I am always impressed when a writer develops secondary characters well enough that their presence in the fabric of the story becomes critical. Their absence would leave holes and questions would remain unanswered.

The sins of the father, in this case leading to his incarceration, impacts the life of Octavia. Her mother is in denial, her sister is not consistently mothered... Her high school boyfriend dumps her. Her adult life is just about keeping her head above water and keeping her sister safe and fed. A decade is a long time but she has yet to find the security she thought hard work and determination would lead to.

Dominic, was the high school boyfriend. The cad who breaks things off with her or else he be tainted by the scandal and her lose of social standing. Money is a mistress, sweeter than Octavia; or so he makes himself believe.

As Octavia learns, in her 20s, financial freedom is not coming her way through hard work. She is determined to have enough money to assure her sister a college education, food while her sister is still living with their mother and make sure that she, herself, has enough for life's necessities. Needs over wants and there seem to be so many needs in life.

A whisper in her ear by her best friend, a fellow student from high school, and she is reminded that her friend's upward financial climb has brought her more and more riches while Octavia is scrutinizing every penny. That whisper become louder when she hears that her success is from hard work with a little help from some friends. Some wealthy, male friends.

Octavia only considers joining her friend as a sugar baby because of her sister, because of their self destructive and delusional mother and the broken path paved by her incarcerated father. He took away so much from her sister and opportunities that she had, like private school, were never an option. Could Octavia leave behind her belief in happily ever after, for the affections of a man or men of wealth? Would she use her body to bring financial security for herself and her sister?

Her very first foray out as a Sugar Baby and her date rakes her right to Dominic.
10 years ago Dominic moved on when she was no longer financially stable. Now he is demanding that if she is shopping for a Sugar Daddy, she choose only him.

If you enjoy strong female characters, Octavia is one to follow. She loves fiercely and takes care of those she loves, even if that means going against her independent principals. She has this small important group that depends on her and she is determined to do well by them.

Money is the power. Octavia knows that. Money is the glue and if that glue no longer has a tight adhesion then does everything and everyone connected to Octavia suffer again?

I was presently surprised by this book. I loved Tavvie and Dominic. I liked the secondary characters like all of the pets and Tavvie's sister Emory. this book had me interested from the first page and I could not put the book down and read it in one day. I loved the cats that Tavvie had to keep rescuing. This is a book that I would read again.

Just looking at the cover gets you going! This is a book about love and betrayal and being able to move on from that! It's also a book about sacrifice and family, however dysfunctional! While the book is a good read, I did feel like it was too short and I wanted more details but that could be just me!

It makes your heart feel for the pain of having the deal with unappreciative parent/s and how the challenges that they faced made them such strong characters.

The story line hooks you from the very beginning and keeps you interested throughout the entire book.

Natasha LeCroix hits it out of the park with this sugar daddy/sugar baby romance! This is the first time I've read a book with this subject and I really liked this second-chance romance. I hope to see more from Natasha LeCroix!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. That said, I did really enjoy the 2nd chance plot. It was surprisingly very light on the sex scenes given the nature of the "sugar baby" story - more time was spent on family dynamics. I would definitely read another book by Natasha.

Life is challenging enough for teens without having to witness a parent on trial. Octavia Walker has had a privileged but uneventful life up until the end of her junior year of high school. That's when her "normal" life turned into chaos. Her hopes of college vanish along with her lifestyle. With dad in prison, mom manages to go through what little money they have left and suddenly Octavia, or "Tavvie" as her boyfriend Dominic refers to her, becomes the designated head of the household. Ten years later, Tavvie is owner of Lovapet. She takes care of pets when owners go on vacation or when they need her to look in on their pets. It does not pay well, but she loves her job.

In addition to caring for other people's pets, she is also "self designated" parent and financial provider to her younger sister Emery who is just about to graduate from high school. Mom spends her time whining and hitting bars in hopes of finding Mr. Rich but the years have not been kind and her marketing days are behind her...and her drinking does not enhance her chances for finding Mr. Right Now.

It's bad, really bad and Tavvie needs to get Emery out the her mother's place ASAP. In an effort to provide for sister and get her away from mom, Tavvie signs up to become a "sugar baby" after learning how her BFF, Sasha got the money to open her restaurant. That one decision puts Tavvie an an entirely different path and suddenly everything she has been denied makes a reappearance.

This is an unexpected story that will fill you heart with love and hope. The author had done an excellent job providing the reader with great characters that will keep you laughing, smiling, a tiny bit tearful, and very grateful...not necessarily in that order! After a slow start, the story revs into gear and will keep the reader engaged till the very end.

As a recipient of a reader copy of this book, I am pleased to provide my honest review of this book. It was a heart-warming story and I am looking forward to reading more stories from this author.

A wonderful story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Great characters that really shine and stick with you. Especially Octavia, she is spectacular. She goes through so many struggles with and for her family and she perseveres by doing whatever she must. This is a wonderful boo you don't want to miss.

It starts with how the main character was once one of the rich girls and how because of her father was sentenced in prison the family has lost their reputation and prestige and now she owns her own pet business. It brings two people back together that have previously had a relationship and how it sparks their past interest back to life. Its romantic and has a great story to it.

Heart wrenching book! Surprisingly humbling!
Female lead isn't the typical damsel. She hasn't had the easiet life and she's trying very hard to continue on not only for herself but also for her younger sister that is under her care. In the midst of her hectic life she is given a chance at love and he's filthy rich.

Fairy tale come true story.
I love how they Dominic and Octavia were together in high school but went on with their lives. They had to go thru trials to get back to each other. I like he rescues Tav and how she let's him treat her like a princess. They really balance each other out. Love how in the end he did what he felt in his heart and not what his dad wanted to do.
