What a wonderful Novella! I have only read one other book in this series, but it did not take away from this story at all. I loved this novella. It was heart-warming and just what I needed to get me through the day. I love the overall theme of this book.
I loved that this story has friends who are starting to realize that maybe there is a bit more. I think we all have had at least one friend in our lives that we thought could have been something more, but never acted on it. I think this story feeds into that desire to wonder if it would have worked out. I liked the way this story explored this topic.
The characters are written wonderfully. Maggie has just gotten out of a long term relationship and is trying to cope. She has a lot of thinking to do to get herself in the right frame of mind. Then you have Sam. Oh good old Sam. He is what you would expect from a best friend. He is amazing and kind and caring. I think that he was the perfect character for this book. He has his own self-discovery to go through though. He needs to find out what he really wants out of life.
The heat in this book is amazing. It melted the slopes they were on! I think when most people think of heat they think of Sex. Not me. When I think of heat, I think of that chemistry between characters. That tension that leaves you feeling flushed. These characters have that. They have been close for so long that once they are both single at the same time, this tension rises. It leads to some very pleasing scenes.
I liked the writing style in this novella. This novella was the perfect little cup of tea I needed. There wasn’t too much going on and the story felt complete. The pace was steady as well. I liked the minor characters also. I cannot wait to go back and read the books I missed in this series.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novella. It was written wonderfully. I loved the characters and the overall theme. I also loved that the author didn’t just throw these two into bed together, despite the title. Instead she allowed them to have a slow burn, which is much more gratifying to readers.

The Bed Mate was totally a swoon-worthy short fairytale story.
I couldn't get enough of Sam and Maggie, two best friends that knew each other from inside out, back and forth and all around. They were un-separable. They just fit perfectly together but neither one knew it, or at least Maggie didn't until her douche boyfriend does her a favor and cheats on her. When Sam finds out what happened to Maggie, he convinces her to join him and his buddies on their Aspen trip. She spends the whole vacation with Sam and it shouldn't feel different since they're always hanging out, but for some reason Maggie is starting to see Sam in a different light but she doesn't know how Sam feels about her.
Will revealing her feelings to Sam ruin their friendship and vice versa? Sam has harbored feelings for Maggie ever since he first met her but she had already started dating douche-magoo so Sam knew he didn't stand a chance and he settled with being just her friend.
But sparks fly and a kiss happens on New Year's Eve, but will that kiss change for the best or worst for them?
GAHHHH! This book had all the feels, and even though it was short, it was magnificent. It didn't need anymore than what it had, it was just PERFECT!
Sam and Maggie were PERFECT!
Kendall Ryan never disappoints with her books and each and everyone that I've read from this author has been on my top read. I am always looking forward to her next read and she always leaves me feeling all kinds of ways (great!) with her books.

This was my first 1001 Dark Nights novellas and I’m so happy it was from Kendall Ryan! I just adore her writing and the characters she give us. This one, The Bed Mate, did not disappoint me! It’s a fabulous story of friendship evolving into love. Falling in love with your best friend has to be terrifying… should you chance ruining a friendship? Should you chance finding a relationship that is completely perfection? I kind of wish this was a full length novel, not that is was missing or rushed, but I wanted more from them!
Sam and Maggie were fantastic characters. They both have had a hard time with relationships. Sam just has trouble after trouble with the opposite sex. Maggie’s going through a recent bad break up. They’ve always been able to count on one another. They’ve always been there for each other. Should they risk it all?
This was a wonderful friends to lovers story! It totally pulled me and kept me consumed! For a novella, I can’t believe how much tension and angst I felt reading it! I felt my heart stutter. I laughed and teared up with them. I’ve loved the Roommates series! All the characters have been so relatable! Perfect story Ryan!

