Great read, gripping and very different to my usual style of book. I got to the end and was disappointed that there was no more, so I am off to get the next one. I hope Kim can write as quickly as I read.Reclaimed (The Fire and Ice Series)

Reclaimed ( The Fire and Ice Series Book #1) by Kim Faulks. This story is about a take no crap female bodyguard, Natalie. She takes an assignment to to protect a rich client Alexander Ash. Natalie starts experiencing some unusual happenings. Is she loosing her mind? Or is something else going on? I really liked this story. It is a bit different from what I normally read. There is some weird unexpected stuff that happens at the mansion. I promise if you can hang in there and get past that, this story is Awesome! This was my first book by Kim Faulks. It won't be my last!

This story
was... well obscure and definitely needed at least some help. But it was interesting to learn of part of her past and her new future. She could evolve into something grand and .Andy even more. But for the most part she needs some help with the plot a little, some times it's a lot confusing. So keep in mind to make a good story and find the right places to put things look to a clearer and maybe a more diverse plot to grab the reader. All in all good story. Just cover your eyes.

This book was horrible. The characters were shallow, stupid and undeveloped. I kept hoping it would get better. It doesn't. Do not bother with this book. I don't know what to say. Bad encompasses it all.

It started out interesting, then suddenly Miss "i'm tough and know my s*** and don't take crap from anyone" is another simpering boring damsel. i couldn't finish it.
I love books, i love reading, i love action and adventure, i love romance, but this was just...don't claim a character is all tough and then turn her into a weak little maiden. it was more disappointing than Twilight.

Well played, Kim Faulks...Hired by Alexander Ash as a body guard, Natalie Sommers is immediately suspicious about his intentions behind why he needs a "personal bodyguard". Alexander Ash is, without doubt, wealthy, handsome, and arrogant--a man who always "gets" what he wants. Natalie knows the type who seeks out "a personal body guard" is looking for one like her. But he's far too insistent that for this situation he must have her for his bodyguard. If he is expecting more from her than just guarding his body, he'll find out the hard way no extras are included in the price. But there was that shudder when she first laid on him. Was it desire? Or just her body telling her it's been to long since shefd been laid?
Here is where an author could have lost me.
Even though Natalie soon realizes that she is indeed attracted to Alex, Faulks didn't rush them into bed. She understands her characters and knows there is still too much mystery surrounding Alex. And that Natalie is too much of a professional to let that happen. When the moment comes and her guard falls, Faulks makes it seem as if Natalie is in a dream-like state of awareness--not truly having a totally conscious understanding what is happening to her.
At the most crucial moment at what is happening to her is where Marik enters, bringing her back to awareness and her surroundings before things go too far. Now the story really begins to heat up. Not that they weren't already on fire...Both men swear they love her. Both warn her to be wary of the other. Who is telling the truth? Or are both lying? Both are holding back details. But for what means?
And without further ado Kim Faulks' Reclaimed captured me. And just as fast I felt "you know what killed the cat", was heading in Natalie's direction. Because there is more to Alex then meets the eye. He is also a vampire. And if that isn't enough Marik is a Djinn. And both seem to already know her. And this is when Natalie's world turns into a rock-and-roll kaleidoscope of twists and turns that lead her straight out of the reality she knew and into what can only be described as being swept into a LSD trip, without actually being on LSD.
Reclaimed's ending is only the beginning. There are many voids that need filling in. No, Natalie has many roads to travel before everyone's true nature is exposed, including hers. No matter what that entails, I will be right there with her. So be on the lookout for my reviews for Book 2 Seductive Sands and Book 3 Enslaved in Kim Faulks' Fire and Ice series.
Here's hoping the journey unfolds as well as it began!!

