Holy hotness. OUT OF BOUNDS will leave your windows fogged as R.S. Grey turns up the steam in her latest addition to the SUMMER GAMES series. Coach and gymnast are enemies that go round after round, but the games don't stop when practice ends. Their banter is on fire, and be warned: Erik Winter will dirty-talk your ear off. Don't read this in public unless you want to get caught panting.
OOB shows a sexier side to RS Grey's writing. It has the same fun banter and wit we are used to from her, plus a strong but flawed heroine we can all relate to, but there's some extra spice on top. Erik and Brie are feisty opponents with the same goal: gold. The question is whether they'll take each other down before they even get the chance to compete...

I agree with all the other one star reviewers. This book was awful. It doesn't even deserve one star. I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them. But this one - wow. Wrong on so many levels. Please do not waste your time with this one.

I am obsessed with every book RS Grey writes. OBSESSED. Scoring Wilder will always and forever be my absolute favorite book by her, but I have been loving her Summer Games series and couldn't wait to read about a hardheaded gymnast falling for her coach!
Erik Winter is not a nice guy. He's as focused and harsh as they come, telling you exactly how it is. So when he first meets Brie, the most talented of the five gymnastic Olympians he needs to coach, he is taken aback by her fiery attitude. Brie needs to win in Rio in order to give back to her mom for everything she has sacrificed for her, but for some reason, Brie just can't help but get under Erik's skin. With an undeniable attraction, Brie finds herself pushing Erik to the edge as he pushes right back. As they continue to play, though, Brie isn't so sure she can handle the game…
Wow, this book is Hot with a capital H. This is definitely the steamiest of books I read from RS Grey and that definitely isn't a bad thing. Brie and Erik start off instantly not getting along, so if you like books where the main couple really doesn't get along and likes to bicker and fight, you'll absolutely love this one. While I did like how much they got to each other, I wasn't a huge fan of how after every single time they even came close to getting together or progressing in their relationship, one of them immediately had to shut down. I understood their reactions the first few times, but after awhile it became repetitive and really slowed down any real progress in their relationship. But the bickering was so much fun and it was just the nature of their relationship.
I am a huge sports romance fan and it's difficult to find a book that gives me enough sports AND romance. While Out of Bounds gave me hot and heavy romance and some of Brie's training, when it came to the culmination of Brie's actual Olympic games, it was a fade to black and jumped right to the results. Where was the huge moment where she finally competed and proved herself? I wanted to see that! I remember that exact kind of pacing happened in the first book in this series where the soccer games were skipped completely and we only got the before and after. Some people would probably not notice this, but since I love my sports and love seeing the characters really in their element, I was a bit let down. That being said, though, I still loved the whole Olympic village setting, which is where the last half of this book takes place, and it was fun seeing how crazy all of the athletes could get.
Overall, I still really enjoyed Out of Bound despite the omission of some sporty moments and the intense hot and cold relationship between the main characters. There were fantastic side characters that Brie got to train with and I loved getting to know Erik and seeing him be really vulnerable after seeing him so tough and rough as the gymnastics coach. If you want a steamy romance that will get you hyped for the upcoming Olympics, and if you love a yummy former male gymnast and an insanely talented female gymnast, you must read Out of Bounds!

Brie Watson lives for gymnastics. She's worked her behind off since she was a kid striving for Olympic Gold. And that medal is right in her grasp. Its a month before Rio and she just got word that the team's coach, Filip Winter is having health issues and his son Erik will be coaching the team. She's thrown for a loop. She has to come up with money for a flight from Aust in, Texas to Seattle. Money for Brie has always been an issue. Her father skipped out long before Brie could ever have a relationship with him and so her mom has played both mom and dad for her. Her mom's a social worker, she works incredibly long hours for not so great money and they have struggled from day one but Brie's mom has done everything she could to make sure Brie could follow her dreams of being a gymnast. Maybe her outfits weren't the greatest and there's never been money for extras but her mom bargained her way into getting her coached by the best and trained at the finest gym. If Brie can bring home gold, she knows she can pay her mom back by getting endorsements and finally, all their hard work will pay off.
Gymnastics is the sport with a strong marriage between body and mind. Your body hesitates in fear and cries out in pain while your mind wills it to push beyond what should be possible. The only thing separating good gymnasts from great gymnasts is the ability to overcome that fear.
Brie had to take a cheaper flight into Seattle and so she sent an email to the new coach letting him know she would be arriving early. There was mix up and Erik had "company" when Brie got to his house. He felt uncomfortable having his one night stand on display. Brie was taken back by how good looking Erik was, but his arrogant attitude shut down any wandering thoughts she might have had about him.
These two are like chalk and cheese. They press each other's buttons and they fight constantly. But I think the root of the problem is that they want each other. Really Badly.
"You aren't special, Brie, so stop acting like it." His words had the same effect as a knife to my heart.
But Eric has fought hard for his position as a coach for the Olympic team. He trained to compete in the men's Olympics but dr opped out a month before the games. He disappeared, and came back after opening his own gym. He hasn't had a relationship with his own father ever since and no one knows why. This guy holds a lot inside himself.
Athletes work hard but play harder. Sooner or later all that sweat and adrenaline is going to come bubbling to the surface and one or the other of Erik or Brie is going to combust. Brie taunts Eric every chance she can get and he is at his breaking point.
My body pooled with warmth as his thumb dragged across my sole. Why. Why. Why. He was touching my foot! Last I checked, my vagina was somewhere between my hips and thighs.
There's one scene that takes place in a yoga studio and I have to say it was pretty unique for a RS Grey book. I've never known her to write a scene like this one and I had to go back and re read it a couple of times. One, because it was smoking hot and two because I couldn't believe it was in one of her books. That will show me for thinking I know all about her writing style!
But what happens after the games are over and both go back to their own lives in two separate states? Will they both cut and run? Go back to each of their isolated existences and their time together will just be time out of time. Summer gold will turn to dust once they return to their own lives
She wasn't going to do this. She didn't get to decide this was over because I hadn't thrown her over my shoulders and hauled her off into the sunset the night before. I deserved one night to gather my thoughts. I deserved more than a quick dismissal.
The Summer Games: Out of Bounds centers around athletes and their sport and their unwavering commitment to the game. There was a different kind of vibe from this one-it had a more adult feel, and was more serious than some of her other books. But just like the first one of the series, it was hot and funny and poignant and everything I've come to expect from Ms. Grey's books!
"I don't know what the future will hold for us, but I'm asking you to trust me, to trust that I won't take your love lightly. "

