This was the first Jeremy Robinson book I've read, and I've been following him on twitter for a while. Once I picked it up, I could not put it down. Non-stop action, just like I like. Well written. Can't wait to finish Instinct and Threshold.

The books and story are great, the narrator is the worst.... he sounds like a computer voice someone typed the words in for and it read them back out. The cadence is horrific and monotonous. Accents and voices made me cringe, the only good thing is the story is so good I can zone out alittle to where I can ignore his voice and focus on what's happening at least for a bit. The fact that he's done more of the books makes me not want to purchase them because I work outdoors and listen to audio books and podcasts all day and this guys is literally the worst narrator I've ever listened too.

What a fun read. Very action-packed and very interesting story. I've read, and enjoyed, all his other books but this one had taken the cake as my favorite. The story was original, the characters believable, and the action was intense.

The book was delivered in the condition in which it was described, and the shipping time was quite appropriate. This was a gift for Christmas and everything appeared to be in fine condition so I was very pleased with the order I placed.

From the start of the story I was hooked. Robinson does a great job of keeping your interest from cover to cover. His writing style reminds me of James Rollins. I am looking forward to reading his next book in the Sigler series.

Pulse is a mix between Herodotus, Jurassic Park, 28 Days Later, and a sub-par Tom Clancy. The premise is interesting but Mr. Robinson needs to develop as a writer because as of now his prose is hackneyed and it would be overgenerous to say that his characters are cardboard cutouts lifted out of any cr*ppy video game or C movie. I had flashes of the A-Team (TV show not movie) running through my head as thousands of rounds are fired at our protagonists and not one is hit whilst they run amok and kill dozens of their foes. As to the villain, well, considering he is bald all that is needed for him to be Dr. Evil is a Nehru jacket and degree from Evil Medical School...I mean seriously, right down to the freakin' lair in a Volcano.

Again, the premise of the novel is very interesting and a lot of fun could have been had with it. The best parts are when Mr. Robinson exposes bits of the ancient back story and lets our imaginations run with it, the part regarding the ancient landing in Peru was easily the best in the book. The worst are the dialogue, character development, and, well, everything else.

Cool idea, crappy execution. Keep plugging at it.

I started this series without any expectations. I had just finished the series The Event Group Thrillers by David L. Golemon and was pleasantly surprised by the genre so I quickly looked up similar style books. After starting a few series by popular writers, I found that I was not drawn into the world or characters of the super duper elite fighting teams of detailed Special Forces. I knew that there had to be something that I could emerge myself into while carpooling to work on my van-pool. I soon found this series first book, Prime. I immediately found the characters individually entertaining and uniquely robust.

I really enjoyed all the locations that the team visits and the dangerous threats they must overcome together as a team. From ancient folklore to futuristic science, the team overcomes staggering odds that seem to project them into their next mission. With state of the art weapons and pure military instincts; Jack Sigler leads "Queen", "Rook", "Bishop" and "Knight" across the globe in action packed, after action packed adventures.

Each member of the team has his or her own unique set of character traits that is key to their individual call sign. These call signs are based on the game of chess. The villains and pawns are believable and help shoot you into "could be" and "what ifs". The chess piece names are perfect for the maneuvering of the characters the author defines through the team’s handler A.K.A. Deep Blue.

The missions the team embarks upon are based on genetic sciences and anomalies. Pure fantasy with a taste of realism that will grab your inner childhood dreams of fighting monsters and modified humans. After a few books I realized that there are parallel books that develop each individual team member according to their call sign. I did some research and had to stop reading the book I was on to go back and read the individual books. I had noticed that it seemed like I had missed an episode or fallen asleep during a movie and was trying to catch up. Once I deciphered the timeline order, I was off to the races!

I have to add that these books are quick reads and great for my attention span (which my wife says if that of a sixteen year old). Overall I have to say I've recommended this series to other people who enjoy a fantastical thriller with pseudoscience and cryptology running a muck in a world of mystery and suspense.