After returning from Afghanistan Natalie's personal life was at a standstill. As far as she was concerned her relationship with Chris was over, now she just had to make `him' get the message! She was working as a bodyguard so when her boss called her with the offer of a high paying client named Mr Ash she was only too willing to take the job.
This particular assignment was nothing like the others, for a start she found Alexander Ash highly attractive which was distracting and on top of that she began to hear voices in her head ... very unsettling. After she was asked to accompany Mr Ash to a party and stay over night things started to get stranger and Natalie was beginning to wonder just what she had got herself into........
Natalie was very strong willed which is why she was unnerved by her reaction to `Mr Ash' and her loss of control where he was concerned. She finds it difficult to believe what she is being told by Alexandra and Malik (who we meet in the latter part of the book) because their tale is so far fetched. We do find out why her feelings for him are so instantaneous and strong, but I wont give out any spoilers here.
I found the story interesting, unpredictable, and quite different to the usual vampire / Demon stories I have read of late. Some of the sentences were a bit choppy and in parts the story jumped around a little leaving me confused and having to re-read so I could understand what was happening, a little more editing could easily sort this out. Overall the writing flows well, and is mostly an easy read. This is book one in `the fire and ice series' but there was no annoying cliff hanger at the end.

Natalie was reluctant to take the job of guarding the mysterious and irritating Mr Ash. She'd had a gutful of her sorry heap of an ex boyfriend, and wanted to make some changes in her life. But the pay was phenomenal, and the assignment was short. How bad could it be? Natalie embarks on a journey of discovery where nobody, including herself is who she thinks they are.
Reclaimed surprised me in many ways. the central character, Natalie was believable and likeable, and I enjoyed makinng this journey with her. Mr Ash, while mysterious, chauvinistic and emminently unlikeable commanded my attention for the first portion of the book, and I was very curious to see where the story went.
From halfway through the book, I feel obliged to give fair warning that it's an erotic suspense, and some of the scenes are quite graphic. The party scenes built to a suspenseful peak in the book, and held my interest well.
For me the only real disappointment in the book was Malik. I really, really wanted to like him, but in a shorter length novella like this one, there was little time to really get to know each character's motivations, and story, and in this case, it meant that I didn't really bond with the character, or what happened in the story after he arrived in it.
Still, there was enough in the story to keep me entertained and wanting a second instalment to see where they could possibly go from here.

What an absolutely fabulous story this is. I downloaded this book by mistake, but as fate would have it, I've enjoyed it a great deal more than I expected to. I don't usually like erotic literature or stories with vampires. Goodness have I been missing out!
This story had me from the first page - long before the erotic scenes and vampires appeared.
The main character is very strongly drawn, she is complex and interesting and although she exhibits a `tough lass' exterior it is quickly apparent that she has a vulnerable and almost tender side to her. Natalie is the kind of character you can't help but like and route for, but I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her.
I didn't particularly like Alexander from the start, but I had no idea what coming with him - the plot twist totally took me by surprise.
The whole plot was amazing and full of unexpected events and turns which kept me riveted to my kindle.
I thought Malik was particularly well crafted and loved the contrast between Malik and Alexander.
The ending to this story is brilliant and I can't wait to read to more.
I don't know the author of this book but I would very much like to. She has a fabulously relaxed writing style and I finished this story feeling as though I'd love to sit down and have a cup of coffee with the author.
So - for someone who didn't like vampire story, I've got to say, I'm now hooked. Thank you, Ms Faulks, for a superbly entertaining story.

Kim Faulks has written a powerful erotic paranormal in Reclaimed. With Vampires, D'jinns, Serpentalias and humans reincarnated, I found myself immersed from the first chapter to the end.
Natalie Sommers is a kick-ass, redhead, who works as a bodyguard. Having done two tours in Afghanistan, she knows how to fight and take care of herself. I loved how Kim portrayed Natalie. Natalie has a body to die for but also has flaws. Even the most confident of people has weaknesses and Natalie's is, her inability to love and her fear of heights due to an incident while on tour.
Grayson, Natalie's best friend and past lover. Grayson served in Afghanistan with Natalie and was her partner during her time with the police force. Grayson's weakness is Natalie. I would like to get know Grayson better and hope Kim brings him back into the series.
Samuel Gaffy, Natalie's boss, who runs the body guard company. I got the feeling Natalie owes her life to him because Sam helped her when she returned to the states. He is the sensitive and solid relationship for Natalie.
Ash Alexander and Malik are two men who desire Natalie and will do everything in their power to own her.
Now this is where the story takes off. While guarding Alex, a rich client, Natalie keeps hearing a voice in her head. She is sexually attracted to Alex and tries to keep the relationship business only. But what's a girl to do when a hot vampire gets in her mind, and mentally touches all the right places on her body?
Alex takes Natalie to a party and this is when I was really drawn in with Kim's description of the house, the creatures and the orgy. I love dark writing. The party scene also turns the events for Natalie and she meets Malik, the D'jinn. Natalie finds out who she really is during this party and wants answers.
I'll stop here for fear of giving spoilers, but I will say the way Kim writes; I could picture every character in my mind, feel Natalie's emotions and the sex scenes are HOT! This was a page turner to the end. I can't wait to read the second installment Seductive Sands.

