You can probably find everything that this books contains by searching "5:2 diet" on the internet. I really didn't discover anything new that I hadn't already read by searching the internet about this diet. But for people who want it all the info consolidated, this is for you.

Good book that clearly explains the components of this eating plan. On this diet for three week and down 14 pounds. Really has transformed the way I make food choices as I opt for healthier options automatically. Really has made a difference in how I shop as reading the nutrition information is a must for me now.

Regardless of which book you read, this approach to weight loss really works. All weight loss requires eating fewer calories than you require to maintain your current weight. What this approach does is make it doable. You can't really diet all the time without going crazy, and it is tough to reduce daily intake enough to make a difference. However, if you cut your calories to 600 or so on so called "fast days" you can eat normally on other days and still lose weight. In fact, two fast days per week is recommended and 600 calories per fast day amounts to about 1 granola bar and 2 cans of Healthy Choice soups. Not that strenuous, but trying. As some experts say any diet will work if you stick with it. The 5/2 approach makes it doable over the long haul without the anxiety of dieting constantly and then getting so ravenous you eat like crazy and gain it all back. I've found that after a while, I can choose a fast day at random and feel good about cutting back to maybe 800 or 900 calories and that works to cut back any extra calories and weight gain from a day of excess eating. This book makes the case for this diet and reveals the logic behind it with tips on how to make it happen. If you follow this approach, you will lose weight and only time will tell if it stays lost for good.
The 5/2 approach is really a recipe for life. You will feel less hungry much of the time because calorie restriction tends to reduce your overall hunger and maintaining normal eating days tends to eliminate wild cravings. As they say, try it, I think you'll like it.

I am shocked at how easy and "reachable" this book is. Most nutrition books seem to be written for scientists or people who appear to have hours and hours per day to measure stuff out and keep track of things. Not me! This book rang true for me personally - but may not be for everyone. In addition, when I discussed it with my partner - who has a PHD in nutrition - he told me that the concepts were solid.

My intention was to buy another book about this eating style but after reading the reviews I decided to go with Kate's version, and I am so pleased I did.
I didn't really think I was capable of eating this way so I was pretty sceptical to start with. I read the book completely first, then mulled over a lot of what Kate and the other contributors said, and concluded perhaps it was possible I could do this. The great thing about this book is that it gives you some advice ahead of how you're likely to be feeling and ways to get through it, and best of all, it works!
I, like so many other overweight people have spent years looking for that magic solution to losing weight, and keeping it off. I've found that in this book.
I have been eating this way for a month now and I'm not disillusioned, because it's only one day at a time, you can eat what you like the next day, and I'm loosing weight and feeling better than I have in ten years.
This book delivers on it's promises, is well written and I'm so glad I purchased it.
Thank you Kate for being such a great inspiration.

Excellent book, easy to read and good suggestions for managing the diet and fitting this into your life. Would highly recommend it as a reference book when doing the diet as gives good tips on snacks and easy meals to cook.

In a nutshell, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to lose weight and eat healthy at the same time. It has been a Godsend to me and I thoroughly love this way of life now. Have been doing it for a couple of months.

I like that this book was delivered quickly considering that I live in Australia. Very fast postage. I found it to be informative but too chatty for my liking and had to wade through all that to get to the facts.

The book was easy to read, guidelines easy to follow. The bad thing is since it was written by an English woman, many of the foods she talked about are not available where I live...but I was able to make substitutions.

This book gives you all the information needed to try the 5:2 diet. It is an easy read and Kate Harrison's own experiences with that form of eating are entertaining as well asgood to know. I really liked this book.

This book is poorly written and edited, typos and weird typefaces. It's a mess. But more importantly, it doesn't say much... sounds like an attempted rehash of the Dr. Mosley / Mimi Spencer the Fast Diet (which is great and I highly recommend it). She's not particularly entertaining or humorous. I didn't attain any great suggestions or knowledge, except she recommended the phone app, My Fitness Pal, to keep track of your calories, which is a very good app. That's the only thing I found of benefit in this book. To be honest, it was so bad I didn't even finish it. Another good book if you want a diet book for this diet, and don't really like to cook much is the 5:2 Fast Diet Recipe Book by Jacqueline Whitehart. Simple and to the point. However, pass on this book.

I bought this book because I wanted more information than I could get from a few internet articles about the concept of intermittent fasting. While its true that the basic concept takes only a few paragraphs to describe (if that), I wanted to know about the science and success rates of people on this diet. Reading this book gave me this information, and more. For example, I now know the reasoning behind the general "fast day" advice . . . 500 calories for women, 600 for men. This is a simple lifestyle and a flexible one. Once you have learned the basics, you really don't need to read any more.

Does it sound like I should have given this five stars? Well, it isn't great literature, and it could be a little heavier on the science. However, it likely will tell you everything you need to know about the 5:2 diet.

This was a wonderful introduction to the 5:2 eating plan. I actually ordered the hard copy of original book and haven't read through it yet. I loved that Kate had experienced the plan and her enthusiasm.

Very helpful. I've tried other methods of dieting to little avail. The 5:2 diet quickly became 4:3 for me. And its working! The middle bulge is beginning to diminish.
The advice in the book is sound. I found I could stick with the eating regime knowing I can eat what I want most of the time. I can persevere with the fast days knowing its temporary. But the cumulative effect has been great. I'm starting to move weight I haven't been able to budge in previous diets. 2 kgs of stubborn weight in 2 weeks. Amazing. Thank you.

I have not actually started this diet because I have 50 lbs to
lose and I am doing the 1200 calorie a day first. However,
once I get to my goal weight I intend to do this to keep my
weight off. It sounds like it';s something that's do able.

I am concerned that many may get confused with the actual book about the 5:2 "fast" based on the UK TV series Horizon and if so they will be disappointed. However, for a few pointers as to how to get the most out of this very easy non diet, diet, it is worth a read.