Rook. Knight. Queen. Bishop. These are the call signs for members of a five person special ops team, one of the most elite Delta force teams in operation. The fifth member is their leader, Jack Sigler, call sign "King". Turning suicidal missions into successful outcomes is just how they roll. But when a well earned, two week R&R break winds up with King unexpectedly on the wrong end of a gun and genetic terrorism becomes a threat on a scale no one could have imagined, King knows it's time to call in his personal cavalry.

"King didn't ask for help unless people were dead and someone had to pay for it."

I'd never heard of this series or this author. I picked up the book at the library on a whim, probably because it featured special forces team members as the main characters and I eat that stuff up, but I ended up really enjoying it. I've always been the type of girl who loves explosions, shoot outs, car chases, and high risk adventures. The type of high octane, over the top, suspension-of-disbelief-is-your-mantra action that belongs in a high budget summer action movie - the kind that is only meant for guilty pleasure consumption.

If Indiana Jones had been a highly trained military operative, it might look something like this, complete with old relics, shadowy organizations, and mythical/supernatural happenings. Admittedly the supernatural stuff threw me initially because I was expecting a more straight laced military story, but then I just sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed the ride. Along the way we get a little insight into the various members of this Delta team and I can only hope that more will be revealed. I loved their loyalty to each other and their banter. Will this story ever win major literary awards? I won't hold my breath, but for pure escapist fun it did its job and I can't wait to go on more odds-are-against-us covert missions with King and his awesome Chess Team.

When I found "PULSE" in a small bookstore in Oregon, I literally held "PULSE" against my chest and did a Happy Snoopy dance, much to the embarrassment of my daughter and strange looks from customers ! ! !

I eagerly devoured my new treasure in two days ! The characters are quite complex and bad-a**** ... each with their own unique set of deadly skills. I found myself walking amongst them ... experiencing the challenges, obstacles and emotions of each person...to include the evil ones ! ! !

This band of heroes goes above the call of duty to defeat a genetically created creature ...mythological in it's origin :).

Jeremy Robinson surpassed my expectations of PULSE. You desire action, compelling characters, mythology, killer weapons, a book that will make you think, leaving it's footprint in your memory for many days, months or longer, a heart thrilling experience, then I more than highly recommend PULSE !

EAGERLY AWAITING YOUR NEXT NOVEL MR. ROBINSON.

Put Jeremy Robinson or any of his other literary names on a book and when you open it and start reading you can't put it down. I've read and continue reading any and all of his publications. The balance between the real and fictional is amazing. Not being a truly religious person, he has even brought stories from the Bible into a light I very easily could make me a believer. His take on answering the questions that have no answers really make you think. I don't even know if this is his intentions. Read, discover and keep your mind open. My suggestion would be to read The Last Hunter series beginning with Antarkos Rising and watch how by the 3rd book starts bringing everything together.
Very Easy Reading.....

Well color me surprised. On a recommendation from a colleague, I put this book on the list and finally got to it last week. I was a bit wary of this author because of the inconsistent quality of two other novels he wrote before.

This book seemed to be a better version of the Dane Maddox series of stories by David Wood. I liked this series a bit better, as the characters were more interesting and the plot and background was more descriptive. Jeremy's story-telling ability in this book was a phenomenal improvement over Island 731 and Raising the Past. Ironically this book was an earlier work which means that his writing has gotten worse over time? Odd. I'll look forward to seeing if other books in this series can measure up to this one.

But yeah the story took an old, historical myth, built a fictional plot around it, and took the reader on a pretty exciting thrill ride. I enjoyed the whole thing and am pretty jazzed to read more.

This is an action packed thriller. If you like James Rollin's Sigma Force novels you will like like this series. The stars of the show is the Chess Team which goes into danger managed by Deep Blue - someone they speak to but never meet and don't know what he looks like. What they do know is he has lots of connections and seems to manage miracles in getting them what they need. In this adventure they are investigating a medical group. The group has kidnapped one of their friends. The goal of this group is eternal life and health. It turns out that their group is very covert with lots of resources while they secretly experiment on the drug to meet their goal. The team risks many dangers to recover their friend and save the world from monster once put down by Hercules. Can't wait to read the next in the series. Has great characters and action and plot.