The queen of Olympic naughtiness goes to R.S. Grey. Or should I say the gold medal? Either way, Out of Bounds is sexy, steaming, alluring, and oh so addicting. I devoured it within hours...I think it was four or five. I couldn't stop reading. The chemistry between Erik and Brie sizzles and crackles off the pages. These two run so hot and cold with each, it was what kept me from putting down this book for a food break.
I needed to see what happened between these two next, needed to see what would set them off and just explode. And boy, did they explode with passion. These two are H-A-W-T HOT. I mean, if you thought Settling the Score was hot (which it was...hi, Freddie), it has nothing on Out of Bounds. This book is hands down R.S. Grey's steamiest and sexiest book yet.
Have a fan on standby. You'll thank me later.
Out of Bounds starts out with Brie finding out that her coach for the Olympics had been hospitalized and unable to guide her and her teammates to the gold in Rio. Instead, the coach taking over is her former coach's son. Erik Winter.
Erik has this air of mystery to him. He owns a famous gym where some of the best gymnast go, but no one really knows a thing about him. Or why he quit the USA Olympic team before the games began. Since he was nineteen he's been on his own. Not talking to his father for ten years, he's suddenly replacing him and with that replacement comes with a lot of expectations. Erik has a lot to live up to. He just got a whole bunch of stress on his plate.
When him and Brie meet, they do not get off on the best foot. From the beginning the two challenge each other. Especially Brie. She's not normally defiant toward her coaches, but there is something about Erik that has her pushing his buttons...probably because he pushes back. As these two navigate their sexy and argumentative dynamic, they also have to stay hidden.
A girl and her coach in a relationship during the Olympics? It has scandal aalll over it.
Just what Brie doesn't need. She needs to win gold in all of her events to win the money and get sponsors that come along with winning medals. She needs to work on paying her mother back for all the sacrifices she has made to get Brie where she is. Brie is at the Olympics for her mother, to win for her mother. But even with that, she can't help herself with Erik. There is something about him that draws her in and wants to be around him, even when they are fighting. Because she'd rather fight with Erik than have him ignore her.
So when Brie finds the courage to lay her heart out there for Erik, it's the scariest thing she will do in Rio. Because it's not just losing the gold anymore, it's losing her heart that's on the line...
R.S. Grey is slaying the game with these Olympic novels. With the Olympics almost here (seriously, how many days do we have left?!) this series is the perfect one to pick up. They are a series of standalones that follow different sports and different characters that do not overlap. They're just athletes getting down and dirty and finding love along the way.

Brie never disrespect her coaches and never talks back to them, but if someone doesn’t respect her, she won’t respect back. Unfortunate for Brie, the coach she was supposed to train with got hospitalized and his son Erik was there to take his place. As soon as Brie and Erik meet, there’s so much tension between them. They cannot stand each other at the gym and so their fighting begins. Brie has a major backbone. She would be so sassy when talking back to Erik. It would infuriate Erik so much! Seeing both of these characters act this way, made me all kinds of excited. I love the hate-to-lovers trope. And let me tell you, this is a real hate relationship until it turns to more.
Erik is so cold and mean, but he’s hot! The guy is a gymnast, for Pete’s sake. He has the body, the looks, and the attitude to go along with it that makes Brie (and the reader) crave more. Unfortunately, he’s a heart breaker! I broke my heart one too many times! Did I forgive him?…. Yes, yes I did. You don’t turn away someone like him, okay?
Let’s talk about that sexual tension. I don’t even know where to begin. I think this is the most tension I’ve felt off both characters from any book I’ve read. It was so thin, it was so close to shattering. Now, the hottest and steamiest scene I read has to be the yoga scene. If you read the book, I’m sure you agree with me. That scene was… I was speechless. I was beet-red with my jaw dropped open. You need a fan or an A/C for this, so be warned and prepared. Seriously, it’s the hottest book Rachel has written and I applaud her for writing such a phenomenal scene.
I absolutely loved the side characters, such as Lexi and Rosie, who are in Brie’s team. Both girls are so polar opposite, but both were hilarious! Lexi is the wild card. She loves to party and hook up, but she’s so straight up. She will tell you like it is without holding back and I loved that about her. Rosie is only 17 and so very quiet and shy, but she’s so nice and loyal. They made the book hilarious and fun. Another character that made a great addition is Erik’s grandfather. He was so sweet and fun! I wish I had more of him in the story.
The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that while Brie does have a backbone, she’s putty at the hands of Erik. There were so many times I wanted her to stay strong and not give in to him. I mean, he would push her away so much and hurt her. I wanted her to have some dignity and stay away to make him suffer. When it happened, I was celebrating because I needed Brie to be strong and thankfully, she ended up being just that.
Out of Bounds runs at the same time as Settling the Score. Remember, they are in the Olympics in the same year, just with a different sport. In fact, Freddie is mentioned in the book, and Andie appears. Since it’s happening at the same time, these books can be read out-of-order and as stand-alones.
Overall, Out of Bounds was hot, sexy, exhilarating, steamy, and funny. It’s definitely a book I highly recommend because you will enjoy it from beginning to end!

