Gage & Bailey's story has been so frustrating, I thought things would NEVER work out for them. Bailey had always crushed on Gage since they were kids. But working as his nanny did cause her to think twice about making her fantasies becoming a reality. He was her boss, after all and she shouldn't cross that line. But it was Gage who caused me so much impatience. At first, it was his disrespect for women by his constant stream of one night stands he brought into his home. Then there was his stubbornness about not letting any woman into his heart because of what happened in the past. When he finally began to soften that stance, there was another issue that was a deal breaker. Typical man!...it just takes one a little longer to get the point. This book is worth reading because it feels true to life and is a joy to see two struggling hearts work through their challenges and differences and find their ultimate happiness together. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Five stars.

This story is a friends to lovers sports romance, packed with sweetness and sexy scenes. Gage is an NHL player and his longtime friend Bailey happens to be his daughter’s nanny.
When Bailey moves in to be with them full time, things start getting a little out of hand due to the hidden desires of these two, but they have been friends all their lives and, in addition to that, Gage has trust issues he’s not ready to overcome. Add to this mix the sweetness of the little girl both of them adore, their friends and mothers pushing trying to push them together and the shadow of an absent mother to make this one a very interesting story.
I’m really impressed by this book, which I understand is Ms. Whiskey’s debut. I enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the development. It’s fast paced, never boring, sexy, romantic and altogether sweet. I will definitely be in line to read more about the Seattle Sharks series.

I absolutely loved this book! It was so well written and flowed from start to finish. Gage is an NHL hockey player who was scorned by a sleazy woman. He is left with an amazing little girl, Lettie. Bailey is his long time friend and now nanny for Lettie. Bailey has had a thing for him for many years. Living with him put a whole new twist on their relationship. He finally caved and gives in and they find that they can build a strong relationship. You will definitely not be disappointed in this read! Lots of good steamy stuff too!

Oh wow, what a brilliant story.
Gage McPherson has been best friends with Bailey since childhood. She has now temporarily become his daughter Lettie's Nanny, since he injured his shoulder. Lettie is a little diamond. So funny. Bailey has her own hopes and dreams but can Gage be part of them. He is hot and can have any woman he wants but will he choose her or just be friends.
Gage has a big secret too and knows he should tell Bailey but will it change things. Loved how their relationship develops into so much more after dealing with health issues , ex wife, player rivals and Lettie being the glue that keeps them together. She makes me want to watch Maria von Trapp again!!!!
All in all it kept me addicted to it, made me laugh made me want to shout at Helen give Lettie a big hug. Well done Samantha

Well written. It, started off with a decent plot. Single dad who worships his daughter. He worships her right up until he lets some skank he brought home enter the kitchen where his three year old child is having breakfast and the nanny he's hot for is working. Too much of a disrespectful pig for me. DNR. I give it two stars because what I read was fairly well written.

Bailey has known Gage pretty much her whole life. Their mothers are best friends. It seemed inevitable they would become close as well. He does not seem to know that she is seriously attracted to him. The problem is she knows he is a player.
Gage has a hard time trusting anyone close. His past has held a lot of pain. A life that he does not want his daughter to have to have. He is choosing who to trust and keep close. Who he allows around his child.
Very endearing story with some sports thrown in. I loved these characters and hope to see them again in upcoming books in the Seattle Sharks series. There was sexy times, silly times, and more.

I have to say I was surprised over all.
Alpha male, hockey player and over all playboy, who is also a single dad and somewhat broken.
Finds love with his 20+ year best friend Bailey. She is what is good and fun when it comes to women in his life. She cares for his daughter and him, she is everything he didn't know he wanted.
But there is a problem...But is it something they can't over come? Heart break, love, passion, and understanding bring this love affair to a head.
One of the best endings I have read lately. Good job I can't wait for the next book.

I love the relationship between Gage and Bailey though I admit I felt like the story was lacking a few things. It moved rather fast, the story was rather short as well.
SPOILER ALERT
REALLY I WOULDN'T LIE ABOUT THIS
I felt like there should have been more from Helen instead of "Hey I'll sign the papers.. No I won't.. Yes here I go. I never wanted to be a mother..." Perhaps I thought she would play a little more cat and mouse with them before really giving into what Gage wanted. How miracley they are now pregnant. So on. i thought there should have been more in there. The book was good but those are the two things that made me kinda say huh?

