Was somewhat disappointed in the latest Cussler book! It was dull and unlike earlier books of which I've read most! Hope whatever follows has more "James Bond" type activities like the earlier Cussler books! I remain a fan however, always hoping! Everyone who writes has ups and downs and guess this is just the latter.

Good luck.

Clive Cussler is one of my favorite authors! Joining him in writing the book was Jack DuBrul which made the joint effort exciting to write; I'm sure! When I don't have to read for work I find this genre my favorite! I'm still waiting for another movie like Saharra! Keep up the excellent writing & I'll keep reading with my Kindle or Nook!

After the first 2 books in the Oregon Series sank, I was ready to never read any future Oregon books. After hearing that Jack DuBrul was at the helm, I read two of his previous books in the Mercer series, and fell head-over-heals for another writer. I couldn't wait to read Dark Watch. STUPENDOUS!!! He gave the characters the depth to make them likeable and believable, and threw in some passion, thank God.

Cussler is such a great adventure writer. This story was intriguing and suspenseful, having you on the edge the whole way. Totally plausible in this world of limited resources and the solution to solving this lack.

If you know Cabrillo and his Oregon crew, this is them in the element. It's like an action adventure with this team fighting the fights we dream about, on our behalf.

The biggest one yet I think.

Thoroughly enjoyed 95% of the book. Plot was fanciful but just enough reality to make it just believable.
My main frustration is with the ending and most of Clive's books are the same in that he finishes the main plot and then very quickly wraps up the loose ends and leaves you feeling somewhat let down with the ending

I am addicted to The Oregon Files series and "Dark Watch" does not disappoint! This is not deeply profound literature but, it is a great thriller for pure escape reading. I appreciate the details provided describing the ship and the multitude of colorful characters that create the back drop for these tales. The plot is just convoluted enough to provide a few mild surprises but remains predictable enough to avoid frustration. Cussler has enough knowledge regarding black ops, terrorist techniques, paramilitary operations and geo-politics to make these stories almost believable. I would recommend this book to any who enjoy thriller/intrigue/adventure stories.