R.S. Grey pens another intense, explosively hot and impossible to put down sports romance about an underdog gymnast and her stern and sexy coach.
“I liked the little game we were playing and I’d die before I let him see me falter.”
After winning three consecutive World gymnastic championships, Brie Watson is slated to become the next Olympic gold medalist. Something she desperately wants, not just because she has tirelessly dedicated almost her entire life to gymnastics, but because she wants to be able to give back to her mother, the woman who had selflessly sacrificed so much to get her there.
To do so however she must survive the next month of training, and the Olympics themself under the hash and watchful eye of the newly appointed head coach.
Erik Winter needs to prove to himself, the critics and his country that he can lead his team of elite gymnasts to top. Luckily he has an incredible team. Unfortunately his most talented athlete respects no boundaries, isn’t intimidated by him, pushes all buttons and has taken permanent residence under his skin.
Can these two put a ceasefire long enough to win gold? Or will their constant warring stoke the fire to also win over their hearts?
"I was playing with fire-no, I wasn't just playing with fire; I was rolling in it. I was so confident I wouldn’t gt burned, I didn’t realize how deep into the flames I’d fallen."
After falling in love with Scoring Wilder, I’ve made it a point not to miss R.S. Grey’s books. Her writing always feels fresh with a smooth flow, endearing characters, and new and different stories that captivate from start to finish. Out of Bounds delivers on all counts. I highlighted about half the book, entire sections at a time that gave me all kinds of feels.
Brie is incredible. Her background story brought tears to my eyes and fiercely made me wanted her to win. She’s strong, determined, persistent, headstrong a spitfire. In short, someone who deserves to be on top of a medal stand and the perfect match for Erik Winter.
Erik on the other had was a tough sell for me. He had almost a decade’s worth of age and experience on Brie not to mention the fact that he was her coach (kind of a forbidden romance). He’s challenging, domineering and terse. I understood why he tried to deny his attraction to Brie and wanted to keep their relationship strictly coach-athlete. Yet his emotions and actions tilted like a seesaw and when he was a downslide he tended to be truly mean and uncaring towards Brie’s feelings, which made it difficult for me to connect with their budding romance. In all honesty, the blurb does say Brie wouldn’t wish him on her worst enemy, so I can’t say I wasn’t warned, but I would have liked for him to beg, suffer and squirm a bit more.
"You aren't special, Brie, so stop acting like it." His words had the same effect as a knife to my heart.
Of course their constant battles and push-pull made their relationship that much more intense and combustible. They were like matches and gasoline with sizzling chemistry.
“He was a sweet poison and I was so addicted, I didn't care that our encounters left me choking for air.”
I loved his grand gesture and they do eventually find their balance which made for a very happy and fitting ending. Although just one epilogue? Really? R.S. Grey has spoiled me!
"I don't know what the future will hold for us, but I'm asking you to trust me, to trust that I won't take your love lightly.”
I also loved the camaraderie between the girls in team USA gymnastics. They were charming with very different personalities which gave an added layer and contributed fun and sweetness to the story as a whole.
Out of Bounds is book #2 in the Summer Games series by R.S. Grey. It’s a standalone, contemporary sports romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Olympic gymnastics?! Yes please! I am obsessed with all things Olympic and I gymnastics is my favorite summer Olympic sport hands down. I also am a huge fan of R.S. Grey's writing. So, yeah, grabbing Out of Bounds was a no brainer!
So, Erik is the new Team USA gymnastics coach. Brie is one of the 5 girls on the team and her and Erik have instant tension. Brie is trying to keep it professional since she is focused on winning so she can help her mom pay the bills. Erik is not immune to her, but knows she is his student. So, you get a bit of the taboo here of the coach/player type. Brie is 20, so its not an underage thing (cause I think thats weird and it makes me uncomfortable!).
The team dynamic is great. 4 of the girls get along great and then there is June. You knew it couldn't be all sunshine and daisies when you put 5 elite athletes together. June is that typical elitist who snubs her nose at the others, tattles on them whenever possible, and pretty much avoids them unless she is bragging. I loved that the other girls weren't like that at all. They were such a diverse group (in terms of personality) that I enjoyed reading their interactions. Even with all their differences they play off each other well and it adds humor and sorority to the story. Rosie is my favorite and I hope she gets a book! She's just so sweet!
In typical Grey fashion, there are some witty one liners that had me chuckling but this book is deeper and steamier than anything I have read from her and I LOVED it. The scene in the yoga studio was a bit too steamy for me though (hey-I am a prude!) I have always enjoyed her writing style, and this book just showed development and evolution in her books. Her writing is evolving and its fantastic!
So, my issue with the story? Brie wavered between mature and driven and then immature and slutty. Her games with Erik got old fast and it only made her seem shallow and him seem like a control freak with no heart. He yanks her around like a toy (even telling her as much); however, he has just as much to lose if she loses at the Olympics. Why would he yank her around so much knowing she is a 20 year old girl who has been largely isolated from the world because of gymnastics? Honestly, until about the 74% mark, I didn't like Erik. He was hell bent on FORCING respect and keeping Brie in line and it wasn't sexy. He pulls her in, gets her all worked up, then shuts her down and reminds her she is a toy to him. Its really not that attractive. If I were to rate the book on their relationship up to the 70% mark, this book would have been an DNF. But, there is a lot more going on than just the relationship. Brie is trying to discover who she is as a young woman, she is torn up about all the sacrifices her mom has made, and she is deals with a very uncertain future after gymnastics! However, the last 25% of the book was AMAZING.
Out of Bounds is perfect for sports romance fans of any type, but if you are an Olympic junkie like me, you will devour this book like gatorade after an 8 hour practice in the Texas heat!