Imagine "Clash of the Titans" meets "The A-Team" meets "The Bourne Identity" and you'll have an idea of what you're getting into here. Jeremy Robinson mixes so many ingredients that I worried this thriller would be mushy leftovers, but he balances the flavors with astounding ease and manages to serve up a rousing meal.

The Chess Team is a squad of Delta operatives, each of them using a tag name from the chessboard, and each of them deadly and well-trained. They are called into action when rumors surface of an ancient force unearthed in remote Peru. Why are Greek inscriptions found so far from Greece? Is it possible that Hercules was a real man, his name listed on the log of the sunken "Argo"--think "Jason and the Argonauts." The questions come pouring in quickly, leading toward the concept of the Hydra and immortality. If such a power existed, of course some mad scientist or capitalist would feel compelled to take control, and that's what happens in this book. The man at the reins needs the help of a Dr. Pierce to see his plans to fruition, and Pierce just happens to be a boyhood friend of Chess Team's King. Suddenly, the team's race to save mankind from horrifying consequences becomes personal.

It sounds like a mishmash, and it is. But it's a gloriously unfettered, fun-loving mishmash. This is not Vince Flynn trying to convince you with shallow details and characters. It's not Michael Crichton trying to convince you with scientific prowess. To his credit, Robinson's research is a lot deeper than it may seem on the surface, but he never lets that get in the way of his imagination. He brushes against some ethical issues of scientific research, then blasts away with all barrels and hopes you'll join him for the ride.

If you like chases, epic fights, weaponry, technology, and ancient conspiracies, you'll enjoy "Pulse." Sure, every woman is beautiful and every man is a fighting machine; sure, we would expect any average archaeologist to recognize Greek; and, yes, we see most of the surprises coming. Despite all that, I found myself caught up in this book's exuberance.

Well done, Jeremy. I'm looking forward to the "Instinct," due out any month now.

In Peru the mythological Hydra of Hercules' tasks fame is found in Peru alive though in some form of sleep. Manifold Genetic CEO Richard Ridley wants to awaken the deadly beast as he has a plan to use the creature's DNA to make humans immortal.

His firm steals the find and kidnaps the archaeologist associated with the dig Dr. George Pierce. He has the Hydra and the archeologist taken to a lab he set up on Tristan da Cunha, an island in the South Atlantic. The American government is concerned so it assigns Deep Blue to send in the elite of the Delta Force, the Chess Team unit headed Jack "King" Sigler and the rest of his "pieces" to invade and capture the Hydra and save the archeologist. They soon find themselves battling reengineered reptile like crawlers, and two and four legged beasts that regenerate body parts.

Combining mythology with Jurassic Park, PULSE is an over the top action-packed thriller that will have readers hooked from start to finish as one escapade leads to another and another, etc as the story line never takes a breather. The Chess Team unit knows anyone of them can be turned into an expendable pawn as the mission comes before their individual lives. Readers will enjoy the adventures of the King and his "pieces" as they try to prevent a potential pandemic catastrophe.

You may need to check your pulse while reading this fast paced, incredibly detailed adventure!!! We see Jack Sigler (code name: King) and his Chess Team get pitted up against Richard Ridley, founder of Manifold Genetics. Through Manifold, Ridley uses science & mythology to unleash hell on Sigler and company.

Ridley tries to create an army of super-soldiers who can heal immediately and never die. The Chess Team, who are brought together by their super secret handler Deep Blue, and are asked to take down Manifold and stop Ridley.

You will not be able to put down this intense novel, even if you wanted too.

Fast + smart + mythology + a little humor = AN AMAZING START to an AMAZING series!

An elite team of agents, each named after chess pieces, are called in to assist one of their own in Peru. When the remains of the legendary Hydra creature are found, a ruthless entrepreneur seeks to use its genes to create a means of regeneration and immortality. But the initial tests, cause nasty side effects in their experiments, creating monstrous killing machines.

Pulse combines advanced genetics and mythology, to make a thrilling adventure of massive proportions. The story is fast-paced and action-packed. It read a bit like watching an action film, not much character depth but plenty of gun, explosions, killing, and dismemberment.

