Too much descriptive detail on locations when it did not come into play for the operations. Switched locations and added personnel so much had to think back as to who they were and what they were doing.

For those of you ripping Cussler for this book, be aware that HE DID NOT WRITE IT. Cussler is the 'Creative Director' for these books, which means he provides the basic story and outline, and then Graig Dirgo actually writes the book.
I think this is actually the best of the books Dirgo has co-authored.
And for all you whiners out there, Trojan Odyssey will be Cussler's last Dirk Pitt novel, so these books be all that's left after that.

I always enjoy the history incorporated in theses books. The way the crew of the Oregon work together and care for each other make me enjoy the story all the more I'll keep reading and listening to The Oregon tales.
Dark Watch (The Oregon Files) :: Corsair: Oregon Files #6 (The Oregon Files) :: Night Probe! (Dirk Pitt Adventure Series) :: The Striker: An Isaac Bell Adventure, Book 6 :: A Kurt Austin Adventure (A Novel from the NUMA Files

It is interesting to watch Cussler skil develope, or rather his ability to paint a picture of the Oregon and her adventures as the series progresses. It is best to read the oregon files in order written as if you do it backwards you will be more and more dissapointed as you read. Going foreward each book is dramaticly better than the previous.

It just followed a logical path thru the entire book. Nothing was a surprise, . . not up to Cussler standards. If you want a collection of his books buy it, if you want it for the great read that Clive is noted for, skip it.

Anything Clive Cussler writes is unbelieavable adventure and so well written you can't put the books down. I have all of his hardback books and would never give one up. Funny they are mens adventure but I am a 68 year old female who loves to be involved in reading great books. Beth Anne