Gage became a single father when his daughter's mother walked out on them when she ran away with a rival hockey player. Gage needed a nanny for Lettie since he was always traveling with the team. He hired Bailey, his best friend since childhood, and finally moved her into the house. They developed feelings for each other that Gage tried to ignore because he was afraid to fall in love again for fear they would leave him again like Lettie's mom did. Will they overcome their fears. You'll have to read it to find out. Looking forward to reading more from this author. I received this book as a gift for an honest review. Patsy Sacco

I loved this! I am definitely a hockey fan, so it grabbed me from that aspect, but the story was fantastic! How amazing to think about a smoking hot guy who is so totally into raising his daughter and putting her first in his life! I was hooked on the tension between Gage and Bailey and watching how their relationship developed.
You could not ask for a better ending to an amazing story, but I'm already looking forward to the next story in the series. The character set-up and development have me ready to pre-order!!!

I actually really like this book! This was a first time read for me by this author and I really enjoyed the book. Things jump right in and move at a very fast pace. The H and h in this story has terrific chemistry. The H's daughter was adorable and really added a nice touch to the story. The book was pretty short and I think that it could have been a bit longer to allow a bit more character development. The main conflict in this story got wrapped up a bit fast but overall this was just a sexy, fun and quick sports romance that hit the mark for me. I will for sure be back to read Rory's story!

Hockey player playboy, Gage McPherson, employs his childhood best friend, Bailey, after his wife walks out on them. Bailey loves his little girl and feelings for Gage grow. Gage is scared to act on his feelings for Bailey. He doesn't want his daughter to lose anyone else. Add on coming back from an injury and Gage is struggling.
I really liked this book. It was well written and the sex was hot. I love single dad books and Gage will do anything for his little girl. Bailey is struggling with what to do with her life like many people her age and falls into what she always wanted.

This was a well written sports romance. It was friends to lovers with a bit of a familiar single dad spin, but I loved it none the less. I liked the characters and felt they were built up well as was their relationship. Since they already had history, their naughty times didn't feel rushed to me. I also loved the relationship that was between Bailey and Lettie. So sweet! Gage was pretty great too. He had his issues, but they were relatable!
All in all this was a low angst read. The naughty bits were hot, and the love story was sweet! Read this book!

So here’s the deal after reading Grinder: Gage McPherson is my new book boyfriend – sign me up and paint me red, where can I find me a guy like this?
For some reason, I wanted to tread lightly when reading this book, perhaps afraid that the shoe would drop at some point, but it was like coming across the scene of an accident – as much as you don’t want to stare, you can’t help seeking out every gory detail. Gage? He’s too good to be true, even though he sleeps with puck bunny after puck bunny in an effort to fill the void in his heart and keep his mind off his best friend-turned-nanny Bailey. Bailey? She’s a strong, independent woman – who’s actually got a brain in her head – who has always wanted nothing more than to be a mom. She accepted the job as Lettie’s nanny after graduating from college while seeking a permanent position at an art gallery and quickly falls into the role, head over heels enamored with the spunky little girl.
The lifelong best friendship Gage and Bailey shared was overshadowed by the potential for so much more: do they explore the chemistry and comfort they have together, the feeling that it’s just “right” between them, and risk the chance that Gage’s daughter Lettie would be crushed if they end up breaking up?
Debut author Samantha Whiskey is a masterful storyteller, and it’s easy to fall right into the characters and be tuned in to their emotions, feelings and insecurities. It’s refreshing that these two admit their feelings and start working at building a relationship, but it’s not long before the elephant in the room – Gage inadvertently punishing Bailey for his ex’s inability to be a good person, good partner or good mom – threatens whatever happiness they might have. The barriers start popping up, and one secret in particular threatens their future together. Even though their love is palpable, Bailey does her best to move on, only to have fate intervene.
The storyline and sub-plots were well-constructed and clever, the characters were realistic and easy to identify with, and the HEA was both surprising and satisfying. Readers will be awed by the romance, in-depth characterization and unquestionable chemistry, and steadily paced solid storyline.