I picked this one up for a change of pace from my usual science fiction/fantasy stock, and was more than impressed with Robinson's writing style and flare for suspense. Fans of James Rollins and similar thriller writers should enjoy this edge-of-your-seat adventure. The Chess Team is off to a great start.

When you read Pulse, you have to suspend your belief system. It's one of those fun book you need to just sit back and enjoy and not think too much about reality. Since the book involves an elite military fighting force, you can expect a lot of action and detailed descriptions of the soldiers weapons. It took me a while to identify with the characters because Jeremy Robinson used call signs rather than real names, which for me took away from the individuals in the story. But that wasn't what the story was about. It was to establish the Chest Team and the world the author was creating. And knowing Pulse is book one in a series, I realized that getting to know the four member team will come with each book.

If you're looking for a quick, fun read, Pulse is for you. I will definitely look for more books in the series in the near future.

I was led to read this book by the recommendation from another author. Having not read any of Mr. Robinson's books before, I was totally shocked to see that there was a talent here far above my wildest expectations. With some great science and some "science licence" he has spun a yarn that will thrill readers with a fabulous story.

His characters are real and yet have their well thought out human flaws which make them just that much more believable. There are some fabulous twists and turns that just make it a book you do not want to put down.

I often complain that there are way too many wasted words that many authors can't get out of their own way using, but here every one is important and beautiful incorporated into the story making it an easy read.

I have been telling everyone I know to go out and buy this book right away.

After just reading Jeremy Robinson's PULSE, my husband and I think it is the 2nd best novel that he has written thus far.

Our favorite still being Antarktos Rising.

But this 1st in a seemingly new series reminded us strongly of James Rollin's SIGMA FORCE series. Although a wee bit more character-driven than Matthew Reilly's action-packed novels, Robinson still doesn't have the character depths of Rollins.

But his pacing is terrific! Never boring, PULSE races along with a Matthew Reilly's novels, but this new Chess Team is a little too one-dimensional. Hopefully further adventures will add more depth to them.

But PULSE is written like it should be a Hollywood action movie. We liked the historical aspects of the novel, utilizing Greek mythology. Hercules has always been a colorful character, and Robinson builds a hidden society that has built around this strongman mythical character.

And like all classic action series, PULSE has created a central, secret enemy group - the Herculean Society - like G.I. Joe's COBRA or Bond's SPECTRE - they cannot be eliminated in one book. Robinson leaves the book open for more adventures with this secret bad guy society.

But the problems with this novel really stood out for us. Which is the way in which the Chess Team reacted to the ghostly-like wraiths and the monster Hydra itself.

They acted like they have seen these types of otherworldy types before. But they haven't! And so, therefore, they should have reacted by asking lots of questions. Such as - what is a wraith? How can these ninja-like beings move inhumanly fast and crawl on walls? But they only react to them, and never try to figure out just what they are, or where did they come from.

And when faced with the elephant-sized monster of the many-headed hydra, they don't seem terrified at all. Just try to imagine a monster of this caliber, with the power to regenerate itself from major wounds. And the mere fact that it is a living, breathing, multi-headed monster rampaging about, killing tons of people.

But the Chess Team just react to it. Nothing more.

And the editing of the book could have been much better. Lots of misspelled words.

For fast pacing and a fun read, we give this a full 5 stars.

For characterization we give it a 3 star.

For overall story development and concepts we give it a 4 stars.

Although there is room for improvement, Jeremy Robinson's 1st Chess Team adventure is a fun-filled thrill ride. We will look forward to his next novel.

Greek mythology has always been one of my interests, both personally and academically, so when I first spotted the cover of PULSE adorned with what appeared to be the Hydra my interest was immediately piqued. When read the summary on the jacket I also realized that the Chess Team would also appeal to one of my other guilty pleasures, playing Call Of Duty. Now that I have finished reading the book I am pleased to report that both areas of interest were both satisfied and left craving more.

