The story was great at first...like many others I was lead on to read it because the summary fascinated me. Everything was good till the cruelty and ignorance of Jamie's family began to become overwhelming. Jamie herself was also irritating me. One moment she's a hard worker, the next she was constantly being treated like crap by her family playing a submissive loser role and then all of a sudden shes the dominant sexual firecracker that ends the book with a bang -_- . There was no background for Alex besides Murray the chef, his prick ex girlfriend, the photo on the wall and Stephan. The sex scene was just poorly put together and awkward. What pissed me off the most was the ending, It literally came out of no where. I felt so disappointed after spending all that time reading the story.

Great story although Jamie's family is a nightmare. Jamie's family constantly puts her down, mostly about her weight. Jamie's ex-boyfriend is engaged to her sister and is quite a bridezilla. Jamie takes a job working for Alex Reid and as a part of her job, she gets to move out of her parents house into an apartment in the same house as her boss. Alex sees Jamie as beautiful and smart and would love nothing more than for her to abandon her crazy family. The two are secretly attracted to each other until one night, he takes her to his bed. Ready for book 2 to see if their relationship can survive working together.

Jamie is supposed to be helping out her sister with her wedding, her family thinks she's overweight, and to beat all things, her sister is marrying her ex!! Her sister is a major bitch and wants Jamie to do everything for the wedding. Jamie gets a job working for Mr. Reed (Alex) as his personal assistant. Jamie's sister is pissed because it takes her away from being there for her every second. Her entire family tries to get Mr. Reed to fire Jamie, what a family! She thinks he is sexy, but knows he won't have anything to do with her. The entire office thinks they are sleeping together, will they prove them wrong or right? You have to read to find out yourself. Happy reading ♡

Im a little confused about reading the rest of this series.
It started out as the basis for a coming of age/finding myself story, but then i remembered the title. The boss seemed undefined and lacking enough background for you to connect to him in any real way. Not enough interaction with him. The ending seemed rushed and there was no real heat between them. He showed some interest, but not enough for her to be jumping into bed with him. The sex scene was rushed and empty. Why did it seem like he showed no interest until she lost some weight, which only the jerk acknowledged.
Why did her family consider her incompetent and fat, yet can do nothing without her. Not enough history there, but plenty of the put downs.
The story stops abruptly and the blurb for the next installment doesnt reveal enough to engage you to purchase. So i guess i wont.

When I read the description of this book it interested me enough to give it a try. Unfortunately, the leading female character was written to be such a pathetic doormat that allowed her entire family to belittle her through the entire book. This book was infuriating.

This was an interesting read with a lot of family ants that read like secondary characters. The situations make sense in explaining the emotional self worth challenges the H struggles with. Fortunately, you see hope for her in this first installment.

Wanted to like this, but it lacked any depth. There were numerous errors that showed th he lack of editing. Little character development made it hard to care about anyone in the story. It had potential.

it was too predictable... maybe I could have enjoyed it with another narrator. This narrator wasnt too great. I had to keep alternating between reading the book at listening. Some parts were just badly narrated

25% of the book is advertising / excerpt for another book. She could've made the story longer and completed the story in one book. Also how can the heroine love her family? They're HORRIBLE. Like I would love to see them eaten by a shark bad.

The mean character is weak , she doesn't stand up for herself and let everybody use her , I hated it from the beginning don't even waste your time it's like telling others it's okay to be treated like crap

I found this book and thought the summary sounded interesting. I was disappointed. Don't waste your money. The secondary characters are ridiculous and one dimensional. Poor Jamie being picked on by her self centered family. Not worth it

The Boss ( Managing the Bosses book 1 ) - Lexy Timms ( 4 Stars)

Jamie has given up on men , and pleasing her prudish uptight family until she meets her new Boss ..Mr. Reed, but will they come up with a way to destroy any hopes she may have with him as well.

Will Mr. Reed even want to start a relationship with her in the first place ??

Poor Jamie , I wanted to strangle her family members and somehow make up my own plan to get her and Mr. Reed together . I enjoyed the angst and build - up of emotions on all sides that was in this book. It's Hot and they definitely have chemistry together , but does Mr. Reed actually want a relationship or just a few steamy nights in someone's bed .
I wish that this was a full book and not a series .I guess I shouldn't complain as much as , seeing as I can just download the next books in the series without having to wait .which is just what I will do ..happy reading !