Gage McPherson tried love once, and he has no intention of traveling down that road again, the last time he did he found himself broken-hearted and left to be a single parent of their daughter. Now everything in his world revolves around that little girl and ensuring she has everything she needs. With hockey season starting again soon, he knows he needs to find someone to care for her when he can't be there, and there's only one person he trusts for the job, his best friend Bailey. Hiring her to step in a be a nanny for his daughter seemed like a no-brainer, but now that she is living with them, and taking part in almost every facet of his life he begins to realize he may have got himself into far more than he bargained for... the more time he spends with her the harder it is to resist her. He knows getting involved with her could have catastrophic results, but everything about it at the moment feels so right... but he has a secret one that could put an end to things before they ever really get started.
Bailey has loved Gage for most of her life, but she has never found the right way to make her feelings known to him, and now that they are going to be living together she knows it's going to be hard to keep them under wrap. Watching he parade one night stands in and out of the door each night, full well knowing that they are getting a part of him that she will never have just about kills her, she'd love nothing more than to be the girl in his bed... even if it is for only one night. But just like always she plays off her feelings for him, and acts as though the only thing they share is friendship... that is until she notices the same heat she carries for him being mirrored in his eyes one night... then it's game on!
From the moment I read the synopsis for this book I knew I was going to be in for a real treat, with my newfound fascination with anything involving hockey I couldn't wait to dive into it, and I have to say I was VERY impressed with what I found!! The minute Gage waltzed onto the page I knew I was in trouble, the man exuded sex appeal, carried a domineering presence, and had a cocky swagger that just could not be ignored!! His smooth one liners, caring and gentle nature and unwavering dedication to his daughter had me swooning from the get go and also left me completely envious Bailey... what it would be like to be in her shoes!! I loved every minute of this story, it sparked a smile or two, stirred my emotions, and had some hot and oh so steamy moments that left me in dire need of a fan, overall a VERY impressive and memorable first read for me!! I can't wait to make a return visit to the series and see what Ms. Whiskey has in store for the other men of the Seattle Sharks series!!!
Highly recommend this one, the minute you meet Gage he'll have you falling in love, and looking at hockey players in a whole new light!!

This was a nice, light, quick friends to lovers story. Gage is a single dad and NHL hockey player. Bailey is Gage's BFF who becomes his daughter's live in nanny. I enjoyed the story of the most part but I was not impressed with Gage's and his flaunting of the puck bunnies he brought to his house for sex while Bailey and his daughter were home. It would have been more tasteful if he did this discreetly.
Other than that issue I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to what Samantha Whiskey writes Next!

this is the first book by Samantha Whiskey that i've had the pleasure of reading and I don't think it will be the last.
I really liked Gage and Bailey's story- it's clear to everyone around them that they're made for each other but Bailey has to constantly compete with the actions of his ex wife. They've been friends for years but he can't see past his own thoughts to see the future that he and Bailey COULD have if only he'd let it happen.
This was a great book and i had a hard time putting it down!

This was a surprisingly good book. Sometimes sports romance can be over the top cheesy and boring. But this was heartfelt and each of the characters actually had some sense. I appreciate that the writer didnt make this all about lust and have the characters become brainless when they are around eachother. The kid was really cute and well written. I would definitely read this series!

I enjoyed reading about Gage and Bailey's journey of going from best friends to lovers. They had some heart breaking moments and some steamy moments. Lettie was an adorable addition that made the story every bit worthwhile with her innocent, charming nature. I also loved the pace of the book, because it didn't leave the reader waiting chapters just for things to unfold.
Definitely a cute, quick book I'd recommend.

This is a great hockey story, best friends coming together.
Gage is very swoon worthy and it was such a treat to see how his eyes are slowly
opened to his best friend Bailey.
After being burned once, will Gage ever let go and love again?
I couldn't put this book down and I really look forward to reading the next in the series about Rory.
All of the characters in the book are interesting and deserve their own story.

At first, this book read too closely to Sawyer Bennett's Hawke. However, Samantha Whiskey puts together two strong main characters. I would have liked Bailey to be stronger and not allow Gage to run over her but Gage and Bailey compliment each other. The story has small twists but again if you've read Bennett's book, you'll have read this storyline. This is the beginning of a new series. It'll be interesting to see how this series develop and distinguish itself.

Gage and Bailey grew up together and our best friends. While Gage goes on to play college and then Pro Hockey, Bailey goes away to college and they lose touch with each other. Gage gets married and has a daughter and then his wife leaves him. Bailey becomes nanny to his 3 year old daughter and sparks start to fly. It is a nice easy read, good story and both main characters are likeable. This is the first in the Seattle Sharks series.

From what I see available in Kindle it looks like this is the debut effort from Samantha Whiskey. She's done well here with a friends to lovers hockey romance. There were several grammatical issues that kind of tripped me up along the way, but overall it was a good book. I would be inclined to read the next book in the series.
In my opinion, hockey romance is a tough genre to write because there are some truly amazing authors out there who have made this their bread and butter. It's hard to compete with that. Still, this is a good book, and I'm glad I picked it up in Kindle Unlimited.