The Summer Games: Out of Bounds is the second book in R.S. Grey's series centering around the Rio Olympics. It reads as a complete standalone as the characters from Settling the Score aren't featured in Out of Bounds.
Here's what we've got:
Forbidden romance: coach and athlete
Age gap: 29 and 20
Angst level: almost painful
Hotness: hottest book I've read this summer
Brie Watson is a first time Olympic gymnast. She's a bit older than her peers but she's going in with the best chances of winning gold. With a month left before the games, she learns that her coach had to back out and she's got to relocate to Seattle to train with Erik Winter.
"He was a sweet poison and I was so addicted."
Erik Winter was an amazing gymnast but fell out of the spotlight and is running his own gym out of Seattle. He's the first-time coach of Team USA and is determined to bring the gold back to the states.
"I was her coach and she was my gymnast. I was the predator and she was the victim. I smiled at the thought."
Ok. I love a good coach/athlete romance. Love it! R.S. Grey did it with Scoring Wilder and that's one of my favorite sports romance reads. Out of Bounds does not disappoint. The hate is hateful and the love is sweet.
Erik is mean. There, I said it. He's mean and hurtful and I wanted to punch him in the nuts a few times. But when he's sweet, you just want to swoon. Brie is fiery and fierce but she's got a hard time letting go giving into her feelings.
The level of angst was so high it was almost hard to read at times. I felt for both characters but wanted to scream at them at the same time to get over it and get together already! Honestly. Just do it and love each other and live your happily ever after. I kind of felt the end was just a bit too quick. I would have liked a bit more of a relationship out of Erik and Brie. Other than that, I adored Out of Bounds! Grey does sports and comedy so well and they shine in this book. Oh. Just a heads up: at 52% there's one of the hottest scenes I've ever read. EVER. I wasn't expecting that out of you, Rachel! Go girl!

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews
I absolutely loved this story, Brie is a modern Cinderella! This is the hottest book R.S Grey has ever written!
Brie has dreams, many dreams but at the moment her focus is on going to the Olympics in Rio to compete in Gymnastics; her passion since she was a young girl. Unfortunately the road ahead isn’t going to be as smooth as she hoped when a month before the games, team USA’s coach is hospitalized and is replaced by his son.
Erik Winters may only be 29 but he’s achieved a lot, he made it to the Olympics when he was 19 and now he has a thriving business; a gym where Olympic athletes train. He’s now been given the responsibility of training team USA’s female gymnastics team only 4 weeks before the games and the thought of having 5 teenage girls in his home isn’t something that he’s looking forward to as he likes his own space and routine.
When they first meet, Brie and Erik don’t get off to a good start as a result of a miscommunication. They both have a fiery temper, stubborn personalities and are very competitive so when one of them pushes, the other pushes even harder till one of them snaps. As the games get closer, the war between them continues and Brie finds herself questioning whether she want to win more than just medals by the end of the games and if she wants to risk everything she’s ever dreamed of for something she never thought she’d have; love.
The writing in this book was fantastic and there was a perfect blend between friendships, gymnastics, romance and angst so the story flowed beautifully and you fell in love with the characters and cared what happened to them. There were comedic elements to the book too and most were provided by Lexi who is Brie’s teammate, I would love Lexi to get her own book, maybe a novella of a reunion for them in the future.
I highly recommend this book and all the other books ever written by this author.

Out of Bounds will have you laughing hysterically and sitting on the edge of the seat in anticipation for what's to come next. I loved this novel. I loved Brie Watson's fiery personality but underneath it all there was a vulnerability that she refused to show. There was a lot riding on her winning gold at the Olympics. Out of Bounds had a semi-dark twist in it when Erik finally tells "his story" to Brie.
I Loved the endless fighting (Banter) between Brie and Erik! Brie was a mastermind at ___ Blocking Erik that night he brought a date home. OMG i couldn't stop laughing.
If you haven't read Out of Bounds by R.S. Grey you should it's amazing!!!

R.S. Grey has written another delicious sports romance with this one. Brie's life revolves around gymnastics and she's in it to win it. Her trip to the Olympics is more than a dream come true, it's a way out of her current life, not just for her, but also her mother who's given up much to get her to this point. A shakeup in coaching staff causes Brie a bit of confusion and could change the direction of her future.
Erik's struggling with issues upon taking over Olympic Coaching of the US Women's gynamastics team. Amid his father's disapproval, he's been awarded the job and is soon to be stuck with 5 young women under his watch and teaching. But Erik finds himself drawn to one of them, knowing he can't and shouldn't really do anything about it, there's too much at stake.
I love the tension between Erik and Brie in this book, their chemistry is off the charts and is palpable to almost everyone around them, even when they are fighting against it with everything they have. The banter between them just spurns things on further, and you are left waiting for them to implode.
I love the element of the forbidden romance in this book, it really adds a bit of extra drama to the mix. The bonding of the team of girls adds another layer to the dynamics of this book, as some of them are closer than others and can see more of what is going on than Erik and Brie may want seen. There is quite a bit of back and forth between these two which not only build anticipation, but also gave us time to get to feel these characters, to really understand their drives. I loved that this was slow burn romance, it almost was like watching hate turn into love.

"We'd become each others prisoners, twisting ourselves into a sexual Stockholm syndrome"
Holy hot yoga, this was by far the sexiest RS Grey book yet! When I first heard the title "Out of Bounds" I just assumed it was just a catchy gymnastics reference, but this was so much more. Rachel twirls a complex story, with characters actually pushing their own limits and stepping out of their comfort zones. This wasn't your typical enemies to lovers or sports romance read, it was a brilliant mix of both, with fabulous supporting characters (Lexi imparting her sex filled wisdom on Rosie had me laughing hysterically!) personal struggles and smoking hot sex scenes!
Brie is an elite gymnast focused on her first (and only) shot at Olympic gold. Unlike her peers she has struggled financially her entire life, and winning means a lot more for her than any of her competitors. Erik is a hot shot gymnastics coach, hired as a last minute replacement for his father to coach the women's Olympic team. They're both hot, focused & hate each other immediately. The chemistry between these two characters is magnetic, both of them vying for power and losing it at the same time. Their story is incredible and a must read!