After reading KRONOS I found that Robinson's writing style appealed to me, so I then read ANTARKTOS RISING and PULSE. His characters, particularly the protagonists, have depth and believability, while at the same time showing flaws and weaknesses that prevent them from becoming infallible supermen (and women). The antagonists too are complex characters, at times appearing benevolent among the right cliques, but driven by ruthless ambition to achieve their nefarious goals. In speaking of the Chess Team in particular, they are five elite soldiers, some of which are social misfits, all of which bear emotional baggage. The common thread of hardship adds strength to their bond, as each empathizes with their teammates' pasts and they lean on one another for support on and away from the battlefield. Thus their bonds are intimate, though plutonic. However, there are allusions in this book that future books may yield a pairing between Queen and someone not named King.

Regarding the plot, the story is fast paced but seamless. There are no fluff chapters, leaving long lapses in interest. Rather, while it is certainly not all action, which would become monotonous and unbelievable, every chapter has value and keeps the reader's attention. The chapters themselves are manageably short, allowing readers to keep up with the story in snippets when only minimal time is available, but exciting and entertaining when one can simply sit back and sidle up with the book.

If you have not read Robinson's work then do not hesitate to pick up this book. With the third book in the series set to release at the end of this month you can read PULSE, follow it up with the equally riveting INSTINCT, and grab THRESHOLD as soon as it hits the shelves.

The Chess Team has battled its fair share of monsters, albeit monsters of the human variety. Nothing can prepare Special Forces Commander Jack Sigler ("King") and his team for the mythical nightmare they will soon face.

An ancient relic has just been discovered in Peru that contains the DNA of the legendary Hydra monster that was defeated by Hercules himself. Richard Ridley, head of Manifold Genetics, sets out to distract the DNA in order to bio-engineer an army of soldiers that have the ability to regenerate, thus making them immortal. The Chess Team is tasked with stopping Ridley before he can get his plans off the ground. If only it were that easy...

I love it when I discover a new author that knocks my socks off and leaves me wondering how or why they have previously flown under my radar. That's exactly what was going through my mind when I tore through Pulse with reckless abandon.

Jeremy Robinson's writing leaps off the page with his over the top characters, awesome action scenes, and stunning locations. This is pure adventure escapist fiction and as other reviewers have pointed out, all of the woman are gorgeous, all the men are bulked out GQ models, and all of the villains are as a nasty as can be. And Robinson's writing is so great that we don't even care.

The thriller genre is bursting at the seams with authors trying to make their mark with their own unique style. Jeremy Robinson is a breath of fresh air in a genre that is at times saturated with unoriginality and cookie cutter plots. This guy is the real deal and deserves his share of the spotlight.

Loved this book, so much.

What do Hercules, the Hydra, the US president, a Delta black ops unit, an evil scientist slash wealthy villain and page upon page upon page of non stop action have in common?

Pulse!

A real page turner, Pulse starts off with a little history regarding the Hydra and then it's a thrill ride for the reader, right to the very end of the book.

Utterances such as "whoa!" "what the heeeeeeellllll?" and other comments in this vein, from the reader, are perfectly acceptable.

After finishing the Joe Ledger series I had thought this would be a great next series to dive into, but I was very dissapointed. All of the characters are just brimming with "action hero" qualities that are so over the top as to ruin the narrative in my mind. Plenty of plot points are extremely contrived and often show inconsistencies in the logic and ethos of the characters.

I understand this is technically science fiction, but the book just comes so off the rails by the midway point it is hard to get excited or nervous for the "chess team" as some sort of deus ex machina or literal myth turned real always seems to dramatically alter the stakes.

Even the supporting characters (the old Vietnam vet at the dock is a perfect example) almost feel like a bad screenplay for a B movie about Gi Joes.

I honestly finished this book just to see how poorly it would all (surely) wrap up nicely and of course it didn't miss that mark. Hurray all the bad guys get theirs in the end and the impossible super hero squad lives to fight another cliche filled day!