Jamie is a sweetheart, pure and simple...she may be a little on the plump side, but that's ok, especially if she's happy with herself...What I would LOVE for Jamie to do is kick some family ass...figuratively of course. Her sister...what a b...her mom..no better. The biggest dilemma???? Her sister is marrying her loser of an ex boyfriend! What a twisted tale we weave...
Alex Reid in a gazillionaire who is in search of a personal assistant..ME PLEASE...but Jamie knows if she can get the job she can finally escape her hateful family. And that's really all she wants...or what I want for her.
I'm liking the characters so far, even the spiteful ones make for GREAT reading. I need some more of Alex though...I hope he gets a bigger part in the next of the series. We all love sexy, controlling rich men. LOL.
While the story was short, it did it's job and got you invested in the characters and where they go from here. Can't wait to grab book 2 and see what the author does. Hopefully Jamie's got her bitchslap down, Stephen chokes on a petit-four and Alex grabs Jamie by the hips and won't let go!

This was a very interesting read! Usually most people have insecurities only have to deal with society and self deprecation, not their families. I honestly felt horrible for Jamie. Her family were complete jerks! Every last one of them. If I was her, I would have told them to kiss off! Jamie was a lot more tolerant than me though. Anyways, when she ventures out and away from them they still find a way to torment her at every turn. Thank God for Alex, her Sexy Boss. He was like forbidden fruit. We all know how that goes right? The more you can't have something or shouldn't, the more you want it.
Everything about him makes Jamie think there would be no way he world want her, but freaken if doesn't. Huh sometimes men aren't shallow. Sometimes they see more in you than you can see yourself. Which is definitely the case between Jamie and Alex. I felt like the beginning to middle of the story developed at a decent pace, but their "relationship" seemed to move really fast. While I enjoyed the story, I think that some of the things Alex voiced would have been more like thoughts. The intimate interaction between them I felt like would have unfolded slower. The ending seemed rushed, but otherwise I enjoyed the book. I'm anxious to see how it continues.

The Boss: (Billionaire Romance) (Managing the Bosses Book 1) Lexy Timms continues to delight and amaze, Heroine Jamie Connors is smart, pretty, if a trifle overweight. The men she attracts aren't men she finds attractive.
The family's attention is fixed on her sister's upcoming marriage, by which time the sister wants Jamie to lose enough weight to look good in her maid-of-honor dress. To make it worse, her sister is marrying Jamie's ex-boyfriend. Family angst is played here true to life, and you'll recognize some anguish you may have shared... Meanwhile, Jamie takes a job as a PA for billionaire Alex Reid that includes an apartment on his land. This gets her out of her parent's basement.
Can Jamie manage her billionaire boss, having so mismanaged her own life - and do so without falling for the rich guy? Warning: cliff-hanger approaches. But take heart, there are more books in this series.

Ever wonder where body issues and low self-esteem come from? Meet the Connors and Jamie's ex-boyfriend Stephan (her little sister's fiancé). After all if she was skinnier he wouldn't have cheated and hey she really should suck it up and drop six dress sizes to earn the right of being maid of honor.
Enter Alex, Stephan's college friend, workaholic billionaire with more going on his work life then he can handle on his own that realizes it's time to find a PA who will hopefully be a non distraction. Stephan has the perfect solution.... His fat, unattractive soon to be sister-in-law.
Be prepared to be ready to murder Jamie's mother, sister, ex-boyfriend, and even her father a couple of times!! Alex sees her for what she truly is and tries to get her to see it too! Can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I was given this book by Hurricane Readers Book Reviews in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to start by saying I really liked Jamie, but I hated the way she let me family treat her. I understand family loyalty and all that jazz but letting them walk all over her and treat her like s***, made Jamie seem a bit weak. I hope in the books to come as she starts to realise her self worth, she won't take it anymore and fight back.
I can't really say much about Alex because I couldn't really get a feel for him yet, hopefully that will change in the next book as we get to know him better.

I really liked Lexy Timms writing style, I'm not really a big fan of books written in the third person but this one worked for me

This is a romantic and family from hell. When. Jamie is being. Ragged on by her sister and mother to lose weight to be thin for her sisters wedding. I feel like i would punch her sister and tell off her mom. The nerve of her sister, not only is she. Going to marry Jamies ex but to always put her sister down and say no one would want Jamie. Stephan her ex insults her telling his friend that Jamie will be a perfect personal assistant because she would never distract him while rhey worked together. Follow Jamies story it is funny sad and her boss is the kind of man we all dream about. Iove this book. Can hardly wait to read the next one.

