Jack has created a down on your luck protagonist whose main goal is to see his kids regularly. However, the road to that is filled with perilous situations that Austin gets into, but the best part is watching to see whether he can extricate himself out of it all.

This is such a fun read that you have to laugh at the capers our protagonist is pulled into. The writing is wonderfully-stated and the mystery of how it will all end is played out throughout the pages in the fast-paced and action-fill drama. With playful humor, engaging dialogue and a likable protagonist, I enjoyed this adventure and I look forward to more exciting exploits with Austin Carr.

Who knew financial shenanigans could be so much fun? Salacious, smartass stockbroker Austin Carr is financially and morally in the red, but he has a winning smile that like Colt 45 works every time--well, almost every time. Carr gets involved with the proverbial rich man’s wife and winds up in proverbial trouble. But Jack Getze has created a singular character in Carr, who is immediately alive on the page and fascinating to follow. BIG NUMBERS is a funny, bawdy, fast-moving read that will also make you hungry for Mexican food.

I received this book free in exchange for a review from the author through Goodreads.

Austin Carr has hit the bottom of the crap pile. He's divorced, making less than half his pay, lost his apartment, lost his fancy car, can't see his kids because he's not paying child support and lives in a rusted out truck camper. Now, his biggest client's wife is hitting on him and he's thinking with the wrong head.

Every step he takes someone else is crapping on him.

This story is a hilarious caper of just a few days in the life of this guy. Every corner he turns, there is someone else out to get him, the ex has called the cops on him because he's at a kid's game or he's in the emergency room.

This kind of reminded me of a Carl Hiassen novel with the antics and the poor protagonist who just can't get a break.

I would definitely recommend this book!!!

This book is a gem. Tightly written with a smartmouth stockbroker/protagonist, it begs to be read in one sitting. The beginning sets up the end and you are guessing the whole time. Could it be Psycho the wrestler? Could it be the sales manager? What about the host of other thugs and sinister personalities? I ain't telling.

Austin Carr lives in a camper. It's not what you call glamorous, especially when you have to wear a football helmet to keep your head from getting banged on the ceiling. He cleans up well, though, enough to sell stocks and securities during the day at a brokerage firm and at night to date what looks like a beautiful rich woman. How does he pull this off? It helps to be disarmingly honest, brazenly confident, and clever. It doesn't help when other people want you dead. My own personal rule for mysteries is that the Bad Person is always the one you least suspect. I won't say if my rule held, but don't read this book if you have to be somewhere. Getze is a find. Can't wait for the next one.

Big Numbers delivers a fast mystery read with a little sex, violence, and securities fraud to keep it interesting. Divorced dad/securities broker/camper dweller Austin Carr is down on his luck partly due to a greedy ex-wife and partly due to his own consistently bad choices. He's a funny guy who you can't help but enjoy, even if you know in real life you'd want to kick his ass between his teeth.

You'll start reading Big Numbers and before you know it, you'll be laughing at the wonderfully flawed Austin Carr. And then you'll look around wondering whether it's okay to laugh. Then you'll read more. And laugh more. Big Numbers is a gem of a story from a great story-teller.

Loved it! Easy reading, exciting and sexy. I was not quite sure if I was #teamAustinCarr or not from the jump, but after half an hour I was gripping my seat rooting for this down on his luck Jersey Guy. Highly recommend!

The ups and downs of the stock market are nothing compared to the downs of stock broker, Austin Carr in Jack Getze's Big Numbers. Austin's life is ready for a takeover and his biggest client's wife is prepared to use all her assets to get her to invest everything, including his life, in her future. Getze invested just the right words to keep the reader entertained in this fun, action filled read.

This book is flat out hilarious! It follows in the footsteps of (highly accredited) Stephen Freys* stock market and financial intrigues but in a much lighter tone. I'm ordering his other book Big Money today!

If you haven't already enjoyed Stephen Freys' excellent book check him out too!

Austin Carr is the kind of character it takes nerve to write: morally imperfect, struggling with self-inflicted troubles, often choosing the low ground.
That's why Austin Carr feels real.
And he's on the ride of his life. He's squeezed, under pressure, chased, seduced, beat up, even strapped to a giant bluefin tuna. And we are with him all the way.
Served up with an edginess reminiscent of good noir, sprinkled with a salty dash of pulp fiction plot twists, and delivered in a sardonic voice that bites like the afterburner of a Herradura Gold shooter, Jack Getze hands us a new series it's impossible to ignore.
I can't wait to read the next one.

This novel perfectly balances light and darkness; it is gripping and funny. Just when the main character Austin Carr thinks he's caught a break, a way out of his troubles, well things aren't what they seem. He's got to navigate his way around the curves, which are never-ending. Everyone I've recommended this book to has loved it. If you like humorous mysteries with a dark edge, this story is for you.

This first book got me hooked quick; from the plot, to the entire mystery and the best part is Austin Carr, the detective and lead of this story. I cannot wait to read the next one, once its available, because this book blew me away.