What happens when an ancient Greek myth is actually a truth? The famed creature of lore, the Hydra is not only real but is dormant and found. Enter the ruthless billionaire whose genetics firm will stop at nothing to unlock the secrets of eternal life through harvesting the Hydra's DNA. Such a project has introduced the new science of regeneration. To stop the vicious project, Delta Force's Chess Team is called in to investigate and stop the diabolical plans. This is the first novel featuring the Chess Team (each member is named after a chess piece).A great read with non-stop action and a band of heroes that will have you impatiently waiting for the next Chess Team adventure.

Like many Jeremy Robinson fans, I was introduced to his writing through his first, self-published time traveling novel, 'The Didymus Contingency' and LOVED it. The idea of creating an action/adventure tale set around time travel that also happens to feature the Son of God?? Who could have conceived the success that followed? I have known that 'Pulse' has been in the works for quite some time now, and after finishing 'Kronos' I was really chompin' at the bit for this one.

Guess what? Jeremy Robinson does NOT disappoint. With each successive story you literally can SEE the improvements happening to his immense storytelling creativity and talent...and they are on FULL display here, I assure you. Who could map out even a semi-believable story featuring Greek Mythology and modern genetics and weave them together in such a way that doesn't make it sound silly? I'll tell you who: Jeremy Robinson. While I am NOT a geneticist, the obvious research that went into this novel is quite apparent and I am sure someone who knows far more than I do about the possibility of genetic organ regeneration can spot (if any) some flaws--but I certainly couldn't. It was hard to say where actual technology left off and wild imagination began in some places.

Oh, and the action?? Well 'Pulse' has been compared to Matthew Reilly's books as of late, and although I don't believe Jeremy came too close to the all-out adrenaline/steroid rush of Reilly, he certainly comes within throwing distance...and for someone like me, that is really great news.

Action, suspense and a great deal of 'What If' seems to play a central role here in 'Pulse'...in fact, if I were to compare this to anything else available, I'd say it's a cross between X-Files, Indiana Jones and Rainbow Six. I simply LOVED 'Pulse' from the first page and for those out there looking for the next Action King to spend some time with, you would be making a smart move to get to know Jeremy Robinson NOW--oh yeah, and go pick up his earlier stuff, too...you won't be wasting a single penny.

Kudos to Jeremy...now, enough playing around--get back to work on that sequel!!

If you enjoyed early James Rollins, then you'll also enjoy this book.

I really love books that have just enough science in them for me to forget they're fiction. In this case, it's the quest for regenerating missing limbs and organs. The hydra, with its ability to regrow a severed head, tied right in and was a perfect "beasty" for the story.

I'm usually disappointed in books with flesh-eating zombies, but the regens were well done and fit the story line well. So no negative points for using them as part of the supporting cast.

The action from Delta team kept me turning pages until the end. I loved Reilly's Scarecrow books, but team Scarecrow was a little too super-human. Delta team is more believable and I can just read and enjoy without rolling my eyes.

I have to really love or hate something to write a review. I've enjoyed all of Robinson's books, but this one is the best yet.

What can I say ... Pulse is another masterpiece from one of the most gripping and interesting writers I came across with after Michael Crichton. Jeremy's imagination and fast-pace narrative will keep your reading desire fulfilled every time. In this Jack Singler adventure, genetics, history and the mysteries left in this world are wonderful ingredients for making this an exciting book. Loved every chapter :)

All I can say is, forget the summer blockbusters; pop some popcorn and settle in with this thrill ride. Pulse is the first novel to feature the Chess team, five elite military operatives named for, you guessed it, chess pieces and guided by the mysterious and seemingly omniscient figure known as Deep Blue. In their first outing, the mission is personal as King, the team leader, sets out to rescue his closest friend, archaeologist George Pierce, from the clutches of Richard Ridley, a megalomaniacal villain who needs Pierce to help him unlock the secret of a mythical monster that may hold the key to immortality.

The action moves around the globe as King and his team race to catch up with Ridley before he can decipher the genetic blueprint of the legendary Hydra, a creature capable of regenerating from any injury. But Ripley, armed with unlimited resources and the latest in technology and guarded by a team of testosterone crazed military wash-outs, manages to stay one step ahead of them, even as he unleashes the failed products of his experimentation on an unsuspecting world.

