Falling Under: a standalone Walker Security novel

2018has brought so much excitement when it comes to books for me. Among the authors i've read so far and even in the past, Lisa Renee Jones is just that author that keeps delivering each and every time that she publishes a book. She's become one of the very few authors that i'll automatically one click to get my hands on her books, sight unseen. No matter how many books she writes, or series she creates, they're all different from one another, and at the same time, if you look deep enough, there's a link between each of them somehow.

With her latest release, Falling Under, brings us right back to Jacob, whom we've seen a few times so far, but the quiet, hulking (and stalkerish according to Jewel) man was always such a mystery. I loved getting to know him. To finally get to know what's in his mind. To get to meet his demons and compare them to the others and maybe to a few of my own. Most of all, i loved getting back to the Walker Security and the family that keeps growing. Every time that i get a new story, it's the kind that drags me down and makes me pay attention.

One thing is for sure, i look forward to finding out what else this author has in store for her readers and i'm curious to find out if we get to have the rest of the Walker crew's stories as well!

FALLING UNDER is book three in the Walker Security series and is a murder mystery romance. This series is a spin-off from the Tall, Dark and Deadly books so the Walker brothers do play a part in the story, though this is also a standalone and can be read without having read the others.

Jacob is a former green beret, one of the best at what he does. Jewel is a newly inducted police detective and also really great at her job. But when she starts getting threatening "love notes", her father forces Jacob and Walker Security on her.

One thing that I've found to be true of Lisa Renee Jones' books is that her characters are so SMART! Watching Jacob and Jewel interact with each other was like watching an intense game of tennis. My head was spinning with every lob of words they flung! But here's the thing...every time these two enigmatic characters came together, I could FEEL the passion, the angst, the fear, the love, the push and pull. WOW! Jewel and Jacob were both true warriors. Have you heard the saying, "How the mighty have fallen?" Well, when these two fall...it's absolutely a thing of beauty!

If your looking for a suspenseful book with two powerful characters and a ton of spice, read this one! The twists and turns will take you to places unexpected and leave you anxious for more of this series. Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. An epicly good addition to the Walker Security series, Falling Under is no boring romance. Filled with action from the start I LOVED this suspenseful romance!

Jacob & Walker Security have been tasked with protecting Jewel from a threat they can't figure out/ A mysterious stalker ha been sending threats and now he's leaving gifts right at her doorstep. Right away I loved Jewel's character. She's a bad-ass detective and stands firm in her beliefs to help save others even at the risk of herself. Jacob is just so smokin' hot and the sparks that fly between these two are magnetic! The fighting and the sexual tension is so strong you can feel it seep through the pages in to your mind. That kind of tension and hot action after a fight just leads to to sexy reading!

Amidst the tension there's also a sense of sadness with both Jacob and Jewel. They each have a past marred by death though in different ways. Having them trudge through their emotions on how the other is willing to risk their life was anew twist. The sex and the feelings for one another is undeniable and obvious to them; it's getting over one another's inability to stay behind that they both struggle with. With nonstop mysteries from Jacob's mysterious Green Beret past to Jewel's cold case and current murder case; these two have more than just a strange stalker to figure out.

A straight up mystery and suspense through and through. Jewel and Jacob had a high powered story.

Both Jewel and Jacob were extreme control freaks; which caused lots of friction...resulting in some seriously worded foreplay between them. Their attraction was very intense and Jewel was the one most reluctant to accept it. She’s spent her whole life on a mission of putting the bad guys away and felt doing so alone was the only way to avoid mistakes and get that job done. But having been given no other choice, Jacob is her shadow and the Walker Security Team is now involved, she’s not too keen to open it up for mistakes and mishaps. He trust circle is small and adding this group of people is WAY outside her comfort zone.

Jacob is well equipped to do what is necessary to protect his charge and can do so without being seen. But he’s just as stubborn as Jewel and feels keeping her in is his presence is the only way to ensure her safety and keep her near him. He’s attracted to her beauty, professionalism and the way she manages to maintain control; even when he can tell she’s having a hard time of it.

The two of them were truly made for each other. Their banter was worded, long winded and almost hypnotic. They spoke to each other in away the only the other could truly understand. It was amazing.