Another fantastic book for RS Grey!!! I am just loving this series!!! They are fun, exciting, filled with a lot of hotness! This book, The Summer Games Out of Bounds, is by far the hottest book that I have read from this author!!! Every once in awhile you will come across a scene in a book, read it, then decided it needs a re-read because it was that hot! Oh yes, yoga scene did that for me! It was a pleasant surprise from the author!
I loved the storyline! The forbidden romance between an athlete and a coach. There was also that level of danger revolving around their relationship. Brie and Erik LOVED to push eachother buttons!!! I was getting frustrated for both of them! It was they MO, and it worked for them. Brie was a complicated character to me. She had that innocent vibe but then she was very confident. She said what was on her mind and did things because she wanted to do them and never thought of the consequences. But you could see a shyness or apprehensiveness to her when it came to Erik. She kind of bounced back and forth. There whole relationship was based on whether to give in to temptation or not to give in. You can see that war going on with the characters throughout the book.
Overall, it was a fantastic read!!! There was a lot of stuff going on to keep you wanting to continue reading but it never seemed to drag on. You will get frustrated with these characters, but that's them. That's how they operate and it never changed through out the book. The book is funny, sassy, and oh so hot!!! I highly recommend!

Brie is a gymnast headed to the Olympics. She loves her sport and has tremendous talent, but for her there is more to winning Gold than the glory. Brie wants to win so that she can pay her mom back for everything she sacrificed so that she could pursue her passion for gymnastics. A month before the Olympic games, the USA team coach falls ill, and his son Erik is named as his replacement. Erik is sexy, but difficult. Brie is determined not to let this challenging relationship with her coach throw her off course. It's tough to train for an elite event when there are intense feelings and prickly personalities in play.
Yet again, I can count on this author to give me the sexual tension and engaging story I'm looking for. I don't even need to know what one of her books is about before I read it because I've never been let down so far. Brie is an easy character to care about even though I was frustrated by her behavior more than once. Erik is most definitely hot, but he too had me gnashing my teeth in frustration at his behaviors. I wanted to scream at both of them, but I was also desperate for them to sort out their issues and just let themselves be happy.
The themes are fun and engaging and this book has many elements that I enjoy. Mild taboo and power differential in play with the coach/athlete relationship, elite-level athlete life, stubborn personalities and serious lust clashing, and many more. The story is engaging and I read straight through once I started. I will gladly read more by this author in the future!

Who knew the Olympics were filled with such crazy kids? This installment in the series has an Olympic gymnast that has had to fight for everything goal she has attained falling for her jerk hunk of a coach. The back and forth between these two is strong, almost too much at times. But I do love angst, and these two have it in spades. I was hit with a "I'm not sure why this happening moment" during the reading of this book, not to say it wasn't hot, just not sure it needed to happen. Who am I to judge with my jealousy...lol. This author writes sexual tension to a T..and I can't wait to read more from her.

Out of Bounds is the second instalment in The Summer Games series however it absolutely can be read as a standalone.
The writing feels fresh and upbeat, it flows really easily. The enemies-to-lovers story has a light tone mixed with sassy humour along with delicious sexiness. Blissfully it’s told from dual point of view so we can get to know both the main characters better. And trust me, it’s truly much needed here. They both are maddeningly tenacious and strong-minded. Moreover Brie is a real hothead and so fierce, also Erik is demanding, controlling and abrupt. Honestly there was some point where I seriously wanted to hit them in the head. Still their banter likewise their push and pull is entertaining and the tension is off the charts. Oh yeah, that yoga scene was so damn hot my kindle almost melted. I have to admit I reckon the first quarter of the book a little bit slow as well as it took me quite some time to get on board with this couple but while I continued reading I changed my mind in a good way, I couldn't help but root for them.
All in all this is a sweet and very steamy (kind of forbidden) summer romance. Don't miss out this mouth-watering experience.

I am frankly EXTREMELY disturbed by the relationship in this book. I've loved this author's other works but this was something I'd expect to be categorized as "dark/taboo romance." In another of her books, there's a relationship between a coach and athlete depicted in a healthy way, and I loved that book. This however is disgusting. I'm very disappointed that this author thought this type of relationship was at all okay or acceptable. I'm at 67% and I honestly don't think I can finish. He's a 29 year old man who has taken advantage of and poorly-treated his athlete, who is 20 years old and naive when it comes to relationships and life experience. I realize dark romance is "in" right now but many of hose at least depict some tenderness/love/affection between the characters and at 67% I've seen NONE of that here.
I find this especially inappropriate given that sexual assault/abuse of athletes by coaches is something that occurs, yet the author thought this type of relationship was good "romance" material ?????
I'm not sure I'll be able to read another of this author's books after this one.

I’m going with a regrettable, but gracious 2 stars for this one. I’m saying this rating is regrettable because I loved Scoring Wilder and Settling the Score, the two previous books within the same world. The rating isn’t low because of a change in writing style but because of characters that drove me nuts and random moments that did nothing for the story line.
I struggle to finish books when I don’t like the main character but it has happened before and it happened again with this book. Brie reads as much younger and much more juvenile than any 20 year-old I have met. She is hot and cold constantly, wanting affection and attention and then pushing it away and picking meaningless fights. I wanted to like her and I wanted to feel for her when she struggled but all I could think was that she did all of these things to herself. She makes everything so much more difficult because she is so easily excited by attention from anyone, male or female. Our hero was the same way and that’s why this book was nothing to write home about.
In terms of random moments thrown in willy nilly, R.S. Grey had three too many moments in this book for me. I’m not going to give away spoilers, but I never associated yoga with near sexual assault and orgies before this book. It’s as if Grey wanted to make this book more scandalous than the others and forced it by adding in these scenes that did not flow with the rest of the book.
Overall, I know Grey can do better. She made the conflict of this book about two ADULTS behaving like CHILDREN instead of making it about a young athlete falling for her, much older, Olympic coach. There was almost nothing noted about the fact that sexual or romantic relationships are frowned upon between coaches and athletes but also that, as a former athlete, completely out of the normal. This should have been the conflict but the poorly written characters and their complete lack of maturity didn’t leave room for this. So to end this off: A book about children and written for adults is a recipe for disaster.

