OMG, Tannarive Due's short story "The Lake" is great. Spooked the heck out of me, but I enjoyed it. Read it on my Kindle. It's one story from her collection The Monster's Corner coming out in the fall. The collection will have 20 stories. Won't forget The Lake. Boy, T. Due owns a great imagination.

Creepy,could easily be expanded into a novel. I liked this story, but it would be fun to know for sure if it was one of both boys that she finished and who came next to work on the house & got to go "swimming".

Would have given this another star if the writer had explained more about why people shouldn't swim in the lake, and given tge reader more of a backstory on what happened. It was vague plus it was not terrifying but rather anticlimatic. I would pick up another one of this writer's books but I prefer reading an entire book not a short story.