Jewel, a police detective, is used to talking care of herself. When her CEO father tells her that he is hiring her a bodyguard due to conflicts with his recent merger, she protests. She feels she doesn’t need protection, but finally gives in because she loves her dad. And then she meets her bodyguard.

Jacob, an ex-Green Beret and current member of Walker Security, never lets himself get close to any one. One of his coworkers gave him the nickname Tin Man. Work is work, and pleasure is pleasure. He never mixes the two. But the more he is around Jewel, he realizes he finally has found someone who understands him- and vice versa. He also realizes Jewel has a stalker, and together they are determined to catch him. This is no ordinary stalker, though. This is a killer, and they race to find him before it is too late.

This is the third book in the Walker Security series, and is my favorite. I have read the other books in the series, but I think this would work well as a stand alone book. The characters from the other books are part of this one as supporting characters, but it works. The Walker clan works together well, and they solve another case (or two) in this book. I would give this book 4.5 stars. It was a good mystery, and Jacob and Jewel have great chemistry.

After reading Pulled Under, I was really looking forward to Jacob’s book and I wasn’t disappointed. As with any Lisa Renee Jones book, the writing is fantastic. Her ability to weave a story and keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the very end blows me away.

Jacob is an ex-Green Beret and the epitome of the strong silent type, or as Jewel calls him, Mr. Robot. When Jewel’s father calls in the help of Walker Security, Jacob is the one tasked with watching her back. Jewel is a NYPD homicide detective and not a happy camper when she learns she’s going to have a shadow following her every move. But to put her father’s mind at ease, she concedes. There is instant chemistry between these two with the constant push and pull and need for control. I enjoyed watching these two come to terms with just “being” with each other and not the constant need to control every little thing.

This is another great story from Lisa Renee Jones and another great addition to the Walker Brothers. My only complaint is I felt the story just ended without any other elaboration and I would have liked to have seen more right there. Did this fact impact my overall enjoyment? Not at all. It’s still a fantastic story and I still highly recommend it.

The Tin Man has found has heart… and she’s full of snark! It would take a tough as nails woman to take on Jacob.

I loved the odd twist of humor between these two. It fits their personalities. Speaking of personalities – theirs are a perfect match and balance. They both need someone who could match them for intelligence, toughness, and on-the-job commitment. It takes that match to be able to understand and accept. The balance comes in the form of Jewel being a woman who has found the balance of tough cop and still feminine at home.

I hope there are many more books to come in this series. The hot, hunky, alpha men of Walker Security are needed!

I thought I am over the whole sexy-I'm-an-alpha-male-and-a-control-freak story line, but when it comes to the Walker security boys, I feed off their intense dark stares and giant physique because holy hell, they are IMPOSSIBLE not to love.

One look at the cover - All hail the King - and I'm done for, leave it up to Lisa to create a thrilling mystery with a feisty heroine and a tall, dark and brooding male lead. I was pulled under Asher and Sierra's spell in book 2, but Jacob King's intense persona coupled with Jewel's stubborn inner detective, they are a concoction waiting to explode. I loved how the author develops the storyline and the romance synchronously, I loved being on a wild goose chase for the killer, I loved how the author crafted the murder plot - always thought thriller writers are criminal masterminds - and most of all, I loved watching two souls bond and fall in love.

Lisa Renee Jones had me falling under her spell once more, and I'd gladly succumb to the mystery of it all.

Another of Lisa Renee Jones' wonderful romantic suspenses, with a twist of the psychological thriller in there for added measure.

This was a slightly shorter read from Jones, and a standalone, so a little different to what I'm accustomed to (her <i>Dirty Money</i> series being the most recent, but she is very much known for her series, layering intrigue). I wasn't disappointed—there was enough detail and complexities to the characters to keep me wanting more, with the usual thick chemistry this time woven into a hate/love / enemies-to-lovers theme. With the perfect balance of sex to action (sometimes a sticking point for me with this author), I found myself invested in the story, pulled in my the mystery and the developing relationship between hard-as-nails detective Jewels and green beret alpha Jacob.