Natalie is a tuff no nonsense body guard. But when she takes a job guarding Alexander she starts feeling weird every time he's close to her. She starts hearing someone else's voice in her head and she feels like she is going crazy. Alexander has been searching for Natalie for centuries. They were once married and promised to love each other for eternity. Natalie starts to give in to her feelings to Alexander but another immortal has his sights set on her also. Malik a Djinn has been searching for Natalie also. Natalie is torn between the two and finding out the truth about herself. Both immortals light a fire in Natalie but she doesn't know who to trust.
Kim makes the characters flawed and beautiful at the same time. I could relate to Natalie and feel her confusion and passion for both men. I am looking forward to reading Seductive Sands to see what happens next.

Reclaimed hits the ground running, starting with strong emotions and building the character of Natalie very quickly. Having read as many books as I have, with the majority set in alternate worlds or America, it is a fresh change to read one that is based in Australia, country of origin for Miss Faulks and myself.
Even if I didn't already know it was a paranormal, there are hints and slight suggestions to the mystical, which drew me in more than if it had been obvious. Sometimes the hint is more tantalizing than a flat out statement.
Ms Faulks really knows how to work the sensual scenes, spreading a sinfully superb setting of seduction. With each twist and turn Kim Faulks drew me in to her story even more. This is one author who can pack a whole lot of story in to a short space without losing detail or overwhelming a reader; to manage such a feat takes real skill and Ms Faulks certainly has plenty of that.
Reclaimed sets up what promises to be a fantastic series, and I highly look forward to future stories from Ms Faulks!

Wow! First off, I am someone who really prefers to read science fiction and fantasy adventure based books. But after picking up a copy of this book, and started reading through the first few chapters, I have to say that I was hooked! Definitely erotic and mysterious at the same time, and I loved how when one chapter ended, it really left me hanging and wanting to move into the next immediately. Natalie, the main character, is a very cool cat, so to speak; she is a strong-willed lady with a true grit attitude about her; yet she has a tender heart buried beneath all of that, as well. What really got me going in the story was when the author introduced the characters, Alexander and Malik: two unique "creatures" with age-old human characteristics, such as the need and want for love and the passionate embrace of ecstasy. One thing they both have, that I thought was written very well into the story, was their mutual desire and drive to obtain, or "reclaim", Natalie as their own. This, I found, was where Natalie finds herself caught between a rock and a hard place, and where I found that the mystery and intensity of the characters and the book really exploded for me. Another thing that sprarked my imagination, was that the story had sort of a "film noir" feel to it: it had me picturing dark, alluring, low lit places, and the mystery added to this very well. I have to say, I can't wait to read what happens with Natalie and how things will unfold further in the next installment to this well crafted tale by Kim Faulks! If one likes mystery, romance, eroticism, and paranormal all rolled into one, then this is a book to glue your eyes upon! Bravo, Kim Faulks! Kim Faulks achieved something in this tale that, at times, authors have difficulty doing for me in full-length novels. She held my attention from beginning to end without losing me in a flood of unnecessary information and details. She created characters with depth and personality, and scenes that made it impossible to stop reading.
Natalie, our leading lady, is a take-no-prisoners kind of girl. Trained in the military, she now works as a bodyguard and has been hired to protect Alexander Ash. He is a smug 'business man' who gets under Natalie's skin - and in her head - almost immediately. Then there is our mysterious Malik..no last name, no real information on him, no particular color to his eyes. Both men seem to have an immediate interest in, and effect on, Natalie. Ah, yes. How could I forget the 'creatures'?? Well, only time, and reading this, will tell how they all are connected! *Wink*
We are given mystery, suspense, paranormal romance, and (who could forget) some very steamy sex scenes in this novella. Who could ask for more - Except for a sequel, of course! Kim - Please?!

I liked this story until halfway through when it got all freaky and confusing. At first I thought it was going to be a romance between this sexy vampire and the female bodyguard and then the couple is taken to a demon sex orgy party. I lost interest after that.