It was fraught with tension and angst but still unexpected and humorous. The perfect blend of warring emotions.
First off I have to say that I was so excited to read this book! I can't say that I'll love this book more than the others because I love them all, but I feel like we get to see a new side to the authors writing with every new release! I understand from the beginning why this is called an enemies to lover book, Erik and Brie definitely get off on the wrong foot!
Whew, the Sparks between these two were flying off my kindle screen, but Erik is such an ass. I love him, don't get me wrong, but I also want to ring his neck. Brie and the other girls, minus one, are hilarious and I love their friendship and the banter between them.
I stayed up way past my bed time because I could not leave these characters without knowing how their story ended. I was completely engrossed in their lives and I loved every minute of it.

This book man....this book was HOT! Seriously it was the PERFECT love to hate you book. After reading The Summer Games, I was so excited to get back into the life of the Olympians and experience their naughty sides in Rio. When I first read about the Love/Hate relationship between Brie and Erik I was a little hesitant. I mean no offense but that is most books these days, but Out of Bounds is not like any other love to hate you book I have read. The angst is there, and the passion is STEAMY! One second I want to slap the main characters for their games and the next I am wanting them to never stop. This book was a fabulous read and I breezed through it in almost one sitting. I would recommend to anyone that asked me about!
Brie and Erik, you guys are hot, never stop those twisted games you play.
RS Grey, you are the real champion here.

So this one filled the whole the Olympics left my obsession continues. My other favorite sport to watch is womens gymnastics and this book gives us a taste of life behind the scenes. LOVED IT so much I stayed up way too late last night just to finish it. Brie is a 20 yr old gymnastic getting ready to compete in the Rio games. Her mom has worked so hard to give her that dream and she just wants to win and pay her back for all her hard work. The 5 teammates are living in their coach's house for a month to train together before leaving for Rio. Erik is a 29 yr old former gymnast, his dad was once a great coach but medical conditions have benched him. Erik feels like he is fighting a losing battle to prove himself to his father and the world. These two have intense relationship. Love the Olympics setting.

It’s almost time for the 2016 Olympics, and what better way to usher it in than by reading a sports romance about an Olympian? Out of Bounds is R.S. Grey’s HOTTEST book yet – it’s an incredible enemies-to-lovers/forbidden romance between an upcoming gymnastics Olympian and her coach. It’s my second favorite of her books, right after the first Summer Games book. It’s steamy – so, sooo steamy. The lust and hate come so clearly off the pages, it’s mind-blowing. If you don’t like heroes who act like complete a**es and heroines who give as good as they get, this probably won’t be the book for you. But if you do love that intense chemistry that comes with hate, you NEED to get your hands on Out of Bounds!
Brie Watson needs to win the gold so she can repay her mother for everything she sacrificed for her daughter to become the Olympian she is today. The prize money, the future endorsements, all of it will go into giving her and her mother a better life. So even though her original coach steps down due to health issues and his son takes his place, there’s nothing stopping Brie from giving her all during gymnastics training – not even a beautiful 29-year-old coach she loves to hate.
Erik Winter may not have asked for the position of gymnastics coach to Team USA, but he’s going to do what his father didn’t and lead the team to gold. But from the very first moment Brie steps into his life, it’s antagonism and lust and everything in between. To say Erik and Brie don’t get along would be an understatement – these two LIVE for getting under the other’s skin. They fight, argue, cock-block – if it’ll make the other annoyed, they’ll do it. There’s so much hate between them, but underneath it all is a burning lust, a fiery chemistry that can’t be denied. They want each other bad, no matter how much they hate each other.
But in between grueling practices and training, Brie and Erik get to understand each other on a deeper, more visceral level. They might not like each other, but they KNOW each other. Their connection is powerful and unlike anything they’ve ever experienced – so it’s only inevitable that feelings eventually get involved.
This book… I couldn’t put it down from the moment I picked it up. Brie and Erik’s tumultuous, crazy hot romance gripped me and wouldn’t let me go. I mentioned this book was the author’s hottest one yet, right? Because the steam in this – holy GOD. The things that happen between Brie and Erik will make your panties melt and make you blush like crazy!
I do wish there was more of the forbidden love aspect of the story. Despite Erik being Brie’s coach, I never really felt like there were any possible consequences with them getting together. Most of everyone surrounding them approved of their relationship, so if they had that more developed dynamic of forbidden romance, this book would’ve been perfect.
I love that R.S. Grey set the Summer Games series during the 2016 Olympics in Rio – this series has seriously gotten me so hyped up about the upcoming competitions! Also, with every book the author writes, her writing improves, and I have to say, I’m so impressed with her ability to create such lust/hate between her main characters. This series is one of the best sports romance series I’ve ever read, and if you love reading that genre, the Summer Games is a must read. Out of Bounds is such an amazing enemies-to-lovers romance. Just a fair warning before you start it though – you are going to be in such lust/hate with Erik right alongside Brie, you’ll need a fan as you read!