With twists and turns and a supporting cast to please readers who have invested in this series, this read is sure to please fans of Lisa Renee Jones, as well as being light enough on the intrigue to ease new readers in.

A great book to get stuck into on a cold winter's day.

This book is book 3 in the Walker Security series and each book can be read as a stand-alone.

This is the story of Jewel, a detective who keeps everyone at arms-length, and Jacob, and ex green beret who is hired to protect her. There are quite a few things going on in this book. Jewel is trying to put away a murdering CEO while trying to find a stalker who has recently surfaced after first making contact 2 years ago.

So, I had a hard time connecting with the story at first. We start back at Jewel’s uncle’s funeral. Then Jacob and her start of really rough since when she meets him she finds out that he had been following her for days without her knowledge. I enjoyed the suspense aspect of the story and the underlying threat from Jacob’s past. There were some amazing moments, but I just wish I would have felt their connection earlier in the story.

I really liked this book. Jewel was a great character, I loved how snarky, independent and strong she was. I also loved Jacob. We got enough information on their backgrounds to tell us why they are the way they are, and it all for very nicely into the story. It was very will written with very few grammatical and punctuation errors. It's written from both of their POVs.... It alternates. Good plot, the book was very suspenseful and would keep you guessing, but not over the top. I would recommend to anyone who likes a good romance\ suspense plot between two very strong characters.

Jewel Carpenter has a stalker. She is a homicide detective & Jacob King works for Walker Security and is an ex green beret. Jewel’s father (CEO of Carpenter Enterprises) hires Walker Security to help protect his daughter. Of course, there is an attraction between the two & fireworks fly. There was a lot of bickering going back and forth among the 2 of them.

Jacob King is just sooooo ALPHA! He is determined to protect Jewel. Jewel is so used to doing the protecting as well. She fights him every step of the way.

I loved the wild sex in the kitchen and clothes found everywhere. Falling Under is good and what can I say but, Hot!

Falling Under is the 3rd installment in the Walker Security series. This book centers around Jacob who we originally meant in the inside out series. Jacob has always been the quiet but deadly one. Jacob is in charged with protecting detective Jewel Carpenter. Jewel is about to break every one of his rules and vice versa. This is a fast paced action packed read. You definitely won't be disappointed. These characters compliment eachother. One click you won't be disappointed.

Jacob is assigned to protect Jewel, a detective with a stalker. She rapidly becomes more than just a client. This is a suspenseful romance filled with twists and turns—clues and misdirections. It’s interesting and compelling for the most part, but the interaction with the stalker when finally identified and confronted seemed very disingenuous. This type of stalker — a killer with no conscience — would not behave as the author has written it.

That said, the progression of the relationship between Jewel and Jacob is well written, insightful, and authentic to the characters. That redeems the story.

I was really looking forward to reading Falling Under. While I like Jewel, I got a bit annoyed with her. She was so confusing at times but at the still I understand why she’s so guarded. Jacob is incredible. I love how protective he is, whether his required protection is work related or not. I liked the suspense and unpredictability of the plot. It’s engaging and keeps you on your toes wanting to solve the mystery just as badly as Jacob and Jewel do. I also admire how supportive the Walker clan is. They give each other a lot of crap which was highly entertaining but there was no doubting the bond between them. All in all, I really enjoyed this book.

Another great stand-alone in the Walker Security Series...

Jacob aka the TinMan is ex Green Barrett tasked to keep Jewel a Police Detective safe while her fathers company merges.

To say sparks fly would be an understatement, especially when you take two control freak whom prefer to work alone and force them to work together. I loved the push and pull of Jewel and Jacob’s chemistry, as always Lisa drew me in,instantly. Although I had my sneaky suspicions in the beginning as to whom the so called “slayer” was she did keep me guessing as to why.. kudos, and that is why you are on my short list of Favorite authors Lisa Renee Jones.

Yesssssss! <--- my reaction upon finding out that I was diving back into the world that is Walker Security. I loved the ones that came before and should there be more (Dear LRJ, please let there be more) I know I will love them as well.

