Clearly written, in appropriate language for kids, and it stays true to Scripture. We've read all the way through with our son from age 9 to 10, and have now moved on to the Action Bible. It does have B/W illustrations, if I recall correctly...

The stories themselves are amazing and worth 5 stars. It includes all of the main stories. Where this book falls short, though is the quality. The pages are so thin that they rip when turning the page. Add in the roughness of a 3 year old and the book only lasted us about 6 weeks.

This book is both incorrect and a little scary! Its a little hard to read. Makes it out like God is wizard casting spells to kill everyone on earth. My five yr was crying by the 5th page.

On to the next.

These are short, easy to read stories from all parts of the bible. I didn't read it to a small child but used it to remind me of old well, know bible stories. I am much later in life and I enjoyed reading 5 or so stories a night.

These stories are from old testament - is what I believe. All are one page long, but some appear to be too short. They seem to miss many details. These stories are for a quick reading to get a feel of the Bible, or tell to children. Children can ask questions, so one should be prepared to tell the missing details.
Many stories promote violence and intolerance to other religions - not the book's fault. The book just presents what is there and does its job. So one should use his own judgment on which story to be told and which should be skipped. Pre-reading a story before telling will therefore be beneficial.
After reading few stories it feels that this book is going nowhere. Same kind of stuff appears to be repeating. To some intelligent children it can become boring eventually. If this happens to a reader then the book probably will be abandoned before completion.

Good for little ones - the stories are summarized and easily understood, yet not dumbed-down. Doctrinally sound. The pictures are realistic instead of cartoonish. I do wish there was one picture per story.