I have been loving the Roommates series by Kendall Ryan! The Bed Mate was a great Novella that is part of the 1001 Dark Night series. I love how close Maggie and Sam have been through their friendship. As best friends, they have the best easy going relationship together. You know when you have that person you can be your total self with. That is who these two are for each other. Then Maggie is at ends and Sam has her go out for a little R&R with the guys. Sam thinks that it may have been a bad idea, when in fact it could be the best mistake ever!
The Bed Mate made me swoon and smile all the way through. There was a little of drama, but with Maggie and Sam you can not expect any less. The Bed Mate will make you excited to see what is on the next page. The "finally" sexy scenes creates a huge spark that you Kindle may burn to the ground! I love this Novella as it fits perfectly in the Roommates world <3

The Bed Mate is a standalone novella in the Roommates series. This is my favorite of the series by far! I'm a huge fan of Kendall Ryan. Her writing is fresh and fun and her characters are always great. This is the perfect friends to lovers story. Maggie and Sam have been friends for eight years. They've never crossed the line into more than friends. But when New Year's Eve finds them both single and alone in a hotel room, Sam is finally going to make his move. Will Sam be able to show Maggie they are meant to be together? Will Maggie finally realize what's been in front of her the whole time? I loved this story. It's short, sexy and sweet! Sam and Maggie are so funny and perfect together. Overall, this is my favorite couple of the series. I laughed and teared up! Wouldn't mind seeing more of Sam and Maggie!
"What do you want, Maggie?
"You, Same. Always you."

What a delightful quick and sexy read The Bed Mate is. I loved Sam and Maggie together and how they never really gave voice to their feelings towards each other until a New Year's weekend that didn't go the way one of them planned.
Our H/h were funny together, understood each other and loved taking care of each other, even if they didn't think that's what they were doing. Ms. Ryan made this a slow-burn novella which just built my anticipation up as they got closer and closer to taking that natural step in their friendship.
When I turned the last page, I had a huge grin on my face and my heart was happy because I needed this book to lighten my life right now and I can always count on Ms. Ryan to deliver exactly what I need.

Kendall Ryan can always be relied on to deliver a great romance, and The Bed Mate is a quick and sexy friends-to-lovers romance that shouldn’t be missed. Sam and Maggie are best friends who have a sweet and supportive relationship. When Maggie breaks up with her longterm boyfriend, things suddenly shift between the two and nothing will ever be the same, especially when they find themselves sharing a room in the snowy mountains ringing in the New Year. The Bed Mate is sweet and steamy with dashes of holiday cheer, and it is an assured feel-good experience. I am sad this is the end of Ryan's Room Mate series but can't wait to see what she writes next.

This was a quick, heartwarming friends to lovers romance. Maggie and Sam have been best friends since grade school. They are always there for each other, in good times and bad. They now find themselves single at the same time and that their feelings are so much more than friendly. Will they make a move and risk losing their best friend? This is a sweet, sexy and heartwarming romance. I really enjoyed narrators Jeremy York and Eva Erickson. They added so much personality to this story making Maggie and Sam come alive, making this a wonderful sweet and steamy romance!

Short, sweet, and to the point - this novella from Kendall Ryan hits all the right notes.
If you don't have the time to get into a full length novel - or if you've never read Kendall Ryan before - this is the perfect bite-sized morsel of goodness to take on.
Sam and Maggie were great together. You could really see their friendship shining through the pages. They're perfect for each other, even if they are the only two people who haven't realized it yet. Sam checks all the boxes for sexy book boyfriend and Maggie is great.
This is a great, quick story to help pass the time. I'd definitely recommend it.

Cute, sweet quick read. The Bed Mate was just what I needed. Something light with incredible characters who belong together. Sam has been in love with Maggie since he first met her. She's been in a relationship so he's tagged the best friend. Now she's single and it's finally his turn for a happily ever after.
Great book, I've loved this whole series and this was a great addition. I do wish it would've been a full length book, I just wasn't ready to let them go yet.

I love a little friends to lovers read & when it’s coming from Kendall Ryan even better.
The road with Sam & Maggie was short but with enough of a build to bring some angst (which I love) fun & lust.
with their friendship going back to their college days they know a lot about each other....
will they be able to give in & ride the friends to lovers happy ever after?