In Falling Under, we dive into the lives of Jacob and Jewel. Jacob is a member of Walker Security. While Jewel is detective. Together they end up playing a deadly game of cat and mouse with a dangerous killer. As always LRJ kept me intrigued and on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you Lisa Renee Jones for yet another wonderful book.

This is another amazing story from this author. You are always guaranteed stories which are full of romance, mystery and suspense. This story is just so amazing, I was definitely left with a book hang over when I had finished. The characters were amazing, the author mixes two feisty personalities together which has explosive results. You will not want to put this book down, I just couldn't till I'd finished. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Jacob is not one for messing around or beating around the bush, “we had a deal. I’m your one-on-one protection. That means I stay with you. That means I sleep here with you.” I love that Jacob has a bossy attitude, “it was my professional assessment that we should kiss.” The man is just so bossy, “pack a bag,” he repeats. “You’re coming with me. End of conversation.” I loved this book, I fell in love with Jacob, his woman was always getting a rise out of him and it was entertaining to see his reactions

I loved the suspense in this story. I also loved the characters. I enjoyed really seeing Jacob progress and change throughout the story. This was sweet. It was suspenseful. It was emotional and definitely sexy with a connection that really shows the chemistry between the main characters. I enjoyed it and was thoroughly entertained. I am never disappointed by Lisa's writing and I am looking forward to reading more in the series.

Jacob is assigned to watch over Jewel by her father. He is stoic and hard to read and an ex-Green Beret. Jewel is a Detective in homicide and very independent. Both have built walls inside themselves to hide from the rest of the world. As Jacob and Jewel tear down each other's walls, the trouble around her escalates. The passion explodes and the chemistry between them is unbelievable. This is definitely a must read!

What a fantastic suspenseful, mysterious, hot, romantic addition to the Walker Security series! I love all the men and women in the Walker Security family and Jacob and Jewel are no exception. This story is a standalone, but it includes pop ins of previous characters from the Walker men world that appeals to fans of the series. THIS IS A MUST READ!!! The action and espionage in this book was "ride by the end of your seat" good. The love exchange between these two was so hot and STEAMY, you'd almost expect pages to catch fire. Erotic plus successful equals...you want to read this one.

For honest review. Jewels a homicide cop and works on cold cases. But when she's in danger her father hires walker security and the put Jacob n the job . This was a awesome 10 stars story with alpha hot man that will protect and love with all he's got.

Loved the book read it while doing dinner and when I went to bed I read until I felt asleep , just couldn’t put it down . The story drew me in and I loved the characters. I have a need for more. I just ordered the new book Murder Notes and it doesn’t come out for a month. I will need more of her stories while i try to wait for the next one. I don’t believe in ruining the story for others so no busters here. Just know I highly recommend this book you’ll love it too.

We have a dedicated detective and an assassin who works for Walker Security. How does this work? Apparently quite well. There are taunting messages and murders to solve. A good book with a satisfying ending.

Wow, what a great book! I loved reading the story in itself, the romance, the camaraderie of the Walker brothers and friends. There is plenty of action and it almost feels like you are reading a detective or modern day "Mission Impossible" story. Can't wait for the next one.

Holy cow that was good!! Murder, mystery, suspense, humor, fierce heroine, deadly hero and intense chemistry make for a furiously intense page turning read! I can’t get enough of this series and the way LRJ writes mystery!

Lisa Renee Jones continues to impress me with each book I read. Her writing is clear, clean and so finely detailed it makes you want to turn the page and keep reading without stopping until the end. You can't help but like her characters. I immediately liked Jacob King. He's stoic, professional, world-weary, deadly and gorgeous. Jewel is smart, tough, self confessed control freak and inde. Together tbey are oil and water, fire and ice and off the charts hot.

As the mystery plays out, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and sometimes holding your breath. The emotionally charged storyline is suspenseful with "oh, I didn't see that coming" moments.

Jewel is a detective who has a slasher after her. Her father is scared and hires Walker security to protect her. She's adamant she can take care of herself. Jacob is the Walker agent assigned to watch over her. They butt heads in the beginning but find they are much alike in many ways. The sparks between them lead to a relationship neither one can stay away from. Danger, action, intrigue and love make up this excellent story.