Short but sweet yet you feel the heat simmering at slow pace.

Alex and Jamie; an office romance or a match made in hell? ;-)

The hell in this case would be Jamie's family - A family that does not support her at all. Luckyly she has Alex to support her and have her grow a little back bone.

That ending?! Damn that was *...* ;-)

I can honestly say I truly enjoyed this story and rest assured that it'll leave you begging for more.

Jamie Connors meets Alex Reid at a restaurant where her ex-boyfriend is celebrating being engaged to her sister. She is recommended to him as a woman who is not distracting, who is overweight. Her family treats her like a fat Cinderella. She needs the job so she can move out of her parent's basement.

Alex offers her the job right away. She comes highly recommended by her previous employers. She is also overwhelmed with planning the wedding for her sister who is a lazy, spoiled brat. She is also marrying Jamie's ex. Even when she asks her family to join her for her birthday dinner - they do not remember what day it is. She has to pay. The discussion at the table is only on her sister's wedding and not on her birthday. Seriously it is so wrong what her family always does!
This was a great start to what is going to be a great series. I was only teased with this first book as there will be a continuation and I'm looking forward to see what unfolds. Great job and definitely a must read.

What a refreshing change. The leading lady, Jamie, is of normal size. A woman I feel like I can relate to more than model women. She has curves where most of us have curves, yet super hunk Alex finds her irresistible! I love the family dynamics in this book. Everything isn't perfect. Jamie's family constantly put her down and Alex's family has yet to be revealed. This book is well written, and I really enjoyed it. Author Lexy Timms is new to me and I will now look to read more from her. I happily award it 4 ???? ~ Rosie

Nowadays, it seems like in a 'regular' woman's fantasy world, all bosses are either millionaires or billionaires. Not only that, these bosses are young and handsome beyond believe. Well, if you are fans of these kinds of romantic tales, this is the book for you, but don't expect The Boss (Managing the Bosses book 1) to have a happy ending. It doesn't. You'll have to read the rest of the series to learn the rest of the story.

Jaime Connors is sitting a restaurant celebrating her younger and thinner sister, Christine, engagement to her douche-bag ex-boyfriend – Stephen.

“… given up on finding a man. Despite being smart, pretty, and just slightly overweight, she's a magnet for the kind of guys that don't stay around.”

With her high maintenance, bridezilla of a sister who demanded Jaime to lose a substantial amount of weight to be consider the maid of honor. Not only was Christine tying to guilt Jaime, but also the entire family was trying to get her to assist with for everything wedding related to the wedding so Jaime knows she needs to move out of her parents’ basement soon!

While at the engagement party, Stephen runs in to his old college acquaintance – Alex Reid. Alex was telling Stephen how he is looking for a Personal Assistant who is efficient, not a beautiful distraction, and most importantly can get the job done. Stephen tells Alex he has the perfect person in mind and she is ‘hardly beautiful’ – Jaime.

“Taking a deep breath, she sucked in her belly and tried to appear calm as she opened the door from the bathroom, surprising both Stephen and Alex.”
“She wouldn’t have been surprised if there had been a loud stomping sound from her jaw hitting the floor. The most gorgeous man she had ever laid eyes on stood in front of her.”

Alex offers the Personal Assistant position to Jaime, which includes a two-bedroom apartment on his property too! Will Jaime manage to get to close to the Boss’ heart?

“She loved her job, her apartment and she was even beginning to like herself again. What happened with Stephen sucked a royal big one, but, oddly…”

Lexy Timms’ THE BOSS (Managing the Bosses), does a magnificent job writing a captivating story that will have you feel as if you are on an emotional roller coaster of COMPASSION, SADNESS, ANGER, DECEPTION, LUST, JEALOUSY, FRIENDSHIP, SUSPENSE, HOT SEX SCENES, and LOVE. THE BOSS will capture your attention immediately and will be unable to put the book down, but do not be surprised when left with a cliffhanger. I cannot wait until the next release, THE BOSS TOO coming hopefully this month!

"Mr. Reid only breaks hearts…He’s not romantic. He’ll never tear himself away from his work enough to actually care about anyone else."

Lexy Timms’ THE BOSS (Managing the Bosses), receives - 5 AMAZING STARS!