Elite Gymnastics is only for the best of the best.
The pressure is intense.
The skills necessary are daunting.
Injuries can’t exist.
But to be the best…to reach the pinnacle in gymnastics, gymnasts must not only qualify for the Summer Olympics, but also do everything possible to bring home the gold and become a household name because that’s what makes EVERYTHING worth the pain…worth the sacrifices…worth the loneliness that comes with spending over 12 hours in a gym 365 days of the year.
Brie Watson and her new gymnastic coach for the Olympics, Erik Winter, do not need any distractions. They both have a lot riding on the Summer Olympics in Rio. Brie’s goal for gold is about so much more than just her - she’s living out her dream as an elite gymnast due to her mom’s sacrifices and selflessness, so Brie wants to repay her mother by helping her to no longer struggle or work so hard. Erik Winter has always been in his father’s shadow, as a gymnast and now as a coach, and what makes things worse is that Erik and his father do not get along nor do they see eye to eye on what Erik should be doing with his 5 Olympic gymnasts.
There’s a lot on the line for both Brie and Erik, so the fact that they push one another’s buttons and play games with each other that will never have a clear winner is not something they have any business doing - too bad the fact that they are playing with fire is not going to stop them, though, because neither of them will back down…neither of them will surrender - they’ve lit a fuse that will only be extinguished with one of them walking away and losing their heart or both of them realizing that what started off as a distraction…as a game…has turned into something that neither is willing to give up despite the risks they’re taking by being together.
Out of Bounds is quite a bit different than R.S. Grey’s usual storylines, which works well because Brie and Erik are not her typical characters. This story is filled with a heavy dose of ANGST, and while Brie and Erik’s actions and reactions drove me absolutely mad and frustrated me to no end, eliciting that kind of response from readers is exactly what makes Grey a well-rounded writer - one who makes her readers feel absolutely EVERYTHING that her characters experience and regardless of which way those feelings sway, what’s clear is that what the characters go through resonate with readers right to their core.
I’ll admit…for most of the story, I couldn’t handle Erik’s hot/cold demeanor. His distant and indifferent attitude towards Brie didn’t sit well with me but neither did Brie’s need to continue to play this twisted game with Erik - a game that could ruin her in multiple ways. What made me be a bit more patient than I usually would be with a douche canoe of a character is the fact that R.S. Grey gives readers Erik’s perspective, so we see behind his frosty personality and understand a bit better why he acts the way that he does. I never completely thawed towards Erik, but I could recognize his struggle better with the insight Grey provides.
Brie has her own issues throughout the story, but because she had more to lose, I guess it was easier for me to understand why she would distance herself from Erik but then cling to any kind of meaningful interaction between them. The fact that she’s quite a bit younger than Erik also plays a role in her reactions, which is obvious by some of her more thoughtless actions.
Brie and Erik’s story is a whirlwind of emotions…the highs and lows that they experience both as athletes as well as lovers are complex and emotionally charged, which only adds to the investment that readers will have for the book. Everything about the storyline is explosive and that energy runs throughout the months leading up to Rio and the days of competition, setting Brie and Erik up to go for the gold in both their professional and personal lives, hoping they don’t end up off of the winners’ podium and out of each other’s lives.

Promise me, faithful readers, that as you read this book, you picture the cover model in your mind whenever Erik Winter is on the page. It will accentuate your reading experience.
R. S. Grey continues her The Summer Games series, following up Setting the Score (you get a glimpse of Andie and Freddie in this one) with the story of an Olympic gymnast and her coach. Theirs is the sort of relationship you always kind of wonder about existing between an athlete and coach: they want each other, but they don't want to want each other; they want to stay away from each other but they can't stay away from each other; they are terrified of their feelings but certain of them; and they are consumed by the thought of each other, even as they really wish that weren't the case.
Brie is not, perhaps a typical Olympic gymnast in that her path was not one of ease. The daughter of a single mother, Brie has only known financial hardship. She is ever aware of how much her mother has sacrificed for her, rising before dawn to work as a social worker yet always attending Brie's competitions. Gymnastics is expensive, especially at the elite level. For every gold medal Brie might win, she also gets $25,000 from the US Olympic Committee. That sort of money would be of tremendous help, and it would allow Brie to pay her mother back in some small way.
To say, then, that Brie feels pressure would be to considerably minimize her state of mind.
When she arrives in Seattle to practice with the newly anointed women's gymnastics coach, she does not expect Erik Winter. Tall, dark, broad-shouldered, smoldering Erik Winter. Their relationship begins badly, with each viewing the other through a negative lens. One thing is certain, though: Brie is attracted to Erik, as he is to her.
But he's her coach! They can't. But, oh, do they want to. Do they EVER want to.
Grey unveils the push and pull between these two, showing you from their perspectives how instinctively they are drawn to each other. She also shows you how terrified that makes them. Erik is older, and he has Issues. The last thing he needs, in this time that he must prove himself as worthy of coaching this team, is a distraction posted by Brie. She needs to wind gold - preferably multiple golds. Erik bends and distorts her focus, and she can't have that.
Grey increases the tension with more than just longing stares and fingers brushing up against each other. Erik and Brie occasionally act on their passions, which, of course, does nothing to minimize what they feel. There are times when Erik seems manipulative and almost cruel. (There is a particular scene involving a yoga class that needs more explanation from him: why did he behave as he did? His actions make me despise him, and they make me want to rescue Brie, even if this scene is SCORCHING HOT. I guess I want/need R. S. Grey to tell me what motivated Erik here.)
For the most part, though, Erik's apparent coldness and cruelty feels necessary for him. He risks more than his heart when it comes to Brie, and he fights against that.
As she has demonstrated in her other books, Grey can write the hot headboard rocking. When Brie and Erik get together, they score a perfect ten. (GET IT?) You'll find yourself thinking that it would be okay to sacrifice Olympic victories if it means more sexy times. Lest that make me shallow, again, I draw your attention to the cover. I couldn't say no. Could you?
Once you start reading this book, you will be irked over any cause to put it down. You will want to know what happens between Brie and Erik. You will want to know if he makes peace with his Issues. You will want to know if she finds financial respite for her mother. You will want to know about the supporting cast, as well.
This is a hot summer romance, colored with sweetness.