Jacob and Jewel have loads of chemistry and are so hot for each other! Their love hate relationship makes you giggle and wish for them to get together at the same time! This book is full of Suspense and I could not put it down! MUST READ!!!

Jewel Carpenter is married to her career as a Detective on a New York City police force. She's spent the last two years determined to not only be as great as her Uncle was, but also to solve the many cold cases that he left behind. When her CEO father brings in the Walker Security team, she thinks its a bit much, but the ominous letters that target her and the odd gifts left at her apartment finally make her accept the company of none other than Jacob King. The former Green Beret turned security is as handsome as he is big, consuming her thoughts and all her space. They bicker as much as they flirt, lusting after one another as protection turns into feelings and feelings bring them even more danger. Jewel wants to solve her media-crazed case and find her stalker, Jacob wants to protect her during it all. As the threats get darker, they find themselves threatened by both a crazed man and by their desire for something more.

"She's right. I feel it. Trouble is coming and it's not gentle. It's fierce. It's angry. It's deadly. And it's definitely two steps ahead of us."

I wasn't sure what to expect from Falling Under, it's definitely the usual fare from Lisa Renee Jones, but also a bit different with our heroine, Jewel, being a hard-headed detective. She is all serious all the time, with her career the focus of her life. It turns this book into a more detective-mystery novel than a suspenseful romance. We spend much of the novel learning about Jewel's current case, about the unsolved cases of her now-deceased friends and family, and about her drive to know Jacob and the cold case he refuses to let her know about. While it has a lot of LRJ's hot and smutty scenes, it's less romantic than I think I'm used to. I did appreciate that we spent less time running in Falling Under and more time facing every single situation head on. Jacob King didn't have as many chapters in his POV, but like the book suggests of him, he did manage to take up much of my thoughts while I read. He's the most complex of the characters, less open book and the one holding his past behind closed doors. I felt like he had a lot of character development and definitely changed the most in the novel, finding a way to become a part of a we rather than just an I.

Falling Under is a standalone Walker Security novel and another opportunity for readers who love LRJ's characters to see them all interacting together. I loved getting a fresh story about one of the men, but I really enjoyed seeing how the others were doing and their women too. I was less caught up in the romance than I have been in the past though, I just didn't feel the chemistry between Jacob and Jewel. For me, it felt like time was of the essence and it seemed like a good fit, there was no bonding when things were a little calmer. I loved how it ended, how it all worked out in the end, but I would've loved the lengthy novel to have given me more feelings for these two.

Falling Under is an action-packed, suspenseful standalone in the Walker Security series. It's impossible to be bored when reading a Lisa Renee Jones novel, especially when it involves the men of Walker Security. If you like your novels sexy and fast paced, pick this one up, for sure!

I love this series. What an explosive addition. In previous stories Jacob is silent and deadly. In his story, you see he slowly comes out of his shell, but only for Jewel.The suspense is great, it starts on the first page and it does not end right til the last page. The interaction of the Walker "family" is spot on and makes you want to be part of it. There are secrets, strength, regret, loyalty, determination and it shows in Jacob's and Jewel's actions towards others and especially each other. The sex scenes are hot, hot, hot.

Ms. Jones is always one of my "go to" author's and she does not disappoint.

It was fast paced, hot as heck, and had me peeking around corners to find answers to questions that just kept coming.

Jacob is alpha sex on legs, and he does have a heart under all that armor. Jewel is an independent heroine that gives him a run for his money.

Well written and so enthralling... I could not put it down!

Falling Under is book 3 in The Walker Security series, but it can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading all three because they are all great!

Jacob and Jewel's story did not disappoint. The chemistry between the two is intense from the very first meeting! There is a power struggle between the two! Falling Under is full of twists and turns that I never saw coming. This is a great read and I could not put it down.

Ms. Jones’s Walker Security series will get adrenaline flowing even while quietly sitting, reading her books. This installment is no exception. She is a wily mistress of unexpected twists, turns, and sub-plots.

Great read!! Suspenseful, edge of your seat read that will have you sucked in from the go. I enjoyed this roller coaster of a read and the banter that was mixed in, oh and the heat! Totally enjoyed it!
