Teen love on the run, with complications of supernatural force trying to stop them. Lucas and Bianca are on the run, but hiding in the enemy camp ?!? danger is only a blast away when the gang from Evernight finds them. It is only a matter of time before Briana's true nature is found out. The young couple fight to stay alive. Running from the past and from her future. The Wraiths are getting stronger and she is getting weaker. Several great twists in this, again the author surprised me ! I can't wait for the next one, this is a great story.

Hourglass is the best yet in Claudia Gray's Evernight series. In Stargazer, we left Bianca and Lucas with Black Cross, under lockdown, and on the alert for an attack by Mrs. Bethany and her growing clan of vampires. In Hourglass, Bianca and Lucas are still stuck with Black Cross, with time slowing running out as they hope to plan their escape. As time moves forward, Bianca's situation becomes more desperate as her need for blood grows stronger and others grow suspicious about her past. After escaping from Black Cross, Bianca and Lucas go into hiding, looking forward to finally having their "happy-ever-after"-but it couldn't be that easy, right? A host of old friends and enemies return, and complications make their situation even more dire as the two star-crossed lovers fight for their lives and fight to remain together.
Hourglass is intensely fast-paced and extremely suspenseful. Bianca and Lucas continue to grow as characters, and Lucas shows a great deal of depth and emotion in this novel. I couldn't put this down once I picked it up! The whole book makes you feel as if you are racing towards an awesome, yet terrifying conclusion. But yet, there is one more novel in this series (Afterlife), and I am not looking forward to waiting for that!
Hourglass is a much more adult novel, darker than the previous two in the series. Fans of the series will love the things we continue to discover about all of our favorite characters, yet they'll be shocked by the betrayals, unexpected discoveries, and the quick conclusion.

I absolutely love this series. The author does an amazing job of creating charactures that you can't help but love. Unlike the previous books, this one is darker, but it's absolutely thrilling. When reading this book, I actually felt like I was in hiding; I felt the terror of almost being caught. It's just an amazing, thrilling, deep novel that left me desperate for the next one. To the author all I have to say is "PLEASE -- WRITE WOMAN WRITE!!" Oh, and a big "thank you for writing a book that I absolutely loved reading from cover to cover."

Hourglass is the third book in Claudia Gray's Evernight series, and I highly recommend reading it if you have read the first two books. Those following the series will be quite pleased with the third installment. The emotional conflicts in Hourglass are intense and thrilling to read. And readers will be just as eager as Bianca is to discover more about who and what Bianca really is and what her fate might be. Not sure how many books Gray has planned for this series, but it really felt like things came to a head in this one; the story had great momentum, and the ending will leave readers totally pining for book 4. Great romance. Great action and emotion. Awesome to reconnect with these characters. A very enjoyable read.

Prior to reading Hourglass I was about as excited to admit to enjoying this series to my book loving friends as I am to confess to my musician friends that I downloaded a Taylor Swift album. Such is the nature of guilty pleasures. But now that I have read, and really really enjoyed "Hourglass", some of the stink attached to this series has worn off.
"Hourglass" immediately begins where "Stargazer" left off. Bianca and Lucas are trapped into hiding out with Black Cross, the vampire hunter cult, until Lucas can save up enough money on the side for them to take off on their own. However, like sand through an hourgalss, time is slowly, but steadily streaming past, stacking up against them. When Bianca's secret is revealed, Bianca and Lucas must make a quick getaway. But it isn't just the Vampires and Vampire Hunters that Bianca and Lucas must flee. Bianca is sick. She grows dizzier and weaker by the day and it becomes all to apparent that the biggest threat for Bianca is one she never thought to expect, the threat of death itself.
"Hourglass" is certainly the best in series. While Bianca is still a daft, Mary Sue, I gave up all pretense of enjoying this series for her sake a long time ago, book one in fact. Lucas is the true jewel of this series, and this book is chalk full of him. He just gets better and better with each installment. He even made my stomach flip and a tear or two fall. Seeing as I have been entrusted with and ARC, I don't want to give any plot spoilers, but I do like to give back when I can so to those of you counting down the days until this books release, I'll give you one little tidbit...Bianca and Lucas do it, many times in fact and the scenes are rather well done. Enjoy!

This is a fantastic third installment of the Evernight Series. It ends on a major cliffhanger, but that doesn't bother me. That just ensures me that another great story about Bianca and Lucas will be on the way! Looking foward to the fourth installment. One thing, I wouldn't allow my 15 year old to read this. To me, when Bianca "feeds" off of rodents, I thought it was a bit graphic. But other then that, great series!

I loved Hourglass. There were so many fabulous twists and turns, sadness and happiness and I wanted more and more. I am very thankful that the fourth book will be available to me very shortly because I am just itching to see what happens.
As an aside, I think Vic is an awesome character. When I think of him I see "fabio" from the last season of Survivor in my head :)

I was so excited to read the third installment in this series but it just didnt live up to its potential. It started off well but in the middle it kind of dragged where not much was going on. The ending was what made me dislike it so much. I just dont see how Bianca and Lucas are going to overcome this hurdle. The ending left you feeling somewhat confused. I wont spoil it for anybody but i probably will wait to buy the 4th one in paperback.

how sad. nothing original. besides, HALF VAMPIRE? your either alive or dead baby. also, you know how bink's parents were vampires but had her from the life of a wraith? well they are dead too. and how can she turn into a vampire just by killing? no originality or imagination.....how sad....however, it was well written....

In the 3rd book of Claudia Gray's series, Bianca and Lucas find themselves along with a human friend part of the secret Black Cross (deadly and ruthless vampire hunter). Even as Bianca 'trains' to kill the evil vampires she tries desperately to hide her vampire nature from the Black Cross members. And the stakes get higher as her vampire half takes over and her cravings for blood increase. Desperate, Lucas knows it is only a matter of time before they are caught and struggles to find a way for them both to escape. But when his hidden stash of money is discovered and taken they begin to despair. To add to their troubles the wraiths continue to haunt Bianca and they are taking on a more forceful approach. And to make matters even worse they find Balthazar, a good vampire friend of Bianca's has been captured and is being tortured by the Black Cross. How can they save him and themselves, too? While Bianca becomes progressively and mysteriously weaker and the pact her parents made with the wraiths looms over Bianca's future, tension builds to near claustrophobic levels. Can their relationship survive, will they?
This was an amazing read that you will not forget. Betrayal, death and heartache make for a fast paced and exciting read. As mentioned earlier, I have no idea how the author will continue her next book. There were a couple of big shocks that I never saw coming that were not resolved. I am still not sure how I feel about what eventually happens to Bianca, except to say it was tore at my heart. This story became even more emotional as the stakes for a life together elude Lucas and Bianca seem insurmountable The wall between them keeps getting higher and higher as circumstances are determined to keep them apart. They are the contemporary paranormal equivalent to Romeo and Juliet. Their love for each other is wonderful to read and it makes their short moments together all that more poignant and heartfelt. I loved this book even as I ground my teeth in frustration when I read the surprisingly and intense ending. The only reason I didn't rate it a full 5 stars is because of the cliffhanger ending. Another year to wonder what will happen to a couple a care so much about. Argh!
