You Can't Make Me (But I Can Be Persuaded) - Revised and Updated Edition

I learned so much about myself and other people from this book. It gave great insight to SWCs without adding judgment. I felt like the book was written with so much love. I also bought the audiobook and I love to listen to the narrator read; her voice was pleasant. If you have a child that you feel does not listen then read this book, and then loan it to someone. I am giving it out for Christmas.

Wonderful book! I listened to the audio book and wanted to take notes on actions I could take. There were so many great ideas that I found myself pausing the book often to take notes! Thank you, Cynthia!

I love this book! The strategies for fostering accountability, trust and respect in your SWC really work. It also gives great perspective into how they think, question and push boundaries. How wonderful to know that your child isn't "a hopeless case" but they are a force that needs direction. Learn like I did what questions to ask and how to determine what battles to engage in and gain a little more peace of mind by learning how to communicate with your SWC and show your support and love for them. This book covers from the toddler years into adulthood.

Have recommended this to many parents that deal with just such issues in their home. I have used it in my work and it has given me a new way of communicating that takes the struggle out of communication or at the least decreases it. The author invited to be contacted and I did and she responded quickly to additional questions.

The book is helpful and I plan to incorporate the suggestions in my life with a strong willed teen...but also in the school where I work. Just learning to let them have options, and what NOT to say is a big help.

This author gives some good methods to use in dealing with the strong willed child. Reader should beware that strong willed children are intelligent and figure out your methods.. Then you have to try something else for a while.

This is a wonderfully insightful look into the mind of a strong-willed child. I wish I could have read it years ago when I was raising my own precious strong-willed child. It has changed the way I will interact with these special children who come through my classroom.

I found the book good and interesting, however wasn't necessarily what I was looking for. The author does a great job and its an easy read, I took away that I was the strong willed child not my son, and it was me wanting my way. I learned to back off a little and give him choices.

Very enlighten. We knew there was something different but didn't know what to do. This book gave us insite and with understanding things are going much better. We are grandparents of the strong willed child and had never dealt with one.

This is a quick read which has some valuable information and tips. I'm working on employing them now. However, I was hoping there would be more to it, as some information provided just made good common sense; the news wasn't new to me. The author brings God and religion theme into this book as well. While it didn't bother me, it did seem a little out of place in a parenting book where we are looking for methods and some readers might be put-off with the religious undertones of some of her methods. But I would recommend this book for someone who doesn't have a ton of time and is looking for a few quick and useful tips.
