Good character development. Interesting story line, and technically detailed, without going so far as to lose reader’s interest. Hard to put down, and moves at a good pace without too much extraneous detail.

Dominic Holland is the leader of the Hunters, a private covert ops organization contracted out by the CIA to combat biological and chemical warfare. Meredith Webb is Dom's contact with the CIA, responsible with supplying work for his organization. Her latest job for them is short on details, but could potentially point the finger at the US for secretly working on a biological agent. Little does she know they are all too late. Before he knows it, Dom and his team is thrust headlong into the worst possible biological scenario, a possible extinction level event.

What a great addition to the genre! Anthony grabs your attention from the very beginning and doesn't let go. He uses realistic science and technology to create a terrifying end of the world scenario. This is a great thrill ride and leaves you wanting more, his second installment in this series can't come soon enough!

Very well done and refreshing read compared to all the zombie style apocalyptic books this is one of the best. You instantly become attached to these characters and the struggle they face. Some characters do seem to be predictable canon fodder. I'm a big fan of the character Miguel. Lots of real tension and suspense. The action is fun and the book really does sink it's claws into you until you finish wanting more.

I was very underwhelmed by this book. For one, the author seems to have limited knowledge on military culture, operation & tactical deployment. Based on the story, essentially, Dom is a mercenary. His people are also mercenaries. Mercenaries are usually ex-military operators a little too past their prime for service, and so are now cashing in on their training to get at the serious money, not these young, selfless super patriots as depicted. Also, its sort of a disservice to the reader, as well as the military, to have former Special Forces depicted in such a brain-dead manner. If this was even remotely a real life scenario, real Special Forces operators would have a field day killing these "Skulls", and would do so quite easily. In ever engagement, Dom & Co. essentially go in with a back-of-a-napkin tactical plan and start shooting it out. Real SF guys wouldn't even remotely do something like that. Why risk it when you're enemy has such a single-minded MO that you can use it against them? It's called tactics. They would just "Pied Piper" these things to maneuver them into whatever disposal scenario they found expedient (drowning them in the ocean, leading them into a quarry like lemmings, etc.) at will. Of course that doesn't serve his story very well, but it is still closer to a real-life reaction from trained professionals. The simplistic way in which the author was writing really gave me the sense that I has stumbled into a youth title, that is, until I ran across the profanity, which told me I was wrong. I had no problem with the profanity myself, just that I was hoping, for the author's sake, that he was writing a youth title, because to me this is not a smart, engaging effort. How many times will anyone, especially military types, say "Oni Agent", before they start simplifying it and ascribe a nickname? Character development definitely suffered from things like that, aside from the overall pedantic storytelling & plot. I hope I'm not coming across too harshly, because I know its hard to create, but a little more work and forethought on the backend could have really made this one a lot more compelling.

I had the unique pleasure of listening to the Audible and reading 'The Tide'. I was given the Audible version in exchange for an honest review after pre-ordering and waiting anxiously for the novel.

For the first Audible book I've listened (or "read") the entirety, it certainly provided some intense and fantastically thrilling moments, as did reading. Part of me enjoyed reading the novel more, since there is a great number of supporting characters and as an audio book rookie, I found it difficult to keep track of them just by listening. However, plenty of those supporting characters are given unique, individualized characteristics to differentiate themselves from the pack, which is greatly appreciated. It also helped the reader provided alternating voices, though in my rookie mind they sounded different on page.

There are several delightfully creative and unique circumstances. For example, a great deal of action occurs on buses. A pleasant, but highly suspenseful, horrifying, and extremely close-quarters grappling for life. The inclusion of a specialized team for hire, specifically the Hunters, to not only fight the biological threat but with the resources to scientifically examine it, was also a pleasant change from many novels in this genre.

Where it faltered was in a predictable death and a governmental failure (i.e., a corrupt official) that led to the spread. However, even these two "problems" can be overlooked when seen how it spreads. Very imaginative and horrifying. Also, that this particular disaster did not originate with our government was also creative. I can only hope we'll see more of this in the sequel.

For those sensitive to such things, there is language.

'The Tide' ends too soon, with multiple characters' fates left in question. I, for one, now anxiously await the sequel. Hope you will, too.

A thought-provoking novel and yet a possible precursor to what could potentially happen in a world where the government does things without considering all the potential effects it may cause in the world. All in all a very good book full of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. At times things became a little too predictable and our heroes escaped overwhelming odds a little too easily. Wyatt no one thought of using high caliber or armor piercing rounds struck me as a little odd. Still I'm looking forward to book two and the continuation of story. I hope the story goes on for awhile and doesn't wrap up too easily. Miracle cures don't always happen overnight and too many books in this genre wrap things up leaving you wanting more and feeling cheated when you get to the conclusion of the series.

This book really reads well the farther in you go. I was skeptical with the first few chapters believing it was just like every other horror supsense book I've read. The character development was moderate but that is to be expected with a series book. Can't wait to read the next one and keep "going deeper into the rabbit hole".

Another thriller based on a biological-weapon-come-zombie-maker theme. The action comes at a brisk pace, but the characters are two dimensional and this is the first episode of who-knows how many. The ending is intentionally left open--not a ploy I'm fond of. However, if you enjoy this type of novel, give THE TIDE a try.

Very exciting book. I never found myself rushing through a chapter trying to get past a monotonous section. Even though it played with the emotions I appreciated the author not being afraid to let characters meet their end or including all ages and genders in his plot.
