalani and Nate go after this book because I have come to love their characters so much.

4.5 Stars for me! Fun high school football romance with something much deeper as well. This had the feel of a college romance, the characters were much more mature than what I expected, no immature whining and crying. The independence and freedom these teenagers had from their parents was a little far fetched for me, but picturing it as they were in college instead helped me move past that. Lolli and Nate’s relationship was fun and heartbreaking all at once, I enjoyed watching both of their lives change from opening themselves up to love. Lolli’s life was full of tragedy but when she opened her heart, she found what she needed all along. I hope to see more books centered around these characters! Interested to find out more about Parker and Mia’s story.

I really enjoyed this y/a story between Nathaniel and Kalani. After Everything Kalani has been through in her short life, she has the right to be a little withdrawn and afraid to let others in. Then along come the hot football stud that wants to break down her walls. Lots of heat and one liners to make you smile in this book. If your a little older like me, it will remind you of some of the things you did in high school ( except all the sex) ??

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the roll reversal and that Nate had to do most of the chasing because Kalani was too oblivious to him. She played everything close to the vest. I found it frustrating at times but I get where she is coming from.

It is by far and away one of the best debut novels that I've ever read. I loved every single thing about this book and didn't want it to end!!! I am speechless in the best way possible and I don't know how I will be able to read anything else after this. It was just brilliant and EVERYTHING!! Do yourself a favor and pick up this book! You won't regret it.

Lost and lonely girl, starting senior year as a new student. Quarter back, arrogant player that loves to play the field. Of course they meet almost immediately but once they meet it is game on. But the story is nothing cliche. She has some baggage that I never saw coming and when she decides to let him in well, let’s just say that a huge turning point. The player may not be such a player after all. This story had themes of healing and forgiveness but also growing and maturing at an age earlier than most. It was a beautiful love grown of trust and maturity.

Fumbled Hearts is absolutely amazing. Kalani has had every crappy thing happen to her; losing her grandpa and parents on the same night which happens to be her birthday. She decides then she doesn't need anyone. Nate is the town super star who never dips in anything twice until Kalani. This absolutely amazing story of finally being loved like she deserved once she gets pass her hard headed self. This book deserves 10 enormous stars.

This was so good, I really enjoyed it it. Granted all of the characters feel older than teenagers and I certainly don't remember being that grown when I was 17-18 but it fits with these guys. It works. This was very well written! 10/10 would read again, and I'm super excited for book two.

This book was absolutely enthralling! I could not put it down once I stated reading.... literally! Just sirens 8 hours finishing it because I just couldn't stop turning the page. I loved the characters and how each one had their own little secret stories that will (hopefully??) become other graft books. Great book for young but consuming love with a happily ever after?

A love story about high schoolers pretending to be adults. But they are the kind of adults you don’t want to be friends with. There is really no substance to them.

I am terrified for our future if this is now considered to be typical high school behavior.

I didn’t enjoy the book. I definitely did not like Kalani. Skip this one.

New to me author and loved this debut book! Filled with sexy alphaness, swooning and angst. Loved the chemistry, character development as well as the supporting cast. Can’t wait to read Defenseless Hearts.

At first I was very skeptical about this book but boy did I LOVE being wrong. I forget sometimes that just because it’s not highly rated DOES NOT mean that it isn’t a good book and was this a page turner I loved that the characters had such strong personalities. I love the girls in my book to have some bite and not your women who so willingly follow the man around. Love this book and hope for another from this author :)

I completely loved this story! I've reread it about 5 times now. Kalani is exactly the type of female character I love. She is strong and confident and lives life the way she sees fit. I wish more stories were written for females like this. Nate was fantastic as well as soon as he left his playboy ways behind, and Parker was just so lovable! Highly recommend the read.