This novel is the perfect blend of monsters, myth and mayhem. It's a high-tech shoot-'em-up that doesn't go completely over the top (like some I won't name here) but stays grounded in plausible science, with good guys you care about and villains you love to hate. This weekend, skip the cinematic CGI and grab a copy of Pulse for a few hours of real entertainment. Just be careful to wipe the popcorn butter off your fingers before you turn the next page.

When it comes to reading books, I have two criteria: 1. is it entertaining 2. do I like the main character(s). On both counts, I have to say 100% yes. Jeremy Robinson is an excellent author, in my opinion. The authors I struggle the most with are the ones who seem to like to add content that really serves no purpose other than to increase page count or because they like to view themselves as being "deep."

This book was a great thrill ride. I liked the historical angle of the story. I liked all of the characters. I enjoyed the pace of the story. I really liked everything about it. If you enjoy books that are action packed and fun, then run out and get it. If you are a fan of extremely verbose and self-important literature, then you might want to move on... but I still think you would like it anyway.

This is a first rate wild ride action thriller with outlandish creatures and extreme characters. However I disagree with reviewers who criticize Robinson's prose style. This book is, in my opinion, better written than many others in this genre. I find Robinson's character writing more compelling and his stories more imaginative than many of his peers. His prose style is inventive and lightning fast with great visualization. However the violence was a bit gratuitous for my taste. If you require hard scientific believability, then look elsewhere. If you want an entertaining story that drives at breakneck speed, then give this a try.

Pulse (A Chess Team Adventure) by Jeremy Robinson

Take what you love from Indiana Jones, throw that through a James Rollins/Matthew Reilly grinder and then add a sprinkling of equal parts Michael Crichton and a wee bit of mythological beasts and what you'd get is Jeremy Robinson's Pulse - a highly entertaining, action packed novel!

I really enjoyed this quick read. You've got your super elite military team, The Chess Team. You've got your super evil villain doing super evil things, manipulating good people to do the aforementioned super evil things for him. And then you've got your super huge beast straight out of Greek Mythology. You've got a lot and you're going to have a lot of fun with it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys any of the aforementioned authors.

I got hooked on Jeremy Robinson after reading Kronos and Raising the Past (both 5 star books!) and was not disappointed by the first Chess Team Adventure, Pulse. Jeremy puts plenty of twist and turns, and near deities from the past to keep anyone interested. I look forward to his next release...and hope to see the mysterious character from the Cave in future books too.

If you're looking for a great action adventure book like those of James Rollins or Matthew Reill to finish out the summer, grab up Pulse!

I was introduced to Jeremy Robinson after recommending a few Matthew Reilly books to some co-workers. They had just finished Pulse and let me give it a whirl. From the moment I started reading it, I could not put it down. Pulse is a very fast paced military thriller that mixes the Chess Team (Delta outta Ft. Bragg) with Greek Mythology. The action is almost non-stop and the ending will have you wanting more. I'm very excited to see that the follow-up for Pulse is getting ready to be released. If you are a fan of Matthew Reilly, James Rollins, or Steve Alton, this book is for you!

This is my first Jeremy Robinson novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A mixture of James Rollins and Tom Clancy. The strange and mysterious versus the clandestine and military operative. If you like an ongoing adventure mixed with history and military ops, then this book is for you.

A novel along the lines of Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry. Seem idea, a crack team of soldiers, fighting against unstoppable foes. Whilst this novel treads very familiar ground, it carries of the story with a great deal more success than Mayberrys work. This is a work of pure pulp escapism, a reccomeneded read for fans of this genre.

Hold on to your seats for the absolute thrill ride that is Jeremy Robinson's PULSE. Special op's...genetics gone awry...mythological creatures... Pure action from start to finish. This is a rapid read that you will not want to put down! Jeremy Robinson introduces the reader to the Chess Team...and I cannot wait for the next telling of their adventures! Reading PULSE is like watching a summer movie blockbuster - with all the twists, turns, and fun that one would expect from such a film. And with the price of going to the movies these days, the cost of the book provides a much greater return on investment!