Its official!!....This has to be my favorite book so far of Grey!..The story line and characters were just perfection. Once I had opened the book to the first chapter I was the most unproductive human being the whole weekend, yes that's how my weekend actually happened. (No shame)
Erick and Brie story is electrifying and so well written. It was funny and the banter back and forth between these two head strong characters was just addicting to read. You got to love the spunk in female characters, and that's what Brie had. She was no push over...to say the least. This girl was more of you push her, she will push right back (And Hard!). Loved this girl. You know you have a winner in a book when the story just grabs you.
I knew that my excitement over this book was not exaggerated at all. And of course R.S. Grey did not disappoint. Over all this book is sexy, funny and very well written from start to finish. And if you are a loyal reader of Grey's books you will definitely know that this book will completely top the last one. And if your a Newbie like I was at one point, get ready for an amazing wild ride!!
Enjoy Kidos!!

A few adjectives for OUT OF BOUNDS: gripping, intense, scorching. Brie and Erik will take you on a roller coaster ride. They had that kind of dynamic that is just simply a pleasure for me to read, they truly loved to hate each other, it’s the most salacious kind of game to play in a romantic relationship and these two were pros at it.
Leave it to Rachel to create an incredibly driven and passionate athlete. Brie is not only kind, caring and selfless – not with Erik though – but tenacious and persistent, she knows how hard life can be and in Rio her eyes only see gold.
Erik knew exactly what buttons to push with Brie and vice versa, he’s the biggest prick and loves every second of it so don’t get him wrong. They were constantly battling with their feelings for each other like their life depended on it and so you can get a pretty good picture of this enemies-to-lovers-but-still-enemies story and how that came to play in every single interaction between them.
What I mostly loved about OUT OF BOUNDS is that the relationship between the characters was not that easy to read, normally there’s a stablished rhythm in romance novels, but Brie and Erik step out of what we know and what we’re used to and their whole relationship development was so deliciously infuriating you wont be able to resist them.
Thank you to the author who kindly provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

WOW!!! This book was smoking HOT!!! It had scenes in it that completely took me by surprise. I didn’t know that R.S. Grey had that much steaminess in her!! I LOVED every minute of it!!! Out of Bounds had all the elements that I have come to love with R.S. Greys books; it had the witty banter, the little bit of angst and the storylines and characters you instantly fall for. But this had so much more. It had an element of steam and taboo that took it to a whole other level. AND it worked out brilliantly!!! I devoured it in a sitting and will never look at yoga the same way again!!!

I really enjoyed this book. Ok, well honestly, I couldn't put it down. While some may think the main character, Brie, was a little immature, they need to remember she's only 20 and her life is literally always been about gymnastics. I felt the author did an amazing job at bringing in Brie's personality and insecurities to light. Because in all honesty, really, when haven't 20 yr old girls felt the way she did. Some of it may have been childish, but I guess I felt drawn to the characters flaws. I liked that the majority of the story was told from Brie's POV, but it was nice getting some of Erik's also.

Holy Smoke! Out of Bounds was seriously intense… HOT, HOT, HOT!
What an incredibly enjoyable read. Right in time for the summer Olympic game.
This is the first time I read R.S Grey books and I am totally in LOVE. Well, actually I read her 2 books back to back – Settling the Score first and then right into Out of Bounds. I like Settling the Score a lot but I LOVE LOVE Out of Bounds. I have to say Our of Bounds is my favorite probably because it's forbidden, angsty, enemy to lover romance :)
Brie is on her way to greatness. She is leading the women gymnastic team heading to the summer Olympic. Brie is all but 5’2’’ fire ball. She is determined to win not only the team gold but she craving each individual events more. Brie devoted her life to this sport so this is her chance to be the best; but Brie also carry a chip on her shoulder. Without a father figure, it’s Brie and her mom against the world. Brie’s mom sacrifices her life to make sure Brie has an opportunity to be a gymnast, pouring all the money into lessons and competitions. Most day, they are just scrapping by. Brie is desperate to win hoping with the win come a hefty amount of money and endorsements to set them up for a better life. Will the pressure be too much for young Brie? Can she excel or crumple under pressure? On top of that she got a brand new coach at training camp – will he be too much of a distraction?
Erik Winter is arrogant. He is handsome, talented and he knows it. I mean at 29 years old young, you don’t get appointed to train the best of the best gymnasts for no reason right? Erik is intense, intimidating and cruel. He has to have a huge side balls in order to deal with 5 hard-headed teenagers and veteran gymnasts. Erik sees something special in Brie and we are not talking just talents on the beams guys … Erik is attracted to Brie but he knows she is off limit – will that stop him though?
Well, I have to say the author did an incredible job with the characters and the plot. Not to mention Erik and Brie’s chemistry – did I mention uber sexy? The two of them are so much alike – both strong and short tempered which make for some explosive banters. Erik and Brie has a perfect love/hate, cat/mouse, passionate relationship. Everything about their relationship screams sensual maybe even erotic. There one scene in particular happened in the yoga room was very exciting. I see where the author is going with it – loosen up Brie a little but personally I was not feeling it … I would be more turned on if it was the two of them doing the deed in there :) but minor detail .... the whole scene is pantry dropping sexy and sexual just the same.
Over all, I really enjoyed this book. I think it is well written with a perfect combination of catching story line and superb writing. Out of Bounds is sexy, forbidden and full of angsts. Both main characters are likable, real. I also like Brie’s teammates with the exception of maybe one… she seems to have a stick up her butt the whole time. What a gorgeous sport romance!!! LOVED IT.
I am definitely looking forward to more books from R.S Grey.

Please RateThe Summer Games: Out of Bounds
R.S.GREY is one of my favorite writer (I read all the books and all highly recommended), this book is her second book that deals with the Olympics games, I could not put it down from my hands once I started reading until THE END.
